She is desperate to achieve something specific, but she feels she does not have the power to do it. That's why she made a pact with something that made contact in her dreams. So her desperation triggered the patron to contact her and offer a deal. Power she needed for service.

The thing she wants is something personal, and something that seems impossible by mundane measures.

A younger sibling who disappeared in the sinister swamp? Or forest? Or mines? They might have been kidnapped, or just wandered off seeking 'adventure'.
The corpse turned into the black goo, and the only solid things remaining are its equipment.

What's Sir Shane's plan now?
I think she's going to be a hexblade warlock. I'd like to play this as a patron who actually demands stuff in return for the power it bestows. Kind of alternating between her using the power to pursue her personal agenda, then she gets a quest in a dream / vision / etc. and has to complete it to retain access to the arcane power.

The hexblade patron is supposed to be the Raven Queen, who is a dark figure, but is very strongly hateful of real undead and those necromancers that play with the natural cycle. Also, she is associated with dreams and visions, and collects them in some way. I don't remember why, but I have a vague memory of reading this.
Willow was a dozen yards back, getting up from the spot where she practically crawled. She still had lingering fear in her eyes, but was relatively calm. "Th ... thank you, si ... sir knight." she stuttered, as her father, Patrick ran frantically to comfort her.

Kyle's face was chalk-white, then he took a very deep breath and the normal color gradually returned. "You are a true knight, Sir Shane, and you have nothing to be shy about." He nodded several times respectfully, and started back to the church, in preparation of the cleansing ritual.
I've been thinking about the game where I would play, and I'd prefer playing D&D 5e to RP6, if that's ok for you.
In front of the knight, the moving dead soldier collapsed into a heap of rotten flesh, and within seconds it was reduced into the black goo that was seeping from him. The only solid things that remained were its armor and spear. And now that it wasn't moving, its armor seemed more than just some common soldier would be wearing. Once it had been very good quality, and Sir Shane could see the remains of fine decorations on it. This man must have been an officer when it was alive, but it had been a long, long time before.
Apparently, those endless hours of practice in the barracks weren't lost on the young knight, and with his precise strike he cleanly removed the head of the lurching horror. However, it somehow gathered enough memories of its own training while alive, and viciously swung his spear at Sir Shane the last moment of its unlife.

When the knight thundered past Willow, who was still frozen with fear, he could see what terrified her so much. It was a soldier, or it had been once a soldier. Now, it was a corpse in armor, wielding a spear. Nauseating black viscous goo was seeping from its many openings, as it was lurching towards the girl. Thankfully, though, Willow was now safe behind Sir Shane.

Ok, I'd like a roll for getting there in time. As usual, choose your power tags, and he has a -2 (Away-2) to the result.

Ok.
This is a Charge-type challenge, meaning it ends when your charge (Willow, in this case) is either safe or taken out. She is killed easily, being just a small child.

Sir Shane can either try to get there before the thing, or try to snap Willow out of her frozen state.

Because he's not very close, the knight has an Away-2 physical status. It will hinder him getting close in time, and it might or might not hinder him in other actions.
