Azumi “Ami” Taketori

Early Morning || Konoha

The jonin led them to a training complex—one that Azumi had never been to before. At first glance, the course looked similar to many of the ones she’d gone through as a academy student, with fields, obstacles, and targets, but once they were closer Azumi saw the differences: this course was more advanced—higher steps, further distances.

“Y—yes!” Azumi stuttered when Ai called on her, her heartbeat in her ears as she stepped forwards to put herself between the obstacle course and her team.

It’s okay, Azumi. You can do this, she told herself firmly as she bent to a running stance and pulled out her kunai. Then—with one last, deep breath—she took off, launching herself smoothly over the sand pit and hurling her kunai at the targets past it. Thunk thunk—two hits and neither center, but Azumi was already bound for the next part of the course, transversing neatly over the wooden poles. Though she nearly tripped once or twice, she managed to keep up her pace until she reached the platform, where she paused, catching her breath as she watched for the pedulum’s pattern.

Four, she counted, pulling out another kunai. Then, at the second count of four, she was off again, passing the pendulum with a jump as she threw her kunai, which sailed smoothly past the target.

Azumi pulled up on the other side of the pendulum, stricken, but quickly shook off her shock. Pulling out another kunai, she lapped back, hurling it at the target as she passed the pendulum again, this time successfully hitting it, though off-center. Passing the pendulum a third time was as easy, and she was quickly through the gate and onto the second obstacle course, hopping from post to post, though with some brief hesitation on the longer jumps.

As she descended, though, Azumi didn’t see the first target until it was disappearing, and she quickly fumbled for a kunai as the second target appeared. Shame threatened to overwhelm her, but she pushed back, successfully hitting five of the six remaining targets.

Landing on the ending platform, Azumi bent over, panting as she looked at Ai and her teammates, zeroing in on Ai’s in particular. Had she disappointed the jonin already?

Masumi “Sumi” Rinha

Early Morning || Konoha

“Well she doesn’t set high standards,” Masumi said snidely to Minori. “You want to go next, or are we keeping the Azumi-me-you order?”
@Zarkun So... who's Jason battling? So confused haha

Ah, alright, never mind then haha. Misinterpreted things.
@Zarkun Wait you mean to a NPC, or to Dana? Either one works for me, and if you're talking about a Jason-Dana battle, maybe he could challenge her when he notices that her Combusken evolves (he can either be there right after it evolves, or I can set up a scene with her training it at camp), or she could challenge him after she sees his training at camp.

And sure, fine with me! But how do you want to decide the outcome of the battle then? See where posting takes us? (I'd be fine with Dana losing to Jason, since he's technically not a champion and therefore not measured in terms of points. Thus, losing to him would be more of a little humbling experience for Dana—though unlikely, since they're pretty much on equal ground right now after the devolutions).
@Balthazar007 Can I hold off on that challenger until Dana evolves her Combusken? Will probably be in 1-2 posts anyway.
Ardanata “Dana” Stamos

France || Headquarters || May 14th, Dusk

Tiffany’s bravado all but vanished as the battle progressed, and it quickly became clear that her team was no match for Dana’s. When the battle finally concluded—not too soon after it started either, since Dana’s Pokemon were used to ending things quickly—Tiffany returned her fallen Pokemon and aimed one last shaky glare at Dana.

“You really do think you’re all that, don’t you?” she accused, voice quivering as she clutched her Pokeballs close.

“You should probably get them seen to now,” Dana replied, meeting the glare coolly.

Tiffany didn’t need another warning after that, quickly disappearing down the hall, and Dana excused herself soon after. She’d proven that she was making progress, and that was all that mattered.

Egypt || Town Outskirts || May 17th, Midday

“Again,” Dana said. Her Combusken took off after another stray, knocking another Glameow down with ease. On account that her Combusken’s plumage was beginning to darken, Dana had decided to focus her attention on training it until it’s imminent evolution. Having her Blaziken back in full would be reassuring, especially with her name on the board.

A loud mreow of challenge sounded as a sizable Purugly rounded the street corner, tail lashing and curling.

Territorial, Dana thought, glancing at the Glameow gathering to watch. The strongest one, then.

“Combusken,” Dana said.

Her Combusken was instantly in front of the wild Purugly, its legs trailing streaks of dust through the air as it hurled forth a Sand Attack. The enemy Purugly, though, sprang out of the way, threatening a Fake Out that Dana’s Combusken narrowly dodged.

“Double Kick,” Dana said, watching as her Combusken turned to land the move. If it were a Blaziken rather than a Combusken, that Fake Out wouldn’t have even come to its waist, much less its eyes.

@Balthazar007 Combusken — Double Kick > Purugly, male, lvl 36
If Dana wins, she’ll throw a Pokeball

Camden Montero

Egypt || Town Square || May 17th, Midday

Egypt was much warmer than Camden was prepared for, with its blinding sunlight and searing heat. Even the breeze was warm—something that, though made sense intuitively, had never occurred to Camden quite like it did as he stalked through the square. He was willingly suffering the sweat and likely sunburns, though, for there was a name on the list of local Pokemon that he would lay down his life hunting, sun or not.

Eevee oh Eevee, where art thou Eevee, Camden thought, pausing at a bench at the edge of the street to pant. He'd chosen not to release his Pokemon due to the heat: Thea’s goth theme made zero sense in Egypt heat, and though Ruby would likely enjoy the harsh sunlight, Camden didn’t feel the need to summon a walking reminder that he was slower than a oversized cherry in the sun. Sure his pace had been a bit zealous for the first hour of searching, but he’d been fighting the urge to feel dejected after coming up with nothing but Skitty and Glameow all over town.

Pulling out his water bottle, Camden took a chug, scanning the rather empty square in front of him. Clearly the locals had more common sense than him.

As he moved to sit down on the bench, however, he spotted a tail—a brown tail.

No way, he thought, grinning as he pulled out Ruby’s Pokeball. But there it was—an Eevee dozing underneath the bench, clearly worn out from the sun.

Releasing Ruby, Camden made frantic shushing signals before pointing fervently at the resting Eevee. Ruby got the gist, nodding when Camden put his fist to his palm.

Might be a cheap shot, but I sweated for this opportunity, Camden thought, carefully backing away from the bench as Ruby laid his Leech Seed and readied himself for a Tackle. And I’ll be damned if I don’t get an Eevee out of this entire endeavor.

@Balthazar Cherubi — Tackle (supplemented by Chlorophyll ability) > Eevee, male, lvl 12
If Camden wins, he'll throw a Pokeball.
@Balthazar007 Would it be possible for you to post the HQ Pokemon lists on the 0th post? Flipping back through pages is a real pain, and it seems like this post is an important one.

// edit: also, am I allowed to have an NPC challenge Dana? This way, I get to characterize the NPC and write about the target on Dana's back.
@Balthazar007 Question: why didn't you have the Sharpedo use Poison Fang? I'm pretty sure it can use that at level 36, and that would have been effective against fairy-types like Clefable. Are the moves you pull random too??

//edit: also, darn, was going to characterize Tiffany as some minature barbie tyrant, but she lost so badly and she sounds so nice in your posts. Guess I'll lay off her attitude the next time I post...
@EnterTheHero @tobiax Going to have to drop out of this one, hope I didn't cause too much trouble.
