Beer is liquid bread. Pop-tarts are ravioli. Corn dogs are Popsicles. I will not be explaining.

Haley ★ 24 ★ Taurus ★ EST ★ Casual Level Group Writer

Welcome fellow writer. I go by many names, but you can call me Haley or pretty much anything else. I stick to causal level groups here on the forum. I have a soft spot for thunderstorms, dark humor, strong coffee, animals, pretty words, feminine rage, mythologies, and all things that go 'bump' in the night. I've lived in the same small southern Appalachian town my whole life, and aim to travel one day. I'm open to the occasional random conversation, but please do not message me asking to write one-on-one; it's simply not something I do these days.

Jasper Fray had always been a simple man with simple tastes. Whiskey. Cigarette smoke. Worn out books. Leather. Beautiful people. Pretty words. It was no surprise that he would try and spend as much time surrounded by these things as he could over Christmas break, as well as any other time.

Over the last few months, Jasper had been focusing mainly on keeping up his grades so that he could get accepted into the colleges he wanted. The main dream was Juilliard. It had always been Juilliard. No matter how much he smoked, drank, or wrote, Juilliard had always been his one true love. Rather his application would be accepted or not, he didn’t know. What he did know was that he could play the piano. He could compose music. He [liked writing his music, and wanted to spend the rest of his life doing that.

Sitting on the beach, looking up at the stars, Jasper found himself coming to the conclusion that he didn’t want to stay in Palm Beach his whole life. It was eighty degrees in December, for fucks sake. He wanted to see snow again. He did have friends here, and some family. But what was really keeping him here?

Nothing. No one.

The one person who he would consider staying for was caught up in someone else, and while Jasper didn’t care to interfere, it also sucked to a certain degree.

He opened his leather bound journal, taking another drag from his cigarette. Listening to the waves crashing on the beach, the young man began to write.

Maybe this wasn’t the worst way to spend Christmas.

I had Chinese for breakfast.

Survived my first week at work. Assembly/production work is not for the weak. My muscles are jello. I wont be able to make a proper fist with either hand when I wake up. Theres lock tight glue in my hair and all over my arms. I smell like metal and sweat. My white shirt is now black. Theres blisters on my feet and I am exhausted. Monster energy, Starbucks double shots and ibuprofen are my new best friends.

It's good to not feel worthless anymore. Also a good thing I can pay my bills, as well as buy hair dye, band merch, pizza and the occasional concert ticket again.

I like your eyes, bitch.

You have officially sent my brain into 'uhhh' mode.

Congrats.

People really like to be complemented, typically on their appearance, or talents.

Not I.

I suck at taking/receiving compliments. My brain literally shuts down and goes "uhhhhhhhh"

Raven was ecstatic when Cat had decided to join her for the ride to the fair. Her outfit was absolutely adorable, and to be honest - Raven was pretty sure it was the most Cat thing she had ever seen to date. Their conversation was mainly filled with Raven describing the fair to Cat on the way there.

Aciran fairs were a sight to behold. Placed in a very large field much like a popular music festival, the event could have you walking around for hours. Clowns were common place, as well as people dressed up in brightly colored clothes walking on stilts. Trapeze artists were practically everywhere you turned, and so were food trucks. Though dusty and somewhat smelly, the fair was easily one of Raven's favorite things to do at home.

Of course the trapeze artists and animal acts were more common place in carnivals. Due to decreasing popularity and animal abuse scandals, the Aciran Royalty had decided to re-write the laws for treatment of animals, shut down the carnivals, and take the best things from the fairs and carnivals and combine them roughly fifty years ago. So far the animals were thriving, and so was the business. There were more fair and acceptable wages now, and any food that was left over from the day would be donated to homeless shelters and soup kitchens. The Acirans really did try their best to make sure that their Kingdom was a fair, safe, and wholesome place despite the rumors and the waste.

There were a total of three roller-coasters at the fair. Two for the adults, one for the children. A bouncy house and a few other things could also be found for the smaller, slightly more annoying people in the Kingdom. As for the adults attending today, rides like the Round Up, Grand Carousel, Bumper Cars, Giant Swing Ride, Slingshot, and other adrenaline inducing rides could be found. Funnel cakes, deep fried oreos, lemonades, BBQ sandwiches, corn dogs and more could be found at the food trucks.

Climbing out of the SUV, Raven could be seen with a large smile on her face. Walking up to the gated entrance, both she and Cat presented their tickets at the booth and allowed the worker to place a dark blue wrists ban on their right wrist that signified they had access to unlimited rides and attractions.

Turning to Cat, Raven snapped a quick selfie to post later of the two of them before stuffing her phone back in her pocket.

"So would you like me to be your tour guide for the fair, or did you have something else planned for today?" she asked.

If you had ever watched any TV series about teenagers in high school - you would know that parties were a common thing during the teenage years. For the kids at Rosefell it was a matter of getting enough money together to get the things to even through the party. Luckily enough for the juniors and seniors that had been invited, their hostess was gracious enough to spend her own money for the party.

One could easily spot the massive bonfire surrounded by a few logs and chairs for people to sit on. There was the glorious booze table to the right lined with juices and liquors. The snack and party favors were located on a separate table right beside of it. Packs of hot dogs and marshmallows could be found if one wished to cook them in the fire. Otherwise there were bags of chips, grilled hamburgers, and tons of JK Moore's famous edibles to be had. Beer pong had been set up a little ways from the bonfire closer to the lake. Rich had been kind enough to let Aria borrow the stereo system in his car for the night so that she could blue tooth her chosen Spotify playlist to it. People were more than welcome to bring their own things to the party if the wanted - just so long as it wasn't something ridiculous.

All in all, the students of Rosefell high hoped that this would be a night to remember.
