Oh of course YOU would be happy about it, @Terminal. Two-for-the-price-of-one.
Oh, now that I'm thinking about how I'm going to do this. A suicide wouldn't be considered a bad end, would it...? Probably not. Ugh.

I suppose that might depend upon your character's outlook on committing suicide in the first place.

... Oh, so it was among my own characters I had to kill someone off?

Oh, thank god. That's a million times easier. I thought for a moment I had to write a death scene for Lloyd Irving, my childhood hero. That's a labor I don't think I would ever have been able to complete. Killing my OWN favorite character? ... With absolute pleasure. I could write one where I kill each and every single one of them. In fact, killing my own characters excites me. If I had to kill Lloyd, though? No, that would have broken me. This labor got infinitely easier all of a sudden. Phew.

Now to try to figure out who's my favorite character.

Would you describe that as a sexual thrill?

Also: WHY does everyone think I mean they have to kill off some random git they didn't even come up with? This is a serious issue. This is seriously three people in a row, what segue in the contest description is giving you all that impression? I'd really prefer to correct the passage to prevent any further confusion on this matter.

@TerminalThis part.

When you say "Your favorite character", we don't naturally think our OWN favorite character. We think of the characters we like, which isn't necessarily our own. You could change this to

See? Now we think of what we've created ourselves. Right? Maybe?

Fair enough. I'll see to it. Never mind that I already specify that it has to be your own character in three separate places in that very post, I suppose that segment is the bit everyone looks at in any case.

Also: Lloyd Irving? Eww. I'd kill that presumptuous snot in a heartbeat and without provocation.

*Pause*

In fact, I think I'd kill the entire Symphonia cast. Expect maybe Regal. And even then that's only because I couldn't be bothered.

EDIT: The first half of the prompt now says '...favorite character, whom is of your own making.'

@Terminal ... He's the guy I grew to see as the ultimate protagonist when I was way too young to be able to change any opinion now. I will naturally take offense if you insult him.

In any case, yepp. That should do it.

I do believe I'll try my hand at this.

Finding a favourite character was tough, but now the real challenge lies aheadβ€”I don't like to cheat myself out of a death, even if for but the duration of a contest. I must endeavour to formulate a death that both fits within the confines of the contest and the original narrative from which the character is borne.

Otherwise, it wouldn't be a challenge at all, amirite?

Just going to tackle you now before you go any further - from the way you phrased it (having a difficult time finding a favorite character), I feel a need to ask if you were just having picking between your own characters, or whether or not you were trying to find one elsewhere. Just to clarify in case you didn't already know, you can only use your own character/s for this challenge.

Sorry if you already knew that and I'm pouncing on you for nothing. I just want to make sure this issue is buried.

Which makes my task easy, since I GM'd the game my character's featured in.

Nah, 'twas just my various OCs from which I was trying to pick. I've scores of characters spread across a dozen or so worlds, but few stood out to me as individually remarkable.

Thank you for the tentative warning, though. I seem to be one of the few who didn't get mixed up.

Can one join as many or as few of these challenges as they want?

Because
The task is meant to challenge you, present you with something you've never had to do before. Broaden your horizons.

I've already done that, kill off a main character or favourite character. I often have a main story and then several stand-alone side stories/alternate universe stories and people have died in such side stories. So my biggest problem isn't the task itself, but inspiration for a new story with one of my favourite characters in which that happens >_< I've been going over options, but nothing decent so far.

You can join as many or as few of these challenges as you would like. I can tell you there definitely will be at least one challenge in the future that will make you have to do something you've never done before.

Also, just as a general comment not directed at anyone: There may be an ulterior reason to participate in all twelve labours.

Funny thing is, this isn't challenging to me at all. I fantasize about my characters' deaths all the time. Still, reading this thread, it is obviously a challenge to some people. Hm. Guess I'll just simply have to look forward to the right challenge to make me shudder, huh? ... Which is even more fun, because killing someone who ISN'T mine would have been a ton more challenging, ESPECIALLY when it had to be my favorite character before I had understood the rules correctly. I physically jolted with a burning feeling of apprehension and fear at that moment, feeling like it was likely I would have to pass on trying to clear the labour. Then it was cleared out and I could only breathe out in relief. Strange, really, how that can be so much easier for me. Haha.

...
Aaaand it looks like it'll be six-for-the-price-of-one. Might as well kill off their whole gang. Ugh. I'm usually fine with gore but... The sheer quantity of blood that will be shed is making me vaguely queasy.

So has anyone taken the challenge of figuring out the connection between the challenge and the Labor of the Nemean Lion?

@Psyga315 Oh, that. Lesse. Let me have a go at that.

The Nemean Lion was an 'immortal' lion impervious to harm, just like our favorite characters are to supposedly be so dear to us it would be impossible for us to harm them. The task is, in both cases, to kill the immortal being.

Pretty much. ... Of course, if the creator of this quest of ours didn't have any such intention in mind to link the actual labours with our labours of writing, then it is that simple, that too. He can do whatever he wants to. XD

So I started writing mine today, and I realized that if it was going to be this character -- and it has to be her -- then I had to give some backstory explaining what makes the situation so bad, since, you know, she's kind of got a deathwish already. Anyway I wrote up a summary of the backstory and now once again I'm bummed out that I have to kill her. Buuuuuuuuuuuut at the same time....... it might be better this way, if I'm honest.
