While I definitely agree that the GM has the last and only truly important word, I don't see anything wrong with discussing it civilly. I a player has an issue with a power, I think it should be within their right to mention it. I may be biased, as I was the first person to do so. But that is my two cents.

Already the "delete Artist entirely and move on with Speed Demon Michelle Kine" idea is becoming more and more tempting...

@Eyeris I have indeed asked for opinions and I will answer them:
The "draw to scale" limitation seems too high a price, as it makes him require several square feet of paper, which is just much too cumbersome for practical use.
Quick sketch over oil painting does seem like an interesting limitation, and I may add that in.
For control, I would say "complete dominance" for his own safety as well as everyone else's, since sentient beings might abuse their own sentience and attack Artist himself, though now that I think about it, it might be an idea to change that "complete dominance" idea and perhaps add this as a limitation (considering, not quite accepting).
Giving him powers he doesn't have is an ability I am trying to limit as strongly as possible, as already mentioned several times.

@Gisk Your "two cents" is worth more than a hundred bucks, since everyone has equal say (with the possible exception of the GM).

I would say that giving a robo fly telepathy wouldn't be so bad, like. Artist could give his drawings powers but if he does, the time that they could be animate would be reduced. The reduction would be dependant on how complex and large the drawing is, and how powerful the power. Example being the fly can read minds but to conserve power, it has to fly close to people.

@Gisk, civil discussion can very quickly become e-penis swinging competition. I'm only trying to avoid hurting feelings before we've really begun.

@Scarifar, We have a speedster already, Gisk I imagine would object to you encroaching on his territory.

@ColouredCyan Sure, repeats aren't always fun, but sometimes they are. After all, competition can force people to do their best, and thus improve faster, no pun intended. Besides, Gisk's character's power isn't exactly true super speed, he just speeds up or slows down his personal flow of time. I feel like he got that from a book that had a character displaying a similar power.

Well, I've done my best to set limitations on Artist, and have listened to plenty of people's opinions on the matter, and am now waiting for the GM to deliver the final verdict.

@SaraRPs Probably. We might also be waiting for Famotill to give us the task.

"Came back from the bathroom, takes awhile to poop, I'm old, find a tree in my living room. What's up?"
(Browny Points to whoever gets that reference)

Ahem, Wow, this has evolved into quite the DISCUSSION. See that? See how I capitalized the word to emphasize it? People, this is by far a very healthy discussion that is rarely seen, even here in the RP Guild. People usually get all uppity when others have issues with their character and bad plays will be made on both sides.

Just sayin you all should pat yourselves on the back for being mature about this, despite Scarifar not seeing the perfectly logical thinking and reason behind the other two's claims about the Artist's potential OP powers (SHOTS FIRED! SPITTIN FIRE XD).

Personally I feel that it would be really cool if you took in a Mushi Shi route, in which a young boy had a similar power, where he would draw something with his left hand it would suddenly come to life or take physical form. Of course, he couldn't give the item he drew magical abilities, such as talking or making a teapot walk, but it was still really neat to see him literally draw stuff into existence. Granted, the real downside was that anything even remotely related to life (even words such as "Tree") would come to life if he drew or wrote with his left hand, thus creating a big issue for him. It was as if he ultimately did not have that much control over the power per say as he was more of almost a vessel of bringing the abstract to life. It was the first episode of the anime Mushi Shi if you ever feel like watching it. Really neat, non-mainstream anime with great artistic style and writing.

Anyway, take a pat on the back and await the final word of the GM. Enjoy the fact that this DISCUSSION or "intelligent argument" if you will was fairly productive and peaceful. If anything, this is a testimony to the reliability that we are all just here to have fun and enjoy some power, action filled Roleplaying!

@Everyone: I am really sorry that I wasn't able to respond sooner, something came up and I wasn't available, but you all seemed to have it under control. I would say that all parties have logical basis in their views for Artist. So I will try to come up with a solution. Firstly, when I accepted Artist I did interpret his powers as he literally draws things into existence, without enchanting abilities. So I think that would probably be the best route. However, Scar does have a point that since drawing to scale takes a large amount of time. To remedy this, before missions where Artist's abilities can be used for a tactical advantage, the overseers will work out plans with him and the group. Artist can draw his larger to scale creations before a battle, and carry them in a portable mech-scroll which Sanctum will provide. Artist can easily wear this on his back, and fall to the back lines to unleash the creation. Regarding his ability to give his creations powers, in a future upgrade I can suggest that Artist can learn to meld together two creations at one time, though this would reduce the time that the creation can exist in our world. Upon defeat or after running out of time, the paintings/drawings would be erased. For the drawings he does in battle, that would have a relatively weaker defense as he'd be forced to draw with a pencil, leaving his lines thin. While outside of combat with time, he can use oils and paints to make much thicker lines adding bulk and defense to his creation. Also, Gods are different in this world, so that wouldn't fly most likely. Also, people are complicated and couldn't be duplicated in combat scenarios, and even then they wouldn't have the abilities of their counterpart, they'd just have basic fighting capabilities. A potential upgrade would be that with a human creation, Artist might be able to for a short time send the creation on a reconnaissance mission, if Art is in range of his drawing then what the drawing can see would be sketched out onto the paper. Are these sounding like good ideas?

But I would sincerely like to thank you all for keeping this pretty cool, you were all more than capable of handling it. I know I'm the GM or whatever, but in this RP all of your opinions hold weight so long as their given respectfully and constructively- which they were- so thanks again everyone!

Also we will kick things off a bit more tomorrow in the IC! I know that it's difficult, and I am going to try and find ways to keep people from getting left behind. I'm sorry for the wait, as you've all been patient- I just wanted everyone who wanted to be in to come in at the same time, but I realize that may not be possible, so as the GM it's up to me to make the characters fit whether they come in now or later.

Well, it sounds good, I'll grant it that, but then how do I explain why I carry a notepad? Hmmm... maybe there could be a slight compromise for the drawing-to-scale part, where since the drawing is smaller, enlarging it takes more energy (thus shortening the time frame), or makes it weaker than if it were drawn to scale.

Well he'd still be using the notepad in combat for quicker and less potent constructs, He'd only have the large paper for missions where it was planned out, they'd be more potent as he'd have time to paint them rather than sketch them. The thicker the brush and therefore the lines, the more potent and capable of defense the drawing would be. And the to scale part isn't the issue. Artist wouldn't have paper the size of elephants, so some constructs clearly wouldn't be able to be actual size, but with enough prep-time it'd come pretty damn close. Think of it like Batman, Artist is at his best when given a situation and being allowed to prepare for it, though he is still capable when he cannot prepare, he just has to think on his feet with less resources to do it with.

If I had realized just how many problems I'd have with Artist, I probably would have given up on him and moved on with Michelle. Wonder if it's not too late to back down now...

@Scarifar I thought that Artist was really unique and creative of you actually. Its understandable that you would have issues but I think you should just keep on going with him and try to move past it.

On the one hand, I have human genes telling me to take the easy way out and delete Artist. On the other hand, I have you guys trying to convince me to keep Artist, which is equally powerful. There is only one way to settle this: coin toss. I'll be back shortly.

Well, here's how it went. I made a 2/3 coin toss, heads meaning I keep Artist and tails meaning I delete him. I got 1 head and 2 tails. So now I can either create a new character or I can use Michelle.

Famotill, you are the GM, so you should probably have some say in this. I am fine with either using Michelle, or creating a new character, which I actually have a few ideas for. If you think that I should make the decision then ok.

Well if you really don't like Alexander than that's fine, you can make a new character. I would say bring in Michelle but we already have a speed character on the team. She could also be a villain or an outside hero, and you could still make a new character, but that's up to you. I actually do enjoy Artist, I was wondering if I could use him for a base to create a new character? If not I completely understand.
