I'm not saying anyone in England would care :P That's what would make it more fun.

I suppose that would fit in with Fallout's vibe quite well. A thumping nationalist who has absolutely no idea why he holds those views would fit well with the empty patriotism on display in the states.
@Sep@ClocktowerEchos But Caesar was one of the few literate members of the Legion, and it was only by chance he found a copy of the Comentarii de Bello Gallico, and he took great strides to prevent anyone else from knowing that their civilization had been based (rather inaccurately) on Rome. The specific tribal identities in America are very likely to be the twisted results of a culture originally designed by someone with a knowledge of history, but a history of which modern day tribals have no appreciation of. The NCR, too, was created by residents of Vault 15, and it was through them that democratic ideas survived, not through the active enfranchisement of citizens.

Aside from the Enclave, people seem to live extremely sedentary, subsistent lives, with little need or facility to care about any form of national identity, and those more civilised factions with some understanding of the past are the ones who tend to actively oppose the trappings that lead to war - abuse of technology(Brotherhood of Steel), nationalism (Caesar's Legion), and so on.

I'm sure some vague sense of Highlander isolationist attitude survived the Atomic bomb blast, but I wonder would they still identify southerners as "the English", or would anyone in England care in the slightest?

I'd have to wait to see the Cs, but as long as its not FECK OFF YA ENGLISH BASTARD it should be fine

Would that be relevant 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse? Most people would have little knowledge about England and Scotland, and know nothing about their history whatsoever, especially since most wouldn't be able to read. The vast majority of people would exist in isolated and ignorant communities - I can't personally see how any Scottish national identity would survive in any form.

I know you slapped down Wade for expressing his view, but I felt it bore mentioning.

The entire Fallout Series is actually pretty grimdark with what it implies or hides away.

I remember in New Vegas while playing through Old World Blues and stumbling into Little Yangtze and looking around. I though it was bad enough being basically a concentration camp for Chinese people until I saw that there were several desperate attempts all around the camp and how the bomb collars on the ghouls went off it they went out of the camp. And then I thought of all the shit the three remaining ghouls must have seen: brutally suppressed riots and escape attempts, harsh racist treatment that their own country put them under, seeing the people around them die of radiation or slowly turn into ghouls when the bombs fell and seeing their friends go "boom" when they took a step out of the camp.

I'd forgotten about that - it was a particularly harrowing sight for me as well, given how absurd the whole DLC was. I also found the school testing children for signs of communistic belief, in a sense, acting like Big Brother, frightening.

McKilty is by no means a legit Scotsman. He's what my American eyes see when I look at that general area known as Britain minus England.

Please, make a real Scotsman. I'm interested to see how the two would react to each other xD

Britain minus England would still leave Wales and Northern Ireland
@Kingfisher As a question, you already got one (But I was planning on making one) but what about another Scotsman? Being one I kinda wanted to make one but then one was already made...

I can think of another concept if need be.

You call that a Scotsman?
<Snipped quote by mpjama2>

You had me at Ghoulishly handsome.

Wade is technically right about the character tab, but I cant see him not getting approved.

<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>

I never actually enforced this, but I think Wade was quite keen to.

I've got no problem with self-aware ridiculous stereotypes, as Fallout has always been quite OTT in nature. Obviously if it undermines scenes that are sombre and serious in nature I'll be abit miffed, but in general I'm fine with it.

It's certainly OTT, but I always figured that it was as much to terrify as it was to satirize. The petty nationalism leading to the Enclave advocating genocide and eugenics, the chirpy Americanisms and posters talking about the perfect American, contrasted against the desolation of a nuclear-devastated world (like Fallout 1's intro), always struck me as a cautionary tale. It's creepy.

So I saw the bit about not making an offensive stereotype, and saw it as a challenge. I'm an American, and I'm trying to make a pre-war ghoul that used to be part of the British Secret Police. He's a ridiculous stereotype because I'd assume that going along with Fallout's themes of 50's conformity, the UK government would enforce a stereotype of a Model Citizen on its populace too. Just posted a WIP in the Character section, tell me what you think so far.

Fascist/far-right governments tend to be quite utilitarian about their populace and their requirements, rather than particularly twee about the idiosyncrasies of a country as a whole, or they tend to pass off utilitarian qualities as being intrinsic to their "nation". They wouldn't just A-Okay every sterotype.

That being said, there are quite a few repugnant groups around today, Britain First and the EDL, ""Skinheads", for instance, who lack any form of education and generally subscribe more to stereotypes and the glorification of "semantic patriotism" than other far-right groups. I can easily see this sort of person, a hateful individual, having that hate exploited and channeled into a sort of public-censor role such as you describe.
<Snipped quote by TTNoobs>

Well DC's the only one I knew was around before/during the 50's XD

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they were both created in the same year
<Snipped quote by TTNoobs>

*cough cough* her *cough cough*

And btw I didn't remember it being a bad thing to like both.

It isn't - I just found it amusing you having a marvel username and then only asking after DC.

Another question - is Detective Comics a thing? Because that'd be damn cool. If not, I can make a comic :)

Asks the guy with a Marvel character as his username?
@Sep

That's sort of the point. I tried to make a less serious character since I was I'd afraid I'd get too offensive if I made it serious. In short, I'm taking refuge in audacity. Second, he's based on an internet version of a character so I'd expect so xD

For your own sake - don't visit Scotland
