Voi Narum Human | 25 | Male | 6'0 | 160lbs 0th Circle | Souls
Voi had a different childhood growing up than most other children, instead of living somewhere sedentary, like in a village or a town. He grew up in a caravan, his parents being its leaders after the previous leader retired to a quiet town. Voi and his parents stood out since they were foreigners who came from another land before Voi was born. They were initially hired as guards to protect the caravan and eventually learned to be a merchant after spending years with the caravan. But Voi never felt like a foreigner while living in the caravan since everyone in it felt like family to him, and they treated him well.
Growing up, Voi traveled to various places and met many people while with the caravan. He was always curious about the lands and people that the caravan visited, and his parents satisfied this by buying him books to read while on the road. One curiosity Voi had was an interest in the afterlife. What happens after someone dies, and what happens to their soul? That question his parents could not answer, but one of the caravanners, an old merchant/mystic, started mentoring him on the subject and other related topics, learning much about it. Still, Voi was content with things, and things seemed good.
But, one day, they were camping in a forest for the night. When bandits attacked them, despite the best efforts of the guards and his parents, Voi was told to run by his parents with some of the other caravanners and reluctantly ran with the caravanners into the night. Voi would survive, as would a few of the caravanners. By the time they ventured back to the caravan, everyone there, including the pack animals, was dead. Voi found his parent's bodies and cried over them. The surviving caravanners and later Voi would notice that, curiously, none of the wares were touched, and a message was written on one of the carts. You two would never escape us, Death to Betrayers.
No one knew what that meant, and the survivors took what they could carry and walked to the nearest town. Voi was still saddened over their parents and the rest of the caravan's deaths and was perplexed by the message. What did it mean, and who in the caravan were they after? But it did not matter to him as most of the people he considered family were dead. It was clear that the bandits were more than mere bandits.
So after reaching the nearest town and recovering there, one of the caravanners adopted Voi. A middle-aged merchant by the name of Garth and moved to the merchant's hometown, where Voi would spend years with the merchant's family. But he could never forget that message on the cart and started training over the years to defend himself.
One day, while he was training, he started to feel weird, and as he hit the training dummy. Voi had a sudden vision of himself staring at an unknown figure, was hit by something, and exploded into a blast of unimaginable colors and intensities. As the colors blasted past him and he stared in awe. One of them, some kind of blue light, hit him square in the chest. He then snapped back to reality and stumbled down to the floor. Like something just hit him in the chest. Voi felt different and started to sense things near him. He soon discovered it was the people around him.
Now realizing that the vision was something important, he decided to figure out what the vision meant and before he left town. He was given money by Garth to support himself in his travels. He ended up in Oratorio after feeling naturally drawn to it and wanting to see what awaited him there.
Divine Protection of Souls Within the range of a living room, people can sense the presence of other living beings as long they is not distracted or asleep.

Life Before the End: The eldest of two, Cal was born to a family in Anniston, Alabama. Growing up, he had a good relationship with his family, especially his sister. However, he was somewhat bullied for being a "hillbilly" due to his family's status and his accent but tried to ignore them the best he could. Besides that Cal was always fascinated with aircraft and the night sky. An interest that was encouraged by his mother. But Cal was more curious about how they worked and how to make them. Eventually, this led him to want to make aircraft or even spacecraft for a career.
After high school, Cal managed to get a scholarship to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, and for a time, he was happy. Then the Olive Plague appeared, and he found himself in an increasingly worse situation before catching the plague himself while trying to leave Atlanta to check on his parents in Anniston. He does not know if it was luck or if God had a hand in it. But Cal would be one of the few to survive the Olive Plague.
Life Since the End: Cal's first action after recovering was heading back to Anniston to see his family. Only to find that both of his parents had gotten the Olive Plague and had taken their lives instead of suffering a slow death. But his sister was nowhere to be found, along with his parent's truck. Cal tried looking for his sister for a time but realized she could be anywhere and had no clue of where she was. He stopped trying but hoped he would see her again, even if the chances were slim.
So, Cal stayed in Anniston for some years before supplies ran low, and he was forced to leave Anniston. After wandering, he found a settlement and ended up joining them. For a time, things were nice, and Cal was just glad that he was with people after spending years alone in Anniston. Then, a group of survivors calling themselves the Dixie Brotherhood showed up and offered Cal's settlement to join them. Most of the survivors, including Cal, were against this, and the offer was turned down to Dixie's displeasure, and they left the settlement alone. Only soon after, a group of raiders showed up and attacked the settlement. Most of the survivors were killed, and Cal and some others were captured. But Cal and the captives managed to escape into the night, but Cal lost track of his fellows as they ran from the raiders' camp.
Cal once again on his own and with nowhere to go. He wandered before ending up in a town called Bluffton and heard of Jonesgroup, and joined them. Now, with a place over his head and people to keep him company. Cal is just hoping that events will repeat themselves in regard to his old settlement.
Personality: Cal before the Olive Plague, Cal was a curious and friendly person who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Always wanting to learn more about things, especially about anything that could fly. Though he does enjoy his time alone with his thoughts and away from others. Often, spending time watching the stars at night and being optimistic about life.
After the Olive Plague and years of living in the new world, Cal has grown to be cautious and careful. First living on his own and later with a group. Cal had to learn the hard way how to survive on his own and without any safety net. Dealing with both friendly and hostile survivors. Even when he was apart of a group, he was still careful with people. Despite what has happened to the world and to his family, Cal can still be considered an optimist but will not always express or show it.
Spark: Two things keep Cal going and sane. One is that despite getting the Olive Plague and being one of the few to outlast it. Cal knows that he needs to live to prove to himself that things can get better, and he survived the Olive Plauge for a reason. Two is that while he knows it is a slim chance and she could be dead. That Cal can find and be with his sister again.
Skills: Studying as an aerospace engineer, Cal has knowledge about how aircraft and how they work. While this skill seems to be worthless in the post apocalypse. He does know how drones work and how to maintain them. Which he did managed to find and repair two drones and once the group set up a power source. Then, he can use them for recon and other scouting needs. Otherwise, Cal is good at driving and playing a guitar. Along with knowledge about the night sky.
Role: Cal mostly does manual labor in the group, but once they find a way to recharge the drones, he has. Then he can focus on using them for recon and scouting. Along with repairing any drones they can find.

Souls are viable, though obviously on the strong end of things once you get up there in terms of advancement. I’m good with it though. Lotsa scamming material with that. This world probably functions more with cycles of reincarnation than with afterlives n all.
Okay and so that will be my pick unless I think of something else.
As Isaac entered the apartment building feeling satisfied after finishing his morning jog. He was greeted by a friendly face at the front desk in the lobby and with a smile. "Hello, Robert, and good morning to you too." He stopped at the front desk and turned off his runner tracker. "I am doing fine and better than one person I saw today at Central Park, but how are you? Feeling good, I hope."
Isaac has never had a problem with Robert, and the man seemed like a nice guy in the two months of living at this place. Granted, he has not talked to the man much since living here, but no complaints so far. Hopefully, the bug that is apparently spreading around has not reached here, Isaac does not like the idea of coughing up blood like that poor homeless man at the park.

"Do not mention it. Just get something to help with that cough and get better." Isaac meaningfully said as the homeless left and headed to a pharmacy. It must be something bad if he was coughing up blood, even if it is a small amount, and hopefully, he can find something that will help. Maybe seeing a doctor would be better, and he did some sort of bug spreading around. Maybe that is what the homeless man has, Isaac thought to himself. Maybe he should check in if any of his staff are getting sick.
Now with the homeless man gone, Isaac looked down at his watch and seeing how he was good at getting back home at his normal time. He started jogging back to his apartment. This time, taking note of anyone who seems sick or coughing. The last thing he wants is to get sick with whatever is spreading around or worse. It spreading to his staff and customers, and he has to shut down the Twin Seasons. Going through Covid was bad enough as a chief, but now that he is a restaurant owner. It just makes him a bit concerned now after seeing that homeless man. Still, it may not be as serious as Covid and he may be overthinking it, but still.
Either way, he just focused on getting back to his place and trying to do the day normally.
"It is okay, and have a good day too." Isacc friendly said to the owner of the puppy and watched as they walked away. Which raised a question for him, should he get a pet? He had one growing up, a cat, and Isaac loved her. She lived for a long time, and he certainly can afford to have one or two at his apartment. "Maybe," he said to himself for a moment before turning to start to jog back to his apartment.
Only to find a scene of a loudly coughing homeless man being made fun of by some teenagers. Those kids just had to be cruel to that poor man. Isaac thought, stopped jogging, and watched the scene. It is bad enough that he is homeless and with that coughing. Isaac felt bad for the man and after the teenagers left. Isaac wanted to do something but was unsure what to do as the homeless man continued to cough.
So he had a thought and walked up to the homeless man. Isaac opened his wallet and gave the homeless a twenty-dollar bill. "Here is something to get some medicine for that cough and I hope you get better soon. Also, sorry about those kids, they do not know any better.
