@GuyYouWishYouDidn'tKnow: Tsukumogami are not former humans(and in fact contracts that were formerly humans do not exist in this setting). They are objects that have gained a living form and sentience of their own.

I was more of referring to the whole aspect of the legend in terms of how the soul they acquire is based on the life-force of the origin point, but that's just semantics so I'm fine with changing that. Are there any other issues on that front?

Arachne is actually fine given her nature(she'd probably haven been something slightly different from human originally but I can't imagine her not being available as a contract). That said, I do see one particular issue in her powers area and one thing I want further clarification on.

Firstly, the issue I see is the web ability, which enters into an uncomfortable area of omniscience, even if it takes a little while to establish.

Secondly, what exactly would be able to be severed using the string-cutting abilities?

On the web, it's no so much omniscience as an expanded perception to allow what's basically the equivalent of "scrying". She can't be fully aware of all states of reality at any given time, nor can she do something like "use the present state of affairs to reach a calculation of the future", but if she wanted to find a specific person on the web after it's made she could. That said, she can't tell what the person's doing or anything, she can only conclude that "there is a person at this location" and "that person is X".

If that's still too much I can remove it, of course.

On string-severing it's in theory anything based on connections or boundaries. I'm guessing your worry is her doing something like severing the connection between one part of a person's body and another, basically allowing an instakill. In which case, the way I was going to handle that was that, even for Fusion/Summon, she can't sever strings where one end is attached to a Contractor or similar being without said being's consent, if that makes sense. Let me know if you need more limits attached or whatnot.

@Dead Cruiser: I agree with what Vita said about it and honestly, I'd like an actual explanation of his strength. It's one thing to list off characters and a game designer (by the way, he worked on several games with normal human protagonists and I honestly don't know about putting the rest on the same level), but...I'd like to know what sort of stuff we can expect. Are they strong enough to throw cars around, uproot trees to use as clubs, suplex trains, that sort of thing.

Base form, I'd say lifting and tossing a car is near the height of his strength. Fused, he'll be lifting that same car with one arm. Surya himself could pick up a subway car and wave it around like a toy.

Now, each of their power varies with their level of anger at that point, so there would be moderate shonen-esque divergences from the stats I just listed in certain scenarios.

Forgive me if this sounds powergame-y but I'm hesitant to give specifics about Monshiro's strength because I want to ensure that he has the most physically powerful contract. Sheer strength is essentially all he has, and if he ends up outclassed in that regard, his contract would seem pretty pitiful.

@Erasmus: There's no specific issue, I'm just trying to make the decision.

@GuyYouWishYouDidn'tKnow: It seems okay to me, but I'm going to wait until I can see what Tachi thinks.

@Sketcher: I never said you had to make your contract a god, I meant that if you were going for spirit you should probably be a little more specific. Hoenstly, those abilities don't work particularly well for Athena aside from maybe reflecting the whole defensive warfare thing a little.

I can answer this.

Very long. Long enough that a lot of myths were people not understanding contracts way back when.

Thanks! Anyways, I updated Ao's personality to make it lean more toward narcissism, gave him a fog ability to enforce his weather theme, and updated Alex's picture because it was going to the wrong site or something weird.

Updated

Edit: I updated the 'luck' ability to be able to have an impact in combat/plot related things, but only if it's not initiated by me. Basically I can't use it to avoid/shortcut things, but opponents/GMs can use it for flavor if they want to. Which will probably never happen but the option will be there.

I was going for the god of war more than the god of wisdom :/
I thought it would reflect Athena better for him to be physically weaker yet nimbler unlike the other god of war Ares who's mostly seen as the muscle-head.

Well... Athena actually is a goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, so her abilities should reflect that.

Also the fusion should reflect... well, Athena is a greek goddess. While it doesn't have to completely look Greek since, well, look at my Artemis and all, but it shouldn't be a crusader with crosses everywhere.

@Aurus: I think he's acceptable now, I think.

Humans:
Name: Kyle Lockhart
Age: 18 (Senior)
Appearance:
Personality: He is known to be a bit rebellious, especially when he thinks that he was given an order just so that someone in charge could exercise their power. He follows the rules when he sees the point of the rules and agrees with them, and when he knows he'll get caught.
Psychologist report:
Both of his parents were skilled contractors. In their raising of him, however, they were very strict. Disobedience was punished swiftly and severely. As a result, he grew up seeing his life as a series of rules that had to be obeyed, lest he face punishment. He is essentially ruled by his Ego, having little understanding of why you shouldn't behave in certain ways. When he joined the Academy, this view was extended to include the school. He sees the administrators and teachers more as prison wardens than as friends or instructors. I believe this has led to him viewing himself and other students as slaves to the administration.

Clubs: Muay Thai Club, Debate team
Brief Backstory: Unlike many contractors, he spent his early years going through American prep schools. His parents tended to choose the strictest ones they could, believing that he needed to learn discipline more than anything else if he was to be a contractor like them. Money wasn't really an issue, as his parents had both long exploited their gifts for great profit. When he got to high school and his parents saw fit to teach him the basics of being a contractor, he did what he was supposed to do. He chose one of the more "acceptable" beings to make a contract with. He transferred to Covenant Academy, but he soon realized that despite all of his power, he was still subject to the laws of his teacher, and the school staff, whether those rules actually protected people or not, or even if they didn't work.
When the summer arrived, he used some of the money in the expense account his parents had left him to pay for school, and traveled to Italy, to a remote shrine. He took a piece of a statue to the goddess that had fallen off and, after transferring to Japan, waited for the appropriate time. When November 13th arrived, he summoned her to ask for her help freeing others from the oppression he saw them under. She agreed.
Contract(s): Sindri, Feronia

Contracted Beings:
Name: Sindri
Type: Dwarf King
Personality: Hardworking, Likes building and making things. He has a weird sense of humor, often laughing at the failings of others, especially when they do something that he thinks is easy, like Smithing. Likes to study machines, though he seems to be having trouble with computers, as they are so different than what he's used to. Likes to hang out at a blacksmith's shop in the city, one of the few places where such a place could still exist.
Powers: Preternatural understanding of machines and metallurgy, resistance to heat, increased strength (currently 3x), tougher skin
Fusion: More muscular build, beard, slightly shorter. increased powers from contract. Resistance to magic and lightening.
Summon: 4'8", Muscular, large build. Beard. Wears armor that resists magic, heat, and lightning. Carries an ax that shoots flames from it on command.

Name: Feronia
Type: Goddess
Personality: Values her freedom. As a goddess of wildlife, health, and fertility, she can be a bit flirtatious, however, she is kind, only fighting to protect others or herself. She was once prayed to by slaves, hoping for their freedom, which made her a goddess of freedom.
Powers: Healing (self and others; accelerates the body's healing rate. Currently can't heal mortal wounds.), accelerated growth/revival of plants, animal speech
Fusion: Androgenous, they glow with a light like sunlight, bringing healing to those around them. Can control plants or animals, though plants are obviously much slower.
Summon: A beautiful woman, clothed in natural materials, though the specific materials vary with her mood and the climate. She can heal people or revive the recently dead. She can even restore life to dead wood or other plant materials. She has a kind of telepathy with all wild animals, and they obey her will, should she ask it of them. Should she see a serious injustice, she will not hesitate to step in to stop it.
