It's a whole thing... started with a cheesy old sci-fi show, that show became a remake fever where more and more studios competed over making continuations or prequels or movies in the same story, then when humanity actually started exploring space, they made it an actual law for space exploration that prohibits the explorers from interfering with the natural development of alien civilizations... It basically sounds like what you just said. *Makes the creature vanish and reappear somewhere random on the planet while spreading the modifications to several numbers of the other creatures*
