Nearly finished, just waiting on a more cohesive setting (timeline, religion, others' military fluff) in order to finish up.
So are you currently independent, or is the insurgency continuing from where it began in the war? Are you still going with the settler minority controls natives thing?
I was thinking they'd either be independent or, as you suggested, beholden to Resia by way of dominion status. I'm not entirely certain of which I prefer or the means by which we reached that conclusion, even if I'd already written a few paragraphs regarding some level of armed conflict (obviously not final). I was considering, hypothetically, some amount of outside interference in colonial affairs, such as enemy states' spies goading agitated locals and settlers into this push for autonomy/independence. All in all, I'd prefer a state to play a state that's on good terms with Resia, or at least making inroads towards reconciliation with them post-revolution. A big part of this, I think, is my population. I have 72 million people, of which approximately 10-15 million are Resian descended or 'old world' descended settlers. This is a relatively large amount of people, and I'd wager that agitation towards some degree of self-determination and a formative national (or at least regional) identity would not at all be unlikely.
Yes, provided the Resian Monarchy is still recognized as the "head of state". If you stick with the South Africa style nation, then yeah, dominion status would be good and we would be on excellent terms.
How would you feel about our states' relations being in a bit more of a flux? The history I had written detailed a low-level armed insurgency capitalizing on Resian's (presumed) preoccupation with the Great War, though the current regime would be seeking reconciliation and perhaps said dominion status. Also, you previously referred to the hereditary military being a particular shoe-in? Can you expand on how that's the case? You mentioned 'Princely States'?
@So Boerd I'm intent on making a former colony that achieved independence during the last great war, if you're interested in that.
Am I obligated to take the reroll should I request one?
<Snipped quote by The Captain> Sure. What is our current constitutional relationship?
I think it's all very dependent on your state's place in contemporary global events. Originally me and Senor Herp had hashed out a little plan regarding me being his colonial state (he has a plan he may or may not share regarding being an 'old world' state), but depending on the circumstances it may make more sense or being more intriguing for my state to be a colony of yours instead. So, I'd like to shelf any final decisions or commitments until I have an idea of the world timeline, but most likely, if it came down to it my state would likely have sought independence and then doubled back for some form of 'commonwealth' recognition of some sort or still be beholden to your state but still largely autonomous.
<Snipped quote by HeySeuss> Hey Captain, want to be a main colony? Your rolls are absolutely perfect for it, down to the tiny hereditary army, just like the Princely states.
I think that might be a good idea. I was considering being a former colony ruled by an ethnic minority (settlers, I suppose) who are most certainly not the natives and who exert their will via the relatively competent military.
Gimme a roll, hoss!
Hey, here's a preliminary map claim I'd like to get out while I wrap up my sheet. The land I've claimed is relatively unproductive for the most part (a great sea of sand), and so I'd like to claim those last few coastal mountain plots without spilling over into being considered an empire if that's possible. I mean, as it stands it's unlikely that anyone will be snatching them up. This is just a rough, ballpark designation of my lands. In fact, I'll probably put another one up with a few of the boundary territories switched this way or that. I'm not entirely decided.
