I'll be going on a two week vacation starting tomorrow and don't know how often I'll have Internet access. Thank you for your patience. I'll try to be more regular when I get back.
I feel like my character has their work cut out for them, particularly if no other carpenter-adjacent characters claim and someone wants to renovate a building. xD
I intend for my miner character to be from the city. But I feel that some form of industry is vital to the town, ie. having a blacksmith, but it doesn't make sense for my character from the city to know smithing. Industry requires some form of pre-existing infrastructure, so I'm thinking of making an NPC who is the town smith, who my character is learning smithing and mining from. That being said, the old smith NPC is probably close with the Wheelers, and might share some of the burden of repairing things around town. We can discuss and collaborate to flesh out the relationship.
I'm curious to know how expensive Freya's Feasting Hall is. Oftentimes, 'authenticity' is used to crank up prices arbitrarily and make something 'luxury' when it really isn't. I'm asking because my character will be a bit of a penny pincher, so your response will determine how often my character frequents the hall.
Sylvia woke up in a bad mood. She had wanted to sneak into Neil's room the previous night to catch him listening to 'mysterious music' as Talia had requested, but Vivian had been so tired from the day's work and preparing food, that the elder sister forcibly moved their collective body to their room and figuratively dropped dead, preventing Sylvia from doing anything but join her sister in slumber. Vivian apologized profusely, which helped to soften Sylvia up a bit. Waking with the sun, the sisters had gone out to tend to the beginnings of their herb garden, while taking out the leftover bread they had baked from the night before, some butter and jams, and laid it out on the table for a quick breakfast as the other members started coming out and looking at the board for jobs. Feeling adventurous, the liliraune sisters took a look as well to see what was available.
Noticing the job posted by Forde Briar, Vivian took some interest after hearing Neil's comment. "A grave robber you say? And the job seems to be in a graveyard. I guess we could help with that. Our roots are quite good at digging, and robbing graves is probably not much harder than picking vegetables, except the potatoes and carrots are people." It was apparent that the sisters had a strange way of analogizing animals and plants. "What's at Ravager's Rest?" Sylvia asked aloud to no one in particular. She knew it was a place, but she didn't know why the Guild needed to 'take it down', and why they needed this man's help to do so.
Nzige looked on in interest as Theo displayed some of his contraptions, being quite used to the small mechanical knick-knacks of her mentor, Princess Shuri. Realizing Theo was giving her the Wakandan salute, Ziggy hurriedly brought her hands up to return the gesture, surprised to be using it here. It was somewhat nice to know that the culture of her home was spreading throughout the world. As he explained that he was heading out to get something to eat, Ziggy let him know that she'll just be here, unpacking, now that they've more-or-less divvied up their respected spaces.
Granted Ziggy didn't have much to unpack, given that she preferred to live out of her luggage case since it was quite organized and everything was accessible. She also didn't have such a massive nor high-maintenance wardrobe that she needed to hang up a lot of articles of clothing. Ziggy was also not very artistically creative nor self-expressive, and had very little demands when it came to decoration, though she did have a small plaque of Arabic calligraphy with Quranic verses that her father believed warded off jinns. Though Nzige did wear the hijab, Theo didn't really mention it. Ziggy was unsure how he would feel if she put this plaque up. Her father had warned her that in the Western world, Islam was reviled at worst, and seen as strange and foreign at best. Considering Theo was American, and likely from New York...Nzige put the plaque back in her trunk. She would try to broach the topic with Theo at a later date. She hoped he would be tolerant, after all, Ms. Marvel was doing an amazing job presenting Islam and Muslims in a positive light.
Having done all she wanted for now, Ziggy stepped out of her room and into the 1A common area, to notice a fairly large fellow student taking up space. There didn't seem to be anyone around; the other students of 1A must either still have been in their rooms getting sorted, hadn't arrived yet, or like Theo, had gone out to explore the rest of campus. She wanted to check out the amenities, but felt it would be rude not to introduce herself to a fellow classmate. "H-hey, you're also in 1A, right? Peace be upon you, my name is Nzige Nyenje, from Wakanda, but I go by Ziggy."
General armored 'look', emphasis on the chunky leg armor, and minus the floaty bits:

Personality:
Hyouka is an enjoyer of life, who doesn't take her sentience and rights for granted, and is grateful to the champions of the past who secured peace between man and machine. She revels in her human appearance, but recognizes that not all robots had the same human-like upbringing that she had. Hyouka is nurturing and likes to see everyone getting along, desiring that bonds between individuals remain strong in these trying times. Despite behaving in a goofy manner in social settings, Hyouka can be surprisingly intelligent and tactical in combat, preferring to analyze and approach a situation from a safe distance, and surgically annihilating high-priority targets.
Background:
Hyouka's 'parents', who were descended from the MillAgros Company's line of robot tractors, migrated to Bladine to help with the reconstruction efforts, particularly in revitalizing the damaged food infrastructure. Having more than earned their keep, Hyouka's parents invested in creating a child who could be as human-like as possible so that she could enjoy all the benefits of fitting in perfectly with human society. Hyouka went through her early life facing little to no prejudice, and helped alleviate any ill-feelings any of her more ignorant human friends might have had towards robots, thus smoothing over human-robot relations. Though she enjoyed a very peaceful civilian life away from danger, Hyouka, who had always admired the Knightly Orders, felt she could do more by contributing to the war effort. She opted to outfit herself with hardpoints, allowing her to don mechanical armor, not unlike a knight, but more deeply integrated than any human-machine interface could be, and choosing to handle dangerous, high-damage weaponry and to be come a high-priority target herself, so that he human counterparts hopefully wouldn't have to.
The hangar doors opened out into an asteroid field. Hefting her cannon, Hyouka kicked off into space using her big, clunky, armored legs. Though her armor was fully integrated into her cybernetics, becoming less equipment and more an extension of her body, there was still some sluggishness, owing to the sheer weight of the parts. She double checked that her pain receptors had been switched to 'damage receptor' mode, so that any harm she received would register as 'damage' instead of as 'pain', allowing her to register threats without resorting to panicked reflex. She mentally thanked her parents for making her so lifelike and able to experience things as humans did, but for combat, it was easier to just be a machine sometimes. Hyouka noticed a drift in her rotation, and activated her thrusters to correct for the slight deviance. This was a good training exercise to get her used to space maneuvering and inertia of her weapons and armor. Heading deeper into the asteroid field, Hyouka had reached a safe distance from the troop transport. Warming up her cannons, text and diagrams from Hyouka's heads-up display flashed across her eyes, letting her know the status of her equipment and picking out potential targets. The dual beam cannons mounted over her shoulders extended and swiveled around like turrets, pointing at the various asteroids that floated about. Devastating magenta beams flashed out from her shoulders, striking the rocks forcefully, leaving deep, glowing impressions. Now to try the big one. Hyouka lifted the heavy particle beam cannon to her chest and connected its butt to the energy core mounted on her chest. She felt the click as the weapon attached to her, and could feel the energy draining into the gun as it began whirring to life and opening up like the jaws of a wolf. Making sure to point away from the transport, Hyouka let loose a powerful stream of energy that plowed through the asteroids. Hyouka had to fire her thrusters slightly to prevent from being pushed back by the surge of power lighting up space in front of her. A weapon like this might be too dangerous for a human combatant to handle, which was why she had chosen it. Instead of just leaving a molten imprint, the asteroids hit by the particle beam were superheated to the point of rupture. Clouds of searing pebbles and sand flew in all directions, some were stopped when they hit Hyouka's defense field, while others that managed to make it past the energy shield harmlessly impinged off her thick armor. Despite knowing that war was not a game, Hyouka couldn't help but feel somewhat exhilarated at wielding so much destructive power, and couldn't keep a smile from appearing on her face. As her weapons warmed down, Hyouka turned around and headed back towards to transport.
There's also someone gunning for position of 'dwarf' (@PrinceAlexus), and if my fantasy-based racial stereotypes are correct, they might be a miner too (or a blacksmith, does this make me racist?).
On a related note, I grew up playing Harvest Moon: Back to Nature for the Playstation, and think it would be cool if people used Dream Selfie to make their faceclaims, since it somewhat matches the art style of the old Harvest Moon titles.
EDIT: Or I could go with the town doctor if someone else wants miner
