Lol? I'm...yoshua171. I've participated in two tournaments, though that was awhile back. You may vaguely remember my characters Casana and Soria for their participation.

Not much else I'd say.

Hmm, I've noticed an unconscious bias in my characters, they have a tendency to be some sort of possessed person or thing, or something with a monstrous side/nature. I guess it was a bit of a project to explore duality of emotion or something. Though my two most recent military characters are a change from the norm I suppose, they were more of an experimental phase, as Isaac and Anna definitely fit my stereotype.

This is a distressing realization, i might need some time to consider the duality of my own nature.

I am of course joking about the last part, but it has left me wondering if anyone else has noticed a trend in the type of characters they produce? As I've mentioned, I believe there is something of a method behind my madness, but has anyone else got a similar thang going on?

Mine are almost entirely based in fantasy/magic, and prone to being assholes.

I've noticed, in the same vein, a lot of characters end up with around some skill/enchancement in the speed area of the physical being; either fast of foot, or fast of reflexes; almost to the point where it's no worry to avoid most things that are quite quick. xD

I have a lot of people who can use knifes on the side, have good reflexes, late teen to early twenties, anime colored hair, a good person...and that's the main things. I'm making a point for them to be diverse.

More importantly perhaps, what do you feel is lacking from your repertoire?

For me, most obviously, is women. I don't feel like I can portray a woman effectively, despite feminist pseudo intellectual bullshit claiming a complete lack of differences between sexes there is clearly huge social disparity and some biological differences between the sexes, and I don't think I can do them justice very well. (Anna is, for the record, my first female character on RPG.)

Next up is probably straight up good guys, though I have a smattering of bad people the vast majority of my characters fall into that shade of gray region of neutrality, perhaps because they are the easiest characters to set up fights with, without being a straight up evil bastard.

Also, the vast majority of my characters are ordinary humanoids, most even relatively human in nature, I lack Khan's fascination with beasts and monsters.

Female characters(I have one)

Modern/futuristic characters. Two things I never really wrapped my head around, as far as weapons are concerned.

Probably more non-human based characters, but that's just what I know.

I'm the opposite for the gender situation (obviously). I don't have too many earthlings either so without the social structures (and slightly differing biology) of earth you can easily assume these points no longer apply. Even with earthlings there would always be exceptions. For example, I'm not the most masculine fellow so there would be plenty of women who would behave more manly than me and kick my butt.

I'm opposite for good guys as well (also obvious). I struggle with making people evil because I always try for sympathetic motivations no matter what besides joke characters like Generic McBadblade. I do have some grey characters but most are clearly the good guys. I will try to work on more villains but will still keep them not evil for the sake of it besides a rare few.

I have mostly humans but some people who are half monster or whatever. Most of my other animals are joke characters like my samurai alpaca. I'm trying to come up with more serious non-human characters.

I also need some other characters not fantasy based and gun users.

Hmm, I find this kind of thing interesting and I figure this is what the Arena Chat Thread is for, so I'm just going to keep shooting questions.

If you had to pick one of your characters as your favorite, who would it be? This could be just because you particularly like the design of the character, or it has gone through some shit and drawn you closer to it (this would be the case for Sigurd for me, who though fairly generic as a character earned my appreciation for somehow surviving WOTW.)

If I had to pick just one I'd probably choose the Clockwork Man, though Fury is a close second. They both have what I think are pretty decent and fleshed out motivations drawn from their backstories, their designs are fairly original (the Clockwork Man even more so than Fury) and they're both really fun to play and fight with.

I haven't gotten around to using him for some reason but, other than my obvious choice, my next favorite character is Redden. I think him being too powerful for the fights I had in mind were the reason. I really like the guy I'm working on right now as well.

Well, i obviously have quite a few poltergeist demons - Meats Ghol, Baogun, Rauchnaut, Ido Nagarkal and another i haven't written a CS for yet. There would be a lot more diversity in my characters if i actually wrote them all, but most never see the light of the world.

I can't really say i have a favorite character as of yet, but really do fancy Vos'stoorge and i'm looking forwards to introducing my new character whom i'll fight Skalla with.

I'd also like to further develop Baogun, giving him a different backstory, raising his power level, but keeping his noble and calm demeanor. Pity his CS disappeared with the oldguild.

My favorite character is also very obvious, but why he is my favorite is a bit more complicated. Believe it or not. I have had more characters than just Scion and Dennis, but they were all experimental. One being an undead pervert named Carl that leaned towards being a jerk. My first girl was a necromancer, who's name escapes me, that experimented with all forms of necromancy across all forms of magic. My first bad guy was a boy named Derek that swallowed people alive. My second girl was named Aoki and had ice powers and was friendly, but a bit morally grey. I once made a psycho pony named Grey that had a thing for knives and a desire to destroy/corrupt those he thought were overly good, in order to achieve a form of "balance" between the good and evil in the world.

If I'd give a trend. It is the unfortunate fact that most of my characters have some sort of slow spot in their mental facilities. Scion is impulsive and makes hasty decisions. Dennis is misinformed. Carl was single minded. The necromancer was a straight up scatterbrained ditz. Aoki was too trusting and a bit gullible. Derek had poor deductive reasoning skills. The character that had the most sense was Grey, and he was a psycho with no moral compass. All my characters have some form of stupid in them. I am not sure why this is, but I find it makes me believe they are more humanized if they have these flaws.

I like characters with a bit of stupid in them rather than only doing the best choice of action the person playing them can come up with.
