@JackHasAShotgun Absolutely, advanced isn't really all that cracked up. Most people who consider themselves "High Cas" should be in advanced. I do look for character depth, and things like that. I'm sure you'll do fine.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP?

What is this?
This is a modern era, post-apocalyptic roleplay, but I'd like to think it's not your average, run of the mill end-of-the-world scenario. This is not just a reboot of the old Deadland Wasteland, but a total overhaul. The world, despite starting at a later date, will still be in a state of chaos. It will appear as if nature has already retaken the infrastructure, but that's just due to an initial period of hyper-growth. The people are desperate; their homes are unsafe; the creatures are ravenous: And that's just the first glance. The very bowels of hell will seem to spew forth as the surviving denizens attempt to survive and build a haven of safety, a refuge, the last bastion against the reign of terror overtaking the world. Largely, this will not be a happy-go-lucky band of misfit heroes who save the world. No, this is going to be a tale of struggle, of survival, of loss and tragedy. There will be dark themes, traumatic implications, and even the suggestiveness of real depravity. For these reasons you must be 18+ OR OLDER, despite that we will be using fade-to-black to imply the.. heavier stuff, it will still be a mature roleplay—Despite the label of Masture, we will abide by the rules of the guild, however.

If you are easily triggered, this is your only warning, you do not want to partake. There will be times when I create situations that are, well, not pretty, even through implication. Including, but not limited to; Multiple forms of violence; drugs; religion; and so forth. Again, this is your only warning. However, there will be no unnecessary bashing of certain groups, religions, races, types of characters, and so forth. Everything will purely be for story related purposes. If I feel somebody is being unnecessary about something, I will ask them to stop. Refusal or non-compliance will have you removed from the roleplay.

Disclaimer: I cannot tell you how dark the world will actually be, but rather that it will include these themes at some point, and with varying reoccurrence. There is hope, I'm simply just trying to say that evil people, and desperate people, well, they do bad things and succumb to temptation.

Don't tell me, Zombies?
Sort of. I like a challenge, I like difficult situations. In this world there will be many enemies, from mutated creatures, to aggressive flora, and the various humans who want what you have. You really only have to worry about the "zombies" at night, although in Deadland we'll call them Ghouls, or whatever else the world labels them with through slang. Yes, it's quite difficult to create a unique zombie without going into the extremes. I don't want to do that, but they do have a place here, which will be explained through lore.

The day is free for the people and creatures of Deadland, but the night belongs to the ghouls. They will actively seek you, they will smell you, see you, hear you. They will rip you from your homes, they will tear down your barricades, they will chase you with the full speed their bodies can produce. They will run, climb, crawl, jump, and literally do anything required to get at your sweet, sweet flesh. Ghouls only walk, wander, and roam when they are not hunting, and they are difficult to lose. Some would call them the perfect hunter, if not for the stipulation that they only come out at night. The obvious choice is clear, venture out in the day and tackle on the grotesque creatures of this world. You don't have the army it would take to stand against the tide of ghouls.

What's the Goal?
Ultimately, survival. However, there will be driving plots, and adventures of the "side quest" nature, including what you could consider some "End Game" plots. The world I've established doesn't really have to end, but I do have a goal to work towards. However, all choices, all decisions, and all failures have a real impact on the world. I will even change my own plans based upon what happens. I will take seemingly unimportant events and show you how easily they can spiral out of control. You can play a single character; you can play two (I prefer to start with no more than that, just to begin with.), you can play a leader of a group; a zealous cultist; an escaped scientist (I will provide the information you need). You can play whatever you want, in just about any role you want. However, it is up to you to come up with an interesting character that can fit into this world. Obviously, if you want to play super edgy cannibal Gretchin, she's not going to fit and you will likely find yourself alone, without interaction. Because, and I promise you, if you play a character like that, who obviously conflicts with morality and doesn't fit into the scope of the society we're running with, they will lynch you—And Death? Well, that's permanent.

If at any time your character dies, you're welcome to make another. If you tire of a character, retire them and I'll make them an NPC. Your character will only die under two circumstances: You choose to kill them, or you put them into a position where the only logical course I, as the GM of the world, will have kill them. (See Cannibal Gretchin example.) Even then, I'll never just outright kill an active character. There's always a choice, to flee and run, but that breaks away your character from the main group. If you a persistently taking the illogical course of action, eg; attempting to make the society just understand cannibal Gretchin and welcome her back with open arms, then death is really the only course because people just don't do that. Especially in a scenario like this, all they need is an excuse.

Disclaimer: Active characters are basically safe, and their death is up to you. I will only kill an inactive character if it helps the story move along, or I have to. If you are persistent on the illogical, impossible course of action, then I reserve the right to kill your character logically and through the scope of the world we play in. Even then, I will try to discuss it with you, help you out and point you in the right direction. The only reason I see right now to kill your character against your will is if you continually take the stance of the stubborn, illogical ass.

Final Thoughts
At some point, this roleplay will border into the unnatural and paranormal. There are subjects within the lore that can be seen as having, well, supernatural powers. Whether our characters are able to obtain some form of superpower is undecided, and will decided by all of the current writers when we get there.

There will be advancement in human genealogy and cybernetics. There will be some basic mecha (Less Gundam and more along the lines of what Ghost in the Shell portrays, eg; Bulky Crab Tanks.) I will create an outline of what scientific advancements we'll be working with.

This thread is purely to garner interest, much of the OOC is not ready to be revealed. This will not open when I have gained enough interest, but rather when I'm done compiling the information. Hopefully, I can be done within a week. Maybe a bit more. If you are interested in creating something, whether it be crazy flora, dangerous fauna, a faction, or a piece of lore. You can DM me here, or contact me on discord (user: Syn.Co.E#3751 — Don't click the hyperlink, it goes nowhere.)

Discord
I have a discord server that I mostly use for gaming, but I will be using for the Official Deadland Discord Server as well. It's an 18+ Server, and seeing as this is an 18+ Roleplay there should be no problems with writers wanting to join.

However, that being said. People lie. If you want to join the discord PM me here, or DM me on Discord (again, user Syn.Co.E#3751 — Don't click the hyperlink it goes nowhere) verifying your age. I will take a screenshot for my own personal records of your statement so that I cannot be held accountable and possibly receive action from moderators in case any kinders or teens sneak their way in. Additionally, if it is discovered you are below the United States Age of Consent (18), You will be banned from the discord server, and removed from the roleplay.

"But the age of consent in Australia is 16!"

That's nice, and I don't care. I'm in the U.S, and therefore will abide by those standards. I may come off as a hard ass on this, but I tire of people arguing with me.

@ClocktowerEchos *laughs wildly*
Ash couldn't help but smile as they peeled away from the bar. Loose Baton had certainly thrusted them all into some sort of situation, but Ash imagined this was a good way to start off the story of her legend. A high speed chase because some prospective old buggard pissed off an obviously powerful wallord. Ash laughed aloud as she finagled her bow to be relatively out of the way in the small space of the cart.

"I have no idea what you want Mr.Baton!" Ash shouted over the warlike cacophony of noise, "But you can count me on board!"

Ash laughed again as the cart pitched wildly to one side. In Sport, you did not fear death. Even Lopers are privy to the customs of Sport. If she were to die right here, right now, she'd only regret that she hadn't left the Wal as a legend. Sporthalla awaited, and she would gladly go with honor into the halls of Mad-Den. The cart swerved back into a semblance of control as their pursuers assaulted the cart.

Ash listened to the sounds of metal pinging off the cart, of arrows ricocheting into the distance, of lasguns firing; All of it served to fill the blood in her veins. She was no beserker, not like the great Linemen of Sport, but the thrill of battle still set her blood aflame. Another wild swerve, and Ash swayed with it with the biggest shit-eating grin on her face. In a battle like this there were no tactics, no strategy, no cunning, only skill and raw instinctual talent.

"If one of you has something to shoot with, the help would be really freaking appreciated right about now!".

Ash threw herself back across the rear seat as she worked her bow into a usable, if uncomfortable, position. An arrow whizzed passed the hooded man's head and plunged itself into the grotesquely warped neck of one of the horses. The animal screeched and pitched forward head first, followed by the audible crunch of the rider's bones breaking beneath the beasts weight. It was much easier to take out the mount than the rider, Ash figured.

Her pulsed pounded in her ears as she shrugged herself upright. There just wasn't enough room to maneuver in here. Ash leaned out of her side of the cart, before pulling back in quickly as a spear careened away from the space her face had been occupying just a second before. She looked back, noting the guy who had thrown it, before swinging herself out of the side of the vehicle. She nearly lost her grip as it pitched violently to one side again. A motorcyclist went tumbling past, flipping impressively end-over-end from wrecking at such a hide speed. Ash took hold of the cart's top and pulled herself up.

"Hello Crow-face!" She yelled into the wind, "I hope you know how to share!"

She knelt, bracing herself against the wind for balance and counted the arrows she had left with her fingertips. Eighteen, or so, she may have double counted a few with the way the cart was swerving, and with the occasional need to duck away from enemy fire. She took aim at the man who'd nearly taken her life before. He was seated between two massive tires of a three-wheeled vehicle. Ash loosed, and watched her arrow sail away into the distance. She cursed, drawing another arrow. She wasn't going to hit him, she wasn't exactly experience in firing from atop a moving, badly steered vehicle.

Ash aimed lower, for the large front tire and embedded her arrow into it. A massive pop resounded through the air as the tire blew, becoming a useless mass of flapping rubber before losing traction completely. The trike pulled to the side violently, crashing into another of the approaching steeds before all of them fell beneath a massive, spiked roller wheel.
I second that name because it's pretty sweet.

"Jackal; Expert Bargain Hunters who will take any dangerous job."

@ClocktowerEchos
I also added this line to the last bit of Ash's skills just for clarity—"wise in death"—"Her wisdom centers around knowing what she's working with, and how best to use it to her advantage—Including her enemies weaknesses."
