@OnionKnight Any introspect? Or just good with Yes?
@manapool1 That's great. I normally have way too much info for my world/DM notes that never gets to see the light of day.
@Denduris Olla, please forgive me but I don't recognize your username. (^^)
Otherwise, thank you for the input. Warrhammer most likely won't be happening, much as I'd be interested in it, and would very much like the PDFs. It's more of a I'd be lost beside knowing that I love Orks. XD
To everyone else. I think I have a good fist of the community. And enough interest to start a proper project. I'll be making a thread on this later today/week.
Name: Aleister Greyson Sex: Male Culture: English/Frencg Age: 32 Physical Description: Aleister is a surprising tall and intimating man at about 193cm (6'4ft) tall, with broad shoulders, and a powerful and well honed build. Oil black hair, left long but tied back with little regard. When let loose its a streak of straight black hair that runs down to the middle of his back, and spills dramatically over his shoulders. With a slightly pronounced jaw line, green eyes, and thick eye brows his face is impressingly handsome, if boyish at times. Never one for a beard his face is always clean shaven, and nothing less seems to be excepted by him, as his face is always bare and bald, even of stubble. Rumor has it the boy simply can't grow a man's bread and shaves religiously to hide a humourously patched over chin.
When his hair his down, and a bald face, his boyish face goes from handsome to pretty. If not for his hieght, broad shoulders, and muscler build he could pass for a woman if even forced into a dress. He might kill you for it though, being called a woman or girly gives him a fair degree of salt.
Other marks of note. Over his left eye rest a once rather nasty burn mark. Years of treatment have lessoned the scaring, but its ugly reminder remains. The mark covers the entirety of his left eye and a large portion of the upper left of his face. His eye still works, lucky.
The rest of his body is also covered in a variety of lesser burns, and scars. Most from earlier childhood, others from battle and training.
Occupation/Skillset: A skilled mercenary, holding pride with a shield and mace, horse back riding, and hedgemagery. Brutality complemented by a harsh and skilled tounge, even if slow to speak and quick to listen. Aleister is a pro at physical intimidation, sullen and sarcastic wit, with very perceptive and alert sense of self and surroundings. If it helps to keep him alive, its a skill hes put time into. Adding to this theme of thought he has taken time to master survival while in the wild(hunting, fishing camping, ext), basic feild wound care, local customs (if possible and required/requested), a basic grasp of current history and political affairs of both local and afar. It helps to know whoses willing to pay for your services.
As a Hedgemage Aleister has mastered the basic Arcane principles, along with a whole host of what he considers Utilitarian magics. Most of these are weak but helpful, like mending a rip in a shirt, detecting other magics in the area, setting up a small magical boundary that alerts him when crossed, and so on and so forth. His real talent lies in warding and protective magics, along with the ability to disrupt others and tear down magic already in place. This is also his main selling point. A guard with the ability to protect a cilent from both sword, shield, and harsh traveling conditions.
Personality: Aleister is know for few things outwardly. Those are being feriously loyal to his contract, quiet and sullen when with others, a man of little to no drink when on the job, physical intimidating but verbally non-threatning to non hostiles, and personally guarded. Greyson is a tough, unsociable nut to crack. But their is a person under the gruff exterior. The majority of Aleister's personality and logic come from fear. Fear of death, fear of loss, fear of love, fear of failure, and fear of being forgotten. His line of work is stressful, and requires great mental and physical fortitude, yet it keeps him free, and allows him to keep moving forward. In the end hes a man running from his fears, and doesn't know it. Beyond that he has a soft spot for wemon and children, and a protective nature. He tries to hide this with harsh tones and words, but actions speak louder than words to those who listen.
Backstory: Grayson, as his name implies, came from a family of English stewards left in the care of French lands some generations ago. Originally tasked with caring over ports. By multiple marriages Aliester was eventually born to small land owning family. Minor noblity at best, peasant lords at worst. Aleister would have been raised a normal child, possibly sent off to squire for a knight in hopes of achieving a better lot in life, but instead his home was burnt down in a fire during winter. Aleister was left a only child, with no family to truly call his own and began the long road of life by joining up with a Free Company. They tuaght the boy how to live, and raised him well to man hood. But like a comedy of the Gods his new home cuaght flame yet again one dry summers night. Aleister flead and lived, but most others weren't so lucky. The rest settled down with what they had left, or died from a string of bad luck that had befallen the Company. In time, all that was left was one. Aleister never joined a Free Company after that and instead began to work solo. Mainly as a guard for Nobility, or a simple town guard during festivities. He had also been know to tackle small bandit camps, and provide insight onto the workings of anti-Routier tatics. As it turns out, Nobility are more willing to hire a private guard when that guard is distant family, so Aleister has never hurt for work. Over the last few years he has taken a somewhat steady job of protecting a young lord. Mostly pity work given to him by distant family, but it has let him establish more distinct contacts in the French court. [@
@KazSinderia826 I already know what you like you edgelord. XD Debating the GAZ stetting. Since the vote seems to go towards high fantasy, then sci-fi.
@manapool1 Could you define your idea of Nation/World building?
And I'm fine with MinMaxing, long as the characters make sense and don't act out accordingly from their stats and back grounds. The Orc Barbarian with 6 INT should not be quoting Shakespeare.
...unless their doing it horrendously inaccurately. That be hilarious. Have high CHA, people are messmerized by the experience and talk about this stranger with green skin telling the most wonderful of tales of the bard Shakes Spear.
With a lot of DM work, and homebrewing. But it can be done. Who knows. Could save Pyrah, but you might end up killing Ruby. And Jaune can't get laid, Its a fixed point in time, I'm sorry.
@0 Azzy 0 Thank you. At this point I have an itch for Sci-fi as well. Not sure how the rest of the community is feeling yet.
I'm going to be waiting for more replies before I start compiling data and mulling over best campaign idea. Ideally I want at least four to five peoples responses, enough for a small group at least.
This is more or less a general interest check on a few ideas. Writing level would be Casual, to near one liners depending on situation. Might work in Discord depending on what people here like.
So, question time!
1. Discord or no for conversations that don't require a lot of extra writing between naritive?
2. Space and aliens sci-f, High Fantasy world wide adventure, or horror, death, and suspense?
3. Preferences of Combat, Exploration, Role-playing, Moral Dilimas, Puzzle/Traps, Crime, Murder Hoboing, Meta-Gameing, Power Gaming, Politics, and War/Nations. Just list your favorite 3 or 4, and maybe give me some insight as to why.
4. How active do you like NPCs to be? Do you like having them in the party or at least strong enough to survive following the party, or do you prefer them to stay on the side lines so the PCs can enjoy all glory? Maybe a mix? Why?
5. Bigger or smaller groups?
6. Homebrew cool?
I think that's all. If I run anything here it will all be original work. I might run a RWBY setting if convinced.
EDIT
So after my 4 month hiatus from lack of reliable internet its time for my grand rebirth.
After viewing the surveys most of you guys seem to...
1. Be so so with Discord for OOC. This idea won't be scraped unless by popular vote of my cast. The campaign itself will also potentiality sway this.
2. Fantasy seems to be the overarching way to go for this community. Ill work on refining this after getting together a cast.
3. Heavy role playing. Seeing as this is on a role playing site I'm shocked. Really. I expected nothing but per number guys. XD
Combat, exploration, power gaming, and nation/world building came in as the next most important stuff. This is fine.
4. NPCs will be minor charters for the most part, but able to hold their own if required as required by plot. So legendary heroes can kick ass, noble prince/ss to rescued can't.
NPCs can join the party at the cast discretion and be helpful, but should never over shadow them as much as support them.
5. Really mixes reviews here. But I'm feeling a smaller group. 3 - 5 people.
6. Homebrew is a go. Trust nothing. Muhahahaha. I Homebrew more or less 70% of my campaigns. I've gotten damn good at balancing stuff. So no worries.
If people want to play a homebrewed race and/or class I'm willing to work with you. But anything Homebrew is subject to DM discretion and changes. If it came from Dandiwiki expect me to nerf it with the fist of an angry god.
RWBY won't be happening.
That all said Im now going to start crafting a campaign for you guys. All still interested feel free to sign up. Id like for you to at the very least be able to post once a week. Even if its just a few lines to let us know your character has gone to sleep or is standing back to watch things unfold.
Once I have a few people we'll talk details about characters you might like to play, or settings you might like to explore.
