Bruce and Talia had both instilled in Damian the importance of self control, especially considering his volatile nature. Damian had done fairly well in learning to control his anger, and he often coped with it by channeling it in combat. But when Robin dismissed him a useful "support" member, Damian's eyebrow twitched. Inside, he was raging. Support! What gave circus boy over there the right to dismiss him as "support"?! He had managed to kill Spook Nobody, and the Heretic without any assistance, as well as defeating Killer Croc, Bane, and Scarecrow on his own! He had even saved Batman's life from the Heretic at the ultimate price! And he was only 15! What had Grayson managed to do by that time?
Damian still felt irritated when Robin asked them to introduce themselves. It didn't help that the alien was completely unaware of the tension coming from the ex-sidekicks, and Beast Boy was smirking like some idiot with an ill-fated prank in mind. For Beast-Boy's sake, he had better not be planning something for Damian. Then, the untrained fool named redwood did his little show, which was exactly what it was. A show. What was this, American Idol?! This wasn't some social club. At least, he hoped not. They were trained crime-fighters. Emphasis on "trained". And his power? Fabric manipulation?! What would THAT be good against? The only villains Damian could think of that it would be good against were Penguin, because of the umbrellas, and Spook. Except Penguin was already a pushover, and Spook was dead. And then, the idiot went and made the ultimate vigilante blunder: he gave away his identity. Making a file for redwood was going to be child's play, now that he knew where to start looking.
Resigning himself to the inevitable, conversation with these morons, Damian stepped forward. "I'm Talon," he said. "Batman's son and latest partner. As for skills, anything Robin could do at my age, I can do twice as well." Damian looked right at Robin after that, matching his blank gaze with one of his own. Internally, Damian was fired up. He was almost hoping Robin would call him out on it so he could prove it and show up the fake son.
