I turn my glance back to SEG_FAULT again. Speaking of which, I wrote up the leader's profile and faction description if anyone wants to take a looksee.

We could also have this set slightly in the future with a 2.0 CTos. Nothing huge. Self driving cars and delivery trucks for instance, flying quad copter drones instead of CT scans. (Ie. The drones don't constantly patrol, just come out when an area needs additional surveillance.)

Can you imagine ammunition deliveries by drone from your favorite local gun shop? How about beer and taco?

Thanks ^^ yeah, contrary to popular belief I am in fact a guy.

@Assallya: Gives a whole new meaning to "not the pizza guy." I like it.

No, no, no, no, no.... Please no... I agree with the DT's, but... 2014 works, one year after Watch_Dogs. We can actually start in 2014 and then (if RP survives the beggining, then nothing can stop it) make a timeskip, let's just start... Yeah, sure we can use drones, but A.I. driving? I think thats an overkill.

Edit: Just thought of a compromise, I remember somebody mentioning that the story would take place in ARCs - So, each arc would take place some time in between (ranging from 4-12 months to even 2 years). Let's say we start in 2014 and end in somewhere 2026-2031

That might work, the logistics of a time skip are difficult to do though. We might be able to work it out.

Kaithas, your character is accepted. Sifter, I like that image you did, I like Shakespeare as well. You must spend time in photoshop.

VI driving is available now in real life and drives better than people. It has a few drawbacks, like being unable to resolve bicyclists but that was solved by Google some months back. Not using it is killing one United States citizens every eight minutes!

In truth, I'm surprised they're not in the game already. Not every vehicle for certain but some delivery trucks on repetitive routes I can certainly see.

I would be interested in doing this, but I'd like to know, would it be possible for me to have a digital trips pusher style character? I have the game, but I haven't done much story yet, just finished act 1.

So? Volkswagen has "Temporary Auto Pilot", GM has "Electric Networked Vehicles", Nissan has autonomous vehicle prototypes, heck, let's not even look at BMW who are working on their side with it since 2005.

One of the best things that happened to me in Watch_Dogs was when some jackass, either, cut me off or hit another jackass. Then I liked derping around the crash scene, but NPC's weren't scripted to do anything more than just swear. One of the worst things that I could think in this RP would be having my car hacked, since, that would count as legitimate powergame (Worst kind, since, you can't do anything about it).

Well, as evil as this sounds, we sometimes need to shave off unnecesary weight... Sorry, survival of the fittest, natural selection... That kind of stuff.

Edit: Last thing to say, neither you, nor I (I mean this mostly for myself) have the right to decide such a matter. Either we vote or the GM decides for us (As they say - "Dictatorship by a genius is better than tyranny by fools.") or we use my compromise... Anyway - Sifter out.

Self driving cars are a bad thing, due to:

Programmers are constantly fucking up creating code that is destructive
When there is an accident, the car manufacturer is going to do it's absolute best to railroad you and not pay you for damages and it will be twice as bad when it is two or more manufacturers
Hackers

Well, there isn't going to be self driving cars. It doesn't fit in the world of Watch_Dogs and in Detroit. And one more thing, Kaithas is going to be coGM.

First thing I'm going to point out is that I understand that there isn't going to be any autonomous vehicles.

Second, I would appreciate if people learned how to read. I specifically said, "company vehicles like delivery trucks". If your fixer were stupid enough to own or jack an autonomous vehicle and was hacked by another they fixer they deserve what they got.

Thirdly, based off the following and mostly as an aside and not at all Watch Dogs related:

This previous statements are pure misinformation.

We're talking about a system that makes hundreds of decisions a second and an correct for the occasional one in a billion mathematical error on the next decision. Ninety percent of all car accidents are driver error. Worse, it is far more likely for a good driver to be killed by a bad driver than a bad driver is to be killed by a good driver. This is REVERSE Darwinism. Think about it. What is more likely, a bad driver t-boning a good driver or a good driver t-boning a bad driver? Good drivers are more likely to have accidents that are within the design tolerances of their vehicles.

Additionally, we're talking about a nearly unhackable system. You'd need physical access to the car, time to disassemble it and then put it back together. If someone wants to get you that badly whether you car is hackable or not is not an issue. This person will find a means to get at you another way.

Finally, the legal issues are non-existent. The lawyers haven't had opportunity to get involved in this arena yet. There literally is no precedent. The statement also ignores the fact that autonomous vehicles contain black boxes with time tracked decision processes and matching video.

Everything is going to be connected to the internet eventually. They are talking about creating smart clothes. They already working on the internet in the car. Self driving cars will be connected to internet, they will be 100% hackable just like your pc and the hacker could be in China while the hacked car could be in California.

No, there are quite a number of computers that are isolated from wireless and internet for various reasons. The USAF's secret space shuttle was kept a secret for quite a long time because articles related to it were never placed on DARPAnet. Then there was the stealth boat, the one you see them use in the Bond film, "Tomorrow Never Dies" called the "Stealth Shadow" and nobody knew that thing existed until it sailed out into the harbor, even people that lived next door to where it was being constructed.

One of the rare few movies to get hacking right was "Live Free or Die Hard". The hacker character in that explained that many key infrastructural systems for power generation and the like are completely offline. That's why they had to kill several guards and go there directly.

In an autonomous vehicle, it's highly likely that the core systems are going to be firmware and that they only way to access them would be through a custom proprietary port like a USB but only available from the car manufacturer. The actual internet in your car would be handled via a completely separate computer. I mean, think about it, why would you want a car that needed the internet to drive? If there was a power outage every car in the area would immediately go dead.

There are some thing you just don't bring online. For example, when I was playing Shadowrun and playing a Street Samurai I had my assault rifle which was chipped and had an awesome firewall thanks to my "hacker" ally but I still carried a good old fashioned mechanical .454 Casull Magnum revolver for those special occasions.
