Salazar Slytherin's skill was a rare one, rare enough that any group of wizards would be shocked to see it in action, similarly to how any group of Muggles would be shocked to see somebody shoot beams from their eyes.

I personally think it's fine if she just talks to animals and has a way with them, rather than her actually being able to communicate with them. People talk to their pets all the time~!

Having a fifth year character is nice an all, until you realize they would interact with the cast only as much as, say, Percy.

Also, aren't we supposed to be first years? Because, well, you can't be on the team if you're a first year.

Both of your characters are accepted, AnnaBeth! Remington (It's PERCY JACKSON! ...Ahem.) won't be a major character though, right? I'd like the main focus of this roleplay to be on the characters in Harry's year (Ava, etc.). Rem can still be there, just not as a main character ^^

EDIT: Yeah, I forgot to put this, I think: NO FIRST-YEAR QUIDDITCH PLAYERS, PLEAAASE. Like holy crap, when I read that part, I put the book away and didn't look at it for a week.

Yeah Remington is mostly there to drive Ava forward as a character. He's a support system and probably a heart throb for some of the girls that make fun of Ava. So he is important, but he isn't my main.

As far as quidditch goes, she knows how to play, and Remington would have forced her to practice and decide what position she likes, but I wasn't planning for her to be a player for Ravenclaw yet.

Hogwarts is a big place, and while I realize that the GM has mentioned they intend on the events of the series to be happening in this, just sort of hidden away from our eyes, I have a special sort of question about it. I get that this is supposed to be maximum slice of life, but given that Hogwarts is actually quite a magical place, would it ever be possible for us to be involved in our own sort of adventures?

How will things such as the House Cup and Quidditch be handled? Interfering with those could very well affect the "Main plot", and in turn have unintentional impacts on the state of the school. Logic says that a few students shouldn't have that much of an impact, but just look at the kind of trouble the main cast gets up to! It's all very interesting~!

Will there ever be room for the other things that go along with daily student life? Will we be following the official schedule, or altering it to suit our needs?

Will issues such as metagaming be addressed? For example, one of the ultimate secrets of Hogwarts is the Room of Requirement, and it is apparently so difficult to discover that only a couple of people have ever discovered it, and all of them by accident. Of course, a player could easily just go "I accidentally found it, yay!", but that wouldn't really be that realistic.

Will there ever be room for different plots, not involved at all with the behind-the-scenes main plot that we can't interact with?

... Looks like a worksheet. :P I'll just try to make the answers shorter, then

1. Yes, because our characters will be the main focus of this RP, we'll be looking more at what they're up to. They'll see the Golden Trio, of course, but none of them will be besties or anything, so our charas will be off on their own doin' their own stuff.

2. House Cup : There will definitely be a lot of earning and deducting house points from our characters, but I don't think it'll affect the House Cup a lot... at least in the first few books. (In the later ones, Harry's way too busy to bother with that immature stuff!) Quidditch : If you want your character to be on a team, please PM me for a position. I'll have to say no Seekers though (awwww), because they're too... special. I don't want any characters being the talk of the school and outshining Harry for a while or anything because they pwned the other house in Quidditch as Seeker.

3. 'Altering it to suit our needs', definitely. Because who cares about the Golden Trio and their crap, anyways? ^^

4. Again, please PM me about these things. About the RoR, especially, because I don't want a character to just walk in/ know everything about it because their parents told them or whatever.

5. Yup.

In a weird way, I feel like Ava and Charlotte might get along.

EDIT: I like this GM, when they're actually here. Nice and active~!

By the way, I don't like people using celebrity pictures for their appearance. I won't make a big deal about it, but I might as well get this down now so nobody's surprised by it later.

I'm the same way about people using anime/manga pics for real life RPs based off of movies or tv shows. I am using the pics I have, because like I do when reading books, they were the two faces that came to mind for my characters. It's easier to write for them when I have a vision.

Well, makes enough sense to me. I tend to only use pictures where it's convenient, and very rarely of real people (because it doesn't really flow with me, morally speaking).

When I read books, I sometimes like to sketch out what I imagine characters look like. It's great fun, and helps me solidify the character's identities in my head~!

Nice characters!
I too am not a big fan of using anime photos for anything but 'anime' ish styled roleplays.
I've been in a couple roleplays where people provided a character maker so the characters were all the same style.

That I liked.

If you are still accepting:

Name: Caelum Liquin

Age: 11

Gender: Female

House: Hufflepuff

Magical Heritage: Muggle Born

Appearance:

A thin little thing with dusty ginger skin and a button nose. Her long nappy hair is carefully braided and twisted, sometimes it is left dangling about her shoulders, sometimes coiled up into a bun, crown, or other interesting arrangement.

At 11 years old she is a stick, with no womanly curves to speak of. She will try to make up for what she ‘lacks’ with a daring shade of lipgloss, a black-winged eye, or a set of heels. She has a fashion sense and an eye for detail that is more mature than most her age (which the uniform robes will certainly dampen).

Backstory/Personality:
Caelum was raised in London. Her father is a plastic surgeon and her mother a model, both muggle and ignorant of the wizarding world. They believed in magic abstractly. Her father made ‘magic’ happen with his medical instruments, and her mother made ‘magic’ happen with her body and a camera. ‘Little Cae’ made ‘magic’ with her crayons. That was all they knew until an owl delivered a letter to Cae in their high rise apartment…

Her mother and father divorced when she was very young. Her father took full custody, though she saw her mother very often. Her parents get along well, while her mother remarried twice after and is currently single. Her father never remarried, he is an introvert who mostly keeps to himself and keeps busy. He entertains the occasional girlfriend, but nothing that lasts more than a few months. Her mother has a large network of friends and toted 'Little Cae' along on countless fashion shows, gallery openings, concerts, films, holiday parties, so on and so forth. Cae quickly developed self control obtained only by children who spend too much time with adults.

Unlike her mother, Cae is introverted. She loved going places with her mother but preferred to stay quiet and watch. She always brought along a little designer purse full of crayons and paper, keeping herself quietly occupied with doodling. Her doodling became quite good as she got older, and her mother knew plenty of artists to mentor her young talent. Crayons turned to color pencils, which turned to watercolors and acrylic...

Her parents had been considering sending Caelum to a private arts-focused school when they got the letter.

At first Cae did not want to go to 'Hogwarts'. If it was so great why hadn't they heard of it? Besides, she wanted to be an artist not a magician. (Caelum thought it was some sort of stage-magician’s school. She had met a few magicians, and saw through all their tricks! She certainly did NOT want to be like them!)

Then then the neighbors from downstairs showed up. Impeccable timing. They were there to congratulate Little Cae on ‘getting her letter’. ‘But how did you know?’ her parents asked. ‘Why, we saw the owl! We knew it had to be for little Cae!’ The neighbors downstairs were kind but they never spoke much. Firstly because in the city it is customary to ignore your neighbors, and secondly they always seemed a bit strange. They were unnerved to hear that Cae did not want to go, and invited her over for tea to talk it over. They claimed to be wizards themselves, and promised that they were not stage magicians.

They showed Cae what Wizard artwork looked like. Moving paintings. Caelum was amazed. It did not seem like making a cartoon, it seemed like making something alive.

Cae instantly changed her mind. She wanted to learn magic for herself and how to make her own paintings alive.

Cae is eager to learn and very talented. She has a bit of an ego, and is very critical of herself and others, particularly when it comes to appearances. In that way she is superficial. She grew up seeing adults with many acquaintances but no close or permanent connections. The most important quality of others is what they could do or their status in society, not who they were inside. This perspective makes it difficult for her to relate to others on a deeper level, and also reflects in her art. She is very good technically but often her work lacks 'soul' or an emotional quality.

Personal Items:
Supplies: Paints, brushes, pencils, papers…
Wand: Wood of yew with core of Kelpie Hair.

Special Gifts and Abilities: A talent for art, plus a keen eye for visual detail.

Name: Richard "Richie" Corbeaux
Age: 11 (first year)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Average height for his age, fairly lean. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes. Looks a bit serious for his age. Not gonna see him out of his uniform robes much, but everything else is fairly standard (Jeans, tee-shirt, etc).

House: Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Pure-blood

Personality: Richie's a nervous kid. He's as awkward as you'd imagine most eleven year old boys are and he's doing what he can to try and fit in. His family is originally from France, but his grandparents moved to England before his parents were born. He doesn't from money, but his family isn't poor; they get by reasonably well on his father's wages as a court clerk for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

He's got a couple of younger siblings, and his passions include watching/playing quidditch around his village whenever he gets the chance and spending time with his mates. He's not a genius, but he does well in school.

Assets: 10 inch Oak wand with a dragon heart string core.

Special Gifts and Abilities:

Decent flyer, determined, and passable French he learned from his dad/grandparents (determined not to go full English).

here's my character

Name: Isaak Boyars
Age: 12
Appearance:

House: Slytherin
Year: 2
Heritage: Pureblood
Wand:
Length: 12 1/2 in
Wood: Hazel
Core: Dragon heartstring
Flexibility: Slightly Springy

Bio: His family is strongly tied to the Boyars of old eastern Europe who were among some of the most prestigious families in Bulgaria and Russia during the middle ages. The Boyars were not only powerful among the muggles of eastern Europe, they were also among the noblest of wizarding bloodlines in Europe. Isaak's family moved to England over two hundred years ago, and it was almost like a tradition to have a member of their family to attend Hogwarts of School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and they all went into Slytherin. Isaak was taught that the history of his family was one of the greatest among the wizarding families and to be proud of his heritage. Living his childhood with his brothers and sister was very good and grew very close to them. Being the oldest meant that Isaak had to be the one brave the unknown of becoming a first year at Hogwarts, and he was afraid of not being placed in Slytherin. His eleventh birthday came and he soon off to Hogwarts. He spent a good amount of the ride on the Hogwarts express, listening to other first years talk about all manners of challenges they would have to go through to be sorted. When they finally came to the castle, they were led into great hall and were shown the sorting hat. One after another, a first year's name was called and the hat would speak out loud, placing them in their house. When it was his turn to be sorted, his heart had been racing and he was nervous. When he sat on the stool and the hat was placed on his head, it began to talk to him. It said that he had a great amount of potential. The hat mentioned that he could do well in Gryffindor, but Isaak whispered that he truly wanted to be in Slytherin, and the hat guessed that, since he recognized his family heritage. The sorting hat then shouted out Slytherin and Isaak was overjoyed to be apart of the house. His first year was great, he liked his classes, especially charms and he liked occasionally exploring the castle. He is now about to start his second year, and he is hoping to have an even greater school year in his second year. He also has hopes of joining the Slytherin Quidditch team.
Personality: Like with most Slytherins, Isaak is arrogant, ambitious and harsh when it comes to voicing his opposition against something he does not believe in. But despite those aspects of his personality, he does have good qualities about him such as being very loyal to his friends and very determined to do his best at becoming a great wizard. He also holds his family in the highest regard and loves them very much. His views on muggleborns is not as ignorant as some of his fellow Slytherins but he does feel like they do not belong in the prestigious houses like Slytherin, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. He also looks down upon Hufflepuffs and thinks of them as underachievers. And finally, Isaak is incredibly proud to be a Slytherin and will argue fervently with anyone who insults the house.
Friends/Family members/Relationships?: His parents' names are Feodor and Anya. He has two brothers and one sister, and their names are Dimitri, Alexei and Anastasia. Dimitri is eight, Alexei is nine, and Anastasia is ten. Because he is a pureblood, Isaak has a lot of magical cousins and he gets along fairly well with them. Since he is only twelve, he obviously is in no relationships with anyone and will have no interests in having a girlfriend until he is older.

@MiddleEarthRoze, I was being in character by using the terminology Charlotte would use.

@Yog, Only certain kinds of Familiars are allowed at Hogwarts. I gave Charlotte an actual reason to have gotten permission for her Raven, but I can't see why your Ferret would be allowed.

@General, Has it even been confirmed whether we'll be starting just after the sorting or not? I don't think I've seen anything like that, so I assumed we would be starting on the Hogwarts Express.

EDIT: My mistake, I thought that your Ferret was your Familiar~!

I'm pretty sure a ferret would be fine..
1) Ferrets are pretty much elongated rats.
2) This is a RP so we really can do whatever we want

& If your character could get permission, then Yog's character could too.
All he would have to do is write that he got special permission (as you did) and it'd be done.

The difference is that Charlotte is a foreigner, and that where she comes from, Ravens are popular familiars. Ferrets on the other hand aren't really seen or mentioned at all from what I know (outside of a single mentioning of charmed ferrets in one of the books.)

I don't remember this, can you remember where you're getting this information? That was quite a long time ago, and regulations may have very well changed since then.
