I come from a role-play community where spontaneity and collaboration were the keys to success, where free-form, open-ended RP was the name of the game. Character destinies weren’t predetermined; they weren’t fated to start as enemies and end up as lovers. Instead, relationships developed organically over multiple RPs spanning months, all while the world moved around them and they adapted to those changes—for better or worse. More importantly, players weren’t hurt, angry, or outraged if another player chose a different path for their character. If that was what felt right, then that was the story that unfolded.

I’ve tried taking requests, molding my character around my partner’s preferences, and reading from scripts. But it felt like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I already knew the outcome of the RP, and I found myself asking: Why even bother?

Other times, my partner would use our agreement that our characters were "fated" to end up together as an excuse for their character to act without conscience or remorse. Slaughter a whole village? Perfectly reasonable for a grief-stricken, misunderstood anti-hero with a tragic past. And when my character balked? My partner would wag their finger in my face.
"Nuh-uh-uh. You agreed to a romance RP! You're breaking RP etiquette! Your character needs to understand what he did, tell him it’s not his fault, and reassure him that everything will be okay."

I want to make one thing very clear: I’m all for structure. Pick a genre—I can world-build for hours on end. I’m absolutely fine working toward a common goal or playing within a structured plot, no matter how wild. "Stop the evil overlord from completing a ritual and raising an army of Jurassic skeletons to take over the world?" Sure. I’m in.

What I don’t like is being treated like a personal workhorse. I will not play a character tailored to your preferences. I will not write in a specific style or tense just because you prefer it. I will not post X times a day or within a certain number of hours regardless of what’s happening in my life. And most importantly, if I bring a concern to you and you use our RP agreement as a bludgeon or a guilt trip, don’t expect to hear from me again.

Respect me, and you’ll find that I’m a reasonable, open-minded, and kind individual. If I have a concern or if something makes me uncomfortable, I will bring it to you. If I lose interest in an RP—or in RPing with you at all—I will let you know. If I need to be away for more than a couple of days, I’ll give you a heads-up when I can.

I’m open to RPing with anyone, regardless of skill level, and across a variety of settings. My favorites are medieval high fantasy and urban fantasy, and I’m even willing to DM for my personal setting—a gritty high-medieval fantasy world with a nuanced magic system. I also have friends, some on this site and others elsewhere, who are eager to join games, add to the madness, and bring more depth to the experience.

I love:
• Realism
• Original settings
• Historical settings
• High fantasy
• Gritty combat
• Groups of three

I’m okay with:
• Unoriginal settings (anime, comics, video games, etc.)
• One-liners
• Novella-style RP
• Power fantasies (play God for all I care)
• Self-inserts
• Combat-heavy RPs
• Slice-of-life RPs
• My partner playing unoriginal characters
• Furries
• 1-on-1 RPs, as well as groups of four or five
• Discussing and sharing stories about our characters (so long as it’s not an all-day affair)
• Rolling dice to determine the success of actions that can fail

I struggle with but am open to:
• Large groups (6+ players)
• Playing unoriginal characters (I’ll try, but my success may vary)

I’m not okay with:
• RPs where every outcome is predetermined

Hello and welcome! I hope to see your creativity flourish here.
Hi, it's nice to meet all of you! I'm Aradia; I'm chatty, love making friends, and have been roleplaying for over fifteen years! Unfortunately, the site I used to play on died, so I had to find a new roleplay hub. And well, here I am! As mentioned, I enjoy chatting, asking questions, brainstorming, and worldbuilding. My favorite genres are action/combat, adventure, fantasy, horror, and modern, but I'm usually up for anything and very adaptable. The Arena drew me here; I've never seen a forum encourage combat RP before, and I spent hours reading dozens of the threads there!
