Seriously, I'm a terrible person. Still trying to get used to my work schedule, it's left me with (what I perceive as) little time in the evenings. Sorry for holding up the boat, I'm working on a post and it should be finished soon (today?).

Haha. As I read through them again, I've developed a ranking order of my favorites. Marco tops it, followed by Tobias and Ax, then Cassie, Jake and then Rachel. I don't know if it's that the ghost writers butcher Rachel or she just gets really terrible books, but I never really enjoy reading her perspective very much. Same with Jake since the Applegate/ghost writer switchover.

Marco, however, has actually improved, so there's that.

I remember how I used to have opinions about those little people, but then I read a book from Ax's perspective and abruptly I wanted nothing more than to continue reading books on Earth from an alien's viewpoint, and I was like 'Who are these fuckers, go back to the aliens' and the books are like 'no'.

As far as Ax goes, he's pretty ok. Probably not my favorite character (Hello Crayak), but his viewpoint is markedly entertaining to read even when things have gone to crap.

Captain, if you'd like, we can just say that Theo was shocked into silence and I can post again. Not that I'm hurrying you or anything, it's just that I know how sucky it feels when you're the one holding things up; that way, you'd have another round of posts to start composing your own. If you'd rather not, that's completely alright, it was just a thought.

Ax was always my absolute favorite character. I always found reading him thoroughly enjoyable; it's one of the reasons that I wanted to play an andalite character. I really liked Rachel, too, because she was unique from most characters I'd read as a kid. I liked Tobias, but his angsting could get on my nerves sometimes. Marco was great, Jake was usually really boring to me, and I went back and forth on Cassie. I liked her at first, but I hated how she kept up bringing moral issues that were really non-issues. That was mostly a ghost writer thing, though.

Also, I loved the Pemalites. They were really rad to me.

Vivid, clearly the ghost writers excelled with some characters over others. How I wish Applegate had come back and written those 'tougher' books instead, just to ensure that her characters were true to her vision.
