Current Boy, you're like a pizza cutter: all edge and no point.

I think I should write a pithy roleplay about how an expenditure of effort does not entitle you to your perception of an equivalent reward. Anyone know someone who'd be interested?

Okay, let's be honest for a second here, if we stop the status bar from being edgy angst land it really doesn't have anything going for it except sheer autism.

Does anyone know where you can get a white trilby embroidered with threatening messages? Asking for a friend.

The nature of tournaments was not one that could be described easily to a priestess who was the head of the military arm of her religion, but explanation or no she had been sent to participate and participate she would. Her first step on the island was in the forest to the north east, just by a river, and she wasted no time by preparing her Megumi no Fuujin immediately – without this crucial technique, much of her combat ability was rendered null and she was vulnerable to threats that she would not be when within the embrace of the Wind God.

It was safe to assume that she was not alone on the island, but a cursory glance around reminded Touho that the island was significantly larger than she had imagined her arena would be – her opponent could be nearby, but that was highly unlikely, and it was likely for the best if she stayed to the shadows until such a point as she could identify them.

Content to wait, Touho floated to the top of the nearby canopy – far enough back that the winds she commanded would not disturb the trees enough to give her position away and low enough down that seeing her would require some degree of searching. Her scope of vision was not immense as a compromise, but she would rather consider herself safe from an ambush than have perfect information.

It was not the way of the Windspeakers to hide, but measures had to be taken. Touho kept herself vigilant and prepared, awaiting some sign that her opponent was indeed on the island and was searching for her. It was only a matter of time, after all.
@Tuujaimaaokay! After work I will get going on fixing that

If you want the restrictions laxed, you can simply have ordinary bullets that are charged with electricity. That would be easier to justify.
@Silen Syanka: I'd like to see a fully fledged paragraph for the personality, as well as some more clarification on precisely what the pistol does.

Magic works as such: Everybody has an inherent "mana" pool that is quite small. The nature of magic in the world of Devil's Storm is mostly Alteration, imbuing physical objects with other properties, and that's what most people should focus on (Innue can give further clarification when he's feeling better). Crystals have their own "mana" pools which can be tapped into, and while they are not limitless they vastly enhance an individual's ability to cast spells.

For a weapon such as your own, I (personally) would expect a significantly more fleshed out history and personality with explanations as to how/why it was made, etc. because it's very similar to the style of weapon that myself and The Wanderer have elected to use. Ours are more complex than yours, so I wouldn't hold you to that standard, but I'd like to see a more in order to feel comfortable giving you a crystal to begin with.

Apologies for the delay - will get a post up tonight or tomorrow.
I'm a fairly abrasive person, and I am often far too quick to throw words around - in that you're correct. I'm sorry for having been offensive.

In this instance, I wasn't referring specifically to you. You have taken some of Innue's points on board and I laid you for at least having made the effort to try. It is something that a lot of people have not done.
This isn't a matter of opinion, this is a matter of:

Everyone understands the absurdity of superhuman abilities, even with numbers or lack of numbers behind them. And saying that guns are superior to Captain America x 5 characters because they have the potential to instantly kill them ruins the fun of it. Guns aren't high tier because nobody wants a fight to end instantly with a single gunshot.

It wasn't a problem before, because it was fun before.

I'd just like to point out:

Balance exists separately to having fun. Balance is necessary to prevent these "oneshot" situations from happening on a consistent and unavoidable basis, and the fun of combat certainly doesn't lie there (which I'm sure we can all agree on).

You are saying that Guns should not be a high tier because the user can choose to not kill someone instantly and that it wasn't a problem because you played for fun. When it comes to rankings and using points, do you genuinely think that some code of honour based on being fun will stop people from abusing inherently broken mechanics? The abuse is not always blatant, or sometimes intentional, but it exists because there is a legitimate disparity of power. That is the purpose of balance - to ensure that these disparities of power do not exist so that honourable combat can be undertaken with no risk of potentially abusable mechanics.

I agree with Innue on almost all of his points because we have been doing this sort of thing with one another for a long time and we both inherently belong to the same school of thought, and I am perhaps more inclined to agree with him than anyone else by association on certain topics. On this, however, I am being completely objective and free of bias:

This community is insular. It is so insular that challenging ideas are met with dismissal and "You do not have to play by our rules", rather than openly discussed and debated. It comes across as being a high school clique rather than a legitimate area of RP and that is a terrible shame because there are extremely creative and talented people here, and more people could join that community if it was not like it is.

@Araby264 and @Mike73 - You two can post with one another freely, but remember that time passes at an eqaul rate for all characters. Make sure you don't continue on without everybody or you'll risk your actions having to be rewritten, or worse, you could be killed. Conversation is largely fine and whatnot, but try not to take any actions ahead of the group timeline unless you are 100% sure that you want to.
Firearms fire projectiles at an exceptionally high speed.

Assuming a standard distance of fifty feet away from an opponent, firing a gun at them will cause the bullet to literally hit the opponent before they have time to process the reaction. Humanoids all have the fundamental flaw of having an absolute minimum reaction time based on their neurotransmitter-based biology, and guns exploit that incredibly well. The only thing one can do to avoid immediate death by gunshot is prepare a defense in advance.

I'd also like to point out:

Magic and Technology are not opposites. They are two methods of achieving the same goal - one of which is reliant on mana (or another energy that takes the place of mana) and another which is realiant on using non-mana sources. They are both simply methods of achieving an effect.
@The Wanderer: Hah. Nah, she'd likely just demand to know where you got it from and would generally be very scary - but she'll not hurt you unless you actually attack her.
As Glyph and Cipher looked upon the husk of the town, they began to see the state in which it was left for what it was: A massacre and a den of vile atrocity. It was not the most pleasant of thoughts, that was for certain, but it was one that Glyph has wrestled with many times over her years as a hunter and experience had both prepared her for and desensitised her towards the inevitable corpses of children that she would come across. Some of the new blood she’d spotted travelling towards the town would perhaps not be so experienced and wise. It had been a shock to her, the first time she’d seen a town ravaged by a horde, and she remembered the charred air and the scent of a metallic tang in the air to this day. It gave her no comfort to think that it had happened to another small town.

The first step was to stake out the town. She recognised a couple of key buildings by shape alone, and though she did not have a map, she could work out the most likely paths between them from her vantage point a good distance away from the town. She would likely have her scent picked up by the smaller ravagers prowling the outskirts of the town, but they were easy to kill. They moved predictably towards their prey unless they were older and wiser, and those that came with the hordes tended to be new blood. Fitting, she thought, that new blood from both sides met at this soon-to-be hellhole. It took a matter of twenty seconds of observation for a ravager to slink its way towards Glyph and Cipher, and though the woman atop the horse was intently gazing at the town for information, her right hand withdrew her crossbow and a single bolt of pure energy was released just as the demon began its leap, piercing it squarely through the head and killing it instantly. Cipher whinnied in response to the kill, and with her other hand Glyph gently stroked his mane. They knew there would be plenty more demons to kill soon enough.

The tower where the crystal was kept was of standard design. It was usually the first place that demons congregated at and was one of the few certainties within a small town like this one had been. Its location was slightly off-centre, and the buildings seemed to part at the correct angle to take advantage of this slight anomaly – it kept her view from the rest of the demons, at least, though the more primal newbloods tended to act based on scent over any of their other senses. She did not get a good look, but an ominous shadow of greater size than the other demons passed through her limited scope of vision, and she heard the slight graze of metal dragging across the ground. It was unlikely to be a hunter – few were simple enough to use melee weapons, and those that did kept them sheathed – and the size was roughly equivalent to that of one of the larger demons. A Juggernaut? A Punisher? Too small to be one of the Devastators. She would typically err on the side of caution and assume a Punisher, but something told her that a Punisher appearing this quickly and this closely to a ghost town was unlikely. They were not unintelligent creatures, and enough hunters could bring them down. They would fight on their own terrain if possible.

Though Glyph made no more direct movements, she kept herself ready. If newbloods were coming, better that they made stupid mistakes first. Culling demons and weak hunters was just a part of the hunt, after all.
