Covenant Academy, situated on a small island off the coast of Japan, is unique in that its students are all Contractors, people who have made pacts with beings from another world. The academy has facilities to teach students from elementary school through to university and takes applicants from all corners of the world. Thanks to one of the staff's contract abilities, all students are able to communicate clearly with one another regardless of whether they know each other's languages.

The academy is more like a city than a normal school. It features a large shopping district, restaurants, cinemas and almost anything else the students are likely to want or need. Most of the people working in these establishments are current or former students of the academy. While the architecture tends to be fairly standard for a modern city, there are two major exceptions. The structures that make up the university seem almost...futuristic, while the academy's largest library seems to be a very well maintained ancient Greek building.

As with most Japanese schools, Covenant Academy has a large number of clubs, ranging from normal things like sporting teams and anime appreciation societies to clubs that couldn't possibly work in more normal schools. Among the academy's many clubs and associations is the Covenant Academy Security Team. The Security Team is made up of students of all ages who use their abilities to enforce the school's rules, effectively functioning as the island's police force.

Members of the security team or academy staff can authorise "duels" between students, either as training or to help settle arguments. The system was established to help with the inevitable fights that would break out in the school. Given that many of the students had dangerous powers, a system where these fights could be carried out with supervision that ensured proper medical care when needed and gave incentive to avoid potentially lethal attacks seemed like a good idea. Combined with the rumours about the severity of the punishments for unauthorised powered fights, the system has been mostly successful.
A few points about how magic works in the setting:
  • People have no special powers of their own, but can gain them by forming contracts with magical beings. These contracts are formed through a ritual involving a magic circle and an incantation to focus ambient magical energy, though whatever the ritual calls isn't necessarily required to agree to a contract. In addition, many people use focuses for the ritual to narrow down what's called. While a focus-less ritual might end up calling out to all manner of creatures, by placing an item related (either symbolically, like a bird's feather to call a phoenix, or more literally, like a stone from a God's temple) to what they're hoping to contract with in the circle, the call is sent out to a narrower group of beings.
  • Magical beings live in a world separate to the human world; however, they can be summoned to the human world by a contractor. In the past, there were other ways for them to travel between worlds, but these are no longer usable.
  • A contracted being's powers are generally stronger in person than when being used by their contractor, however they are also fairly draining. So while most beings are able to stay summoned into the human world almost permanently, many can only take part in combat for a short amount of time before needing to return to the other world. However, they can temporarily combine with their contractor, granting a power boost and sometimes, entirely new abilities. This is stronger than the contractor on their own and less draining than the contract fighting in person.
  • When combined, the contractor's appearance generally changes somewhat. This can be something as simple as a coloured aura or an outfit/suit of armour that bears some resemblance to the contracted being or can involve temporarily gaining traits of the being (cat ears and a tail from a contract with a bakeneko, wings from a contract with a phoenix, etc). In some cases, the contracted being's personality can take over in this state.
  • Magical beings range from simple monsters from folklore/myth up to gods/titans. All non-creation myths are more or less true. Folklore and myth, as they're being used in this RP do not refer to things like Area 51, Slenderman, the Illuminati or invisible/teleporting battleships. Think more along the lines of things like gods, frost giants, faeries and dragons.
  • All contractors are tougher/stronger than normal humans, some more than others due to the nature of their contracted beings. All but the weakest contractors can more or less shrug off small arms fire.
  • Try to keep your characters' abilities fairly close to what the contracted beings are capable of in their real world myths/stories. Feel free to nerf/buff them as necessary, maybe take some minor liberties here and there, but don't just come up with entirely new abilities. For example, getting the power to set your fists on fire from a nekomata, dragon or other fire-breathing monster is fine, getting eye lasers from a contract with Poseidon...not so much. Similarly, try to keep the appearance somewhat similar, if you're contracting with something that's traditionally humanoid, don't make the contract a giant dragon.
  • Undead creatures (ghosts, banshees, vampires, mummies, etc) exist and you can make contracts with them, however, if it's something you can contract with; it's not something that was once a normal human.
  • While summoned beings can be damaged, "killing" them simply forces them to return to the other world for a while, during which they can't be summoned or used for fusion.

Rules:
  • No godmodding, ghosting, autohitting, metagaming, etc.
  • If you're going to drop out/have to leave for an extended period, please say something in the OOC.
  • The tone of the RP is light-hearted, though serious scenes are fine. Try to keep this in mind when writing your characters' backstories.
  • Player created plots are encouraged. Ideally, there will be a balance between slice of life and action elements, with players being able to avoid the latter if they want to.

Banned Powers:
I apologise if this causes problems with anyone's ideas, but I don't feel comfortable allowing any of the following powers into this RP:
  • One hit kills, for the obvious reason of removing the threat of any combat encounter for the character. This refers to things like a contract with the Fates or the Grim Reaper, not something as simple as having a weapon.
  • By the same token, freezing, petrifying or otherwise turning people into inanimate objects, while not strictly a one hit kill have the same general impact on combat.
  • Mind control or possessing other people's characters, in part due to basically being another one-hit win ability and in part because it can get in the way of the affected player's enjoyment.
  • Depowering other characters, in the form of anti-magic abilities or some way of breaking people's contracts (or anything else I haven't thought of) is unacceptable due to the importance of those abilities in any combat that may occur.
  • Reality warping, due to the fact that it kind of ruins any dramatic impact of any plotline people might try if someone can simply wave their hand and fix everything.
  • Powers used to no sell attacks; this doesn't mean that you can't have a character with enhanced toughness, the power to go incorporeal, regenerate injuries or even resurrect themselves if they die, however they should not be completely untouchable and regeneration or resurrection will be expected to take time and/or have some other drawback.

And finally, the character skeletons:

Name: Self-explanatory.
Age: Self-explanatory. While teachers are acceptable, I'd prefer if most of the characters were students.
Appearance: Pictures and written descriptions are both acceptable.
Personality: How does your character act? I don't expect a full essay, but at least a couple of sentences would be appreciated.
Clubs: What clubs (if any) is the character a member of?
Brief Backstory: Optional. You can elaborate on your character's past in the thread if necessary. Don't take this as permission to leave the field blank and introduce a grimdark past in the RP itself though.

Name: Optional, as some beings aren't likely to have names and others may be hesitant to give them out.

Human:
Name: Kasuga Mira
Age: 16("Yes, sixteen!")
Appearance: "... Who are you calling a little girl?! Let's dance!"
Personality: Mira is... the best way to explain her behavior would be to say she's kind of surly. Mira has a tendency to snap, or complain, or generally be grumpy about most situations. That said, she's not without her happier times, but she's quick to anger and very quick to complain. Normally she's at her happiest if she's shown direct approval or affection(though she's unlikely to directly admit it), or if things are going her way. She very intentionally projects a strong image to compensate for her tiny appearance, and has no qualms with... physical methods of correction if someone ticks her off enough. Mira has a passion for cakes, and while she doesn't entirely mind her body, she will not hesitate to point out that she's actually sixteen and she should not be called a child. She is a very capable, straight-laced student who takes her work with the utmost seriousness. Among the things she takes very seriously is martial arts, taught to her by her father.
Clubs: The Martial Arts Club, the Light Music Club(Guitar)
Brief Backstory: The daughter of a French summoner and a Japanese martial artist, Mira has learned from both(getting a black belt in the process) and developed into a stern and serious girl who dislikes nonsense. A stern and serious girl who dislikes nonsense who has... remained small for her age.

Contracted Beings:
Name: Lily
Type: Demon
Personality: Lily likes to describe herself as a perfect example of a demon. Not the evil ones, the mischief-makers. She loves to mess with people and tease them, and generally fool around. Lily is also a tremendous pervert of massive levels, which she especially likes to use to mess around with poor Mira. She likes to flaunt her body, which is why the clothing she wears is rather revealing. She also likes perving on and messing with... just about anyone she finds cute whatsoever, much to Mira's utter dismay. She also thinks Mira needs encouragement to let loose and be kind of pervy. Mira feels this is stupid and Lily is stupid for thinking it.
Powers: Demonic strength and some additional durability. That's... about it, really. Coupled with Mira's small size and martial arts expertise this is pretty dangerous, though.
Fusion: "Oh, don't you like getting a 'boost' like this~?" "Sh-shut up!"
Mira grows taller and more... mature. She can also hover for brief periods using her wings and use her tail to grab small objects. She retains her demonic strength and durability, and gains a minor healing factor(broken bones and severed fingers, for example). Unfortunately for Mira, Lily often takes control and tries to do somewhat perverted things using her body. This makes Mira very very reluctant to fuse with Lily.
Summon: "Ah, it's nice to get out and stretch my limbs~"
Lily is of average demonic strength, capable of easily outdoing a grown man but having trouble dealing with other summons through strength alone. Lily is capable of complete and free flight, and her tail is remarkably strong and can be used to pick things up or hit them. She can unrestrictedly produce and hurl balls of hellfire, extremely intense flames capable of melting even steel. Lily can also regenerate some injuries(up until severed limbs. Serious harm to her body is not possible for her to heal) and take quite a beating.
Human:
Name: Tomoe Sakura
Age: 17
Appearance: "Oh, hello there, would you like to play a game?"
Personality: Sakura is a pleasant, if sometimes teasing, girl with a penchant for games. Games of all sorts, really. She enjoys video games, card games, and board games equally. She tends towards being polite, unless she's decided to tease someone. Teasing is, however, generally a sign that she likes a person. She avoids being too harsh when she teases, and all her kidding around is very good-natured. Actual anger is marked by very direct and sharp, angry comments, or silence. Basically, if she's teasing someone, she's not angry with them in the slightest.

Brief Backstory:
Contract(s): Artemis

Contracted Being:
Name: Artemis
Type: Goddess
Powers: Sakura gains excellent eyesight, increased endurance and reflexes, and excellent marksmanship.
Personality: Artemis is serious-minded and calm... most of the time. She is prone to making biting, sarcastic comments to those she perceives as idiots, and has little to no tolerance for stupidity or fooling around. She takes a great deal of pride in her abilities as an archer and a hunter, and sometimes boasts that she has perfect aim. Which isn't really a boast, as her aim is beyond fantastic. Enough irritation will drive Artemis to yell and insult the source, berating them rather relentlessly. She does show softness towards young girls... provided they don't act stupid, too. She is extremely, absurdly protective of Sakura, holding Sakura's protection as an important duty of hers.
Fusion: The fusion between Sakura and Artemis is closest to Sakura. However, Sakura is clad in Artemis' clothing, and her hair has changed to the same shade of purple as Artemis'. In this state, Sakura gains the godly speed and strength of Artemis in full. It also enables her to run. She gains Artemis' skill with a bow and arrow.
Summon: "Four targets...?"
Artemis is divinely strong. But she is weak by comparison to other gods, instead relying on agility and speed(also to divine levels, though she is not the fastest deity). However, her real abilities lie in what she can do with her bow and arrows. Curving arrows, firing them through walls, rapid-firing them, aim so impossibly near perfect that she nearly always hits her target unless they have abilities to match her own, firing dozens of arrows at once, Artemis is a master of archery. She is also capable of, oddly, turning men into young girls. The latter of these abilities is not something she's going to use pretty much ever.
•Name: "I might tell you... eventually."
•Type: Vampire
•Personality: To many things, the vampire's reaction seems to be polite disinterest. She lacks any care for almost anything that exists, finding much of it worthy of very little attention. However, she will be polite unless pressed and annoyed, in which case her responses become sharper and less patient. That said, she often speaks in a very charming and polite manner, and is generally somewhat willing to talk provided that something she's actually enjoying isn't interrupted. While perhaps not very much, she does find people somewhat interesting most of the time.
The vampire will make for even more animated and pleasant conversation if she finds herself more interested then usual in a person. The more interesting she finds someone, the more pleasant and energetic she becomes. However, the charm, and in some cases teasing attitude, grows. In fact, the vampire often places some teasing in her interactions with others. One of the reasons the charm grows when she interacts with someone she finds more interesting is because she becomes interested in... tasting them. She does need to drink blood, after all, and while she wouldn't take enough to kill someone(that is simply unacceptable in her current situation), she enjoys... getting a taste of those she takes a liking to. So her intent is quite simply to charm them into allowing it.
The vampire is also a highly intelligent and articulate girl. She enjoys reading and has a vast knowledge of a great many works. She is somewhat playful about her identity, asking people to figure it out themselves, though she will reveal it if she feels it is appropriate. Finally, she finds fighting only somewhat interesting... most of the time. If a battle really gets her attention, she becomes quite a bit more energetic. It would be easy to describe her as incredibly hammy if she gets going. She also becomes much more threatening, her smiles becoming much less friendly grins.
•Powers: The powers granted by a contract with the vampire are enhanced speed, strength, and regeneration. The regeneration is fairly basic, allowing recovering from a fair amount of dangerous wounds and even the severing of non-vital body parts. However, while blood is regenerated during this process, blood lost mysteriously vanishes, leaving even the sites of the most violent injuries totally clean. The contractor also becomes capable of creating minor illusions.
•Fusion: Will work this out later, when she gets a contractor.
•Summon: Rin recolored her eyes for me! And this is a better choice for the character even if it's still borrowing an appearance, eh-heh.
When summoned, the vampire invariably appears sitting in an armchair, clutching a wine glass filled with what is certainly very red and definitely not wine. She is highly mobile and very fast, as well as dangerously strong. Even a very strong grown man would be easily overpowered by her. The only ways to kill her are the destruction of her heart or the severing of her head. All other damage is regenerated completely. Sunlight, while an irritant, does not effect her "Any longer", in her terms. It does sting her eyes and she requests a parasol if she must travel in it. In addition, she is incapable of tanning and simply gets painful sunburn. However, natural running water(including magical sources) renders her powerless until she can dry off, and religious objects make her sneeze(longer exposure to them causes her to develop a cold).
The vampire can create illusions, disguising herself and others. These illusions are highly convincing, and it is difficult to pierce them. She can also disperse into a cloud of bats, reforming perfectly for rapid travel and dodging attacks. Injuring one or more of these bats will injure her, though she will regenerate upon reforming. She can manipulate the blood from her own body, or blood that's been spilled, to create spears and other weapons. However, if she uses blood from her own body it will drain her rapidly and make it highly necessary for her to drink very soon. Finally, the vampire can summon familiars out of her dress. The appear in a dark mist that pours from it, taking the form of shadowy wolves and bats. While they are capable of seriously injuring a target, it takes only one strike or any kind to dissipate them entirely.

Um... I'll write up her contractor some time unless someone wants to make them but yeah. I just sort of had this idea and really liked it, eh-heh. ^^;

Name: Momoko Sato
Age: 17
Appearance: "H-huh, high schoolers don't have to wear a uniform?" ...She still does though.
Personality: Momoko is somewhat shy around people she doesn't know. However once she feels comfortable around someone or it becomes clear that they share interests, she becomes more cheerful and friendly. She is a fan of an assortment of manga and anime, though mostly slice of life or magical girl series, as well as tokusatsu series of varying ages, regardless of how cheesy they may be. She is also an avid gamer, frequently staying up until well after midnight and prioritising games over homework. Despite this, she manages to get surprisingly good grades due to her ability to pull all-nighters to study or complete assignments.

She has a part time job at a small cafe, which she uses, along with an allowance from her parents, to pay for food, rent on a small apartment and more importantly, assorted DVDs, games and manga volumes.
Clubs: Anime and video game appreciation societies.
Brief Backstory: Maybe later.
Contract(s): A Koropokkuru named Hotene

Contracted Beings:
Name: Hotene
Type: Koropokkuru
Personality: As with most of her kind, Hotene is extremely shy and feels uncomfortable being seen by most humans, without even getting into conversation. As such, she tends to spend her time in the other world unless summoned for a specific purpose. As most of her experience with the human world is from time spent in Momoko's apartment, she has very little to go on for what it's like aside from the assorted media her contractor watches, leading to her expecting it to be overrun with giant robots, evil clowns and all manner of other things. This does...very little to make her want to spend more time in the human world.
Powers: Without fusing, Momoko's contract grants her enhanced speed, as well as lesser boosts to her endurance and strength.
Fusion: When Momoko fuses with Hotene, her height and clothing change to those of the koropokkuru. In this form, she has further enhanced speed and strength, enough to beat a normal adult in a fight despite her size. In addition, the combination of speed and size makes this form good for stealth and evading attacks. However, more often than not, it's simply used to save money on food.
Summon: Hotene takes the form of a teenage girl carrying a large leaf…Well, large compared to her, as she's only 6 inches tall. Hotene's physical abilities are similar to those of her and Momoko's fused form, but greater. In addition, given her people's history as hunters, Hotene knows how to camouflage/hide herself well, rather than relying on size and speed for stealth. She is skilled at tracking targets and setting traps.
Name: Alex Quilldrake
Age: 17
Appearance: Here.
Personality: Alex is generally a nice, easygoing boy. He has always been fascinated with stories of heroes, whether they're in comics, anime, tokusatsu or ancient legends. He has a strong sense of justice and, when the situation calls for it, can be rather hammy. He believes there is good in everyone and that those who do evil are just weak-minded enough to fall prey to their desires. In line with the way many of the heroes he looks up to handle such problems, he believes that the best way to handle these situations is to disable the offender through (ideally non-lethal) combat before taking them in for detention.
Clubs: Security team.
Brief Backstory: Maybe later.
Contract(s): Nimue, The Lady of the Lake

Contracted Beings:
Name: Nimue
Type: Fae/Lady of the Lake
Personality: Nimue is...somewhat of a troll. While this normally takes the form of fairly subtle teasing with an overall amicable personality, if she finds someone's reactions amusing, it generally gets worse.
Powers: Alex has the ability to summon and wield the legendary sword Excalibur. While wielding it, his strength and reaction times are increased and his already impressive swordsmanship skills are improved. By raising the sword above his head and invoking its name, he can cause the blade to release a blinding flash of light.
Fusion: When Alex fuses with Nimue, he transforms into a girl. Something he really wasn't expecting when he made the contract, after all, not many stories about King Arthur feature him spontaneously turning into a girl. He tries to avoid using it when possible and, when forced to, makes sure to get out of public view first. Of course, most people can still easily tell that it's him...the fact that the girl's hair and eye colours are the same as his and she wields the same legendary sword are kind of big hints. In this form, Alex's speed is enhanced. While it doesn't cover his entire body, Alex's armour is capable of taking hits from most mundane weaponry and some weaker contractors' attacks without any damage. In addition, due to having Excalibur's scabbard as well as the sword itself, wounds Alex receives will not bleed in this form (although they will when he returns to normal). Finally, he is able to tap into Nimue's magical power to enhance Excalibur's special ability, turning it from a blinding flash to a focused destructive beam.
Summon: Just pretend that Excalibur is the same one as the one in the fused image, ehe...Nimue is a powerful sorceress, having learned from Merlin himself. Many of her spells are based around water or light. The former allows her to heal other people by infusing water with her mana and pouring it into their mouths and create walls of water which, thanks to being infused with magic from a powerful spellcaster, are surprisingly good at stopping attacks. The latter allows her to create illusions by bending light, as well as being able to produce the blinding light and beams Alex channels through Excalibur on her own.

In case anyone's wondering, I'm going with one of the versions of the story of King Arthur where there's more than one Lady of the Lake (ie. the one that shoved Merlin in a cave/rock/tree/whatever is a separate character to this one).

I am interested, but I had a question. Shouldn't there be a spot for appearance in the Contracted Beings character skeleton? Wait a second, on second though, I just realized that the appearance is under "Summon." :P Sorry bout that.

Appearance:

Personality:
One of Kyouka's prominent traits, is her willingness to be playful, ruthless and sadistic on both foe and ally, she is openminded and speaks her mind to the fullest resulting into mischiefs. She clearly shows control of her emotions and does not let it get in her way, a trait of her being a stoic person and enduring all sorts of dreadful encounter furthermore she is known to boss around and doublecross those who have no use for her. Kyouka is able to inflict fear and adoration to those who work with her and it is something she clearly knows and takes advantage of.

Another trait that is known of her is that, she is very picky and prefers the company of women instead of men, it's not because she despise them but rather having difficulties conversing with them in a friendly conversation/manner and majority of the times, her composure in men is cold and ignorant. Kyouka likes teasing those around her especially if it's women sometimes in a sarcastic way or subtle, this implies whether or not she is a lesbian in nature but such theory is debunked when she stated that she prefers men that are older and strong.

She has a catchphrase which is, "Drop Dead." Much to her usage of that phrase, it became a bad habit as she uses it in the wrong place and time, she also has many alterations of her catchphrase and fun fact is, she uses a cutesy quote that puts her into teasing situations from her comrades and enemies, that one liner is "Kon~", it is secretly confidential that Kyouka loves cute stuffed animals.
Clubs: Kendo Club
Brief Backstory:
Born in Hokkaido and raised in Osaka, Kyouka was part of the Hockey Team back in middle school. Although little is known about her, she stated that her primary goal for living is something grand.

Contract:
Name: Inari
Type: Fox Deity
Powers:
Without fusing, Kyouka is granted enhanced body system like enhanced self healing, speed, strength, metabolism, immune system, intelligence(more memory storage but still has a limit). Fire resistance(this applies to low tier fire magic), standard fire and lightning magic which in this case is generally weaker.Kyouka can only use diluted versions of it, lightning on the other hand has a high mana consumption rate and she barely uses it. Like all Kitsune, Kyouka is granted the power to use illusions but in her case it's totally limited and weak.

Lastly, shapeshifting but it needs practice since Kyouka sucks at this anyway. Kyouka is restricted to only using standard fire/lightning magic and standard illusions. Without magic, Kyouka compensates with her war fan and sword skills.

Personality:
She is known to have a bubbly personality, and a little light headed and carefree. She openly states that she likes to have fun and tease Kyouka inside her head most of the times.

Fusion:
The fusion appearance of both Inari and Kyouka appears to be the Fox Deity itself. Kyouka now has longer fox ears, more tails(up to 3 since more than 3 hurts for Kyouka) colored orange with white edges at the end of each tails. Although some may consider it obscene, Kyouka has zero clothing which makes her appear in the nude, yes she is embarrassed but she has to deal with it. Her hair color changes into a golden-red fire color which is glowing, giving it a burning feel. (Though in the nude, she has fiery body paints covering her whatever you don't wanna know)

She also gains the ability to use fox flames, condensed from her tails, summon three types of weapons, a sword, a fan and a Naginata. Kyouka is basically increased 4x in power when it comes to fire magic, lightning magic and illusions, she can't maintain the fusion long because it only lasts for 8 minutes.

Summon:
Inari is able to use all 9 tails at once, have access to more Japanese Weapons(9 weapons) and the most notable weapon she uses is a Magatama which is a spiritual weapon, she has 9 Magatama appearing in each tail which can be launched as projectiles. She can perform better versions of Kyouka's illusions, fire, and lightning magic on a bigger scale but not something that can destroy a mountain or a city. Her shapeshifting abilities are way better than Kyouka, she is unique of having levitation(limited) and self teleportation which is exclusive to her, her telepathy is communication stream instead of reading minds.
Done. I totally nerfed what a full 9 tail fox can do.

Name: Yuudai (Yuu) Akimoto
Age: 16
Appearance: "So what if I'm not a hero? Give it time."
Personality: Yuu is very much the guy of guy who grew up wanting to be a hero. He idolized the hero in every anime he ever watched. However despite his good intentions he can be very full of himself and air headed occasionally. He constantly gets in trouble at school because he stays up late at night watching anime or playing video games. He has no problem approaching people, but also has quite a few issues with boundaries.
Clubs: None. More time to play video games!
Brief Backstory: Grew up completely normal other than his strange obsession with becoming a hero. He works part-time at a fast food restaurant and receives money from his parents for an apartment and food. He almost always runs out of food and begs his parents for more money before the end of the month.
Contract:Raijin

Contracted Beings:
Name: Raijin
Type: Thunder God
Personality: Cocky, arrogant, he constantly berates Yuu for not being manly enough. However, he is actually quite the coward having never been in an actual fight. He believes he is superior to most other contracted beings even though in truth he is a low ranking god. He (like Yuu) loves to eat which causes problems for both of them. The two however are great friends and nothing could ever tear them apart for more than a few minutes. Akihiro loves being in the human world and seeing all the fantastic things humans have come up with since he was first created.
Powers: Quickness of both upper and lower body, a fast metabolism, and boosted resiliency
Fusion: Yuu's clothes and height become Raijin's. His hair becomes cut in the same fashion. In their fused form Yuu gains the ability to shoot electricity from his hands and mastery over katanas. His metabolism however doubles from where it was before meaning that without enough food their energy doesn't last very long.
Summon:"Come on. I haven't got all day" (minus the scar) Raijin is slightly faster than Yuu in his summoned state and can fire bolts of electricity. He can however also levitate to save energy unlike Yuu or when they are fused. He is extremely skilled with a katana and can slice a bullet in half easily. However, due to his nature, he is far more likely to run screaming from the gun than to cut the bullet

Humans:
  • Name: Mana Tachibana

  • Age: 16

  • Appearance: "I have a mountain of evidence on my side. A weak mystery like you will crumble!"

  • Personality: Pretty much an otaku for mysteries, Mana will relentlessly search for, and then solve, mysteries of all kinds. From the meaning of life, to who ate the last biscuit, Mana will do everything in her power to reveal the answer. She can also be competitive at times, especially concerning mysteries, and being beaten to the punch has the tendency to induce despair and worthlessness within her, but at least she understates her victories, opting to simply pose and pull off a one-liner relevant to the mystery in question.
    Despite the confidence she has in her problem-solving abilities, Mana can be very easily intimidated, or easily distracted by frozen treats. Fearing physical violence, and feeding her ice-cream, is the most effective way to sabotage her mind.

  • Brief Backstory: ...Nothing much worth mentioning. She's been into mystery novels from a very young age, so yeah.

  • Name: Lupa

  • Type: Werewolf

  • Personality: Quiet and obedient, Lupa likes to regard herself as a 'loyal wolf' to her Contractor, regardless of compatibility. This is mainly due to a personal belief that a helping hand should be extended to any who needs it. Of course, giving her a good reason to refuse a contract before it's made is still enough to deter her, but once the contract has been agreed upon, Lupa will not give up on it. Really, you'd need to be pretty puppy-kickingly evil to make her refuse a Contract. So be sure to avoid doing that.
    In a more sociable setting, Lupa comes across as more shy than anything, always replying in a meek manner and appearing quite lost in a crowd. Once she's warmed up to strangers, she loosens up considerably, but still has rather little to talk about. Hence, Lupa studies up on various literature and technology in an attempt to prevent future conversations with her from stagnating awkwardly.
    One thing Lupa hates, however, is her own lycanthropy. Not that she hates being a wolf, but because she loses all reason and becomes a bloodthirsty hound. While an adept Contractor would be able to at least prevent her from turning on them, or ignore any nearby civilians, Lupa herself is unable to control her actions, driven only to fight until there's nothing left to defeat. Because of this, she urges her Contractor to take every precaution imaginable at every Full Moon, and to not force her transformation unnecessarily.

  • Powers:
    In her 'human' state, Lupa's abilities resemble a Contractor more than a wolf. While she still possesses a keen sense of smell, her physical abilities are only enhanced similar to a Contractor's. Her True form, however, does possess higher strength, much higher speed, and (perhaps due to her crazed nature), resistance to pain.
    Probably worth noting that, while Lupa doesn't seem adversely affected by silver objects in her human form, the wolf seems unable to bear it.

  • Fusion:
    Actually, should probably be discussed with a Contractor first..

  • Summon: Lupa, when summoned, is human by default. Appearing as a surprisingly tall woman of 6'3". Her hair is a thick, wild, black mess that falls to her shoulders and makes her head appear much larger than it really is. Her lean figure and, well, lack of proportions can make some mistake her gender at first. Not helped by her seeming preference for suits. Because it apparently denotes supreme loyalty or something. Her eyes are tinged a faint yellow, and her teeth seem a tad too sharp to be entirely normal.
    When shifted to Mode: Wolf, Lupa's body seems to expands slightly, her back hunching as black fur grows all over her body. Her arms seem to stretch as well, and her features shift until she resembles a bipedal wolf-man.
    Ability-wise, in her 'human' state, Lupa's abilities resemble a Contractor more than a wolf.     Name: Hotaka "Taka" Kajiyama

    Appearance:





    Personality:

    A young man with an irritable disposition and an unwavering devotion to the well-being of his peers -- though it's not as if he's ever going to let anyone know about that last part. Hotaka Kajiyama is a tsundere something akin to a reliable older brother; he's probably not ever going to be down to cuddle, and he's hardly prone to flattery, but when times get tough and you need a good guy at your back or a shoulder to cry on, it's a safe bet he'll be there for you.

    Despite his rather prickly attitude, Taka isn't exactly unsociable. He keeps on good terms with his classmates, and he's able to work with just about anyone who doesn't step on his toes too much. As far as "fun" is concerned...not exactly his forte.

    Brief Bio:

    A normal guy with normal parents. Well, barring the whole "summoning gods and demons" thing.

    Contracted Being:

    "Mercy? Stand still then -- I'll give you a swift death!"

    Name: Bishamon
    Type: Bodhisattva

    Personality:

    The patron saint of warriors and one of Japan's Seven Lucky Gods. Bishamon is a goddess of playful disposition, ne'er unwilling to make a quip at the expense of Hotaka -- much to his chagrin -- or his opponent (She vastly prefers the former). Though her position as a warrior deity indicates her skill in battle, Bishamon is also a manifestation of the goddess of mercy, Kannon, and as a result is compelled to act without cruelty. This annoys the former to no end, as she quotes "It's like a damn itch I just can't reach that keeps me from taking the head off some bastard who challenged me."

    Powers:

    Excellent warrior, especially where defense is concerned.
    Posesses healing ability, but not anything to be used in combat.

    Fusion:

    Hotaka's features become more akin to Bishamon's; most notably, his eyes take on a distinct yellow glow.

    Summon:


    Not totally complete, but the key points are there.

    Name: Xander Hollis

    Age: 17

    Appearance: Xander Yes, sword is included.

    Personality: Xander is a rather moody and surly person generally, mainly because he is socially awkward, especially around girls. He is very serious about his sword training, pouring much of his energy into it. He tends to be a loner, but he really cares for people and has a strong sense of justice. He hates people who are arrogant or cocky, finding them tedious and obnoxious. If he does make friends, he would do anything to keep them safe from harm. He can be a bit blunt and straightforward, bordering on cruel sometimes, though it is not on purpose, but rather due to his limited social interactions. The only person that he is completely comfortable around is his twin sister, M Maya.

    Clubs: Martial Arts Club(Captain), Ultimate Club.

    Brief Backstory: Xander has always had a drive to protect others and exact justice and even retribution upon those who deserve it. As young children, he and his sister were both outcasts and even bullied by their peers. Xander grew to resent this treatment greatly, feeling as if there should be someone to punish those who had treated him and his sister so cruelly. This anger and drive to protect caused him to take a keen interest in the martial arts, especially sword fighting, and he poured himself into his training, becoming more and more skilled. Finally, he and his sister both agreed to attempt to summon a being from the other world to form a contract with. The results reflected perfectly their individual struggles and the strength of body and mind that drove Xander.

    Contracted Being:

    Name: Adrasteia

    Type: Goddess

    Personality: Adrasteia, better known as Nemesis, is the goddess of Revenge and Retribution. She is rather serious, taking her role very seriously. She has virtually no sense of humor, seeing laughter or fun as a waste of time, and she often berates or scolds Xander if he spends too much time "goofing off". She is extremely honorable, but possesses a fierce and dark temper when angered. She can be harsh, but she truly desires to see Xander reach his full potential, and is a driving force behind his continued dedication to his training. She is normally polite, calm and collected, except when she witnesses injustice or cruelty, then she grows very angry very quickly. She even scolds Xander if she believes he was unnecessarily unkind to someone. She has little patience for foolishness or silliness.

    Powers: Xander has only two abilities that he gains from Adrasteia when not fused. Firstly, he is completely immune to physical pain, though the effects on his body still occur. This allows him to push himself beyond what a normal human could endure, both in battle and training. Secondly, he has the ability to teleport to any distance he can see with his eyes instantly and in rapid succession. This makes him almost impossible to hit with melee or ranged attacks, though he is still vulnerable to area of effect type attacks, for example, a windstorm. He must be looking at the spot where he wishes to teleport, however, which limits his capabilities(he can't teleport backwards at all) and somewhat allows his opponents to track his moves by watching his eyes.

    Fusion: Fused Xander Xander's hair stands up and his ears grow pointed when he fuses with Adrasteia. In this form, his reflexes are astounding and his speed unmatched, though he loses his teleportation ability. However, in it's place he gains the ability to "feel" his surroundings, giving him pretty much perfect knowledge of the positions of every object, person, being, or effect within 50 yards in every direction. This makes him practically impossible to surprise, bordering on temporary Omniscience.

    Summon: Adrasteia Her sword isn't a katana though, it's a western sword and looks like this. Adrasteia's sword In her summoned form, Adrasteia possesses both the teleportation and omniscient abilities, though her teleportation ability is complete, allowing to her teleport to any place she can imagine in her mind, so long as it actually exists. She cannot use this ability to teleport back and forth from the other realm. She also has another ability that is directly tied to her nature. She can peer into a person's past and view all of the pain and anguish they have caused others to suffer, and then transform that knowledge into a powerful mental attack, ripping into their psyche and causing immense pain. The more pain that the person has caused others, the more powerful the attack becomes. However, using this attack depletes most of her mana, and she must almost always return to the other realm afterwards to recover.

    Age: 17

    Appearance: Maya

    Personality: Maya is shy and doesn't speak much at all. She is generally emotionally withdrawn, keeping to herself because she fears what others might think of her. However, if someone shows kindness to her, she grows attached to them, and might even begin following them around and watching them, trying (most of the time unsuccessfully) to remain unseen. She is normally gentle and soft spoken when she does speak. She loves nature, especially at night, and will often be found sitting or walking under the stars or in the moonlight. She has a deep love of classical music and orchestra instruments, and if she hears them being played she will almost always seek out the source and then sit and listen quietly, a look of contentment on her face. On the other hand, she hates loud harsh music, and will run away from the sound and even avoid people who she knows plays or listens to that kind of music. She has a secret fascination ant talent with the mystical arts and is quite empathetic about how others are feeling. She possesses great spiritual strength and strength of will, however, and refuses to succumb to the whims of others, fighting back with what little physical strength she has.

    Clubs: None, though she sometimes watches her brother practice in his clubs, or sits in on one of the musical clubs.

    Type: Goddess

    Personality: Nyx is the Goddess of the Night, and loves things that are dark and shadowy, yet not malevolent, but rather mysterious, bewitching and soothing. She is graceful and wise, as well as knowledgable of all things horrific and terrible that comes out of the dark, though she despises these things, seeing them as perversions of the creatures in her domain. She is gentle and calm, having a motherly disposition, which can just as easily become maternal rage if Maya is harmed. She possesses great knowledge, but is loathe to share it too much, as she claims "Knowledge has a way of corrupting people, as surely as power does." Nyx has a rather gentle sense of humor, teasing Maya about boys and her shyness. Nyx also is a lover of outcasts and those who have suffered, pitying them and trying to assure them that their pain does not go unseen, that they are not as alone as they seem.

    Powers: Maya has perfect night vision, able to see in the dark as perfectly as she does in the day. She is also able to manipulate shadows to a certain degree, cloaking herself in them or even causing them to blind or attack others.

    Fusion: Fused MayaWhile fused with Nyx, Maya's hair turns white and her eyes glow red. In this state, she possesses much greater powers of shadow manipulation, being able to create shadow familiars and black out entire areas with darkness. She also gains the ability to paralyze others with her eyes, though she must maintain eye contact for this to work.

    Summon: Nyx Nyx commands complete power over darkness and the night, able to move in complete silence in the dark, and becoming practically invisible if she wishes. She can form weapons and barriers of shadows and can heal herself while standing in moonlight. She is also able to dispel any sort of illusion or enchantment that affects perception to the eyes. Her most formidable power, however, is the ability to induce sleep in up to an entire city, or focus this ability on one person and cause them to fall asleep indefinitely, sometimes even forever, though she would only use that power on someone she feels should not be allowed to continue roaming the earth. Her sleep power wears off after one hour if used on a large group of people, but if focused on one person it remains until she decides to let them awaken. However, if she judges a person dangerous enough to use her eternal sleep spell, then nothing and no one, not even she, can wake them from their slumber.

    Other: Side note: Nyx is the mother of Adrasteia, and the two normally do not see eye to eye, though they do care for each other.

    @Masaki Haruna: I'm sorry to say I can't accept this. My main problems are that Kyouka's personality seems to be all over the place and...frankly, the contract feels more like a kitsune than Inari. Also, the fused form being naked seems...kind of random and awkward, if I'm being honest.

    @Taro: My only real objection here is that Raijin is a god. There's no real issue with making contracts with gods, just that, unless I've missed something in the things I've read, Raijin's not a species of beings.

    @Tatsua: To be honest, the only thing about that contract that's acceptable is the personality.

    @Roxas & Spoo: Looking good so far.

    @Kael: Both the teleportation and omniscience + amazing reflexes/speed seem to read like they could be used to no sell basically anything thrown at Xander. In addition, I'm not exactly sure what the normal/fused powers have to do with Nemesis.

    As for Maya...I'm not sure about the blinding stuff, but I'd be willing to see how that plays out in the RP and ask for it to be nerfed if necessary. However, if I'm reading it correctly, that paralysing ability is basically an instant win, since...there's not really much the opponent can do to break eye contact if they're paralysed. And...well, the summon is...I get that it makes sense for Nyx, but again, "everyone else is now asleep" is basically an instant win and "one person is now asleep forever and can't be woken up by anything" is basically the same as an instant kill.

    Alright, I have garnered enough interest to try this out.

    Humans:
    Name: Jordan Montoya
    Age: 16
    Appearance: "So, whatcha wanna buy?"
    Personality: Jordan was raised with only one thing in mind: those with the most money win. He's taken that lifetime family motto to heart and will do almost anything to make a quick buck. Almost anything. He's no Judas, he's not gonna sell someone out for thirty pieces of silver, and he's too afraid to actually kill for money. What he can do, however, is talk a good deal about what he's currently selling at that time. We're talking Honest John styles of talking here. Fast-talking, shilling, he'll even break into a musical number to get you to buy his product. And the funny thing is that the product won't be glorified snake oil. If he says he has a product that can do something cool and wonderful, he means it. With his contract, Jordan became opportunistic, looking at both sides and trying to strike a deal for all of them. As such, he's more in the middle.
    Clubs: Entrepreneurs Club
    Brief Backstory: His family came from a strong line of Spanish Conquistadors who had reported sightings of a strange creature with a gem on its head in South America. However, attempts to capture it proved infallible, as the creature would blind them if they ever gotten close to it and most importantly, the gem on its head. However, one of them, who would later become Jordan's ancestor, figured out exactly how to calm the creature and convince it that he won't hurt it. The creature smiled and bonded with the ancestor, giving him the gemstone as in trade for convincing the other Conquistadors to leave. Upon doing so, Jordan's ancestor received tremendous luck, as the Conquistadors ran off and left their valuables behind. This is the cause for Jordan's wealthy upbringing many years later. When Jordan was old enough, he was taken to a strange room by his father and was revealed the story of the encounter with the Carbuncle. He is given the gemstone, preserved for the generations, as a calling card to summon a Carbuncle to contract with, as per family tradition. He contracted with one and was told to treasure and respect the Carbuncle like its his last hope. With that, he went on his way to Covenant Academy.
    Contract(s): Carbuncle

    Contracted Beings:
    Name: It has no name, but Jordan calls him Carbie.
    Type: Carbuncle
    Personality: Carbie was summoned and contracted as a baby, so his personality and mind is pretty child-like, only cooing and crying to communicate with anyone else. Its too young and innocent to detect any ulterior motives yet, a key ability for the Carbuncles to have when dealing with humans with greed in their hearts, which is probably why he and Jordan have their contract... For now at least.
    Powers: Carbie can blind people for a few seconds. He is able to sense the desires in people's hearts, though only to judge whether they want the gemstone on his head for wealth or not. As he is still in an infantile stage, however, he won't be able to put two and two together and will just give the gemstone regardless.
    Fusion: Jordan's top-hat turns into a large jewel crown on his head, while his jacket turns into a long, pink gemstone cape, broken to small tiny pieces so as to flutter about in the wind and not be a hassle for him. The gemstone on the Carbuncle's forehead now becomes the gemstone on Jordan's chest, and it acts as the main source for his powers. However, because the forehead gem isn't clear as crystal in what it can do, his power is being able to blind people, the same power that Carbie has, though lasting for at least half a minute.
    Summon: "Coooo..." Carbie can produce gemstones from its forehead, which fall out in time only to be replaced by another gemstone. Each gemstone has a magical affinity, always elemental. One gemstone could spew out fire, while another could simply shock you with lightning. Because of his age, these gemstones are more likely than not weak compared to say, an elemental-based Contract would have, but there's the added benefit that anyone with magic can use these gemstones.

    The character starts off with the power of "if it looks like I'm not going to win, I get a power boost to make sure I win"...which they exploit by trying to make things seem more challenging, she gets a permanent power boost whenever she wins at anything...which naturally, is a huge part of the character's personality, on top of this, she has apparently NEVER lost at anything, meaning she's presumably starting off ridiculously powerful...and will just keep getting stronger, she's on her way to becoming a demigod, which...no. And the summon...Why the hell would I let something with the power to just declare "I win" in? If I'm banning powers for being too much of an instant win, it should go without saying that I'm not going to let the power to instantly win in.

    1: You should consider that she's just a highschool girl. Girls her age are usually ridiculously weak to begin with, so without a power boost she would be losing to most boys her age and virtually everybody older than her.
    2: She's a highschool girl, her Victor's boost is based entirely on the awesomeness of her victory. Winning a game of ping pong or a small local track and field competition would give her only a minuscule boost...
    3: "She's on her way to becoming a demigod."
    ...Yeah, which is totally unlike forming a contract of power with a supernatural being. /logic

    Bonus Round: Nike's power only declares a winner, they have to actually win first...

    1: You should consider the fact that basically the entire cast so far are highschool girls. On top of that, as the OP says, there's already probably some degree of power boost that comes just from a contract. On top of that, your character gets more powerful in the event that she's not going to win. On top of that, she gets permanent power boosts any time she wins anything.
    2: If her club's built around assorted competitions, which she will win, because she always wins, then those miniscule boosts will stack up over time.
    3: So, basically, that entire power does absolutely nothing and won't be there? Good to hear.
