Imagine using the status bar to post about your personal life, instead of using it to drop bad memes on people. Couldn't be me.

Ya'll fuckers ain't even ready for the lore and depth behind my name - the intricate threads of nuance would destroy your puny, mortal minds. I like writing.

Somebody, please, kill me before I have to see the RPG Status Bar turn into an argument over Feminism. I don't think the Guild can handle anymore issues at present, let alone Feminism.

Jokes aside, it'd be good to have you. If by "wait to see how this looks after finalized" means you're worried about things being incomplete, then rest assured, everything is more or less done; the only things unplanned or unwritten are some of the much later Arcs, and even then, the building blocks exist to plan them fairly quickly as time grows closer. All that's really needed now is a crew to suffer through it.
Solid 24 hour bump.
@Icy Hot Questions are entirely welcomed, feel free to hit me up whenever you have them.

@vancexentan Yeah, there'd be no problems with that. Obviously it's recommended to have seen the first season of the anime at least, but as stated, that's not something that's necessary, merely a recommendation. Helping is what I'm here for, after all.

Note to fans of Re:Zero: Although taking place in the same world, and making use of many of the same lore and world building aspects as the original work, this Roleplay is by and large an Alternative Universe game. Outside of the world and concepts within it, there will be very little in the plot connecting back to the canon story of Re:Zero. I hope this doesn't cause you to reconsider your potential interest.

Note to Anime Only viewers: for the reasons stated above, there should be practically no fear of being spoiled about future events of the story via the plot of this Roleplay. Though I cannot speak to conversations held by players, and certain minor spoilers based in world and magic elements, rest assured knowing that the story this Roleplay follows is significantly different to the events of the canon work.

For the majority, the Roleplay will follow the setup of the original story: individuals are summoned from Earth to the world of Re:Zero, for seemingly no purpose, with nothing but what they had with them at the time of summoning, and no unique abilities except the power to return to a point in time before their inevitable and untimely death. The story will follow the struggle, pains, and triumphs, of those unfortunate individuals, as they attempt to make a place for themselves in the world, against odds that invariably wish to seek their destruction.

As stated, though the concepts and world building elements of Re:Zero remain in tact for this story, the plot, and means by which that plot unfolds, is and will be drastically different to the story you are familiar with. Very few important characters from the canon work remain, and very little of the past remains. Perhaps the only true returning plot points are the Royal Selection, and the legend of Satella, the Great Calamity, and her eventual sealing at the hands of the Sage, Reid, and Volcanica.

Much like Subaru himself, the characters of this Roleplay possess a single unique ability - Return By Death. Although, it features a few changes.

Dying for your characters is not permanent. In fact, death as a fact of life no longer applies. Of course, if you are stabbed in the heart, or burnt alive, or drowned, or suffer any of the innumerable methods by which death can occur, you will still experience it as "death"; the pain, the fear, the chill, the darkness. But in the moment of your "death", when consciousness has faded completely, and the only thing remaining is the void, you will live again, unharmed, and possibly, in a better position than you were before.

Unlike the Return By Death of Re:Zero proper, the moment a character dies, they will instead be returned to the exact moment before their death, abruptly unharmed by whatever attack or effect snuffed from them their light. Other people with Return By Death will see you die, and suddenly return to life again as though the sword swung to decapitate you missed by mere inches. And the ones without, who witness the death and immediate revival, remain none the wiser, assuming in almost every case that somehow, you avoided the reaper's call.

Should a certain number of the Return By Death group be killed within a single checkpoint, time will loop. Every member of the RBD group, no matter if they died during the previous loop or not, will be returned to the moment the last checkpoint was saved, and time will play out exactly as it had without their interference. From a GMs perspective, I feel this fits a Re:Zero Roleplay better than a black and white death to reset system, since that can leave certain players left out of certain events, and therefore potentially the Roleplay proper. It also gives you the players a great deal more time and chances to actually figure out what is going on in any individual moment, providing potentially more information and helping along with some of the more difficult mysteries, so that the Roleplay doesn't begin to stagnate on reset after reset. It is also worth knowing that it does not have to be individual deaths that reset the arc. A single person could be responsible for every death on that counter, and cause a reset completely on their own.

If a member of the Return By Death group attempts to speak to somebody from the new world about their ability, the fact that they can loop time, or the fact that they have been summoned from a different world, they will be exposed to some fairly unpleasant feelings and penalties. They are free to discuss amongst themselves anything related to this, provided there's nobody unqualified within earshot, but everyone else is a no-go. The penalties will be shown upon a person crossing that bridge, but one consistent factor is that the quantity of Witch's Miasma, or Witch's Scent, will increase on their body. Some people can sense this, and may associate you with the Witch Cult, but it will also attract Demon Beasts, so beware.

In the style of Re:Zero, the Roleplay will be broken down into Arcs, which each Arc covering a significant event or portion of the story at large. Within these Arcs there will be checkpoints, places to which the characters will return to upon a loop reset. These isn't necessarily a single reset point per Arc, and it is not always set at the very beginning of each either.

During each Arc, you should expect there to be at least one loop. While it is technically possible to pass any given Arc in a single attempt with enough planning and dumb luck, it is very likely that that won't be the case. Understand that I will be as fair as possible in the massacre of your characters, and will not kill them unfairly, or without good reason. It's very likely that, for example, the first time a character encounters a certain attack, it will do significant damage, because they are unaware of how to properly avoid or counter it. In subsequent loops, or even the same one, characters will be quicker on the uptick, and will be able to better avoid death as a result of experience. This will likely take time, and as such heavily benefits from the multiple death reset system.

Keeping this in mind, understand that I won't be holding your hand through the Arcs. It is up to you and your characters to figure things out, and while I may give hints both OOC and IC if progress begins to dry up, I have no intention of solving any given problem for you. This also means that, if you so chose, you could allow any character you wanted to die. If an Arc was completed perfectly except for a single NPC being wounded or killed, it is entirely your prerogative to choose to continue, and leave that NPC unsaved, regardless of how important or beneficial they could be to the party. Just keep that in mind.

When an Arc is finished, or between certain blocks of Arcs when a major overarching series of events has been concluded, there will be moments of time when the characters are free to interact and do as they please, with both each other, and the NPCs around them. These blocks of time, to the player's discretion, can involve training, which will increase their likelihood of receiving a better power increase at scheduled strengthening points. This can include Divine Protections, Authorities, unique or additional spells, and simply improved skill at a specific task. It's up to you who and how you choose to learn, and in general, up to you how well you character does.

Q: Can I make somebody native to the world?

A: On a fairly fundamental level, I'm very likely to reject any native characters. This is a choice simply out of my own convenience, because if a person is going to play a native, then I will be compelled to have them be involved in past events, so as to give them a reason for actually being involved. If you are undeterred and wish to create one regardless, PM me about it with whatever ideas you have regarding their history, so I can make the call as to whether fitting them in can be done without causing issues elsewhere. 99% of applied natives will be denied, but try not to think of that fact as me finding fault with your character or application.

Q: Can I start with a Divine Protection?

A:Not in the slightest. All characters will be more or less bottom of the barrel in comparison to people of this world, and while there may be a chance, and a way, for characters to obtain Divine Protection down the line, it won't be available to everyone, it is most certainly be a decent ways into the story.

Q: Could I join this with no prior knowledge of Re:Zero?

A: Sure you can. All of the information you need to know before joining will more or less be spelled out in the OOC, and anything else can be asked and answered by either me or the players. And, as stated, there will be no major story spoilers within the plot itself, so you're more than free to join, and experience the canon story of Re:Zero alongside your participation in this Roleplay.

Q: How much of the story has actually been planned?

A: Currently, there is a plan for nine or ten Arcs depending on character decisions, including NPCs, the history of the world, and the chain of events and decisions that inevitably led to the appearance of the Return By Death group. That is, provided you don't gallivant off and leave all the important NPCs to be killed. In that scenario, there'll be like four Arcs at a maximum, so let's pray that doesn't happen.

Q: You didn't really talk about combat all that much. How will it work with Return By Death?

A: In general, I'll have the final say in what attacks and other actions succeed or fail during combat encounters. NPCs, both ally and enemy, will more or less be fixed in their chances at succeeding in any specific action. The RBD group, on the other hand, will perform better or worse depending on how many times they have experienced that specific action. If a spell is cast which could easily and quickly reduce a person to a bubbling grease, and the character it is being cast at has never seen or been on the receiving end of it, they are very unlikely to succeed at dodging it. On the other hand, a character who has been killed by, or witnessed, the spell, will be more likely to escape and survive. Think of it like advantage and modifiers in D&D, except there's no dice rolls because I'm just calling out random numbers.

When it comes to Return By Death, your character will die, and then be alive again. It'll be jarring - they will experience every scrap of pain up to the moment their vision goes dark, and in a split second, they will be stood again, alive and well, having, in the eyes of those around them, narrowly avoided something that should have stolen from them their life. Those people will be confused, especially the person or thing that killed you, as to how exactly you managed to survive. Some will believe you dodged, while others will believe it to have been something supernatural. The conflict between appearance and truth wont always be so easily parsed in the minds of onlookers, and some may attempt to pry into the uncanny knack for escaping the proverbial guillotine, but that's a bridge to be crossed after it's built.

Q: I'll be able to get a Divine Protection later, but what about an Authority?

A: There might be chances for Authorities to be gained down the line. However, remember that there's pretty much a hard limit of nine Authorities at any one time not including Witch Factors that can't be obtained by the characters for whatever reason, so not everyone will be able to have one. Just know that anyone without compatibility will receive other benefits, so as to keep the power level even across the party.

I hope so. A fair amount of planning has gone into this, and hopefully a fair number of people will be partaking, so any feedback, concerns, suggestions, or even just words of encouragement and excitement are well and truly appreciated.

Eden's neutral expression darkened into apathy. Her expectation revealing herself to the group had been a fight - she had anticipated it since the release of the Psychic spell. She had expected retaliation, interference, a confrontation with The Ascendancy, or their sympathisers, seeking vengeance for their fallen comrades, or simply the chance to subjugate another Monster Girl. But she had not anticipated Hyun Long's descent into aggression; the Psychic magic appeared to have worked, she had remained calm the rest of the night. She had not expected the reliquary to fail after a single use, though perhaps she should have. When did The Mint ever play it straight, she wondered. And she had not expected Sasha to be killed.

The first of Alicia's attacks struck true, the light cutting through the dress itself like paper, and leaving burns at the ends of the magical threads where the heat transformed them to cinder. But the beams barely cut through her skin. To the naked eye, they appeared to simply vanish into her flesh, leaving shallow marks that rapidly sealed up, but to the observant, her skin appeared to shift, and envelop the magic as it made contact. What wounds were made healed quickly, but beyond that, Eden's body seemed to come alive, actively lessening the impact of the force and heat as it occurred. All the while she remained still, looking on at the girl.

Even through the following volley, she made no moves. Streaks of light more intense than before rapidly encroached on her position, and still Eden made no movements to evade, because the attacks missed on their own. Each beam, as it approached her body prepared to skewer her on the radiant spikes, bent around her form, and unadjusted to account for the distortions in trajectory, travelled past their mark entirely. Serenity's daggers much the same, raining from the sky, and despite Eden paying no notice to their presence, twisted around her, to fall and stick into the ground, perfectly avoiding her.

"Good to have you join us - Inquisitor Rachel, was it?" Eden called out, above the explosions of magic that surrounded her - her voicing seemingly amplified through Psychic magic, to convey the words directly to the two Beacon officiers. Alicia could see through her Third Eye that a field of Gravity magic had surrounded Eden's form, forcing the majority of her attacks out of the way, though she could also see that the heat had an effect. Her pale skin cracked and blistered through the explosive orbs, but Eden seemed not to care. And while one eye remained focused on Alicia, her other drifted, separating from the position of its twin to stare at Rachel. "I was just hoping you could tell me where Cindy ended up. No harm, no foul, we can give this all a raincheck, how about it?"

As she spoke, Eden raised the hand not clutching the case, and pointed it towards Alicia. An abrupt and rapid build up of Light magic formed within her palm, much the same in form as the lasers that Alicia herself had fired, but larger, more concentrated, and stretched into a single, continuous ray. The accumulation of magic took but a second until she unleashed a beam of piercing, incinerating radiance, aimed to burn a hole clean through the Seraph Paladin, and anything, or anyone, in front or behind her. The beam would only last for a few seconds, though more than enough time to find its mark, and if it did, the damage it would cause would be tremendous. And still the other eye focused on Rachel, awaiting for the Inquisitor's attack.

Since her usage of the Red Coin, Thalia had been hesitant as to the direction of her future. The Vixen, for a substantial portion of her time as a Magical Girl, had been with her, burrowed deep into the recesses of her fragile mind. It held her together - it kept her safe. All it had ever wanted for the continued safety of itself, and by extension, the body it shared, and the fears it bore had ingrained beyond conditioning. To be without the protection of The Vixen had at a time terrified her. The lead up to using the Red Coin had cemented itself as one of the hardest choices to make that she could remember, not for lack of desire, but a fear of disrupting the equilibrium. What would become of her after? How would her friendship, or lack there of, with Penny, be affected? Would she ever find a safety such as that again? Despite The Vixen's tendencies, and the way it had systematically ruined every person and thing that Thalia had found precious, she feared not its presence, but its absence. Could Penny take that place again, she wondered, or would she have to learn to cope with the lack of an internal mechanism to keep herself safe. Not just becoming different, but becoming less.

And with Penny as she was after the split, she wondered what other uncertainties the future could hold. Despite the warning signs and mounting tensions, Thalia had not expected an attack on the Rave, or rather, she wanted to believe that nothing would happen, and everything could remain the same as it was. She was afraid of change. The continued riots were another thing she could not predict. But more than anything she did not foresee Penny heading out, to take care of something that nobody knew anything about.

So Thalia stayed behind at the Sanctuary. Before leaving, Penny had placed great emphasis on the need to assist in quelling the riots - that Beacon were the ones suffering, not the Ascendancy. But without Cindy or Penny present to guide the incoming and outgoing concerned individuals, and the Corrupted Girls brought back to recover from injuries of their rampant Mental Mutations, the Sanctuary was bound to fall into chaos. Monster Girls by nature were chaotic individuals, forced against the grain by their circumstances, but Thalia was unwilling to let their honourable efforts fall to the wayside.

Some combination of innate desire and Mental Mutation stepped up within Thalia's mind. The end to the disturbances had been something Penny wanted, but beyond that, it gave her the chance to be in control. It was something she could do in the absence of higher figures of authority, and so she wanted it to succeed. She could make a difference, do something beneficial and productive, and be in charge of it all, just for a little while. Her Reverence and Lure bridged the gap between her unfamiliar face and the naturally distrusting girls, and invoking a degree of familiarity with Cindy and Penny both, she took to keeping the rescue efforts unified, and effective.

Mika was wrong. Christine could tell from Olympia's commentary that she was scarcely the brightest bulb, but in her assessment of her nature, she could not have been further off. The selection of milkshake had not been based in psychology - no Death Note-esque game of wit over flavour had taken place between the two. In reality, it was simply the milkshake Christine had wanted at the time, coupled with a general bias against most flavours of strawberry. She had never truly attended a beach, or lounged in a pool, but as a Magical Girl she had little concern over her figure. What standards typical girls had for social etiquette among others of the same calibre did not apply to her; where one may have been embarrassed to select something higher in calorie, Christine thought nothing of it, not out of trust, but apathy.

"So this is the Beach Dimension from before, then?" she asked rhetorically, pulling the lid from her milkshake to smell the contents. Christine's eyes focused on the surface of the substance, watching it for a second, before raising the straw out and tasting the small amount of fluid left on the end. In reality there was no reason to suspect that a poison had been applied, and should one have been, it likely would have been magical, and undetectable, but she checked regardless. "Y'know, Beacon could have taken Vi-chan into custody quietly. Plant a few undercover agents, confirm she's present, and take her with a Shift or teleport. The song wouldn't have started, and nobody would have rioted, but instead, they chose to suppress it with deadly force only after they allowed it to become violent. Do you think that's good, Mika? Are Beacon the good guys? Was that a morally justifiable approach to take? The PI doesn't think so, so we're siding with Cindy Ford. If you feel like helping with all that, I'm sure you could save a lot of people."

While Shirou and Izo stared on, facing the death had on, for one feeling or another, Lilly found herself to Flare, and buried her bleary eyes into the girl's clothes. Watching death, especially that of a friend, was beyond her - beyond the capacities that lay within her. In her memories, death had never been close. The eerie proximity that many, even at her age, felt, coming for their family, their friends. Around corners and standing subtly out of view, until it passed by like a cloud, overcasting a life to an endless, sunless void. A city girl who had a fascination with computers, who was she to face down death?

"This never happens again," Shirou's voice was cracked, and the words he spoke filtered from a throat seized in the pain of tears. Lilly glanced out from beneath Flare's stature and clothes, keeping the gruesome sight of Chikako's desecrated body out of her periphery, in the direction of the hero - and through her own tears saw his, built around the edges of his bloodshot eyes. His gaze remained fixed on the screens, brow furrowed and jaw clenched in an expressive mix, of anger and sadness and fear, and the crushing failure of his inaction. "This never happens again - Chikako died because she didn't trust us to help her. She thought she could fix everything on her own, and every single one of us has to pay for it. If any of you, any of us, fears something like Chikako did, please, please, you have to trust me, us, to help you. Don't throw away yours and somebody else's lives out of, out of fear, or anger, because that's how Monokuma and the Mastermind of this game control us. Nobody else is going to die, this can't happen again. Is that understood?"

The waters of a stone basin rippled against a draft of wind, obscuring for a moment a dimly lit room, littered in debris and bodies, reflected through the depths of the pool. Up the legs of the structure, and inwards to the centre of the bowl, a hundred faintly illuminated runes cast a thin, but constant, trickle of light, forming out of the holographic waters, to create a glow around the edges of the carved stone - spilling out onto the dusty ground around it. The sand smeared across the masonry, held tight in the various craters of the rough carved surfaces, until the black rock had been transformed into a grey-beige under the faintly green sunset.

"You just don't understand how to give in, do you?" began the voice of a woman, who hung over the edge of the pool, staring into the waters. A mess of red spilled forth from her head, caught perpetually in a silent gust, where it trailed freely in the air with a steady stream of sand, picked up from the dunes encroaching on every side of the relic. A wasteland that held only the girl, and the remnants of ancients long dead. "A king who relies on sacrifices to reach their goal is destined to lose everything. I... thought you knew that well, and yet... Sasha..."

"Not half bad," called a girl's voice, just off from the side of the ruined remnants of the warehouse. As she spoke, she stepped out from the shadow of one of the other warehouses, entering into full view of all that remained around the site of the rave. Her voice matched the one in the psychic message that followed the psychic attack, while the black dress she wore, and the armoured claw that swung around behind her like a tail, were easily recognisable to any of those who entered the room where Hyun Long has been found. The charring of her skin, and the chunk of flesh torn from her shoulder appeared to have vanished, as though she had never truly suffered any such injury. The girl on the floor of the rave had looked as dead as the rest of the assorted bodies, but as she was, there was practically no indication that she had even been in the warehouse, save the faint smudges of dirt and ash faded into the pitch fabric. "I wasn't sure this many of you'd come out in one piece for a moment there, but I had a feeling you'd win. Admittedly the White Coin wasn't the path I thought you'd take, but I suppose in the end it's as good as killing her - they both save me from having to bring her under control myself, so that's a positive on almost every front."

While she spoke, Eden continued walking towards the group. Her hand clasped tight around the handle of a case, somewhat scorched and damaged, but in tact. It swung with each step, in time with the movement of the clawed hand, swishing rhythmically just behind her, but after a certain distance, it became rigid. The claw curled over her head, fingers extended, and almost directed at the various individuals present, as though keeping over watch of the former battlefield. Once she was merely a dozen feet away from those on ground level, she stopped.

"Before any of you decide to pick a fight you'll lose, I gotta ask something," Eden started, whilst systematically looking between Silhouette, Alicia, the other Beacon agents, and the newly Purified Hyun Long. "Annoyingly, Cindy Ford ran off before I could ask her to stay at the rave, and it looks like she's further away than I can see. You mentioned the Avatars of a Horror at a park. This evening has been, well, a bit of a fucking trainwreck, and I don't really wanna spend too much time looking for her, so have you got any idea if that's where she ended up?"

Christine, for all the experiences in her life eclipsing those of most ordinary adults, was still a child. Compared to those of the same age, she was inexperienced in a great many things. Her days were spent working on whatever was required of it, be it editing a new story, or tutoring a new recruit. It was a life she chose readily when given the choice, but it lacked a great deal when compared to the lives that most others led, even within the same fields - both journalism, and the acts of a Magical Girl. Her Puchuu, an owl looking creature that went by the name Ellie, had been the one to save her physically on the day of her transformation, but he rarely came by, having found better and more talented girls to occupy his time with, and yet she did not consider him her saviour. That belonged to Eden.

Girls her age would have visited beaches dozens of times in their lives. They would have developed their understanding of sunbathing, of the appeal to swimsuits, of their love for the heat of the sun, and the chance to relax from their busy lives. Christine had never been, had never learned those things. She had traded a normal life for one at Eden's side, learning and growing in ways that the majority could never dream of, but she did wonder, once in a while, what kind of things she was missing. On her days off, she did what could be considered normal, but without the normal friends with which to enjoy them, she relegated herself to reading, or gaming.

Her eyes opened abruptly, recovering from her drowsiness almost instantly as she recognised the heat that collapsed upon her skin, and the light that bled through the gaps in her eyelids. She sat upright, eyes locked onto the approaching Mika, on edge and prepared to draw from her Hammerspace at the first moment of trouble. But instead of acting, she paused. The girl before her was Mika - Olympia had met with her a number of months prior, to discuss The Vixen. She had been there at the rave, confronting Alicia Hayden in the hallway. Presumably, then, she had been the one to rescue her.

"I'm... Christine," she answered, glancing around the coliseum she found herself in. After the blinding shot from Alicia, Christine had little memory of the remainder of the fight. Her gun had been knocked from her hand, and she herself had been pinned to a wall. Had Eden succeeded in destroying the Ascendancy ambush, she wondered. "I dunno what 'ree-see-pee-see' is, but if you're trying to say it's peanut butter, I guess I'll have that one. Thanks. You're, uh, Mika, right? - where exactly are we?"

Everyone: You can't just kill two whole Ascendancy Purge Squads

Eden: Haha Psychic Nuke go pew

At Alicia's move, Christine instinctively took a step back, reacting in time to the pivot in thanks to her Awareness. The Duplicate on her right, the one that had joined Christine in encircling Alicia from behind, move in the same instant, but faster - faster than a Duplicate of that calibre should have been able to. Faster than Christine, and Alicia herself. In her Third Eye she could see why: a trail of ice magic between the two, drawing the Duplicate to block the attack, with an added magical boost. By the time Alicia's blades made contact, the real Christine was out of the fire, though the blades easily severed the Duplicate at the legs. In the same moment that it was destroyed, the body reverted to ice. A large ice pillar, nearly seven feet tall, which collapsed under its own weight from the slash, toppling towards the Beacon girl.

The other three Duplicates stepped in to attack, but Leena's own deft strikes eviscerated two of them, immediately transforming them back into their icy forms, which fell to their sides, and shattered against the floor of the hallway. The one Duplicate that survived drew a blade from within its bandages - a long, serrated combat knife, and lunged at Leena, aiming for her hips of back, as she cut apart its allies. The chances of it connecting were unlikely, but it followed its commands to the letter.

Leaving only the real Christine. As she stepped back, she raised her hands, and channelled her Hammerspace Handbag. In the next instant, a gun formed within them. She quickly unfolded the stock, and rested it within her shoulder, as a magazine appeared in her left hand, and slid into the weapon. The barrel pointed at Alicia, and even to the perspective of someone who had never touched a gun in their life, it was clear that Christine was experienced.

"Neither of you move, or you die," she shouted, pulling back the action, and sliding her finger onto the trigger. From behind the two Beacon agents, they could hear the sound of additional footsteps encroaching upon them. More Duplicates. Only three had been destroyed, with one still in the battle, but over a dozen had been spread throughout the Rave. A couple had been killed in the chaos, but more than enough had survived to rebuild the numbers advantage. "If I don't have to kill you, I won't, so here's what you're gonna do. Dismiss your weapons, and untransform. Anything else, and I'm putting an armour piercing seven six two in your head. Got it?"

The discordant note emitted from Penny's magic ripped through the room, forcing Eden to stop. The piano continued to play, but the violin ceased, and Eden once again opened her eyes, her bow hand falling to her side. The Nullification Field had yet to go up. For the entirety of the Rave, she had maintained a faint watch on the minds within the warehouse, waiting for the moment that she could no longer detect a large number of them in a single moment. The field was a foil, an annoying variable that she was loathed to contend with. Not being deployed was more annoying than the alternative.

"Cynthia, that's enough."

"Oh, you're sure?" the voice from the piano began, replacing the music. "If you say so. Let me know when you wanna go again~!"

The thought crossed her mind that she should remain patient. Progressing too quickly could trigger the girl with the Null Field to act reactively, and prevent it. If she knew which of the two girls had it, she could send Sasha to deal with them first. But she didn't. Most of the time spent digging into Beacon was spent attempting to ascertain the machine half of Penny's true nature. It hadn't provided any definitive evidence on which member of The Ascendancy could use the field. But waiting too long would see the Rave exterminated before anything could be done. There needed to be survivors, even if making it look like a massacre was preferable.

Then she felt something. Through the bracelet, Eden and Hyun's minds had been temporarily connected, and the Monster Queen was receiving an email. A psychic message. A powerful one at that, from somewhere further away than Eden could accurately sense. Before the message could reach Hyun's conscious mind, Eden used her own magic to redirect the message into her own, diverting the flow as subtly as possible, though the person on the other end could likely tell. Because they were trying to trigger Hyun into acting upon her mutations. Off the top of her head, Eden couldn't name a single Psychic with the calibre to target a mind from outside her own range. A magic booster could have been possible, she imagined. After all, that was essentially what the receptacle she had had commissioned did.

With a step, Eden crossed the room to the desk, and grasped the cube and rod in either hand. As the psychic message forced its way into her mind, she used her own magic, hijacking the boosted signal of the message to transmit feedback down the line to its source - not enough to cause any damage, but enough for the sender to know that somebody had intercepted the message, and could trace it back to its origin. She slid the luminescent purple rod into the device, locking the hexagonal end into place, while she pulled a single crystal from out within the violin case. A wisp thin string of blue-white, translucent energy connected between it and the cube, providing it with the vast reservoir of magical energy that had been gathered over the two months of summer vacation.

"I'll play along this once. Popipa pipopa popipapapipopa," she exclaimed, raising the receptacle above her head as she spoke. Then she jumped, and channelled the spell. Seconds passed. Ten in total, and at first it seemed as though nothing had happened, as Psychic spell ripped its way through the warehouse, isolating anyone that it recognised as wielding a Spark or ShineSpark. Immediately after, it dealt its payload - a dozen, multilayered mental bombs of varying, but massive, magical intensity, which would shred the inner workings of their mind, until the victims fell dead. Those with the ShineSpark would feel their protection flare violently against the spell, shielding them from the mind rending power of the psychic nuke, but those without wouldn't be so lucky.

For a number of seconds after, Eden waited, watching the minds of those in the Rave, and awaiting for those of Beacon to fade from view. Only after she had confirmed the deaths of the attackers did she move do to anything else. Upon their minds vanishing from her encompassing gaze, Eden opened a Psychic connection spanning the warehouse, transmitting a message to as many people present as she physically could reach. A message, and the locations of the surviving Ascendancy members within and around the warehouse.

"Cindy Ford has gone on to begin the fight, leaving The Penrose Independent to give a message: This is the beginning of the fight Penrose's freedom. The first wave of our oppressors is dead by my hand, but there are more, outside the warehouse, watching and preparing their next way to torture and kill us. Show The Mint and Beacon what a war is really like."

While Penny ran towards the secret exit, Thalia followed on behind, sword summoned and in hand. It was obvious that the machine half was mentally ingrained into her task. That stoic expression, the single-minded drive to complete the mission she had set out on. Thalia could never have attempted to act with such tenacity and diligence, to ignore almost everything outside of a solitary goal. But she didn't have to - that was for Penny. It was Thalia's responsibility to protect her.

Though in her her run, Penny was defending herself, Thalia kept close. The metal of her blade lit up in, wreathed in crimson lightning, illuminating their passage towards the exit for anyone nearby to follow. At the same time, she diverted as much of her magic into her Lure as she could manage, attempting to bolster to attractive effect it had, attracting anyone and everyone towards her, all whilst deflecting any attack that encroached on Penny's blindspots. Upon arriving, she raised the blade into the air, and pumped what magic remained circulating through her into the glow of the sword, creating a luminescent red beacon for all to see.

"That voice..." abruptly, she froze up. A psychic message had been relayed across the warehouse, transmitted into the minds of everyone that it could reach. Thalia's eyes widened, and a chill ran down her body, wracked in a primal fear, left behind by The Vixen. It had been terrified of that voice, and the things it associated with it. But The Vixen and Thalia had become one, and so had the fears. "Th-that's her, that's... that's Eden..."
