Yeah you should be good, just check the PM about attack strength for your guy's moves and what I suggested about thinking forward with your moves.

I began thinking this morning... since Attack is effected by Strength then Defense should be effected by Speed. I'm gonna edit the rules accordingly. Same scenario for now, 1-5 Speed will have +1 defense while 6-10 will have +2. Signature defense of course would be double.

Speed now effects both how many times you can strike per post, plus now how quickly you regain life. Things to take into consideration when using a defense: if an enemy with low strength attacks and you're a faster character in terms of combat or raw speed, the enemy's attack would only be -1 and better speed recovers the lost health point and gives you another.

If this is in any way too confusing just let me know. It seemed like a nice addition for characters who's speed far outweighs their strength. You can now have a stronger character in terms of attacks who regains health slower, and a character who's attack strength may be low who's defense is a gangbuster. Originally strength effected defense as well but that didn't seem fair.

In other news I'm talking with @Aro about Co-GM'ing this though he won't be developing a character himself I don't think. Once in awhile he may make moves as the enemies if a lot is going on in battle and things get one sided. He's helped me run a stat based game before on another site so if anyone has questions and he's online and I'm at work or something you can send them his way or just @ mention him on here in the OOC. I'll get to work on an opening IC post when I get off work today!

@The Kid Lantern I still don't see how you're using IQ as part of the battle mechanics. So far it sounds like it'd only be a narrative element for the game.

Perhaps you could tie all three of the basic stats (IQ, Strength and Speed) together in a way which affects Attack and Defence?

What I mean is that Strength and IQ together would give an Attack bonus, as a smart fighter like Superman would know where to hit an opponent to cause the best damage as well as having the raw power to back it up. Similarly Speed and IQ together would give a Defence bonus, since a fast alchemist may be able to leap behind cover when the iambic starts to bubble, but a smart one would know when he should start running.

This should also balance out 'naturally gifted' characters, who concentrate their point on the basic stats over the 'trained' characters who have gone for high Attack and Defence and gained more abilities to chose from. Either you have a few abilities which would work really well, but which the opponents would be able to learn and adapt to quite quickly (hence only being able to use a Defence skill twice per battle) or a greater number of weaker skills which could be used more often, but to a lesser extent.

We'll see how the first amendment to the rule works out, I'm still thinking about something for IQ. Gonna try and get an opening post up tonight. 17 days at work without a day off and I have to work on Fathers Day so the wife is naturally trying to get me out for the night despite going back in at 8 am....

Can't wait to get this going!

I'm thinking IQ set at 1-5 will have signature attacks and defenses worth double while 6-10 would have triple. The Flash is a forensic scientist so he's got a lot of brains, a high IQ would give him a slight boost to stand shoulder to shoulder with Superman and Batman. Speaking of Batman, it'd make whatever his signature move is a beast. If his strength and IQ are high you're looking at a signature move worth 6 hp.

No opening post yet, gotta go back into work another 7 hours. If these idiots ask me to work a double shift on Father's Day after all the days I've worked w/o a day off I may laugh in their faces and quit today.

At times like that the ability to pull off your scarf and burn their heads off would be a great benefit.

Only if you can make the greasefire look natural, best way is to turn one gas burner off then on high without igniting it, let the gass build up then cause a flare up of the grease fire and BOOM!

I work in a kitchen too, I could totally make it work. But no, they weren't that stupid. But when my relief/co-worker, a new old guy, pops in and starts telling me what to do when he can't even be bothered with any kind of schedule I told him off. Dude expected me to go do the bus peoples job so he could get more dishes done while I was still there. Fuck that. I already do the work of 2 dishwashers every Sunday, ain't doing 3 people's jobs.

Next time the new guy asks you to do the busboy job, tell him "Thats a good idea. Since I'm already doing the dishes though, why don't you do the bussing before you get too wet this time and next time I come to work after your shift, I'll bus the dishes so you don't have to leave your station." This does not demean his thoughts but still maintains you as the veteran to the work scene.

I've bussed tables and washed dishes and even been a waiter when one of the others had to leave early. I know how much the stress gets to you, doubly so with stupid coworkers.
