"What are we doing here? I thought that you had given up killing humans long ago when you lost interest in killing the weak?"Gavril was silent as he sat in the corner, across from him his human host Gabriel was standing near by with his arms crossed, the room around them was a dark chamber, the walls were made of old brick and iron wrought hanging chains. The floor was nothing more then a pitch black swirling vortex, the entire room was lite by a small candle that hung randomly in the middle of the room casting a small but distinguishable glow. As the light flickered Gavril's face was illuminated faintly, his eyes glowing a deep dark yellow that seemed to tie the room together. To anyone else the scene before them would look frightening as Gavril was nothing more then a demonic figure before them, his body was that of his human host but it had taken on a decayed and rotten manner with protruding horns from his skull that twisted behind his head and curled slightly forming points on the side of his face. But there would be no one else to see it, for the room they resided in, was merely and inner illusion, it was merely the room which appeared when Gavril meditated and went inside his own head to talk to his human host in person. Gavril watched as Gabriel uncrossed his arms and made his way across the swirling vortex of the floor and reached his table, a chair suddenly appeared and he sat in it, the man across from Gavril did not have even the slightest hint of fear in his eye's for they had been together for over 4000 years, he was more then used to Gavril's inner most chambers of his mind.
"I have known you for a long time Gavril, maybe too long, even though I willingly gave you my body, you were still frightening to behold, it took me over five hundred years just to approach you. I have watched you destroy people for just the sheer pleasure, watched you bleed them like stuck pigs, drain them of their blood little by little, and torture their minds until they begged for it to end and even then you showed no mercy. So I know that when you set your mind to something to do it regardless, and I remember the day you stopped the killing, and how you swore...""Dont talk of that day Gabriel... that day was for me not for you. I should string you up to that wall and keep you there for a couple hundred years for speaking of it..."
"That might of scared me 3500 years ago but after exploring the deep recesses of your mind while I gave you my body, there are worse things to fear in here then that. I have seen your past memories that you lock away in your head, I know more about you then anyone else, so I know that even though you are filled with hatred and contempt, there is still a part of you that still exists from when you were alive."You asked for this Gabriel."
Gavril merely raised his hand and put all his fingers down say one and pointed it at Gabriel, with a flick of his finger Gabriel lifted from the floor and flew across the small room and slammed into the wall. The chains coiled around him like wild snakes quickly trapping him to the wall and securing him there so he could not move even one finger. Gavril silently got up and walked over to the trapped Gabriel and looked him dead in his eye's, raising his finger again he pulled it across his own throat and slowly Gabriels throat cut from side to side opening a huge gap, blood started to drain out from his neck as he choked and gagged violently. Gabriels eye's showed a small amount of fear as his head slowly started to fall but Gavril caught it with his hand and lifted it up so that theirs eyes were locked with each others.
"Perhaps I have been too lenient on you in these passing years, the fact that you speak so bluntly to me is an indication of that. Let me explain something to you Gabriel, the person I used to be... died long ago and there are no remnants of that man. Those pieces shattered the day I died, those qualities, those pieces of life that once upon a time controlled me gone forever. That is your problem Gabriel even in life you looked for the best in people, tried to find the good in them, tried to believe that the life in which you lived was anything other then the darkness that engulfed the world, a godless world with little children on their hands and knee's night after night praying to a God that does not exist. There is and only ever was one constant in this world, and that is we live and then we die, and then we are cursed to walked this plane for all eternity watching the ones we once loved slowly pass away and disappear from us, and then when enough time has passed we begin to lose the one we once were, our minds cracking under the pressure, our souls becoming corrupted and useless gestures of an mortality that was without meaning or purpose. You do not know what it is like to die yet, to face the endless years of pain and torment as you wonder this plain alone, no one can see you or talk to you, or even know your there with them. The only thing left to you when you die is the hatred in your heart, the only thing that keeps you sane is your own malice and the anger that consumes every pore within yourself."
Gavril slowly released Gabriels head as the wound healed itself suddenly and he found himself breathing again. Slowly Gavril raised his finger again as the chains wrapped around Gabriels chest popped open revealing his heaving body beneath.
"You see this life you live now is but a prison in which there is no escape, and endless torment that will last as long as I exist, you will never know death as much as you will never again know life. But I will prepare you for the day when I eventually disappear from this body and you wither away to nothing in a world you don't understand. Let me give you an example... of Pain. An this is merely a prick on the finger compared to the pain this world has to offer when you live."
Gavril opened his hand and then brought it foreward to Gabriels chest and put his fingers over it, with the tips of his finger on his chest Gavril began to push in, his finger started to bury themselves in Gabriels chest as he scream out in pain, blood covered Gavril's hand as he ripped through the skin of Gabriels chest and easily snapped the ribcage underneath, finding his mark Gavril grabbed Gabriels heart and took hold of it, then in one thrust he ripped it from his chest, blood splashed the swirling vortex of the floor making it turn into a red forboding pit of blood. Raising the heart up it still beated in Gavrils hand, raising it in front of Gabriels face, he looked in terror at his own beating heart, and then in one movement Gavril closed his hand and crushed his heart.
Gabriel screamed as he fell backwards, the chair he had been sitting in slammed the floor as he rolled backwards onto the black swirling vortex of the floor grabbing at his chest. Gavril was now sitting in the same chair he had been sitting in before, the room around them was exactly the same as before as if it had not changed. Gavril smirked at Gabriel, so stupid and naive it would take him a few moments to realize that everything that had just happened was merely an illusion, one created specifically for Gabriel. Even Gavrils host could not escape his icy gaze of terror that had ended so many lives in over 4000 years. Standing up from his chair Gavril slowly made his way across the black vortex and towered above Gabriel who was now showing fear, he seeped it from his every point of being, his host quickly scurried away clearly shaken from the illusion he had just suffered. Gavril snapped his fingers as Gabriel was lifted off the ground and floated over to Gavril as their eyes locked again, Gavril smirked a bit the fear was nearly intoxicating to him, the old feelings arose in him, the torment was like candy was to a child, delicious and satisfying.
"That was but only a small taste of what I am capable of doing and would do if you insist upon prying into my memories Gabriel, the next time you deny my words and disobey me bluntly I will put you in such an frightening illusion that when you come back out of it you won't know who you are anymore. All you will be is a quivering, scared little child who doesn't know the difference between reality and an illusion anymore. Ill drive you insane, and endless torment that you will never escape from."
Gavril became quiet as he slowly turned from Gabriel and returned to the center of the swirling vortex, with his back to his bodies host he spoke one more time before he disappeared in a swirling black inkiness of vortex.
"I will however grant you an answer to your original question out of if nothing more then to satisfy your foolish curiosity. I came here because there is a group of hunters here this year and one of them holds special interest to me. An that is all you need to know."
Gavril slowly opened his eyes as the small room he is subsiding in came into view, the room was realitively small however it had camera angles on the walls of the humans who would be in the hunt this year. Slowly raising to his feet Gavril heard a voice suddenly fill the room from a speaker somewhere around his current position.
“Hello everyone good morning! As you all know we are beginning our annual hunt! We have some very nice picks for you today, including several hunters that I know several of you would love as a trophy! Now as a reminder of the rules, no attacking a fellow supernatural, no attacks on the dome, and, of course, no true assistance to the humans! The humans are currently waking up as you can see from our live camera feed and the doors will be unlocked in an hour! Good luck!”Gavril was silent as he walked over to the live feed, his feet made no noise as he walked, swishing his black coat behind him he looked at the monitors and saw that the humans were stirring. Looking through the feed two in particular caught his eye, one more then the other but both were of interest. Rand and Connor were their names that he knew for sure. One he knew by reputation as a dead set hunter and mentor to a lot of the younger hunters, the other was in fact a protege of Rand the young boy named Connor. As he watched the two a small memory flicked in his head.
"Do you really think you can defeat me boy...? Your foolishness is only overpowered by the fear I can feel within you. Do you believe your the first hunter I have come across in this long existence? You hunters are all the same, you kill our kind with no remorse, not that it matters that some of us do not kill the innocent anymore. I know one of your rules kid, all supernaturals must meet their end... a rule I know well. I have seen so many things in my long years, I have seen a Hunter very much like you end the life of a scared little girl who was bitten by a vampire, she didn't know what was going on, she reached out for help, and the hunter sliced her head off without even the slightest hint of regret. You hunters say you are merely protecting the innocent from creatures like myself, but the only thing you are is another form of creature, in some ways you hunters are worse then me, and that in itself if truly frightening. You can spare me your hero talk, and your self righteous beliefs, they are nothing to me. Go home and live a little longer because you can't beat me boy."Gavril crossed his arms silently as he watched both Rand and Connor go into action, most of the innocent humans had no idea what was going on and Gavril was sure they would not tell them if they knew. As the time ticked down it would almost be time to leave this place, Gavril found himself a bit excited as the prospect of a good fight and maybe even if his own death and release of torment from this world. However he did not make himself believe that himself dieing was possible, for that was just another form of torment in his eyes. Hope was just an invention of humans who wanted to better a world that is nothing more then a darkness cloaked in the feigning light, and one day they would all see just as Gavril did... there is no hope only a cold, everlasting death.
