Aella stood straightening out her clothing and shooing Nos back into hiding then walked down the aisle between the tables. She couldn't help over hearing the others chatting about Quidditch a subject that she found tiring. It was a sport that seemed to consume their every moment and thought of her fellow students and for the life of her Aella never understood.

She could handle a broom as well as most students and loved to fly in and out of the open windows of the Manor and flying in the rafters of the great hall to annoy her parents. Quidditch though seemed a pointless game because it revolved around the seekers yet they called it a team sport, once the snitch was caught the game was done. No, not a sport like football or even rugby two muggle sports she'd actually watched while in London last summer while dating Lance the muggle boy that made her parents seethe with anger.

Remembering Lance made Aella smile and not because she cared for him for she never did but for how his presence had made her mother forget her spiders and storm into her room. She giggled as she remembered her mother's red face turning ashen white when one of her Orb spiders had dropped from the ceiling before her. Before she left her mother had used the parental lash of grounding Aella till school began which was a futile gesture because she never left her rooms at home all that often.

Once outside the great hall and away from all the Quidditch talk Aella walked out into the courtyard then out across the bridge. She was headed to Hogsmead to do a bit of shopping and observing of her peers.

Nick Hornhill

Ever since Darius opened his big mouth, the only thing Nick wanted to do is Stupefy him to death. Fortunately, the breakfast was delightful, and his tummy still rumbling, so he busied himself with his bread and bacon instead. Although confident with their current standing against their next opponent, Nick felt a bit bothered.

"Yeah well, Ravenclaws are known for their well coordinated offense, they can sneak through even in the thickest defense of the opposing team. They're not even quick with their brooms, they just simply distract and then attack. Although strong, they are extremely weak with defense. You can be sure a few bludgers coming their way, it'll send them scampering about the field." Nick paused to swallow his food, "But the real threat is their Seeker, that Wade dude. Keen eyes, quick, and he's got a bunch of tricks under his sleeves. We should definitely watch out for him."

Of course Nick can watch their hoops. He has given the Slytherins a hard time making points the last time, or at least before they catch the Snitch. He can definitely do it again. He's been pushing himself every practice, and he'll be prepared. But if Ian could catch the Snitch before Wade, so much the better. And then 'plop'.

"What the -" Nick almost jumped out of his seat.

Something wet and soft hit his forehead, once, twice, all hitting the same spot. The fruits plopped noisy down to his lap. Annoyed, Nick scanned the crowd for the culprit, and then he saw him, seated with a blonde girl, a grin etched on his face. "Damn you, Ian!" Nick muttered under his breath.

Nick stood, fished his wand inside his bag, and then raise it above his head so Ian can see. He swished it once, flicked it twice in front of him, and then he traced a perfect circle in the air. Although he didnt say the right incantation (not that he knows it), he heard a few gasp, sniggers, and disapproving tuts around him. The gesture was meant to be rude. It was used to cast a certain insignia of some dark wizard once, some dude called Lord Moldybert, or something, Nick couldnt remember. But most people use the gesture now to insult someone, the equivalent of the muggle middle finger gesture. Nick knew that it would amuse Ian more than making him feel insulted. Pleased with himself, Nick sat down again, then started to attack his last piece of egg and bacon.

Damian fought the heavy urge to facepalm at Nick's blatant show of disrespect and rudeness. Lord Voldermort killed families and children, and yet the buffoon just made the gesture that showed him to be a part of the man's long-dead conquest. It was much like the muggle middle-finger - something Damian himself used an almost obscene amount - and so, he responded with a brief middle-finger himself, before glancing once more, over to the blonde female sitting beside him.

"Sorry for wasting magical food." He grumbled, taking out his wand and muttering something, with a brief flick towards his fork. It promptly turned into a green, plump apple, which the Quidditch Seeker grabbed and took a massive chunk out of. After a second of chewing, he swallowed deeply and turned his eyes towards Leo. The lion stared back at it's owner, and after a minor stare-down, Damian smirked and ruffled it's fur. "Why are you sitting by me?" It wasn't meant to sound rude; it was just stone-blunt and to the point. Damian was usually sought after by some girls due to his unconscious 'bad-boy, bad-ass' persona, but it was weird for a girl he KNEW to not romantically like him, hang around him for so long. Weird and new.

~Karen Antonius~

Karen had an amused look on her face as she watched the exchange between Nick and Damian, as well as nodding in approval after he apologized for the food. She took a moment to have a few bites of her meal before responding to his question. "Why does anyone sit with someone? Do I need to have a reason?" she said with a light smile. "Well, I suppose I can say for your peace of mind that I am bored, and I think that you're an interesting person to be around; as always, my assumption was correct."

As she said this, she pointed to Nick, then to the Dark Mark still hanging in the air. "Speaking of which, does your friend not know what that symbol means?" she wondered. Some time has passed since the dark times where Voldemort ran loose, but they weren't so far away that they could be considered ancient history. The scars from the war were still healing, and even if the new generation did not know of the fear Voldemort produced, they should still know better than to invoke his mark in the presence of people who did - like the teachers.

"I can't imagine that the teachers are going to like that very much," she said, mildly amused.

Terrabeth

Terra smiled after Devin after he left her room and took a deep breath. He was cute, she had to admit that. Hearing her stomach growl, she clutched it for a minute, her face flushing slightly red as she realized that she hadn't eaten anything for the longest time. She hurried down out of her classroom, passing people on the way down the hallway toward the Great Hall. She smiled and nodded to them, especially the Gryffindors. She had always had a fondness for that house.

Hurrying into the Great Hall, she went and took up her seat next to an empty one, near the Headmaster. She sat quietly and immediately began to eat as much as she could. She was starving for some reason and she realized that she hadn't eaten anything since lunch the previous day.

Professor Ezalia
@ScarlettWaters16@Travesty

The Headmistress was not particularly distressed. In fact, she was quite pleased. She had just booked for the 6th years to go and watch the Quidditch World Cup in April, for all their hard work on their O.W.L.s last year. She was just finishing her breakfast, and was about to stand up to announce the trip. Yes, she knew that it was probably going to cause a commotion from the other years. In fact, she may have to organise for the 7th years to go and watch the Gobstones World Cup in July. So, all in all, Gwendolyn was feeling pretty good - that was, until the Dark Mark appeared in the air. She stifled a scream - she was just a girl when Lord Voldemort was at the peak of his "reign". Dark magic was the last thing she wanted to see today, and her voice boomed over the great hall and towards the Gryffindor table, "Nicholas Gregory Hornhill! Are you responsible for this?" She waved her hand towards the Dark Mark floating a way above the ground, "Come with me immediately!" She leant in to Professor Carlyle, who was snorting down food, and lowered her voice to a mutter, "Keep an eye for me whilst I take the despicable student to my office, Terrabeth." Gwendolyn made a hand gesture for Nicholas to follow her, and promptly left the hall.

Walking along the corridors, Professor Ezalia hoped the silence was hurting Nicholas as much as it was hurting her. They reached the stone gargoyle and she whispered, so Nick could not hear her, "Unicorn blood." The stone gargoyle sprang to the side and they stepped onto the staircase inside. Gwendolyn could barely repress a smile at Nicholas's look of shock as the staircase began moving. She opened the door into her office and sat behind her desk. She purely expected Nicholas to sit opposite. "Right. You do know why you are here, don't you? The significance of that Dark Mark? Voldemort's Dark Mark?" Even though she tried to disguise it, you could still hear a hint of terror in her voice.

Professor McCarthy

Kyle McCarthy had had a busy morning before breakfast preparing a test for the Ravenclaws that morning. It was one that the older students would be helping the younger students on and he looked forward to the practical.

He got into the Great Hall just in time to watch Gwendolyn bore down on the sixth year boy, Hornhill. That gave him just enough time to get something quick to eat and make his way back up to his office on the third floor before the students would arrive.

High in the dark halls, deep in the oldest part of Hogwarts, far beyond where students dare to adventure and past where people bother to attempt to keep clean...lay a Coffin as black as night and marked with the seal of an ancient sect of Wizards known only for the light magic they fought with, there in the dampness of that dark and forgotten place, rested one of those wizards...A Paladin.

Gabriel slowly pushed open the lid to the place he chose to sleep, To be completely honest he hated the damn thing but it had a locking mechanism inside that allowed him the ability to take his locket off and rest without the constant drain on him. He lifted the lid completely and pulled himself out onto the floor and he smiled when he saw the chalice of water was still sitting there, he used his special magic to turn it into blood and started drinking like a starved animal, which if anyone saw him like this is exactly what they would think he was. No matter how long time passed a Vampire could never find true acceptance amongst mortals and he knew this well know.

He withdrew his lips from the chalice after it was dry and wiped them clean before tossing the chalice into his coffin and closing the lid. Once he was dressed in his suit that he wore in the music hall, he started walking along walls and ceilings until he grew closer to where there was life in the school. He walked through the halls a beautiful and proud man but his eyes gave away his nature, A true predator...At least that's how it felt.

He walked past some people but payed no mind to any of them as he walked towards his classroom, after all...He never attended any of the meals and only came to dinner on occasions like Christmas and big events, other than that he was unknown in the school. Magic came before music here and Gabriel simply had to remind himself of that constantly, not once had he ever seen a wizard or witch come into his class to truly learn about the art that is music. Maybe this year would be different? or maybe it would simply be another series of mornings where he taught children who where half awake and didn't care? Or where he simply played piano alone because no one bothered to show up.

With his business done with the lovely Transfiguration professor Devin made his way down the staircase and trough the great hallway to the grounds of the school. Today was a showcase class which meant a large number of non regular students were likely to attend his class. He thought about spicing the class up a little and instead of giving a short lecture about some of the interesting animals that lived in Egypt he decided to bring a little bit of Egypt to the class. He actually got the idea after sitting in on one of Terra's classes. After all it was the ancient Egyptians who had the most fun with Transfiguration.

When he reached the outside classroom along the north side of the grounds near the lake he saw several of the cages holding the creatures the class would be studying. There were three in total and while he was positive many would know at least one, he was excited to share some of the lesser known monsters to the expected class of students. As he heard the next ring of the bell he started to see a few early bird students making their way towards him.

Allison had mostly kept to herself over breakfast. For some reason, she still felt like she was getting phantom pains in her right wrist after she'd taken a Bludger to the radius in their last game, which had taken her out of the game just as she'd made a lunge for the Snitch. At the back of her mind, she knew that had cost them the match, and she still blamed herself a little, even if she knew there wasn't a whole lot she could have done about it.

And then, from down the table, someone went and threw out the symbol that she'd been raised to fear. The sudden appearance of the Dark Mark made her freeze. For some of the students, obviously the significance of the apparition wasn't that clear to them. But after what the people who followed it had done to her family, she had every reason to be scared.

Mary Winthrop

@Tip

"Of course I'll be there." Mary said almost over Mad. "We're going to Professor McCarthy's class right now. I'll see you later okay." Emma pulled on Mary's sleeve, waved at Mads and the pair of them walked to the open lecture hall the DADA class was being held in that day.

Professor McCarthy was already there, as well as a few students, he stood next to a blackboard at the front of the class. Mary smelled the faint scent of something having been burnt, but didn't see anything that could have been on fire.

"Good morning girls. How is your silent casting coming along?" He asked them as they took a set of seats.

"I still can't get mine to work hardly at all." Emma slumped into her chair.

"I'm okay. Jaden said he'd give us a hand with it though." Professor McCarthy nodded in approval.

Vanessa Von Strong- Malfoy

Vanessa flew on her broom above the forbidden forest with her mother, Draco Malfoy's daughter, and looked at her. ''Are you sure this is a good idea mom? I did get bullied on the other school because of the story's.. But this IS the school where everything happened..'' she said. ''I know honey, but I made a deal with the teachers, they will only use the von Strong part of your last name'' she said. ''I so don't believe that.. That hat will not do that'' the blond girl said. ''You don't get the hat, you will start in the same house as we all did'' she said. ''Really! That isn't just calling for Death Eater.. Can't you just tattoo it on my forehead!'' she said. ''Young lady, shut your mouth and show a little respect for your mother'' her mother said.

''I rather arrive alone Mom.. Thanks for flying me here'' she said. ''Okay honey, and you know.. You have the looks of a von Strong and the pride of a Malfoy'' she said. ''Yes Yes'' Vanessa said and smiled. Princess, her Birman cat, was meowing loudly. ''I'll go now before Princess is gonna be totally stressed over'' she said and her mother gave her a flying kiss, Vanessa catched it and send one back, then she slowly flew down to the big castle that would become her new 'home'.
