Name of Faction: Night Lords
Species: Adeptus Astartes
Leadership
Bearing the Gene-seed of the Soul Hunter, as named by his father Konrad Curze, who bore the same powers as his Primarch, the curse of foreknowledge, the gift was imperfect in the Apothecary of 10th Company, but in the one gifted his gene-seed, it was not, thus rose Decimus, Prophet of the Eighth Legion.
The first member of the Night Lords to unite the disparate warbands since their splintering millenia ago, his gift of foresight allowed him to match wills with the Eldar of Craftworld Ulthwe, having foreseen their interference with the upcoming 13th Black Crusade of Abaddon the Despoiler. The losses the Eldar sustained that day crippled any possibility of them aiding the Imperium against Chaos, and the Eighth Legion gloried at the sweet taste of revenge against the Eldar's many actions against their Legion.
Most importantly, he reclaimed the Corona Nox, one of the artifacts of their Primarch, an object that carried his essence within itself, using the knowledge within, and the status the artifact imparted, Decimus wielded both his foresight and cunning to finally at last unite the Eighth Legion, purging all corruption from their ranks in a long campaign, supported by many who wanted the old ways back.
The Night Lords were pure again, all taint of Chaos removed at long last, many warbands had in the past, viewed those who allowed themselves to become corrupted with contempt and barely tolerated them, viewing those that embraced the Ruinous Powers with open arms as traitors to the way their Primarch led their legion in the past.
Decimus having foreseen most importantly, the climatic and cataclysmic events that led to the current state of the galaxy, led the Legion to the far fringes, hiding in the darkness between stars to await for the storm to blow over, as it did so the sons of Nostromo waited and watched patiently.
Now they come forth from the darkness, to claim worlds of their own, and to prey upon the weakened remnants of the hated Imperium...
Planets
- Type: Death world, formerly the homeworld of the Silver Skulls, a chapter founded by the Ultramarines, so it was because of this the Night Lords descended on this planet to destroy some of their hated enemies with great glee, eager to gain vengeance against one of the chapters that had driven them from Tsagualsa long ago, outnumbered by the huge forces of the now united Eighth Legion, the Silver Skulls were utterly obliterated, though they fought hard and made their ancient foe pay for it, nonetheless...
The Night Lords were victorious, and laid claim to the world as their own, originally a hostile planet, full of volcanic activity, the Eighth Legion had the expertise of Dark Mechanicus adepts to set charges in many of the volcanoes, increasing the volatile nature of the fire spewing mountains, turning the planet into a death world.
Ash chokes the skies, shrouding the planet in never ending darkness, a state the Night Lords find to their liking, though they are not necessarily pleased with the climate, they hope to find a more suitable world in the future.
All about the surface of the planet, are mortals, who fight with one another for survival, Chaos Marines watch from enormous stations that hang in the atmosphere, orbiting the planet and look for those individuals who show the most promise for becoming new Night Lords, picking only the most violent and skilled mortals.
- Population of 50'000, the nature of the death world(and the predations of human on human) ensure it does not grow too high.
- Industry: Neophytes for the Eighth Legion, the volcanic activity also provides many raw materials for the forge world under the Night Lords control
- PDF: Living in the hostile conditions of the planet, and having been conditioned by the Eighth Legion, the entire population will aggresively attack invaders, most importantly it has many ground-side anti-ship batteries
- Garrison: 20'000 Human Soldiers, 50 Astartes, 100 Neophytes, five Predator tanks, one Land Raider Phobos, and five Rhino APCs
- Orbital Defenses: The Shroud of Midnight, a Ramilles Class Star-fort hovers over the planet, formerly it belonged to a loyalist Chapter, who lost it in a warp storm that shrouded their planet, eventually through the foresight of Decimus, the Eighth Legion found it after the Ruinous Powers left, and have claimed it for their own use.
It is armed to the teeth and bristling with weapons batteries, high powered lances and extremely powerful void-shields, any attacker who wishes to take this planet from the Night Lords will have to match blades with this mighty battle-station.
Around the planet are also at least four other orbital defense platforms, forming a grid of defense to prevent invader's from merely going around the Shroud of Midnight
- Type: Forge World
-Population of fifty million
-This is the world that is the military heart of the Legion now, captures and the populace initially intimidated into serving the Eighth Legion, now they have become indoctrinated, while the fear of retribution should they rebel or fail in their duty remains, they have, like every other populace of mortals under the Night Lords command come to understand that as long as they obey and are useful, they shall be treated relatively well, even by some of the former Imperium's standards.
This world produces all the many weapons of war the Night Lords desire for their campaign of piracy, conquest and terror, for the first time in millenia the Eighth Legion enjoys what many loyalist chapters have, plenty of ammunition, fuel, and mechanicus produced weaponry. For indeed many Dark Mechanicus as well as former loyalist tech priests have flocked to this location, as the Eighth Legion has promised them to create, and innovate as they desire without any restrictions whatsoever, so long as they are overseen by Legionaries to ensure nothing gets out of hand.
