You can feel as prepared as you like but you only really know how you'll act in these kind of situations once you get out there. I know survival skills count for a lot, but it's not just about that.

Plus it depends on whether the game will include the same functions that force people into confrontations as the actual HG did.

Potentially work up the balls to commit suicide before anyone gets to me? I'm surprised Peeta/Katniss were the first to try, if they really were (doubt it). Anyway, I'd be kind of stuck there since I'd pussy out on the Cornucopia and then I wouldn't be able to do anything because I definitely wouldn't have the determination to do it without a neat sharp tool, although there is an edible plant guide you get access to beforehand, so I could figure out what's toxic and go out messily that way (again, I'd be surprised if no Tribute ever tried that). Maybe I could snuggle up to some sponsor and get sent an excessively concentrated dose of heroin to make it easier but there's no way in hell the Game Masters would let that through.

I would wander, never setting down for more than 3 hours, breaking up sleeping. I would want to get with Dervs, initiate a death pact, and hunt down all you fools who think you can bad down without getting fucked with by the arena effects.

I think it would be a close call between Dervish and Toellner. Both have military training, both are intelligent, healthy young men and both make their home in rugged country with a harsh climate. They could both survive off the land, though I think Dervish could gain more popular audience support but I think Toellner would be more ruthless with eliminating his competition. It would end with a show down between them.

I also want to say something to all of you focusing on cooking; this will be a rather short romp in this arena, with only one of us making it out alive, odds are not that great for anyone. I would not focus so much on cooking, as I would drinking water, I would not be above eating raw meat if it gave me more time to keep an eye out and it prevented it me from starting a fire. I'm sure the capitol also has the technology to prevent any disease I might catch as well, once out of the arena.

You'll be shocked about a lot that people did and didn't do in their lives. :p

Than again your other points are right, this isn't just some survival match as much as it is people going to the more darker choices that have to be made to win. Stabbing others in the back, poison, traps and even just cold blooded to warm blooded murder are all also factors... some people can do, others people can't and mainly it's all about the choice to lose one's morals to win and survive against others who probably done the same thing as well to kill you.

But by far I'm not going to say that I'd survive till the end, you'd be right if you said that that would be absurd. I'm just that I might survive a good sum of time if we all do the "Wait and survive till someone dies off" thing more so than the actual combat aspect...

In truth though I do believe it would be Dervs to be the last man standing from it all. Either him or Walker, who I know also had some training in certain weapon usage and even crafts his own when given the proper materials.

EDIT: Another forgotten factor to take into consideration is that I highly doubt they allow guns in the Hunger Games... So that just adds more of a loss to most people who are used to only such. :/
