All this talk of interspecies mixing got me wondering just how exactly our various species are related so I made up this little chart of evolutionary relations just based on proximity to each other plus similarities in pictures and descriptions.

That is actually looking very cool, I wonder where my species would be once I get them up.

Probably as soon as you make your first post.

Oh, not sure if you're interested in adding this into the fauna list, but I've sort of called flax as peshk - used to make linen.

I can't believe somebody actually made a chart.

So you're telling me there can be a mix of Snow Brute and Ashen Hound? That thing would be a killing machine!

If two species could mix and produce a hybrid it would open up a issue not had between two species. If two species could produce even sterile hybrids would be chance with hybrid vigor that the hybrid is superior to parents. Could produce two different hybrids like lions and tigers can make either Liger or Tigon. So many possibilities and threats that could happen for two species. A species could die out but live on in blood of another species through hybrids.

Two species could work together to produce sterile hybrids to produce better soldiers. Could run into all sorts of issues between two species. Imagine two species both are ruled by kings and they can produce fertile hybrids, exchanging of children could result in leadership being run by hybrids. Would be so many possibilities but would be limited to select cases naturally until technology advanced highly.

I've also mentioned a three-horned yak in my post which are called 'gyag'. Feel free to add those in :X I'm about to introduce an insect that has a colored chitin used in the making of red dye.

Well, aside from one being native to the rainforest and the other to the tundra, I suppose it could work out somehow.

When it comes down to mating, however, I'm not sure that an Ashen would find the snow brutes attractive. No offense.

Well, there's a chance one could find a snow brute attractive. Love is unpredictable and all. This hybrid probably won't happen until the future anyways, when war is more common. At that point I'm sure someone will say, "Hey, we got this creature who is basically bred for war and this creature who is super athletic with natural armor and great senses. I wonder what would happen if these two made offspring..."

Here's one for the list.

The Mascuss

Their height at adulthood is about 70 feet tall. They live to be about 160 years old on average. The Mascuss appear to be fungi organisms that have the ability to use long, sticky tendrils to lure animals as a food source. How the Mascuss captures and eats its prey is still a mystery. They are nocturnal and emerge from the forests at night, waiting for something to come by and brush against its tentacles. In daylight, they slip back into the tall swampy forests and hide in the mud.

This Mascuss in its function reminds me of the "False Vines" my Soruli interact with. Perhaps a "cousin" of this creature attaches to trees in the rainforest. The False Vines are active at any time and may even have flowers or growth upon themselves to further camouflage.

False-Vines may also vary in size, some as thin as a hair, others as thick as the strongest of natural vine growths. It is unknown whether this is age or different breeds of the same base creature.

@Mihndar One hopes such make sense for the collection of created creatures you shall put together.

Here is an optional picture:

All this talk of interspecies mixing got me wondering just how exactly our various species are related so I made up this little chart of evolutionary relations just based on proximity to each other plus similarities in pictures and descriptions.

One is greatly appreciative of this chart. There had been pondering regarding whether my Soruli would even be able to have their eggs fertilized by other species since they have a bit of a "Free Love" style approach to things. This shall help greatly with future ideas.

~~~
A separate thing I ponder is:
When there is interaction between two different species aside from one's own where both end up in the same place, could such be treated as if it were happening at the same time?
To explain, the Aruson Explorers and the Ashen Hound pack will most likely end up taken to The Home Tree at this rate. May it be treated as if it were happening within the same day or so?
I can understand that being between the RPers, but I wanted to confirm with the GMs/Community as well instead of leaving it to PMs.
Cindorayi are omnivores, missed it in my sheet but yeah.
The last thing you need is more super soldiers, Neruu
In regards to the various species, noted and will be added when I have time.
I can change the taxonomy later; I just wanted to use real world groups to give a feeling to the groups and their characteristics. Oddly enough the term Carnivoran doesn't necessarily imply obligate or even strict carnivores. In the real life order, there are several omnivorous carnivorans (Bears and Civets for example) and at least one herbivorous member (pandas)
By the way everyone, i apologise in advance if my post rate drops or my post quality declines. That flu i mentioned a week ago has turned into Pneumonia, so that could affect my posting
Ouch.
Interesting chart. I think ignoring genetic technology, it should be determined in advance what species can have, even if rarely or with other consequences like parental death or sterility, live children. And if any species can, who would be the controller of them.
I never did specify the Platta type, but I imagine them closer to mammals than amphibians. While they do fish and can swim, I imagined it quite weak in ability. They are also omnivores in case that needs to be known. Also, I didn't know that last part.
Well. That also means that the hounds have to be willing to let someone else have this supposedly powerful offspring in anybody else's paws but their own. Provided they would even allow such a thing to happen in the first place.
Also, just out of curiosity. Which one do you see as "bred for war" and which is "just" considered "Super athletic with natural armor and great senses"?
Well, considering Snow Brutes don't have natural armor or great senses... I'm not sure why you put "just" there.
@NerevarineAwesome chart! I don't mean to sound all full of myself, but I would consider the Herenthor to be mammals, they breed the same way as humans. Sorry if I sound rude, teenage awkwardness. Don't feel you have to change the chart if you don't want to, or I if am wrong.
