I am guessing this is after Yavin IV?

Between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, yeah.
I’ve got an inquisitor character I could throw together.

I'll have to see the character first as, so far as I've found in searching for the specifics of what happened to the Inquisitors, they sorta just...vanished by A New Hope. I can legitimately find no clear answer as to where they went.
So would we be playing as members of the Empire?

Ideally, I'd have players on both sides of things.
A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Or maybe not so far away…

During a routine patrol of the borders with Wild Space by the Galactic Empire’s 33rd Border Control Fleet encountered a pair of unrecognized and unregistered fighter-class ships scanning the Teth System from its outer edge. Due to reports from earlier in the conflict known as the Galactic Civil War about the Rebel Alliance designing, building, and deploying new fighters, the fleet’s Moff ordered a small group of TIE/IN Interceptors deployed to handle the assumed prototypes before the Rebellion could get them back. To the shock of everyone present, both fighters reacted quickly, with one vanishing into what the Imperials assume to be hyperspace while the other quickly reaches attack velocity.

Without any attempt at communication, the Interceptors opened fire on the fighter, only to be outmaneuvered by it. The enemy fighter proceeds to wipe out the squadron of Interceptors with no discernible damage to itself, and with an unidentified weapon type, before it too heads into hyperspace, following its companion. Sending out a call to Imperial Command for reinforcements, the Border Control Fleet tracks their heading along what appears to be an unregistered hyperspace route to an unexplored system deep in Wild Space. Suspecting Rebel Activity, perhaps even the Rebel Headquarters itself, the Emperor dispatches Death Squadron, Darth Vader’s personal fleet, alongside the Imperial Fourth Fleet to finally quell the rebellion and secure a future of peace and prosperity for his Empire.

So I will drop the rest of the lore if I can get a handful of interested players here. I bring before you a new twist to an old story. Will you join me for the ride?
Spartan Lucas Ryker

Having set up just behind one of the few rocks actually sticking up on the ridge, Ryker set his shoulder against the back of it along with resting his DMR against the side, aiming at the doorway he could see. The others had all set up with their own lines of sight for the crossfire, so as soon as their resident demolitionist blew the charge, they'd begin. As he waited for Grikgar's confirmation and the boom, time seemed to slow down for the SPARTAN-IV, even as the Unggoy's verbal confirmation came in. This was a key mission, he would help here to shut down the turret, kill it's crew and then follow up with oversight to find out if he was to remain with the team or move on the Zealot that had been mentioned in Sydney during the briefing.

However, as the bomb went off and the tower listed, he focused back in on the mission. The first enemy Unggoy out was dropped by someone on the other side, and soon he could see Sangheili and Kigyar running out as well. Noting one of the Sangheili with weakened shields, his silenced DMR fired, the muzzle flashing once as the round pierced shield and brain at the same time. The next muzzle flash dropped one of the Kigyar as it turned to fire on a carbine wielder on Aegis. This proceeded methodically, his muzzle never flashing more than once per target. However, they could only fire from the ridgeline for so long and eventually he radioed Vael. {Permission to move into close range combat, Commander? This will only work for so much longer.}

Looking around as they walked, the transition from the outer woods to the Deep Woods was practically impossible to miss as the lighting around them slowly faded. After a while, it was only just bright enough for them to barely see and, as a precaution, Jason let Slayer out of his ball, keeping the Ralts close by. His Pokedex continued to outline which of the visible 'mon were which and when it was done, all it did was put him on edge. All these bug types...fortunately, Slayer has his Fairy typing to help resist, but still... Nevermind that he knew enough about Spinarak to know that its larger evolution, Ariados, was likely lurking somewhere nearby as well. Couple that with the angry Beedrill, the myriad of webs, the many pitfalls and the poor lighting and it was hardly a surprise this guy didn't want to come in here alone.

Glancing around again, he eventually sighs. "I'm going to guess this thing has some incredible cutting power with all the webs floating around in here. What exactly is it you're all thinking it is? Scyther comes to mind if we're talking cutting power."
In the year 2015, Humanity experienced one of the single most dreaded, yet highly anticipated, events of its existence; first contact with an extraterrestrial race. Unfortunately for all the UFO enthusiasts out there, it wasn’t the friendly “We come in peace” they’d always hoped for, instead more along the lines of “Take me to your leader.” Except there was no little grey alien holding a ray gun, at least not at first. What came to be known as the Invasion War opened with a series of pods landing in a German city. Curious civilians approached the first of the crashed objects just as it activated, causing widespread panic. Germany sent in a recon team by helicopter, which went down after coming under fire from unknown assailants. As a result, a squad from the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit, or XCOM, which had been formed by the Council of Nations in the event that an alien invasion occurred, was dispatched.

Upon arrival at the scene aboard the Skyranger, what they found was nothing short of a massacre, with civilians trapped inside a strange green webbing, likely released by the pods, and the unit wiped out, with, as far as could be ascertained, no survivors. At least until the first message was received on the radio. “Hilfe” it had said, which Doctor Vahlen translated to mean “Help me.” Delta squad moved in, finding one member of the recon team torn apart like he’d been attacked by a wild animal and another dead from something exploding from inside his body, eviscerating him. Inside was the established standard operating procedure’s birth when it came to dealing with the Aliens, after a Sectoid Commander used its mind controlled meat puppet to kill a member of the squad, the other aliens were engaged and killed with extreme prejudice. The Extraterrestrials had just made it very clear that they weren’t interested in peace.

The Invasion War lasted for around twenty years, with Humanity facing severe casualties early on in the war. XCOM proved to be the most proficient fighters...

This RP takes place in something of an Alternate Universe from the timeline we got going from Enemy Unknown/Within to XCOM 2. In this story, humanity won and advanced after forcing the invaders off of our world. I'll take a small group, I'll take a large group, but I'm hoping this draws some interest either way. The above paragraphs are a bit of a sneak peak into the history of the RP from the point we'd be picking up in. Just, uh, let me know if you're interested by posting here. This is attempt number two after the first died due to vanishing members. Come have a grand time!
Just a soft bump to get this back up there for those who needed a reminder. Looking at dropping another IC here in the near future, MAYBE garner some new blood to join us.

Nodding an affirmative to the plan their commander decided on, Lucas joined Aviza and Yalu in heading up to the western ridge. His DMR wasn't quite suited to this kind of bad weather fighting, but they should be close enough that his shots wouldn't be overly affected by the wind speed. Glancing at the others, he grins behind his helmet at the sight of Aviza's sniper rifle. WIth that, the plan should go over well enough. "So, how do we want to space out?"
Jason Connor

Deeper into the forest huh...Well, they aren't even sure, so that'll prevent double crossing us and leaving us lost in there for days...Not got a better choice. Nodding to himself and putting a hand on Connor's shoulder to try and calm him down, Jason steps forward and offers his hand. "I'll be happy to escort you into the Deep Woods, though I can't speak for my compatriot here, but first lets just clarify a few things. Trainers aren't adrenaline junkies. Well, most of us anyways. The easiest way to make sure the populations are recovering right now is to be out doing the field work and that's dangerous work. Also, wouldn't kill you to loose the attitude, we're not here to pull the rug out from under you. We understand this is important to you as well and wouldn't dream of taking your chance at it away."

He holds up a hand to shake, a sideways smile on his face. "So, if you're good with all that, then I'm good to escort you." This was probably their best bet at finding out exactly what it was that these maniacs were chasing and that the rumors were talking about. Knowing this was a rare bug type even before Cipher's crimes...that sincerely raised the stakes and just getting visual confirmation would be great, with catching it being something of a bonus.
