There are humans who treat with these... mutants? Ray could see them in the distance, most keeping away and firing the occasional primitive missile, but a few approaching to enter the fray. They seemed reluctant to directly engage the group, and many were breaking away from the fight, disappearing into the forest.

Ray had garnered the attention of two of the genetic abominations. He quickly squeezed off a semi-auto burst into one, but the other rushed him with a wooden spear. Ray barely had time to block it, trusting in the strength and stability of his flak armor. As he tried to bring his pistol in to shoot the thing, it grabbed his wrist and lunged to bite him. Ray shot his left hand out to the monster's face, struggling to keep its clacking teeth away from him. He lashed out with his interface mechadendrite against the beast's face, scoring a lucky hit as the mechadendrite punctured one of its orbits, causing it to recoil in pain, releasing Ray. He shot the thing in the leg, causing it to collapse, and then he shot it twice in the torso as it crawled at him. He then shot it in the head to make sure it was dead, and then twice more out of spite, kicking it for good measure.

As Ray looked up, most of the mutants were scattering, yelping their way back into the fog. A few mutants and one or two brigands were too dense, unobservant or too heavily engaged to flee. "Sound off! Everyone alright?"

Hearing about the mutant attack, Maren took out her plasma pistol and power sword and ruse forward, attempting to lead by example. She fired several shots from her plasma pistol at the coming mutants attacking them. The plasma shot exploded upon impacting the mutant, vaporizing it, leaving almost nothing of it behind. As another mutant came charging at Maren, she swung her power sword, cutting the mutant down before firing another plasma shot at mutant who was also vaporized, yet as she did she could start feeling her plasma pistol getting hot. “Move forward you dogs. Cut them all down, take no prisoners.” shouted Maren as she continued to try push forward to where the Orgyn and guardsmen was.

All her life she had been told how evil and cruel mutants were. She had been taught to hate them and not to tolerate them unless it was absolutely necessary. It was true that if a mutant serve his entire life to the Emperor then he could be forgiven but it seemed these mutants had no intentions of being forgiven and thus they were useless to the Emperor and so Maren would dispose of them as it was her duty to the Emperor. Yet just as Maren was getting into the heat of battle, it seemed all the mutants were falling back.

“Guardsmen, hold your ground. The enemy could be leading us to a trap, fall back and form a defensive perimeter. Report any injuries, your lives are a currency that we cannot afford to spend.” said Maren in a strict voice as she then place her plasma pistol away and quickly took out her laspistol to ready to execute anyone disobeying orders. She didn't want to kill anyone right now, their were to few guardsmen already but that was all the more reason to make sure everyone followed the chain of command. If the Guardsmen all obey their orders, Maren would then report back to the Interrogator.

As the mutant stuck in Grav's grip was turned into paste, Grav started to take account of his surroundings. Mutants were scattered everywhere and the remaining survivors were running away. As his rage melted away Grav pulled out the knife stuck close yo his neck. Lumbering around, he found Daisy lodged inside the caved in chest of a mutant.

Looking around, Grav surveyed the the forest then plodded back to camp and sitting down. Idly, Grav said "Grav's bites burn, reminds Grav of jungle place." While picking blood and bits of bone out of Daisy.

With the threat now contained, Honoria shook her axe free of gristle from a terribly unfortunate mutant, and wordlessly turned her attention back to the trees she had been cutting. Unless someone else needed medical attention, she was simply going to ignore the Interrogator and the Commissar; their directions would waste valuable time on unnecessary chatter. She was obviously upright and mobile, there was no need to report that fact.

Satisfied that everyone was fine, Rayvius picked up the data-slates he had copied the map data to and handed them out, along with the commbeads to those who didn't have any.

"Okay, everyone, listen up. We can't stay here for much longer; those guys know where we are and they're probably telling their friends. I've given you all maps of these islands. You'll notice there's a village on the western island, near the west coast. There's another, larger village on the north point of the north island, and there's a listening post near there too. There are two things we need. First, we need a way off these islands, and unless any of us are competent sailors, I doubt we'll get far on the raft we're building, though we could use it to get around the archipelago without running into any more surprises like we just faced. We could probably find some kind of craft, and hopefully people who know how to operate it in one of these two villages. The second thing we need is to get to the listening post. The post is hidden and is abandoned, so we probably use it as a base. I need to get there to reestablish contact with friendly forces, as well as my master, and we can't do either with the limited range on the vox-caster from the life-pod. I suggest we head there first, and then see about acquiring a ship. We'll take all the camping gear and all the rations we can carry." Ray produced a las-carbine from the pile of equipment. "If you don't have a better gun, take one of these. Take the vox-caster and the magnoculars, as well as all the extra ammo you can carry. We burn anything we can't bring with us so our enemies can't use them. Any objections?"

Adrian slid down the back of the life-pod smirking with an obvious look of victory on his face. Adrian said in a slightly sarcastic voice "Im loving this planet already, and also sir I think it would be better if we split into two groups to investigate the villages and one group to reclaim the listening post such as me, you, and grav for the post then the tech-priest and the psyker go to the first village, and finally the lord commissar and the praetorian head to the other village". Adrian quickly added "but that is just my tactical insight sir do what you feel is best also it would be best if we did an equipment check before we left I know that my knife was broken and I lost my frags everyone should do a quick inventory".

Grav looked at the little guardsmen and with a warning tone said "Little man need to know place, Interagrator make plans, not you." and with that, Grav started to pick up as much essentials as he could. His BONE implants told him to take the rations, the ammo boxes, and some of the heavier medical supplies.

Satisfied with his backpack, Grav stood behind the Interagrator and began to scan the area, looking for more mutants or just being close so he could get his orders.

Trooper Alexis Radclyffe

After toasting a few of the stragglers with a look of grim indifference of her face, Alexis turned to the Interrogator as he began issuing further orders. She still held a tight grip on her flamer in case there were any more of the mutants and bandits in hiding, waiting to ambush the group if they let their guard down.

Not that they would, of course. But it payed to be cautious.

As she dutifully listened to her new orders, she couldn't help but scowl at the guardsman who spoke out of turn. Sergeant Cade of the Kronus 1st (if she remembered rightly) looked far too smug for his own good; she couldn't believe such a man had seen real combat, let alone been promoted to sergeant already. Clearly, either he was promoted due to nepotism or his regiment was severely short-staffed. Either way, Alexis didn't like him; he seemed like he'd be the first one taken out once any real fighting began. It didn't help that out of the two teams he had suggested, the only woman on his team was the techpriest, but Alexis wasn't sure if she really counted as one anymore or not.

"As the ogryn says, know your place," she practically growled. "On Praetoria we learn to follow the judgement and orders of our superior officers, and the Lord Interrogator outranks everyone else here. Besides..." Her voice lowered as she continued, knowing too well that she was about to be insubordinate herself. "I wouldn't want to see a gloryboy like you be outdone by a group of women. It would probably stain whatever reputation you have."

Truth be told, whilst most of the time people tended to treat her with ire for no discernable reasons, sometimes she really brought it on herself.

Adrian disliked the other guardsman's tone and the ogryn wasn't being particularly friendly either, but then again they had a point. The smirk disappeared from Adrian's face as he replied in a serious tone "I do know my place and I was not making orders I was offering a suggestion. This is a hostile world much like the one I was raised on and I don't want to stay here for a particularly long amount of time. If we are going to survive we need to work together.". Adrian could see the disdain for him the other guardsman clearly held and that was a very bad thing. He wasn't scared of the woman nor did he dislike her because he knew she was just following her training, but that kind of rigidness and being so stoic may get them killed. Adrian then slung his rifle over is back and inspected the broken hilt of his knife Damn I really liked this blade then stabbed the remaining inch or two into a tree as a marker. Waiting for the interrogator to give further orders or to tell them it was tome to depart he rummaged through the wreckage until he found two fragmentation grenades.

The tech-priest's estimation of the interrogator went up due to his recognising her raft-construction from the logs on the beach. It also went down slightly for not stating there were settlements nearby before she'd already spent time gathering resources like this. Then that irritating pissant spoke up, and whilst he bent down to look for items, he would feel a very polite tap on the shoulder. If he didn't turn around in time, the claw would instead hoist him aloft to face Honoria.

"I will tell you this once, little man: your advice is neither needed, nor wanted. You have neither the training nor the authority to advise those of us who hold ranks that need intellect; and too little experience to earn even the meanest portion of respect. I have fought every xeno empire this galaxy holds in my lifetime, and I will not listen to the inane ramblings of an unskilled whelp," Honoria threatened, voice much more lively now, "If you do not learn to hold your tongue, you might wake one day to find it... gone. Along with other anatomy."

The chainsaw on the medicae mechadendrite whirred threateningly. Then, if lifted, Adrian was unceremoniously dropped back onto the wreckage as the enginseer's attention returned to the people who actually had some authority--the commissar and the interrogator.

"I believe that our skillsets are too specialised to split up. Certainly, my abilities would be best used at the listening post."

Igam shook his head at Adrian's suggestion, and voiced his opinion over his comm bead, "Tech priest's right. No vox op, comm beads won't have long enough range." Igam made his way back to the center of camp, holstering his las-pistol along the way, and looked distastefully at the logs the tech priest had been gathering. A raft would force him into close quarters with the trooper in red, and the constant motion of the boat wouldn't do well for his nerves.

Igam made his way over to the interrogator, and spoke quietly, so that the others could not hear. "Can't be near that one," he said as he indicated Alexis. "She breaks my connection with the warp. Pain is unbearable," Igam shuddered involuntarily at the thought of being in close quarters with Alexis once more.

Gaius listened to the interrogator's orders, and the ensuing bickering silently as he collected his shield and power maul. He hadn't had to discharge his shotgun, which was good. This group was unstable, and Gaius wanted to be ready if it came to blows, in which case he would need all of the ammo he could conserve. He holstered his shotgun, but kept his maul in his hand. He approached the group, noting the psyker's disconcerted shudder, which made him slightly nervous himself. He gripped his maul a bit tighter. Wordlessly, he stepped to the center of the group, presenting his maul for all to see.

"Enough. We will all follow the Interrogator's orders, however, you are in violation of the Lex Imperialis by threatening an officer of the Imperium, Enginseer. Regardless of your past experience, I must stress the importance of keeping things in order in accordance with Imperial law. Let the Commisar, the Interrogator, or Myself deal with anyone overstepping their bounds, and I'll not be forced to take drastic steps to ensure this group's survival. As for you, guardsmen," Gaius gestured to Adrian with his maul, "Your offense seems minuscule considering our current state of affairs, but I would ask that you trust in the interrogator's intellect. Now, should any of you decide to step so far out-of-line again, The Commisar, or myself, will be well within our rights to exact punishment." As Gaius finished, he hooked the maul back into it's proper place on his belt, and went about gathering some gear to carry.

Serah couldn't help sighing as she stumbled onto the ongoing argument. She'd seen this sort of friction before when she'd been working at FOBs; different regimental officers and the occasional Navy jock all vying for command and trying to undercut each other to get there.

She did clock a number of things from it though. One, that one member of the group was in obvious discomfort. Probably injured, but she couldn't see any blood. Two, the resident Enginseer seemed to have taken a dislike for the Stormtrooper sniper to the point of physically threatening him.

However, she also clocked the Inquisitor. With the practiced grace of a soldier who'd had drill hammered into her brain since the day she could walk, she slung her lasgun, snapped to attention, and saluted.

"Corporal Yeshada, Cadian Forty-Eighth. Reporting, sir."

"Not an officer," Honoria said dismissively, wandering over to the treeline's edge, "An officer would be trained. An overpromoted serviceman? Hardly."

Wording: important. Trying to use Imperial Law as a deterrent, in the middle of nowhere on a feudal world: hilarious.

"Enough! As the highest ranking Inquisitorial agent here, I will be issuing orders and punishments. Now, seeing as this situation does not fall fully within my area of expertise, I am open to suggestions. However, I am accustomed to being given proper deference to my position. Those who don't are usually the ones I am sent to kill." He left the threat hang in the air before continuing.

"I have taken the suggestion of splitting up under advisement, and find that it may be a better decision. We will split into two groups. The first group will be lead by Gaius; as he is the second highest ranking Inquisitorial agent here, respect his authority as if it were mine. Sergeant Adrian, Lieutenant Igam, Commissar Klemper and Corporal Yeshada will go with him. You will scout the western island village. Nothing too fancy, just recon it, see if its inhabited and who by. The map's census reports are about a century out of date, so we need fresh intel if we can continue. Take the vox-caster and the magnoculars with you. We will be able to stay in contact with you once we reclaim the listening post. Try to avoid conflict and detection. All we need is a little information. Going by the group that attacked us, I somehow doubt that the village is sympathetic to Imperial Law. Once you complete your objective, vox us and we'll send the raft over to the eastern coast here." Ray indicated a point on the map. "We can recon the north village tomorrow, and hopefully know a bit more on what to expect.

"The second group will consist of me, Techpriest Honoria, Grav and Trooper Radclyffe. We will take the raft and the supplies and set up base at the listening post."

That should separate most of the troublemakers. Ray thought. His gaze rested on Trooper Radclyffe. Could she really be...? Igam was clearly disturbed by her presence. He would have to keep them apart.

Honoria's response to Rayvius' statement about proper deference was to roll her eyes: whilst she could respect his knowledge or achievements, she saw no reason to show deference to a member of the Ecclesiarchy. Their raison d'etre was essentially a cause that she didn't believe in, so why should she defer to them? They were all on the same page about how likely that was.

Being split off of the fool was good news, though, and she perked up a little as a tent, mangled in the crash, was cannibalised for its rope--definitely an ancient design, this. Handy to have it around, though, and with a little more work the logs were being lashed together. Now to hope it floated...

Igam nodded as he received his orders, and gave a simple, "Yes sir," in response. Igam moved away from the group, and sat down at the edge of the camp against a tree. He sighed and pulled out a golden aquila symbol. He clenched it in his hands and said several prayers to the Emperor for strength and protection. Igam didn't like how this incursion was going, and he had a bad feeling about the village he and the others were going to scout. "At least the Interrogator kept, her, away from me. Thank the Emperor for small graces,"

Adrian nodded and replied to the interrogator "aye sir" before he climbed into the remains of the life-pod and took a knife off of one of the kadian guardsman that had died in the crash. Adrian flipped the blade a couple of times and then slashed with it,satisfied he nodded and said "this will do.". He spun the knife in his hand and sheathed it in one fluid motion. climbing into the cockpit he tried searched for usable items and found a lazpistol which he quickly holstered "never know when your gunna need a backup.". Jumping back out of the life-pod he walked a small distance off and started practicing hand to hand maneuvers kicks, punches, throws, and takedowns.

Gaius gave the interrogator a nod, and looked over the group he was to lead. Two Guardsmen, the Commissar, and the Psyker. A formidable force, and level enough. None of them had any particular dislike of each other, that Gaius had noticed. After the group he was to lead prepared themselves, he gathered them together.

"Alright, Sergeant, You're on Vox duty. Corporal, grab those magnoculars. Commissar, it's an honour to have you with us. Stay close. Okay, everyone, let's move." As his unit departed, he looked back to Rayvius, "We'll wait for orders after we vox you. In case of an emergency, we'll head to the listening post. I'll update you soon." And with that, Gaius and the others departed, heading into the woods. A storm was brewing overhead, and it appeared as if it might rain. Gaius glared up at the seemingly bad omen, and turned his collar up in defiance of it.

Having received his orders, Grav stopped picking the bits of meat and bone out of Daisy and lumbered towards the makeshift raft. However Grav had his worries, as an ogryn Grav wasn't the lightest thing in the galaxy and with the addition of his bionic arms he was slightly more heavy than he usually is.

Turning towards the tech priest, Grav said "I fink I'm a little too big for dat der boat tech priest." to prove his point, Grav clapped his arms together and produced the tall tale clang of metal.
