There's a saying. If you fall in a dream and don't wake up before hitting the ground, you die in real life. But...what happens when you fall...and you fall and fall and fall...and you never hit. You spiral out of control, you spin and topple, screaming and screaming. And what if you fall for so long...that all you want is to hit the bottom. And die. And end it. And never wake up.
What happens when you fall in a Nightmare, but the Nightmare refuses to let you die?

Premise
You are a High School student who, night after night, find themselves stuck within the Nightmares, an alternate world filled with traps, deadly apparitions, and insane lost souls. Imprisoned within a twisted game by a being calling itself Ixxus, you must work together with your fellow prisoners to escape and free yourselves from this never ending nightmare before you die or go insane.

The RP will be split into two alternative segments: The Nightmares, and The Waking
When in the Nightmare world, you will be facing horrors and life threatening situations. I tend to run my RPs as "If you do something stupid, you'll probably die" to prevent anyone from just going gung-ho all the time. Don't worry, I will give PLENTY of warning if you're actions would even potentially result in something fatal, I won't just kill you off without reason or without your consent. But stupidity will result in punishment *example: Running into a hopeless situation to try and fight your way out when it's very clear you need to be running, I will take a limb at best, but you'll be given the chance to redact that action and try something else*
You're weapons? Pacts made with desperate, dying spirits. In exchange for a precious sacrifice, you are given an ability to help even the playing field. Read the Pact section to find out more specifics.
Out of the Nightmare world, you will be expected to carry on relationships *friendships and romances* and character development between players *these events should effect your character greatly, and other player's actions should as well* but more importantly you'll have to keep morale up not just for your own character, but others that will be forced into the situations with you. Keeping depression in your mind and not helping each other will result in consequences not only for you, but the rest of the group. Thus, it is important that you try and keep some things lighthearted, lest someone's mind snaps. Including yours.

Your ultimate goal? Find and stop Ixxus and free yourself from this nightmarish curse.

I will be filling out our ranks with a healthy portion of characters that will be controlled by me. These friends and loved ones will join us within the nightmare, but their motivations, goals, and personalities are their own and complex. You should consider them as multiple characters, not side characters. If they go insane, they may kill themselves in front of you or actively betray you. And I will make sure it is at a very inopportune time. However, I will hold off on making these characters until I see how many folks join, and so I don't inadvertently take an ability you may want.

You are MORE than welcome to ask me to make a supporting character for you, or to use any of the characters I make, including my main, as friends or acquaintances to your own character.

Name: Argo Shepherd

Age: Eighteen

Gender: Male

Physical Description: Standing at a meager five foot even and weighing at a solid ninety pounds, Argo is small in size. His skin is pale, to the point that some parts are a pink-ish hue. His shoulders, for instance, pink at the hint of sunlight, as do his knees, his cheeks, his ears and his nose. He has a head full of soft, dull blonde hair, as though bleached repeatedly. Argo assures, however, that it is natural, and as photographs of younger years show, it seems indeed to be genuine. His eyes are an ocean green with hints of a blueish hue. Considering his curls it is very hard to see, but Argo has a mole right under his left eye. The young man usually composes himself with a posture of perfection, standing with his back straight and feet planted on the ground, though he does have the bad habit of tip toeing now and again.

Pact: Argo made a trade with a spirit named Uego. She is sweet at times, like a mother eager to get all up in her kids' business, but if shown disrespect will show the other side of the coin- that is to say, Uego gets really, really, nasty. She enjoys the company of others, but only shows affection if shown affection tenfold back. Uego took Argo's voice upon entering the Nightmare, granting Argo the gift to create bubbles. When made small, Argo is able to create a massive amount, their popping causing damage to anything the residue touches. He is only able to create a finite amount of bubbles, unable to make anything past the number until more bubbles pop. Argo also has the option of creating a bubble large enough to hold him and provide a suitable defense.

Personality: Argo tends to be on the overly friendly side, and sometimes a bit too touchy-feely for others' comfort. Small in size but loud in spirit, Argo is very energetic and eager, often voicing his thoughts prior to mulling them over in his head. When he sings his favourite Christian hymns, however, his blonde curls almost trick the eye into a halo, his sea green eyes reminiscent to an untouchable angel. Other than that, however, Argo acts as your typical ten-year-old.

Name: Azalea Crowe
Age: 16

Physical Description:
Azalea has a lithe runner's build, all muscled and toned from many years on the track, and has likewise tanned skin from being outdoors so often. Her raven colored hair is cut short except for twin tails that hang down to her mid-back, dyed lavender at the tips. Her slightly slanted eyes are amber in their coloration. On her collarbone, usually hidden from sight, are three small star tattoos. She stands at 6'3'', and usually slouches or leans against something nearby with her hands in her pockets to make herself less intimidating.

In the Nightmare, her legs below her knees are completely gone. In their place are two gaping holes that Azalea tries to keep covered up as best as possible.

Pact:
Orion is a manipulative spirit who, even in it's dire circumstances, likes to play with other beings. It will undergo immense measures to amuse itself, and the more amusement it gets, the more it requires - an undying thirst.

It's Pact with Azalea was one of it's most amusing ventures in a long while; in return for the ability to summon magical cubes, it took away most of her legs. She can summon up to 4 small cubes (each just large enough for her to sit on) or one large cube (4 foot high by 4 foot wide). The cubes are fragile to those with hostile intent and can be easily destroyed with one hit. However, to those with peaceful intentions, the cubes can withstand any punishment. She can control their movements with concentration.

Personality:
Calling Azalea high energy wouldn't really describe her properly. Sure, she has plenty of energy, but she prefers to laze around and play video games more than she likes to be up and about. The only thing that'll get Azalea on her feet most days is the promise of running on the track, the thing she loves best.

While she is normally okay with just about everything, she hates drama or conflict and will actively avoid all situations involving them with a passion. She has a welcoming smile and a joke at the ready more often that not, and prefers to keep things lighthearted.

Name: Cartel Drought
Age: 16
Gender: M
Physical Description: Cartel is rather.... disproportionate. While he stands at a relatively average 5'11", his arms reach at least half a foot past his knobby knees, and are covered with deep scars. Similarly oversized are his rough, thick-fingered hands, also with slashes across them. His mouth is abnormally widened into a toothy maw, which he hides under a long, striped, grey and black scarf to avoid scaring others.

The rest of Cartel is normal; his black hair is long and windswept, his eyes are a deep blue, and his skin is fair. He usually wears a grey long-sleeve along with faded jeans.

Pact: Avira, a distant seeming spirit. While technically a "good" spirit, she isn't necessarily a pacifist. Sensing his goodwill, she offered to give him more power to protect others. At the cost of his emotions, Cartel receives tree-like qualities that give him limited physical resistance and allows him to grow up to 12 feet temporarily.

Personality: Quiet and kind-hearted, his helpful actions often go unnoticed. While he can be rather introverted at times, Cartel isn't shy; he's actually bolder than most. He's fiercely protective of others, but shows little self -worth. Cartel shrugs things off easily, and is incredibly level-headed about most situations.

Name: Tamara Jane Winstanley – Friends call her: TamTam and family calls her: "TJ"

Gender: Female Homosexual.

Physical Description:

Tamara Jane is 5' 1' tall but will always claim she's “Five foot- one-and-a-half.” Though short, she works out a lot and is one of the fittest of the cheer squad. Working out is her thing and helps to calm her since she can be hyperactive; the girl seems to have a store of unending energy. Some may find her too muscular to fit the cheerleader mould but she has more than enough curves to remain “feminine” for male visual consumption.

She has a new hairstyle with bangs and shoulder length jet black hair, making her big sky blue eyes look even bigger. TamTam has a heart shaped face with big pink lips always held in a smile or grin. She is normally seen wearing: White sneakers, baggy jeans, mid-riff-four-pack-revealing printed tops, jelly bracelets, rainbow nails, dark eye make-up, and always with her “crew's” signature dog collar.

Pact:

Duplo - Her spirit is one of depression and sorrow. It will give her the power to “shine bright in the Bad Places;” TamTam will be able to radiate all colours from the rainbow, or just focus it all into bright white light. This happy-radiant-aura was what the spirit knew when it was still powerful... for that is what it was meant to crush completely then feed upon. And so it will feed upon the memory of her dead first love, Crystal-Lynne, and when Tamara Jane opens her eyes in the waking world, she will wake as if she never knew Crystal-Lynne ever died. The terrible sorrow of TamTam's daily heart-breaking realization that her first love: LynLyn is actually dead... this is what Duplo will feed upon.

Personality:

TJ, as her family calls her has always been energetic, loud, happy and constantly chatting your ear off. She tends to puts up a tough, 'what-evs-I-don't-care' front sometimes when dealing with adversity, but underneath it all she's still a happy little girl that loves her family no matter what. She comes by to chat and helps her sister, Kaylee (24) at the family hair salon too. She works there part time, and still finds time to do cheer squad, work out and help out at home too. Cheerleading and working out help her vent out her frustrations and anxieties since her family does not have a lot of money. The two Winstanley young women are helping to pay for their mom's medical bills. And they still owe on the house too.

Her “urban” or “street” is just her way of covering up for the fact that she can only afford to buy cheap or discounted clothes. She tends to make it work and some younger girls in the neighbourhood do copy her style and some of her sayings: “'Sup, biyatches, hells yesh, you know me, lil' bit o' love with a whole lotta' hugs, give it up: Boob bump!”

Tousled auburn hair, Freckles that dot the expanse of his nose, and the upper part of his cheeks, eyes that brandish a hazel hue lighter than most chocolates, a majority of people would look at Zeke and think of him as a normal kid, were it not for the piercings and tattoos he was so adamant about getting on his 16th birthday. The large gauges on his ear often catch the attention of others people anything else, and admittedly he's lost a few friends whose parents thought it was unbecoming of a young man to look like he did, and he regrets a few piercings in places that'd he's not totally proud of. One should learn that the piercings never made the man. Zeke Also has an assortment of tattoos on his body, that far exceeds the piercings, he likes these more than them. Beyond this, Zeke stands at an exact 6'0ft, and has a rather fit, lean body for a teenager, yet he has good balance of upper and lower body strength due to his early days in gymnastics. His skin is an olive color, and contrast well with the brown freckles that dot his upper shoulders, face, and back. Typically, Zeke is seen wearing hoodies, or sweaters that are far too large for his own body, even in considerable heat, he is also often seen with a hat of some kind whether it be a beanie or cap.

Pact:
Treva is it's name, and laziness is it's game. This spirit has been relatively sluggish about it's entire experience, this had led to it becoming a weakling due to it's severe inactivity. For once, realizing it's imminent death, it decided to do something other than wallow around, it was perhaps luck that it came across Zeke. For the most part it can seem indifferent to may things, and Treva and Zeke never seem to get along since their persona's are at odds with one another

Treva's pact with Zeke includes him being able to absorb materials of all types into his body, materials like iron, wood, water, marble, paper, and gels. The more materials he absorbs the more he risks becoming statuesque or even liquid-like, so it's important for him not to absorb too many materials. Usually depending on what he absorbs the material can be damaged, and he can lose limbs like this, or if he absorbed something metallic, he'd have to be careful not to let his vital organs come in contact with the power or else he'll more than likely die. In return for this pact, Zeke cannot see the faces of anyone he associates with, so faces usually look a distorted, and garbled mess every time he tries to focus on them.

Personality:
Passionate and full of nervous energy Zeke is only at peace when meditating, his emotional state can be described as fragile, but that is not something he regularly shows, in fact he is quite shy, though most people take him for a moody outcast. That's not to say he proves them wrong with his hearty laugh, and personality upon approach. He tends to wander into conversation often with a slight smile on his lips. What he hates most is anyone who lacks common sense, or bring trouble with them. He tries to avoid trouble as much as he can, but somehow his curiosity seems to lead him back to it. He can be a hot teapot of anger when provoked, and he has been in his fair share of scuffles. He has a fairly odd sense of humor, and is very easily moved by his emotions, you will normally catch him crying at the end of some movies (and trying to hide his anguish at the same time). He's headstrong, and can sometimes jump into things without thinking them through, regardless he will still devote himself to whatever he's doing even if he makes mistakes.

Name: Margaret Reilley
Age: 17
Gender: Female

Physical Description: Shoulder-length dull brown hair, usually tied into a messy ponytail with whatever piece of string was lying nearby. Hazel eyes, sparking with interest and a bit of reserve. Being 5'6'' (1,65m) tall and of average built, Margaret doesn't stand out of the crowd. Most of the time she dresses for comfort not looks, preferring jumpers and jeans over anything official, and she tends to wear too much jewellery.

Pact: Sardhed, a spirit of 'minding my own business' was the first one Margaret encountered in the Nightmare realm. Weak and dying, but not decisive enough to actively do anything about that, it was not going pass opportunity like this. Playing a bit on Margaret's fear it offered to make enemies unable to hurt her, to which, terrified, she agreed without thought. It held it's part, kind of: it gave the girl ability to be ignored. She doesn't turn invisible or anything like that - she simply doesn't register in other people's minds when using the power (she would still show up on photos or recordings).

As a price, Sardhed claimed all of Margaret's knowledge about the Waking world. Inside Nightmare, she does not remember anything aside from what happened since her awakening in this realm.(just a quick redo, will be properly described at later date)

Personality: While talkative and full of life, Margaret tends to be a bit reserved and unsure around people she doesn't know. After warming up, though, she can easily talk anyone's ears off. While not extremely intelligent, she loves collecting various titbits of random knowledge, discussing wide range of interesting her topics, sharing facts or just chatting with others. She's curious and open-minded, though she sometimes gets a little arrogant.

Name: Jenna Lemon
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Coarse brown hair at shoulder length, often tied back into a bun to keep it out of her face. Jenna's eyes seem almost too large for her face, and are a dull blue. Tanned skin and a toned body show her love of the outdoors and sports. Short, around 5' even, Jenna is often called "Lemon Tree" by her friends, due to her height. She often wears jersey's and comfortable, loose fitting clothing that allows a wide range of movement, alongside tennis shoes.
Pact: Henth, a quiet spirit with a vicious sadistic streak. If it hadn't been near death, it would have loved to watch Jen break within the Nightmares. However, necessity dictated it help her live. In exchange for the memory of her deceased brother's face, Henth gave Jen a long tail that looks similar to a long, dangling spinal column. The tail allows her to maintain her balance easily in all settings, and she always lands on her feet. Her natural sports affinity has turned this into an impressive acrobatic gift while within the Nightmares.
Personality: Jenna is stoic and driven, to the point where inactivity makes her restless, irritated, and antsy. She participates in almost every sport imaginable, and seems to be excellent at them all. However, she is stubborn and proud, refusing to back down when challenged, and believing that if she tries hard enough, she can overcome any hurdle, even the impossible or insane ones.

Name: Terra Minsc
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Terra has blonde, unbelievably curly hair that sticks out in all directions if she spends less than an hour taming it. She has a bit of a heavier build, and tries as best as she can to eat healthy. Still, she has a strong sweet tooth that gets the better of her. Freckles adorn her face and arms, and she stands at an average 5'7". Often wears dresses and fashionable outfits in striking colors. While she frequently wears contact lenses, she can sometimes be seen in a pair of rimless glasses.
Pact: Halcyon, a friendly bubbly spirit that enjoys meeting new people. It seems to consider humans the equivalent of puppies. In return for Terra's sight, she gave her hearing so sharp she can use it to maneuver, similar to echolocation. Incredibly loud sounds however cause massive pain and disorientation.
Personality: Shallow would be an improper description of Terra. Painfully aware of society would be accurate. She buys the best brands, spends countless amounts of money on designer clothing and knows how to best accent any feature of any individual. She is far from haughty, preferring simply to look her best at all times. She cares for her brother deeply, despite his antics, and wants the best for him in life.

Name: Johnny Minsc
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Terra's twin, and all that it entails. The two could pass for each other except for one being a boy and the other being a girl. However, where Terra cares deeply about her appearance and tries to put her best foot forward, the best way to describe Johnny would be slacker hippie. Seen mostly in shorts, sandals, and baggy wrinkled t-shirts, Johnny doesn't even attempt to control his hair, which has become a large curly explosion that hangs down to about mid back level. He's incredibly proud of his beard, which he has spent the last year cultivating into what appears to be a patchy five o'clock shadow. He wears thick rimmed glasses as well.
Pact: Nocturn, a silent, somber spirit who only talks if absolutely forced to. A defeatist attitude permeates all it's interactions. It gave Johnny the ability to shrink down to the size of a mouse for a short period of time *never exceeding ten minutes in length*. In return, it took Johnny's memory of his mother. While in the Nightmares, he has no recollection of what she looks or acts like.
Personality: A goofy sensitive type, Johnny empathizes with others incredibly easily, to the point where the sorrow of others will effect him on a deep emotional level. However, he tries his absolute best to cheer others up, and he is one of the few people who could probably be accurately described as absolutely innocent in almost every regard.

Physical Description:


Pact: (I just noticed that this spirit is alot like Hellofalife's one, sorry :/)
Cledereux, a spirit who seems to be alot like John, lazy and aloof. Much of the reason on why he became weak is that he was too lazy to get out and make pacts, while on the verge of 'death' he meets John and they get along rather well with their personalities almost being identical.

Cledereux offers him the power of being able to make whatever he draws on a sheet of paper to be come alive, but is limited to whatever he can draw with his right hand, (He's left hand orientated) and the amount of paper of sheets he has in hand. Though it is limited to inanimate objects and he has to draw it carefully otherwise it won't come into fruition.

For this pact he had to give up his entire left arm. Which he uses to draw in the waking world.

Personality:
John is what others would call 'lazy', though he prefers it being called 'energy' saving. He'd much rather stay at home and sleep rather than doing anything unnecessary. Under this, he is suprisingly sharp and perceptive. His humor is laced with alot of sarcasm and jokes.

Name: Dan Townshend

Physical Description:

Pact: The spirit that associates itself with Dan is called Fhend. Fhend is a sharp and condescending spirit who does not get along very well with Dan. The pact that Dan "agreed" upon (agreed as in, forced upon by Fhend) granted him minor aerokinesis, the ability to manipulate wind. The strength of the wind is governed by how much strength he has in him: If he isn't weakened, he can generate an amount of wind fit for a hurricane, and if he is tired, he can't do much more than generate a cool breeze. Using the power can exhaust him however, which means he must monitor his usage. In exchange, Fhend's sick mind made it so Dan feels an immense amount of pain whenever he physically touches something, making it very difficult for him to navigate in the dream world..

Personality: They say when you have nothing nice to say, don't say it. Dan, however, finds that message to be overrated. Very outspoken, bitter, and sarcastic, Dan isn't afraid to speak his mind and tell others off if they step out of line. He's very defiant, has trusts issues, and isn't very easy to make friends with. Despite inciting various arguments, Dan cannot be bothered with conflict and will usually just say his piece and hope that the other party won't get offended enough to continue arguing. Some would say that he's fearless because he won't be afraid to talk down anyone, and others say he's just a punk with a bark bigger than his bite. Dan honestly just wishes that these people would get a life. Dan's also a bit of a perfectionist, and believes if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Bunnita and Litepow, sent you PMs about some specifics that need tweaking or elaborating on.

Plightz, accepted and in the list. I'll start working on the first post and have it up soon folks. To help with a little confusion that seems to be happening here and there, I'll give some explanations:

- The first post will be your character waking up in the Nightmare for the first time. They will meet their spirit in the first few moments *not necessarily the first post but that's up to you* and be forced into the pact. I will give very clear explanations of what each Nightmare will entail.

- The spirits are dead or lost souls who were trapped within the Nightmares. They are dying, they are weak, they are desperate and they need you just as much as you need them. However they are smart, and they know the Nightmares and know that you don't.

- They live in the Nightmares. The only time they can speak/interact with your character is INSIDE the Nightmares, or while you are asleep. Don't have them chatting you up in the Waking World. There is a reason for this that will be made clear later on.

- This is not combat oriented. You will rarely be put in a situation you can muscle your way out of, but rather you must think and work together to outsmart and outmaneuver your foes. Failure to do so will have consequences.

- Remember that you have to keep your moral and sanity up, use the Waking World events to recharge your character's mind. Your actions have consequences, and even a passing remark can lead to death. The question is who's death.

- Have fun, and enjoy yourselves! This is supposed to be fun, and I hope to give you guys some exciting and memorable moments, and I know you'll do the same. Never feel like I'm picking on you or being unfair, cause that's not the intent.
