History: Born the single child of a college professor and former AFEUR operator. Growing up, Mateo was always curious about his father's life in the military. But, he was always met with the same answer, no, and after a while, Mateo would stop asking. The only answer he would get other than no is that he does not want to talk about it and asked Mateo to never join the military. A request that Mateo took seriously as he loved his father and would grow close to his father. Who would teach Mateo how to fight both with a gun and with his fist.

Their home was unexpectedly invaded by a group of armed men who would shoot the family. Killing both of his parents but, Mateo would survive barely as the men thought that he was dead. Mateo would hear some of what the men said before passing out. One name was mentioned was Thiago Tejedor. The man who personally shot his parents.

The gunfire would alert his neighbors, and one of them would call the police, and they arrived on the scene soon after. They would find Mateo and his parent's bodies. Calling for an ambulance and Mateo would survive. As he was recovering in the hospital, and after telling the police what he heard the armed men say. It turned out that Thiago Tejedor is the wanted leader of the Tejedor Cartel. Who took control of the cartel after his brother was killed by a squad of Colombian AFEUR operators. The same squad that his father used to belong to.

After hearing about this and being sent to live with his grandparents. Mateo would try to get revenge on Thiago Tejedor. After graduating high school, Mateo would enroll at a local university in criminology, and he was noticed by the DNI. The main intelligence agency of Colombia and seeing this was a chance to better find Thiago. Mateo agreed to join the DNI and was trained as an agent. Learning CQC, firearms, surveillance, and more.

Being sent on several missions and after five years in the agency. Became one of the agency's best. However, Mateo would have had some suspicions about the agency in the past few years. Some inconsistencies he had noticed and some questionable missions he had heard about. He would start digging and would learn the truth when an unknown whistleblower would reveal that the DNI were corrupt and guilty of several crimes, such as working with several rebel groups.

Mateo would be surprised by how bad the crimes were and how they were able to keep it hidden from him for so long. Mentally kicking himself for not finding out sooner and would be disgusted by this. More so when he learned that they were hindering his progress of finding Thiago since he was a cartel that worked with them. Luckily Mateo was clear of any wrongdoings and would quit the DNI after the scandal. Now an ex-agent, Mateo what skills he had to support himself by being a free agent. While using what assets and connections he had to track down Tejedor, who at this point had left the country. It was during this point in Mateo's life that he had been approached by Raven Squad and would accept their offer to join them. While he would be committed to the group's goal. Mateo, in what free time he has, still is trying to find Tejedor and get his revenge.

Personality: Mateo can be described as friendly though at times distant and hard on himself for some failures he has done in his life. Mateo regardless of what thinks of him due to being a former spy. He has strong morals that he got from his father. Which at times has had some problems with his job in regards to torture as something he does not want to do but, if there are no options. He will do it but, will not enjoy it. Otherwise, he is one to help someone in need and despite his goal of finding his parents' killer. Mateo can find time to relax and enjoy life. After his time with the DNI, and despite the noble goal that the Raven Squad has. Mateo has become cautious about his new employers as he does not want to get duped by last time. So while he will do missions and talk with his fellow teammates, he will be watchful if Raven Squad turns out to be something else.

Walson, New York. A small village situated in upstate New York in the Adirondack Mountains. A village where nothing really happens, just a quiet and peaceful village. The people are nice, nice weather, great scenery, plenty of stuff to do for locals and outsiders, and little crime. Having everything that can make one content all in one place and enjoying a high standard of living. Just a peaceful village in upstate New York, a paradise some call it, and the locals like it that way.

And it is in this idyllic village where for one reason or another. Some of its residents, some local teenagers, have been having nightmares lately. While they seem to vary from each other, one nightmare stands out that all share. They are stuck in a white room, unable to move and speak. Voices can be heard, but unable to understand what they are saying, and occasionally there is pain. The more concerning part of it is that it seems almost real.

For these nightmare-plagued teenagers, it is the last year of high school at Walson High for them. Now, seniors with one final year before they graduate and can start the next chapter of their lives. But fate has other plans for them. For unknown to them, their hometown of Walson has a secret. A secret that will change everything that they know as they start to notice the cracks in the paradise of Walson. That this idyllic village is not what it seems and unless they act. They could be lost to this secret, but only time will tell what these teenagers will do and if they can survive Walson's secret.

Overview

Hello, and welcome to the rp. The date is January 25th, 2025, and in this rp. You will be playing as seniors at the local Walson high school during their last year at the high school. For some reason they have started to have nightmares and the most notable being the white room. It was while attending the Walson 200th anniversary festival that an incident at the festival. Your characters realize that they have powers and start to notice the cracks that make their hometown an idyllic place. The cracks get bigger and bigger, and odd stuff starts happening in the village. With most people seemly ignoring it. Culminating in them learning of the Walson's secret, and it will change everything they know if they can survive not being lost to it.

As for what powers will be allowed. Mind control and time powers will be a hard no. As for other powers, most will be allowed, and some I might deny one if it is too hard to balance. If you feel on the fence about one, just ask.

Now the story will take place over a year's time, more or less, as the characters go through their last year of high school as the events of the rp unfold. Which their choices during the rp will have an impact on the story and the village.

Walson

Numbering at 2,752, it is situated in upstate New York in the Adirondack Mountains. Located between the village of Lake Placid and the town of Elizabethtown. Surrounded by forests and mountains. Walson, despite being a small village, does quite well for itself. The town is surprisingly wealthy given its size. The people there do not have to worry about much, and most have luxuries. Though travel to the village can be somewhat accessible due to being in the Adirondack Mountains, despite what the town offers, camping, hiking, rock climbing, and more. Tourists often passed it over to the other settlements in the region. Opting to stay at the more famous and well-known settlements in the region, like Lake Placid or Saranac Lake. But the village does offer accommodations to tourists who do decide to stay in the village. Either way, the village, a hidden gem, is a good place to live for its residents and for those who like the peace and quiet to the backdrop of the Adirondack Mountains.

| BACKGROUND |

Daniel hails from Chicago and is the eldest of two. While he did have a good childhood, despite his father not always being there as he was a hard-working lawyer. Despite this, Daniel did have problems with his father as he grew up. Being his father's favorite, and would give Daniel his full attention. Something that, at first, he was okay with but would grow to hate it as his father would be critical of him whenever he did something wrong or even slightly wrong. Often telling him bluntly what he felt he should do and not always the correct thing to do. There was no break from it, and his father was oblivious to the effect it was having on his child. Plus, for some reason that Daniel does not know, while he did not want his father's attention. His younger sister did, and the fact that Daniel was his father's favorite caused a strain between him and his sister that never really went away.

It was around the time he was fourteen that Daniel started to slowly realize his father's controlling nature. He started to "suggest" the subjects and electives he learned. Always saying that he should be a lawyer like him. When Daniel thought about doing something else when he grew up, his father would politely shut it down. Saying that that is not the path for him and enforcing the lawyer path. A path that Daniel slowly started to hate and would start having fights with his father.

Still, Daniel complied with his father's wishes after high school and earning a degree. His father "recommended a law school" in Chicago, and for a year, Daniel studied there. But, after a long night of studying did he finally realize that he was not living his life. He is living the life his father wants him to live, so after a long night of thinking, planning, and getting the courage to act. Daniel left law school and surprising with his mother's help. Daniel confounded his father one last time before heading off with what money he had and moved to Los Angeles. Getting a job with a friend of his mother, and it was now it was his time for him to live his life.

Daniel made friends with some people after living in LA for a year in his apartment building and is glad he managed to have friends in the city even after a year of living there. He still feels like a stranger to.

The Rutledge family is a new family to Huddeen, having moved in a month ago. Kyle and his wife, Tegan, moved to Huddeen after the couple went through a long period of being overworked and treated badly by their jobs. It was Tegan that suggested that moving to a small town might help him recover. To get away from the hectic city life and start somewhere fresh. After thinking about it, Kyle agreed with the idea, and the two moved to Huddeen to recover and refresh their lives. Having only been in town for a month, the couple has yet to really meet their neighbors and get to know them. They are still strangers for the most part.

Kyle had always wanted to join a comic book company and make a popular comic book. He got his chance after marrying Tegan and graduating from college in Boston, and for a while, it was a dream come true for him. Only about a year in, did making comics take a turn and Kyle had to work under crunch to cut time and pump out comics. It forced Kyle to work long hours with no extra pay, and he was barely home. Which did put stress on his relationship with his wife, Tegen. Eventually, after a year of crunch did, Kyle's body give out and he collapsed while at work. After spending time at home to rest, Kyle decided to quit his job, and it was Tegen's suggestion that they move to a small town called Huddeen away from the city. A suggestion that he accepted, and now he is both resting and figuring out what to do next. Kyle is an optimistic person that is cautious after his time with his first comic book company. Not wanting to make the same mistake again and foolishly get himself into a situation he never wants to be in. So he prefers now to be careful with his decisions and spend more time with his wife. Then she started getting harassed, and when he got tired of it and reported it. Only for her boss to come down on her and when she asked to take time off to take care of Kyle after he collapsed at work. She was bluntly denied, and after being treated like this and seeing how bad things had gotten. She quit and, after talking with Kyle about how to proceed. She suggested that maybe moving away from the city would do them both good. Like the small town of Huddeen, the two would agree, and they would move to Huddenn. Now with time to relax and destress from their time in Boston. It was time for a new chapter in her life and one that she hoped would be a good one. Teran is a rather cheerful person that rarely gets down. Even during stress, she can still give a smile and is a hard worker. Left Behind: Mulberry Street

I like the newbie idea (at least for the family, not so much Tegan). My main concern is that the game dev arc slightly steps on Force and Fury's toes, since both are going for the game studio angle, albeit with different positions of course. Maybe you two could work something out; perhaps Devon and Kyle know each other? Of course you don't have to do anything, I just figured to note the potential for overlap between the two of you.
