Name: Arienne RHD (pronounced Rahad)
Appearance: Svelt gymnast body at 5'4". She only has synthetic hazelnut skin from the neck up and cornrows like this that only go down to the base of the neck. Everything below the base of her neck is segmented hard-plastic plating with soft plastic covered joints. She has bright aqua eyes that almost seem to glow. Oddly enough, she has the ability to transform her ears away to be replaced with bare skin (don't ask, something about being more streamlined an' shit).

Her bounty hunter outfit (not that she will have many chances to wear this while enlisted) is a mix of these pants and boots and the whole top portion of this sans skull mask. It still has the loose and floppy collar so she can bring it up to cover her face like in the first picture. In her off time she wears stuff like this and this with either stockings or pants. She always has gloves on except in private.
Age: 43. Looks around 25.

Citizenship: Horizon
Personality: Quiet, cautious/wary, and sometimes stern. Very observant of her surroundings and minor details. Can make conversation, but is usually not very talkative. In fact, she likes to keep awkward/oppressive silences and is amused by some people's discomfort. Doesn't laugh, but you can get her to smile.
Dislikes oppressive people, or those who try to steal/take/destroy the comfort, daily lives, honor, and rights of those without the means to defend and fight back for themselves. Has a great fondness for all forms of natural water and bodies of water and children except quantums who look like children, but have the voice and/or the mind of an adult. She will nope the hell away from that shit.
After a hard or challenging episode/decision in her life, she may burn/destroy one of her sculptures as a way to commemorate and support her progress.
History: Created with a raw Quantum AI by a 2nd-gen soldier who fought in the Race Wars, she was raised with a militaristic lifestyle for the first 30 years of her life. Then, seeking to expand her skills in wilder environments, she traveled to FAS territory and spent the next 13 years as a bounty hunter going after rapists, murderers, pirates, violent mobs/gangs, anyone with a bounty who disturbs the peaceful lives of civilians. It was during this time that she discovered a calming hobby of making sculptures and carvings using her myriad of blades, and the occasional chainsaw. She started doing this to practice and refine her precision and technique, but the act eventually began to take a life of it's own.

Physical Description: Basically looks like this and this. Eventually upgrades to have a backpack.

  • Beam Claymore: About as long as a cog is tall, this powerful beam saber has a containment field that can barely keep the energy in control. Thus, when the blade is swung, it leaves behind a beam trail that can block bullets and beams.
  • Hidden twin Katars: located inside forearm casing.
  • Complex and comprehensive camera system so the cog can see in ALL directions.
  • Lots and lots of thrusters for high speed and maneuverability.
  • ECM base Cloaking system: Physically, the Askalaphos is totally visible. But at long-medium to short range, it is completely invisible to cameras and sensors.
  • Little to no armor and no long range weapons
Wishlist:
  • Zulfiqar: Looks like this, but double sided and thinner with a modified handle and guard. The length of this blade is 1.5 times the height of a cog and the even more powerful energy is now better contained for a concentrated effect. The solid middle part of the sword is retractable for storage. The intelligent program of the sword will make it so that the beam part of it stays concentrated in the direction of the swing, but releases the energy on the other side for the beam trails to still happen. Downside, there is actually a flat of the blade, so thus if struck there, the blade can shatter.
  • Tachyon Harp backpack with more thrusters: Allows for subspace hopping for limited range teleportation (BAMF!) and disappearing, and more maneuverability through Dark-Matter surfing.
  • Large Shoulder pads that are actually hidden arms with normal beam blade nozzles.
  • Beam boomerangs?? Either that or my cog will eventually get head mounted Vulcans, pesky missiles...

Name: Corina Chun

Appearance: A powerfully built muscular woman at 5’10. She has pale white skin and dark black, military cut hair. Corina has hard, jagged facial features, and is often confused to be scowling when she isn’t. Overall, a quite intimidating appearance.

Rarely found wearing anything other than military wear.

Age: 28
Race: Wildtype
Citizenship: Horizon

Personality: A strong willed career soldier that rarely lets her emotions get the best of her. Corina has a great respect for authority and power, and is obedient to a fault. When given a command by a superior, her only thoughts are of the strategic and tactical ramifications of the order. Orders in a morally grey area tend to haunt her, though Corina will carry them out anyways. Over the years she’s developed a reputation as one of the best soldiers around.

Away from the battlefield, Corina is not much different. She is often viewed as cold and mechanical. Many find her difficult to talk to, as she rarely lets personal sentiments get in the way of her role as a soldier. However, those that have been by her side in battle typically find that she is somewhat friendlier towards them, and will occasionally go out of her way to help them if they need help.

History: Corina’s grandfather and great-grandfather fought in the Race Wars for the Federation, starting large military family that has served both the Federation and Horizon. Her mother, a soldier following in Corina’s grandfather’s footsteps, and her father, once a small-time politician within the Federation, defected to Horizon once the Quantums ended their period of slavery, along with other members of her family. Corina’s nuclear family was raised entirely in Horizon.

The youngest of four, Corina was the only sibling to follow the family military tradition. The military life suited her, and Corina quickly became an excellent foot soldier. During her time on the ground, Corina was often stationed in unstable areas within Horizon and tasked with containing those rare racially-charged violent conflicts in the nation.

Physical Description:


More or less what you see here, except painted in a black and grey digital camo pattern and minus the “wings” on the back. Maybe they could be thrown on later?

Weapon/Equipment/Special Systems List:

  • Arm-Mounted Multi-Purpose Weapon System, or the AMMP for short. The AMMP has two parts: the left arm, which deals in Mass Weaponry, and the right arm, which utilizes beam technology.
  • AMMP-L: The left arm has three firing modes. The first is a high caliber, medium ranged heavy rifle that deals a high damage output. A single round could destroy a moderately armored target, but the drawback of the rifle firing mode is that it has an incredibly slow rate of fire, at just 10 rounds per minute. The second firing mode is a small caliber, extremely high rate of fire machine gun, limited by its short range, relatively weak stopping power, and tendency to overheat if fired continuously. The machine gun fires at almost 2500 rounds per minute, achieved by utilizing four separate barrels firing in tandem. The final firing mode is a grenade launcher that operates at medium range. The travel time of the grenade launcher is very long, so enemy movement must be predictable in order to be used effectively. The grenade launcher can fire standard high explosive grenades, smoke grenades, or incendiary grenades.
  • AMMP-R: The right arm has only two fire modes, similar to the first two of AMMP-L. The first fire mode is a high caliber cannon, similar to the rifle on AMMP-L, except it fires at 15 rounds per minute. The second is a machine gun similar to that on the AMMP-L as well, firing at 1500 rounds per minute and utilizing three different barrels.
  • Anti-beam Multi-Mech Field: An anti-beam field that can effectively shield up to two mechs in addition to Farfalla, but they must remain at close range. At full power it has negative effects on Farfalla’s firepower and movement speed, but not much.
  • Missile defense sytem: Launches high intensity flares in an attempt to redirect missiles.
  • Heavily armored in order to sustain large amounts of damage. Makes Farfalla somewhat slow moving, but used in tandem with the thrusters allows Farfalla to take hits for allies.
  • High intensity thrusters that can be used in very short bursts.

Wishlist:

  • AMMP shield attachment: AMMP-L would be able to lay down a front-facing wall of armor, while AMMP-L would be able to deploy a front-facing anti-beam shield that can be used for additional cover.
  • Farfalla’s wings: While not strictly “wings,” they would be vertical thrusters that allow Farfalla to take to the air and hover for a period of time.
  • A reaaaally long list of various upgrades made to AMMP and the thrusters and such.

Name: Lieutenant Commander Pharazon CXS (pronounced Chess)
Appearance: Pharazon is tall and thin, and in fact, doesn't actually look very strong. Pharazon has chosen a non-gendered, androgynous physical appearance, and prefers non-gendered pronouns such as 'they' and 'them', but is fine if people refer to them as 'he' or 'she'. They have short, green hair, and serious, green eyes. Their face is usually expressionless, with a touch of amused curiosity

Personality: Pharazon is one of those Quantums who has chosen to break away from supposed 'human limitations'. This is first most apparent in their choice of gender expression. It is also apparent in their choice to keep their emotions in check, despite still being subject to them. Pharazon idolizes the ideal of what a Quantum could become, the 'perfect machine'. Pharazon is all about performing tasks, and following orders. Therefore a few things bother Pharazon greatly: though Pharazon sees racism as something beneath them, they have difficulty dealing with things that they assume to be unpredictable and prone to irrationality, that is to say, humans. While Pharazon does not hate humans, Pharazon is afraid of working with them for fear of losing control of the task at hand. Pharazon also seeks new knowledge and information, yet processes information very slowly. They therefore consume information through very traditionally human means, for example, reading and looking stuff up, instead of downloading it into their mind directly. Part of this need for knowledge also manifests as a desire to interact with humans, despite Pharazon's reluctance. Pharazon can be a bit blunt and forward, especially when a task needs doing. They may occasionally falter when it comes to being tactful. Pharazon has the unfortunate penchant for not speaking their mind when they should, and for silently shouldering burdens unnecessarily
History: Pharazon was created with an adult mind, and given free reign to choose their own future. Living in a Horizon that was well into its recovery from the Race Wars decades and decades ago, things were relatively peaceful within the core star systems, some might even say luxurious. Pharazon was faced with the philosophical questions that so often accompanied comfort, luxury, security and opportunity. Pharazon didn't know what they wanted to do with themselves, until one day they came across the philosophy of the 'perfect machine'. Pharazon found their calling, and spent their time disciplining themselves in the ways of the 'perfect machine'. Part of the philosophy, however, stressed obedience and service to the collective Quantum society, which was Horizon, so Pharazon joined the military. A fellow follower of the 'perfect machine' philosophy who happened to be working on a secret government project found out about Pharazon and decided to recruit them as the first cog-scan candidate. When Pharazon's personalized cog, Phalanx, was created, Pharazon spent a few years demonstrating its capabilities and performing tests. Due to Pharazon's success with Phalanx during tests, the Cadmus project moved to the next stage, and Pharazon awaited the next few cog-pilots that would be joining their team.

Physical Description: The Phalanx stands tall and broad. It is slow-moving, heavy-set, and well-armored, with two massive binders attached to its shoulders that transform into smaller, remote-controlled 'dummy cogs'. It's chest mounted shotguns and use of a spear means that it engages in close-to-medium range combat. It rushes headlong into battle, drawing attention, and making sure it can survive the punishment. The use of the Hoplites adds maneuverability, offensive power, area-control, versatility, and support.
Tactical role: Short-to-medium range vanguard melee skirmisher

Appearance: "I don't have time for you, I'm drawing."

Citizenship: Horizon
Personality: Chie has a personality that greatly contrasts her small, childish body. She has a tendency to be deeply sarcastic towards others if she decides they deserve to be treated with sarcasm, and she often quietly teases others. She enjoys greatly drawing, and has a deep interest in various kinds of media, including the current equivalent of interactive entertainment(whatever the video games of the future are) and various visual mediums, which she pursues whenever she is able to. Chie often draws or writes about these things, though her writing is significantly more childish then her art. In spite of her thick layer of sarcasm, she does still have the personality of a child and is surprisingly easily frightened and quite fond of sweets. She retains an absolute fascination with Cogs, in fact it could be called an outright adoration for the massive machines.
History: Chie's family has been present in Horizon for a long time at this point, her family being composed of two nationalities originally from Earth. Prior to learning about Cogs, she was fascinated with extremely old(and new) media featuring gigantic fighting robots, both realistic and less so, as well as various advents in technology. Her father, a scientist working on the Cogs, made a rather large breach in protocol and brought her along with him, where she learned about the Cogs and swiftly became obsessed. While he was reprimanded for this, he was able to push for Chie to become one of the pilots, specifically for a heavy, long-ranged Cog.

  • "Boom" has a basic folding knife stored in one chest panel. The mecha itself is generally unsuited to close-range combat, but it will do in a pinch.
  • "Boom" sports a series of cluster missile launchers, contained all along its upper chest section. These missiles can deal a fairly heavy payload, but shields or thick armor can mitigate the damage.
  • "Boom" has two long-range missile launchers attached to its shoulders, capable of firing highly damaging explosives, more dangerous then the cluster missiles in its chest.
  • Finally, "Boom" can be equipped with a point-laser rifle or a rocket rifle.
  • Basic thrusters.
  • Heavy armor, to make up for fairly light shielding.
Wishlist: This too.

  • Improved thrusters for rapid movement?
  • Incorporating heavy laser systems into the built-in weaponry.
  • Shielding improvements.
