Dominique’s ginger hair took to the wind as she stood leaning over the edge of the railing of the yacht. The gentle spray of the salt water tickled her face as the boat carved through the waves, sending a gentle shiver through her body. Truthfully, she had lost herself in the calming roll of the waves and the sound of her music cutting out the sounds around her. She was completely relaxed at this moment, save for the gentle flutter of butterflies in her stomach. Excitement, something any new student to S.P.I.G.A would be hard pressed to suppress.
As the looming fortress that was the academy came into few, Dominique stood straight and paced back to her small, cramped cabin and began to put on her casual gear. Nothing too serious, but enough that were she required to defend herself for whatever reason, she could do so rather well. On this particular day, she had decided on a practical, but casual look composed of her favourite
tan tactical pants, a
long sleeve black athletic shirt and her soft shell jacket overtop. Reaching into her duffle bag, she pushed past her tactical vest and retrieved her custom made
arm braces, sliding them on each arm underneath her shirt. Once she finally emerged from her cabin she paced back towards the open deck, her
ankle high hiking boots making little noise on the hallway floors.
Moments later, she stepped off of the ship and onto the dock that preceded the castle. She slid her jacket off and tied it around her waist. Now that she was no longer at see, the wind wouldn’t be as cold. She quickly tapped her nearly invisible wireless earbuds to skip the song, putting on her normal pump-up song as she took a deep breath. A new stage in her life had just begun.
With a newfound energy in her step as the music rang through her ears, Dominique began the walk to the main building of the castle where she would join the rest of the students for a small assembly, taking in the scenery around her as she did. It was a wonderfully isolated place, with water surrounding them on every side. She was going to love it here. Her head bobbed to the music as she mouthed along to the lyrics, excitement building inside her as she got closer and closer to the main building.
After listening to the rather brief speech from the headmaster, she followed the rest of the students towards the dorms, restarting her music with a quick tap of her right earbud. Dominique reached down and picked up her matching black duffle bags and entered the dorm building where she calmly walked right towards her dorm, nodding gently to the people in the commons before entering her room. She stacked her bags carefully at the end of the bed and took out her earbuds, stuffing them into her pocket. She took out her phone and quickly checked her hair in the reflection of the screen before returning to the commons room.
Stepping forward, the ginger took a seat in a lone chair before waiting for an opening in the conversation to introduce herself.
“Plesure to meet you all, my name is Dominique.” Her french accent clearly audible as she spoke.
