I'll be going on a two week vacation starting tomorrow and don't know how often I'll have Internet access. Thank you for your patience. I'll try to be more regular when I get back.
"C'mon Uncle Graft, I might look like a child, but I'm not stupid," Salem pouted, "I have plenty of outfits and bodies I could switch to to look more like Sis, and of course we'd be posing as travelers, maybe...orphans?" He said this last word a little slower and louder just to see if it made anyone uncomfortable about their current predicament which, at least to Salem, was like losing their parents. Then, deciding not to be too abrasive, Salem patronizingly added, "Of course, Uncle Graft does look human enough, so your plan is as good as mine...if not better."
Despite behaving like a brat, Salem did respect Director Graft, even though Salem knew of the tension that had existed between Dr.Drd and Lord Brushen Penn. But Dr.Drd was the kind of person to make enemies of those he admired, and despite his jealousy towards Brushen Penn's creations, Dr.Drd had openly admitted to Salem on numerous occasions that he felt the Factory was truly a marvel. So when Rodias laid out his plan, Salem wasn't exactly miffed, having offered to scout not because he was curious about the village, but because he actually thought it made the most sense, and Rodias' plan was not too far off, logic-wise. Nor did getting paired with Graft rub Salem the wrong way either, but when Rodias reached out to touch Salem's shoulder, the doll momentarily flinched, pulling away from the touch, but caught themself, stopped, and allowed the physical contact to happen.
With the meeting adjourned, and Graft and Salem ordered to wait for Rodias, Salem was already trying to think of ideas to surveil the surroundings. Hovering over to Graft so they could travel together to the foyer, Salem was unsure how sore Graft would be at having his idea dismissed by Rodias, so decided to be just a little more tactful than usual. "It's a shame, Sis Kath is going to scout. I'm sure for our project, having a librarian to help us find the best scrying spells would be very beneficial. Hey! Here's an idea! I might be putting the cart before the horse, but what if we sold dolls? Dolls with my eyes in them? As the product spreads, as I'm sure they will thanks to your business acumen, so does my vision! I can report on everything I see! Oh, but there is an upper limit to how many eyes I can manage... Maybe we'll still need a scrying spell after all...?" Salem mimed a pensive look, while continuing to hover alongside Graft, hoping that by proposing a business opportunity and getting Graft's creative, mercantile juices (literal and figurative) flowing would assuage any lingering resentment.

Sierra has been described as someone with a 'mind of metal and wheels', though that is not to say that she has a heart of stone. Sierra simply desires practicality and efficiency, which may come off as a need to control. She lives a simple life, feeling that excess dulls the mind and weakens the body. Sierra shows care through actions instead of words, so while she's terrible at comforting people, she may attempt to solve their problems or simply do chores around their house for them if she feels indebted to them. She derives self-worth from being useful to others. She secretly, and not-so-secretly, judges others positively based on their usefulness and negatively based on their extravagance, and doesn't trust those who are rich or have lived comfortable lives. Sierra believes that the prosperity of Root River lies under the earth rather than above it and seeks to save Root River from the fate that befell her hometown by finding a motherlode in the mines. If she is unable to succeed at that, she would resort to 'saving' Root River through modernization and industrialization, putting her at odds with those who would prefer to keep the town natural and pastoral. Sierra is also something of a penny-pincher having lived a relatively poor life. She likes simple foods that give her long-lasting energy and foods that don't spoil. She often conflates enjoyment and decoration with decadence and opulence. The only thing she's really willing to spend money on is healthy nutrition so she can keep working.

Sierra doesn't believe in the Harvest Goddess, or the supernatural. Sierra believes in "the sweat of a man's brow", and that hard work, not wishes, is the only thing that can change the world. She thinks the Rot is a natural occurrence, and if people blame BigCo for the Rot, she will counter that many other places have industrialized, yet don't seem to complain about the Rot, so either the Rot isn't real, or companies like BigCo know how to deal with it.

Cletus is an old resident of Root River, and knows all the other locals. He moved here decades ago from a faraway land and began plying his metalworking trade, working together with the local miners. But despite Root River falling on hard times, and people selling their land and moving out, Cletus continued to work and maintain the crumbling town, even digging for ores himself before age began to overtake him. He is a very close friend to the Wheelers, and regrets being too socially jaded and too superstitious (because he saw Freddy's disappearance as an ill omen) to continue Freddy's fight against BigCo. Before Sierra's arrival, Cletus had been relying on Ferris' strength and youth to help with the town's upkeep. Now he continues to smith, while letting Sierra do most of the mining, but he hopes to one day pass on his skills to her before he joins his ancestors.
Cletus is a serious individual who keeps his emotions close to his chest. To him, life is a set of rules that one must follow, as well as a game that could devolve into chaos at any point. Despite not being rich, he insists on dressing well because he knows that human nature is judgmental, and presenting as well-off was a deterrent to other problems. Cletus is defensive in a diverting and avoidant sort of way, rarely letting his guard down. Still, it is clear to others that he means well, but that his culture and unknown past experiences have forced him to put up a wall that is unlikely to come down now that he is in the winter of his life.

A male tortoiseshell cat (a genetic improbability) named Limp Biscuit lives with Sierra and Cletus. Originally, Sierra found the cat injured with a limp and nursed it back to health. She originally just called the cat 'Limp', expecting to release it back into the wild once it had healed. But the cat stayed around, though Sierra doesn't feed it, instead letting it hunt on its own. Someone eventually convinced Sierra that she needed to give it a cuter name, like 'Biscuit', so she started calling it 'Biscuit', but it wouldn't respond to the new name. So finally, Sierra settled on 'Limp Biscuit'.

Cletus Kang has allowed Sierra, while she is his apprentice, to live in his home, which is the town smithy, located in position 5. The property belongs to Cletus, is known as "Kang's Smithy", and has a decidedly 'Eastern' decorative flair.

Sierra was born in another rural town. Sierra's father used to be the foreman of the town's mine. A series of unfortunate cave-ins and accidents as well as a sudden inability to locate rich ore deposits led to the mine being deemed exhausted and subsequently shut down. When Sierra was 10, the Hamilton's moved to the city where Sierra's father became a factory worker, while her mother became a teacher, though previously she had been a homemaker. In her hometown, Sierra had been able to spend plenty of time with both parents, but in the city, they both needed to have jobs to support the high cost of living. Sierra felt neglected and kept to herself, blaming the mine's closure for her misfortune and the exhaustion she saw in both her parents' attempts at trying to earn a living wage. Upon graduating high school, Sierra took hard labor jobs to help contribute to the family finances, knowing they didn't have enough to send her to college.
One day, her parents surprised her with some money that they had been saving up. They remembered how much happier she was in the town she was born, and they had saved this money so that she could start a new life and make her way in the world. They convinced her that they made enough to take care of themselves, and that Sierra deserved a chance at freedom from the city and to see the world. She first went back to her hometown and saw that it had been more-or-less abandoned. Asking around, it turned out that it had fallen on hard times, and when BigCo moved in to develop it, the citizens said, 'no' because they wanted to keep it natural. BigCo left the town to its own devices, but it eventually started losing business and population started dwindling. Sierra then turned towards Root River, hoping that she could strike it rich in the mountain, save her parents from the city, and let them retire in peace, comfort and dignity.
To kick-start her mining career, she met with the local blacksmith, Cletus Kang, to learn the ins-and-outs of mining, though she also had her own father's knowledge to rely on. It was easy for Sierra to pick up on mining, since it was a low-skill job, but Cletus also began to teach her smithing, since he was getting on in years and hoped an apprentice could continue the upkeep of Root River's infrastructure and industry. Sierra refers to Cletus as 'Kang ShiFu' (Instructor Kang).
"Done parkouring around town?" Tessa asked. She was slightly annoyed at the red head for the trouble of hunting her down, but she knew better than to make any attempt to restrain the free-spirit. Despite it all, Rael showing up was quite a relief, though Tessa didn't let it show on her face. She was ready to shoo away the others that she had roped in to help locate Rael, since they had outgrown the use she had originally enlisted them for, but Graves seemed to want to allow them to join the party. It wasn't a bad idea, so she didn't stop him, but she was starting to regret her initial rudeness, just because it would make working with them difficult if they held it against her. Not that she was ready to apologize for it either. Never show weakness.
While keeping an ear to the introductions and trying to think of the newcomers' place in the party, Tessa gave her attention to Tif instead. "So what's new with you? I assume if you've been training, that you're ready to try your hand at PvE again? You are in, right? I'd hate for our party to be diluted with noobs and RPers." She shot a skeptical glance at Alex, Zero, and Eaudenil.
Rodias' announcement that the other Sable Lords were missing came as a significant shock to Salem. Salem's creator had already been missing for a while so one would think that the announcement would have a lesser impact on Salem, however, Salem interpreted the sudden disappearance as a willful act of abandonment, reminding Salem of it's own loss. Various knick-knacks in the room rattled in place as Salem telekinetically reached out, wanting to throw a tantrum and upturn the room in chaotic betrayal. But the items stopped rattling as a cold, jaded rationale settled upon the doll while a disgusting smirk crept across Salem's face.
Being invited to the table, a mischievous thought entered Salem's head. If being a 'good boy' and waiting for Dr.Drd to return had not worked, then perhaps the only way to get the attention of their fickle Sable Lords was to act out. Salem hovered over, finding Dr.Drd's seat that had been empty for so long. Salem then plopped down into the chair in an irreverent and disrespectful pose, with Salem's knees draped over one armrest, while Salem's elbow sat on the other, the arm propping up the doll's head. Besides, without the other Sable Lords, it only stood to reason that the Chapter Keepers took up leadership positions at the table to keep the Chateau running. If obedience was not enough to warrant their creators' attention and praise, perhaps open rebellion and impudence would get them to come back. However, Salem was shaken out of this pose by Rodias humbling himself to the Chapter Keepers. At first Salem felt disgust, and it showed on the doll's face. The hierarchy had always been absolute. According to Salem, the Sable Lords obviously didn't rule with love, so they had to rule with power. It disgusted Salem that Rodias would show weakness in front of all the Chapter Keepers instead of taking responsibility as a parent leader and at least projecting the illusion of stability. Salem was about to lift Dr.Drd's chair off the ground and smash it over Rodias' head in a fit of rage before Rodias swore that he would never abandon them, causing Salem instead to sink into the chair limply.
For the rest of the conversation, Salem sat there in silence, the doll's elbows on the table, Salem's face buried in its palms, trying to get its act together. Many of Salem's axioms had been violated, yet it came with a strange relief. Salem also had to come to terms with the fact that no amount of waiting would ever bring Dr.Drd back. Salem wasn't ready to swear fealty to Rodias just yet, but they weren't going to oppose him in any way either. Instead they would continue to play the part of the precocious toy as a front while sorting out their own thoughts.
Salem listened as Rodias explained the situation, confirming the doll's own observations from telekinetic eyes placed outside the castle. Several options were given for how to deal with the nearby village, few of which pleased Salem. "If we want to acquire as much information while revealing as little about ourselves, the best option is infiltration," Salem offered, "Ashara has a human form, and I look enough like a human child, that it only makes sense that the two of us go into the town disguised as siblings, mingle with the townsfolk, and find out as much as we can, while gauging their reaction to the sudden appearance of the castle. Isn't that right, sister?" Salem turned their head in an uncanny rotation, to smile at the busty fox.
Alright, character done, just need to solidify where she lives.

Depends what being ordered. Given its signature dishes are home made foods and meaty stews etc, they could be a little more expensive than average but it's big portions and good food. It's worth the price.
The teas and other smaller items be the lower price ranges though. It's not all big meals,
Okay, as long as its worth it relative to quantity. My character might be a semi-regular.
@Archmage MC With Light being a Void Being, is she technically an undead or not?
I think Salem counts as undead. Their race is listed as ghost and poltergeist, and they are technically a lich in that their soul is stored in a phylactery. But they are also a construct.
