Okay! I had a bit of a distraction take me today. Never fear, the OOC thread will still come out tonight... Right after I finish watching the new Mandalorian episode. We're going for the Steampunk resistance! Thankfully, most of the world is already there as I archive all of my previous works. So I can spend my time working on this OOC fixing errors, updating to current lore, and extending it a bit, as well as fleshing out more of how things are going to work for the RP. If many of you are heading to sleep soon (which would make sense >.>), then you can expect to wake up to it tomorrow!

I'll wait a few more hours to see if anybody wants to put in any final interest votes. Looks like it'll most likely be Steampunk Resistance!

Blue Eyes to Blue Skies

(Mood Music)

Riley stared at the horizon where the ocean met the sky. The transition was almost invisible, save for the sudden break of a few errant clouds. It was beautiful, and it truly relaxed Riley. As her eyes traced further and further into the sky, the brilliant blue hue deepened until it was so dark that stars could just barely be seen. This was the view from so high in the sky, and Riley was addicted to it. Ever since she first flew, Riley found herself distracted by the majesty. On clear days, it was the blue gradient as she climbed. On cloudy days, it was breaching the floating white sea and seeing the rolling waves of slow moving airborne vapor. On stormy days, Riley would stare in awe at the towering black clouds as chaos and turmoil was unleashed within and below.

On foot, the sky seemed so... depthless. A cloud was just a two-dimensional image plastered on a blue canvas. A storm was just a grayish black blob that warned people of its arrival. To them, the blue sky was nothing spectacular. For pilots, everything becomes grander. Clouds are no longer just an object in the sky, but terrain to navigate both in depth and in height. Their structures were all unique, each cloud presented a different challenge when navigating around in combat. Titanic storm clouds can be seen from hundreds of miles away in the sky, and they can tower so high that they can't even be flown over by most planes. Storms were as impassable to pilots as land is to sailors. While doable, such things were ill advised. Riley found that the skies were far more dynamic than she ever anticipated.

"Captain Asher? Do you read? Come on Asher, talk to me. Hey Northstar!" a voice spoke loudly over the radio.

Riley was swept out of her reverie, making her jump a little in surprise. "Northstar, go ahead." she replied hurriedly.

She turned her head off to her starboard side, seeing a pair of CF-18's flying in formation off of her wing. The name under the canopy read 'Captain 'Whiskey' Thompson'. She could see the other pilot making a hand gesture as he spoke, "Did you doze off or something, Northstar? That's not like you."

"Just taking in the sights. When was the last time we flew somewhere that wasn't a warzone?" Riley asked.

"Good question, Northstar," there was a pause, "I never really thought about it."

Riley nodded. During her time flying in K.W.II, the view was always stained with pillars of black smoke, engine trails of maneuvering fighters, and bleak skies of looming monsoons. Beyond that, Riley was often far too preoccupied with not getting shot down to really take in the sights above Korea. "Too long then," she said to Magic.

There was a long moment of silence as they flew. Riley tried not to distract herself with the view, and instead focused on the readouts of her HUD. She double checked the map in the laminated leg pocket, making sure she was still on course. It wasn't much longer until a small black streak could be seen coming over the horizon. "There it is."

It was the Grey Ghost, Shadow Flight's floating home away from home. She heard a breath of relief through the radio. "Finally. I've been holding in a piss since we lifted off from Eglin Airforce Base."

Riley chuckled, "I told you to go before we took off. But I firmly remember you saying there wasn't any need since we'd be landing in an hour." She looked back at the CF-18 Magic was flying. He was making a 'yapping' gesture with his hand.

"Yeah yeah. Hindsight is twenty-twenty alright." he said.

Riley grinned, "Hm, I kind of like that one. Maybe Hindsight should be your new nickname."

Another voice chimed in, the pilot of the other CF-18. "I am all for that! I'll make sure it gets painted on his fuselage when we get back to base!"

"Oh no, you shut your mouth, Trap. Nobody is rebranding my baby." Magic said with some exasperation in his voice.

With the Grey Ghost in visual range, it wasn't long before the traffic controller aboard the ship radioed them. "Unidentified aircrafts, this is the ADCS Grey Ghost, you are entering restricted air space. Identify yourself and state you intent, over."

Riley responded quickly, "Grey Ghost, this is Captain Riley Asher of the Canadian Air Force. I have transfer orders to Shadow Flight aboard your vessel. Requesting permission to land."

There was a pause for a moment, but the voice eventually returned, "Captain Asher, please transmit your orders immediately, over."

Riley did so, and a few seconds later, the traffic controller continued, "Captain Asher, this is Grey Ghost. These orders are for one pilot, but we are seeing three planes. Clarify your intent, over."

"Grey Ghost, my squadron OC assigned two fighters to escort me to the R.V. They need to land, resupply, and will be then immediately departing, over."

There was another long pause before Riley got a return, probably just the command team of the ship looking further into Riley's flight plan, which thankfully had information on her escort detail. "Confirmed, Captain Asher. Permission to land has been granted. Flight deck crews are ready to receive you, over."

"Understood, Grey Ghost. Making my approach now, over."

Personality
Riley is a proud woman. She maintains a level of professionalism around others that might make her rather intimidating. She loves flying, and finds that she can relax when in the cockpit. Riley doesn't like slackers or complacent workers. While she too understands the value of rest and relaxation, she is all business when at work. Riley is the type to not miss a detail when receiving orders. She doesn't care for competition among her peers, and chooses to show her skills through her performance.

Personal History
Growing up, Riley always wanted to fly planes. However, her vision had always stopped her from being able to get into the cockpit of a fighter. She was always bullied in her younger years for being 'four-eyed' and 'blind'. She wasn't that blind, but her parents always insisted she wear glasses, thinking that there was just too much risk with contact lenses. Being picked on made Riley want to get back at her bullies. She learned how to defend herself with some entry level Taekwondo classes, which helped boost her confidence, and earned her some respect after winning a local tournament.

When she was seventeen, her parents allowed her to join the Canadian Armed Forces. Riley's first choice for a position was, naturally, being a pilot. Of course, Riley's vision had decided the outcome, and she soon found herself going to basic training as a non-commissioned member bound for the army. Riley was sent to the Armoured Corps, where she would eventually become an armoured reconnaissance trooper. Riley proved to be quite good at her job, and she was content with that. Still, her desire to fly burned inside of her. She was given a small bone when she was trained to operate aerial reconnaissance drones for her squadron, which satisfied her for the time being. Riley stuck around as a member of the armoured corps for ten years, and had made the rank of sergeant by the time she was able to afford some laser eye surgery to correct her vision. During her time in the armoured corps, Riley had been deployed to fight in the second Korean war, where she managed to halt a company's advance with artillery from her well concealed observation post. The mission was expected to break out into combat, and the codeword for that moment was 'Northstar'. Riley was the one who declared Northstar, and from her well concealed observation post, was able to call down accurate artillery fire and CAS strikes on an advancing enemy company. By the end of the operation, Riley and her dismounted patrol was responsible for bringing the enemy to a grinding halt at a river crossing, which allowed time for allied forces to mass enough forces to capture the river, and push further into enemy territory. Riley was first scolded for being the one to declare Northstar, as usually such things are declared after a decision in the higher ranks was made. But after seeing the result of her decision, she was let off. The members of her squadron started calling her Northstar, mainly as a way to stick it to the chain of command.

After her deployment, Riley was able to get laser eye surgery. With her eyes fixed, Riley put in for an officer's transfer to become a fighter pilot. The process was long, but eventually she was approved. Riley was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant, and shipped off for additional training. Thankfully at that point in her career, a lot of the subject matter new officers had been trained in was stuff she knew already, so the transition was quite easy. Once Riley finished her flight school training, she was made a lieutenant, and assigned to a fighter squadron bound for the Korean war. She found herself back on the Korean peninsula, but this time she was looking down at the fighting instead of being in it. Riley's passion was still so strong even after a decade of being in the army, and it seemed that her passion came with a natural talent for flying. Within a month of being deployed to Korea for her second time, Riley managed to achieve ace status, since her flight was constantly sortieing out as a QRF to areas where enemy air power was seen crossing into allied airspace. By the end of her deployment, Riley made the rank of Captain, and she had shot down twelve North Korean MiG-29's, and three Chinese J-10's.

The war was cut short when the asteroid hit. Canada pulled its forces from the Korean peninsula to ensure the safety of its own borders, which were now in shambles after the cataclysm. While her squadron remained in Canada in the months after the impact, Riley found herself being assigned to a new multi-national squadron, more specifically, its elite flight of renowned aces. Canada wasn't able to provide her a plane of its own, as the country's fleet was always quite small. But they did have a handful of captured MiG-29's from the Korean war. She was always impressed by the engineering in Russian aircraft, so she gladly accepted one of the MiGs. As a token of appreciation, her flight crew had retrofitted the North Korean MiG with more modernized parts, bringing its performance to peak levels, limited only by the aircraft's capabilities.

If I can throw in my opinion, I'm really curious to see your established steampunk world. I've also been craving a good new RP lately so really most ideas sound pretty good.

This is a few years old now, but it has all the lore of the world in the Codex if you're curious. Keep in mind that since that thread is so old, that some of the pictures might be broken, and some of the information is going to be a bit out of date. But at least you can look deeper into what that RP can possibly look like if it turns out to be the setting of choice.

Looking like a space mecha epic is leading! The votes will end by Friday, then I will start working on an OOC Friday night for whichever setting wins!
Cool, I'll put up a CS after work today :D
Hey hey! It's been a while since I've pitched some ideas to GM! I've been having a mad craving to do some RPing on here. Since I've only got one RP on the go currently, I have room to add another! I have many ideas, so I'll just make this one post to put forward a few ideas I've had swimming around in my head. So here we go!

Military Mecha in Space (4 Votes)
So this one is fairly straight forward just by the title alone. It's a military RP... in space... with mechs. Yes it's that simple. We're going for high power robot action in zero-G with big inspirations being Gundam, Macross, and Zone of the Enders! I want grit, I want jargon. This craving spawned from reading back to an old RP that I loved that featured all of these things.

Armored Core
Yup, you read that right. Straight up Armored Core, set around the same period as AC4 and For Answer. This is a post apocalyptic mech RP set on an irradiated earth, ruled by mega corporations and fought over by mercenaries. This is a bit more high speed than the other mech anime in this list of pitches, with mechs that break the sound barrier in the blink of an eye! The tech here is a bit more fantastical, and far more dangerous.

Steampunk Resistance Fighters(This RP has been voted, and an OOC has been made)
I have a world that has been my baby for almost a decade, if not more by now... It's been a long time, let's just say that. Anyways, it has tons of established lore, and one of the many things that can be done with it, is be used for fighting as a resistance against an overpowering occupying empire. It's steampunk with some twists and turns that really sets the world apart from other steampunk settings. This one can either be handled entirely freeform (as is the traditional form of RPing on RPG), or it can have some more 'game-y' established rules.

Near Future Fighter Pilots
Oh yeah, we're basically going Ace Combat on this one. Our characters are fighter pilots from a variety of countries! A mysterious new threat has hacked into the world government's drone network and has taken over. It's up to the pilots to go back to good old manned flights, and take the fight to the drones in the sky!

Saving a dreamworld
The credit for this one can't go to me. The idea and world this would be set in is HEAVILY inspired and based off of a very close to my heart RP on the Guild that took place long before the Guildfall. The protagonists are from all over the world, they are social rejects, or just have been dealt a poor hand in life. When they all go to sleep at the same time, they all wake up together in a hut, cast away in a mysterious fantasy land. They don't know how they got there, or even where 'there' is. All they know, is that they're somehow chosen ones, and have an arsenal of superhuman abilities to stop a great cataclysm from befalling the world. Then, when they go to sleep in the dreamworld, they wake back up in the real world. Things begin to blur to them, and it doesn't take long before they're trying to connect with one another in reality.

Ocean Planet Explorers
This one has a bit of a different tone to it. It's more slow burning. More suspenseful. More dramatic! We're all scientists, security experts, doctors, tech whizes, and entrepeneurs. Mankind has expanded to the stars, and they have come across an ocean world that is rich with resources and biodiversity. Think subnautica on this. The characters are tasked with taking a large submarine and exploring a newly discovered trench in the ocean floor. It is so deep that not even high powered scans from orbit can reach the bottom. Stranger yet, there seems to be strange signals coming from it. Things go wrong, and we all get stranded in the sub, sinking deeper and deeper into alien depths. There's horror. There's violence. And there's more...

Fantasy Ice Age
A magical calamity has frozen the world over. The remnants of mankind have retreated underground, using geothermal vents to keep warm. There is no telling if this ice age will ever end. But one thing is certain, deep in the coldest wastes is a magical nexus that is the source of the cold. If it can be tamed, then the world might thaw. The only problem is... It is deep inside the territory of a savage race of creatures that are immune to the cold. Mankind's heroes must lead an expedition into the frozen wastes to put an end to the freezing. Everything is at stake, and humanity is willing to put everything on the table to put an end to it.

Japanese Steampunk(1 Vote)
The Hokai Empire is powerful and advanced. It has expanded far into foreign lands thanks to its technological advancements. But it has grown too large, and now the empire is fracturing from within. Worse yet, the assimilated peoples have begun to rise up against the Shogunate, and the threatened neighbors are seemingly preparing for war. The Shogun has gathered a team of heroes and huntsmen to find an extinct species of animal, long thought to be extinct, and return it to him. Having such an awesome creature would surely give the Shogun the necessary strength to stabilize his empire. There's one caveat, returning empty handed means certain death. Good luck finding something that doesn't exist!

Let me know what you guys would like to see! If you have any questions about any of these settings, please don't hesitate to ask! I am also open to other pitches, or modifications to these ideas even. Please put your interest below! I will tally up the interest and hopefully have a setting picked by Friday!
Caaan I throw my lot into this? This is tickling my fancy so much right now.
