Personality:
Rayne wants to be a music producer. Or, maybe, she wants to be a model. Well, sometimes, she thinks she wants to front a band. No, she totally wants to be an actress. Anyway, she's relatively indecisive, especially when it comes to what she wants to do with her life, and, truth is, she doesn't really know what she wants. She can never find that one thing that she thinks she's perfect at, though she seems to be one of those people who's pretty much good at everything. Well, everything except for dealing with people. She's always had a rebellious streak. Well, by always, I moreso mean since she turned thirteen and gained the capability to think for herself. She is insanely intelligent, and allows that to be a reason to keep her nose in the air. She skips classes because, to pass, she doesn't have to sit through them. She'd rather just read the textbook and teach the material to her damn self. She thinks of herself as above the majority of the other wealthy students because she doesn't so much think that wealth or social class matter as much as someone's ability to hold their own in a fight (words or...otherwise). She has quite the temper, and has been known to go off on other students, teachers, and even the administration of Caelbury Academy. Rayne, to be frank, does not care what people think and believes wholeheartedly in freedom of speech - whenever and wherever, and she has absolutely no filter when she speaks because of this.
However, despite her absolutely horrendous propensity for being abrasive and confrontational to almost everyone she meets, she stands by her friends and the people she cares about, and she is absolutely, incredibly goofy when she's around people who make her feel comfortable.

History:
Rayne was born in LA. She has never really had much of a relationship with her father, Issac. He's always been busy with work. He and her mother, Evangelina were high school sweethearts. Got married when they were in college, and when her mother got pregnant, she took the role of stay-at-home mom. Rayne and her mother were best friends. There was not a soul on Earth that she loved more. Eva taught her how to play violin and piano. Told her about all the good books to read. Shaped her into a good, well-mannered young girl. So, when Eva died after a long fight with lung cancer, Rayne didn't quite know what to do with herself. She felt lost and alone, which makes sense if you consider the fact that her father wasn't ever really around. He was always out cavorting with rock stars. So, two years later, when she was fourteen, Isaac married the Miranda...Well. Let's just say things got worse. Rayne and Isaac no longer had a lack of a relationship - it was a tumultuous one. She felt abandoned by her father, who somehow had time to fall in love with someone who was decidedly not her mother, but no time to spend with his daughter. So Rayne has been in some sort of trouble with him constantly since he married her stepmother. She has dyed her hair tens of different colors, pierced her septum, navel and tongue, and got her first tattoo when she was fifteen, behind his back, on a summer trip with some friends. She sneaked out of the house to see boys and go to concerts. She drank and partied at an absurdly young age. She was definitely lost in her own anger and heartache. She has been out of control, but most would say that's from lack of stability, or a decent person to look up to in her life. Rayne was convinced from the start that Miranda married her father for his money, and has been further convinced of this by her lack of seeming to care about anything but the twins, whom she had before the marriage, and the latest fashion trends. So, she's a bit jaded.

We've been friends for forever, and I can just tell...She doesn't really understand how amazing of a person she is. But, hell, even if she doesn't realize it, she's my best friend - the only real friend I've ever really had, anyway. She's kind of my filter when I need one. Haha. She's so much more...sociable...than I am. If she ever needs anything, I've got her back."

"Lili? Oh, you mean that chick who's always hanging around the Gifted kids? Yeah, I know who she is. We cut a few times together freshman year. She's crazy good with artistic stuff. Don't really talk to her much, though."

I just hope he doesn't turn around and do what everyone else who's into music does and try to get me to introduce him to Dad. No thank you.

Other than the obvious, which I just stated, all I really know about him is he's kind of a player. From the girls he's had 'contact' with, I've heard he's way to damn obsessed with sex, which is kinda fucked up. But, who knows? I don't really know him too well, and maybe he just needs to find a girl who won't put up with the sex nonsense."

Wren Sinclair:
"I've known Wren since we were kids. Our parents are friends. Like. Real good friends. She used to call Mom and Dad 'Aunt' and 'Uncle'. That's how close our families were. She's a really good person. With all the success she's had, she is certainly still the sweet kid I grew up with. I miss talking to her. I just...we lost touch, is all. I lost touch with all my old friends a while ago, and it's not like Wren and I really have all that much in common anymore, and...I don't want to talk about this anymore. Next."

"He's the principal. He's kinda young to be one, but whatever. He's pretty relaxed, which is awesome. Most principals would have my ass for not showing up to class or my attitude, but he's generally cool with me most of the time.

"My best friend's big brother. He's insanely protective. He taught my Physics class when I was a freshman. It was pretty awesome, since he never took off points for me never showing up. He seemed alright with me not going, as long as I passed and put in the work, which I always do. I just hate classrooms. I can't learn shoved behind a desk. I'd rather teach myself in the ways I know I'll get all the material. I think he understood that. Unlike everyone else, who just thinks I don't care. Social Class Explanation: Drums, piano, banjo, harmonica, you name it. Pick an instrument and James would most likely be able to play it. But his true love and talent lies in the guitar, both acoustic and electric. By age eleven, he was able to play some of the most complicated guitar pieces. His musical style is deeply rooted in skiffle and rock 'n roll; though he's quite fond of punk rock as well. He is heavily influenced by The Beatles, The Ramones and Blink-182. As of late, he has also started dabbling in some songwriting.

Personality: James is as slick as they come, and he knows how to work his pretty face to his advantage. He is charming and surprisingly well read, knowing a little bit about nearly every subject someone could think to broach. If he weren’t so damn charming it might be considered annoying, but his smile and the twinkle in his eye lets him get away with a lot that others would be called out on. He does what he wants, when he wants, and doesn’t often consider the consequences. He isn’t purposefully malicious, though he does have an explosive temper when crossed and can be cagey and deceptive when someone digs into his past.

His moral compass isn’t pointing exactly straight though, he’s not one to turn down a few drinks and a good party or say no to a date with a pretty girl. You see, James firmly believes that you only have one life and you’ve got to live it, otherwise what’s the point? There’s no such thing as mistakes in his mind, only learning curves and stories you can one day share with your grandkids. He spends a lot of time thinking, speculating and asking questions about the world around him, contrary to the belief that he’s just some dumb jock. And if given the chance, James could rattle on for hours and hours about the mysteries of the world we live in. He’s pretty deep.

History: James McNamara grew up in working class Liverpool, born to a vivacious young mother and a merchant seaman. However, at a very young age, James was placed in the care of his stern Aunt Grace - his father was virtually non-existent and his mother was too much of a free spirit to be a “proper mother” at that age. His aunt and uncle raised James, who was always a bit of a rowdy child. In his adolescent years, he became quite rebellious - though, he had a knack for art that seemed to go hand in hand for his very sly sense of humour. He also developed a passionate love for music, something that helped keep him together when his life felt like it was falling apart. When he was ten, his mother Lily returned to his life. While it was much too late to develop a conventional mother/son bond, they developed a closeness and something of a friendship that was just what he needed. Through her support, James was able to pursue his passion for music. She had even been the one to buy him his first guitar.

When James was fifteen, however, he lost his mother in a tragic accident, and that made him go through some dark times. He felt the world crumbling around him, and though he gave the facade of being tough and capable, inside he was simply a lost boy looking for a place to belong. In a last ditch effort, he applied for a student visa and a full ride scholarship to Caelbury Academy. After a whirlwind of auditions and aptitude tests, he was finally accepted into the school.

Miscellaneous: James is as blind as a bat without his glasses but he's rarely seen with them, believing that they completely undermine the reputation he's been building up for himself. Why not wear contacts, you ask? See, he tried wearing them once, only to have some sort of allergic reaction that effectively blinded him for two days. So yeah, he's not fond of the things.

Acacia Hawthorne: "Smart. Really smart. She has an IQ of like, 200 or something, doesn't she? Pretty cute, too. Not gonna lie. Though she's more like a little sister to me than anything. Which is kinda weird because she's the same age as me and a grade higher. But yeah, she's a really nice girl."

Lili Lafontaine: "Oh, Lili? We've hung out a few times. Pretty cool. And she's not bad at art, either. I've seen some of her artwork and stuff. She's pretty loaded but she doesn't seem to like hanging out with the other rich kids though. Which is something that's completely understandable. A good handful are a bunch of prissy little snobs, but she's definitely not one of them."

Jacob Rockwell: "Bit of a tosser, really. I don't mean to sound like a complete dick but it's true. I mean, all the guy does is go on and on about how I'm systematically bending-slash-breaking every one of the school rules in chronological order, which granted, I have actually been doing but that's besides the point. The point is; he needs to chill out just a tad, might make him a little more tolerable to be around."

Roman Zelenka: "Cool as a cucumber. Wait, does anyone even use that expression anymore? Cucumbers aren't even cool. Nevermind, back on topic. So, Roman... He knows like, four languages and that's insane, in my books. Plus, he got in on the lottery? That doesn't even make any sense. You never really know what's on his mind. Oh! And he plays guitar, too. I think. I've never really seen him play."

Vladimir Kalkovich: "Vlad, Vlad, Vlad. We've played together a couple times. Our guitars, I mean. What were you thinking? Get your mind out of the gutter. Anyway, he's good. Not as good as me, of course. But still good. His crazy math skills more than makes up for it, I think. He's pretty chill, funny too, but y'know how they say music is the window to the soul? His music sounds a little... angry sometimes, maybe? I don't know if it's just me, but - definitely something to look into."

Rayne McCutcheon: "Christ. She's a firecracker, that one. Brutally honest, too. If it's on her mind, it's out of her mouth. But I can respect that. We get along pretty well... most of the time, at least. She can get real pissed real quick and it's not pretty. She's kinda like me, I guess."

And, uh, she's not bad looking, either. But, yeah! We used to hang out but not so much now, and she's really nice. A little awkward, but not too awkward. Though she can get a little uptight about things."

Cole Grimoire: "Mm, don't really know him. He's the sort of guy that keeps to himself. I've only ever seen him hanging around other... "commoners", like him. God, I felt like an arse just saying that word. Anyway, next!"

August Marco: "Now, there's a guy with a sense of humour. That one time where he set the sprinklers off? Priceless. I've seen him in detention a couple of times, but that's pretty much it."

Max Wallenberg: "He might seem a little intimidating at first - he's a tall guy. But he's actually really fun to hang out and chat with, probably one of the only ones in here who doesn't think talking about metaphysics and shit is boring. Just takes awhile for him to open up, that's all. Also, uh, I've got to say. He really gets around, and coming from me, that's saying something."

Wren Sinclair: "Only 15 and already has a couple of big budget movies under her belt. Talk about giving a guy an inferiority complex, huh? Jokes aside, yeah, we do hang out quite a bit. But she does get a little flustered sometimes. Not sure why. I mean -- I should be the one getting starstruck, you know? Her being in showbiz, you'd think she'd be used to getting compliments and stuff like that everyday."

Brenden Aldrin: "A bit young to be a principal, don't you think? Honestly, for this kind of school you'd expect the principal to be a ninety year-old man who still wears a cravat. Not that I'm complaining, of course."

Hayden Hawthorne: "Hawthorne... Isn't Acacia's last name Hawthorne, too? So I guess he's her brother or something? I don't know, I've never really heard her bring him up much. All I know is that he's the vice-principal and that runs a bunch of the clubs in school. With the power the Hawthorne family has, I'm surprised he's not off running some mega corporation. But to each their own, I guess."

Flynn Zimmerman: "I've been in some of his classes. He's an good teacher. Though I'm not the expert here, you tell me. I mean, he does his best help his students so I guess that counts for something. Most of the time I see him outside of class, he's pretty quiet, a bit of a wallflower, actually."

Alli Kendrick: "Miss Kendrick? She's the History teacher, and the cheerleading coach. Which is kind of a weird combination. But hey, she's not one of those teachers who would bore even a mollusk to death, which is fine by me. And honestly, it helps that she's pretty easy on the eyes, too. Okay, I know it sounds superficial. Like really superficial but Jesus Christ, you should see some of the guys in her class climbing over each other to sit in the front row. Not even joking."

Believe it or not, Seth is actually a scion of the now defunct Egyptian royal family. His great-grandfather was a Khedive, his great-aunt was married to one, and he has a second cousin or something who'd descended from the main branch. But when the monarchy was dissolved, they only took their wealth with them. Seth's father has the money passed down over the years, and a fine house in the countryside, but they don't have much else.

Personality:
Seth is very cautious with his words. He thinks a lot before answering any questions, afraid he's going say too much or just the wrong things. His words will either leave people wondering, for most of the time they aren’t all that easy to to understand. The key to having an easy relationship with Seth is to read between the lines: always read between the lines. He has a very peculiar sense of humour and tends to make jokes in the weirdest situations, which combined with his reckless way of living, makes him a very unusual type of guy. He cares about others more than he could ever care about himself, and often his true sweet and loving personality shows through the funny comments he makes. At heart, Seth is really all about peace; he just wants the world, and more specifically, all of his friends and peers, to get along. However, he knows that he can’t delude himself into thinking it’s going to happen. In his quietness, he sees the arguments people get themselves into, the tensions between siblings, between friends, between generations. On some occasions, he’s tried to step in, but the last time he did so, the two students ended up at each other’s throats, one with a black eye and the other with a bloodied nose. Seth thinks maybe he’s better off just watching and trying to keep himself out of the brunt of the conflict than trying to play peacekeeper. Outside of school, Seth is like your usual drinking buddy, someone who is always at the bar on his off days (so much that people might even think he works there) and buying people rounds and rounds of the most variable drinks.

History:
Seth was born in Cairo, Egypt but he and his family soon emigrated to America a few years after his birth. He grew up in a big fancy house in the countryside with many fancy cars and a mother that never needed to work because of how much money his father had. Seth was told he had to be a ‘manly man’, by doing things like pushing kids around that were scrawnier than him, joining the football team, and treating girls like objects rather than people. And for most of his youth, that’s what he did, because he loved his father and wanted nothing more than to make him proud. If the things he was doing made him feel sick and empty, well, that was the price he was willing to pay for praise from his old man that was way too caught up in his delusions of the American Dream. It wasn’t until he got to university, when his father could no longer check up on what he was doing, that he stopped acting the way he had so diligently acted for his whole life. He secretly switched his major from Law to English Literature with the blessing of his mother, and his father had no idea about it until Seth finished all of his schooling and didn’t come to work at his law firm -- a law firm which soon started slipping behind the competition.

He wasn’t exactly disowned from the family after that, but he was no longer invited around for dinner and phone calls with his mother were made only when his father would be at work. But Seth understood; he knew that his father wanted a good life for him, but that he was also attempting to relive his own youth through his son. And while Seth still loved his father very dearly, he just wasn’t the same person as him, and he never could be. Seth was a naturally passive and loving person, like his mother, though those instincts were stomped down so harshly that even ten years after dropping the act, Seth struggles to go back to the person he wants to be.

He graduated college with a major in English Literature and a minor in Psychology, and then went on to grad and post-grad school for his doctorate, earning that at age 27, and then a year in a post doctoral position. Beyond that, he honestly hadn’t planned very well, but he does say that teaching had never actually crossed his mind. He’s still hard pressed to explain how he ended up teaching. He often comes across as conflicted, or only halfheartedly interested in his subject, even though he manages to be enthusiastic while teaching. He loves Literature, don’t get him wrong, but he also secretly wonders if he should've pursued a career in the field of psychology. He’d only been teaching for a year, so needless to say, he was thoroughly surprised when Caelbury offered to hire him as a teacher.

Julie has always been a hard worker, especially when it came to academics. She always aspires to be in the top percentage of her class and she usually always succeeds at this. She doesn’t come from any money worth mentioning so she got in to Caelbury Academy based on her test scores which were always 100% but also because she has a real talent with languages at this moment she speaks 12. These include: English, Swedish, Norwiegian, Danish, French, German, Spanish, Czech, Serbian, Hebrew, Bahasa Malaysia and Cantonese. She might not be fluent in all of them but she can make herself understood and can understand most of them.

Personality:
Being successful is hard work Julie would know, she has sacrificed most of her social life to get the grades required to get in to Caelbury Academy. This has resulted in that she is kind of socially awkward, not so much that she can’t handle herself in a social situation but sometimes she can spout something that maybe seen as a bit inappropriate at the academy. Julie is very relaxed person and is very easy to get along with as long as you don’t get on her nerves, because she will tell you to your face since she is very outspoken. Julie always tries to help out when someone is in need, she feels that her friends come first then herself, except when it comes to her studies of course.

For some reason Julie seems to get along better with the boys at the academy and she only has one or two girlfriends but those are also really close friends. Being in the gifted social class Julie feels no pressure to band together with just the gifted, but her not having a lot of money makes it hard to hang out with her friends that have money in their bank accounts. To help with this Julie works at a coffee shop off campus, she keeps this a secret from most people accept for a select few of her friends. She feels that if people knew they would look down on her and Julie probably couldn’t handle that, she wants to fit in and not stray from the norm more than she already does.

When it comes to her love life she is totally oblivious, her friends tell her that boys do try to get her attention but since she basically didn’t have a social life before getting to Caelbury Academy she never get the hints that guys throw at her.

History:
The daughter of Meghan and Ralph Scott, Julie had a perfect suburban upbringing. Her father worked as an IT-Consultant for a big company and made enough money to keep them afloat and her mother came from money so she didn’t have to work. Julie’s grandparents always felt like her mother married down when she and Ralph got together and was very disapproving of her father. But her mother stood by her choice and along came Julie, and the family hold on to the façade they had built up of being a happy family.

Until her mother got bored of her homemaker life and one day left for her new life in Thailand when Julie was 10. Julie could never forgive her mother and almost never speaks of her. Her grandparents also cut her and her father out after her mother left, they did offer to pay for her to get in to the academy but Julie refused and said she wanted to get in on her own merit. Her mother leaving for another life in another part of the world mad Julie immerse herself in languages and other cultures and that's when she found her talent with learning different languages.

Her father is her guiding light in Julie's life, he is her hero. He raised her practically all by himself and worked a fulltime job. Julie appreciates everything he has done for her and this is why she could never ask him for money to go to Caelbury Academy and instead she works so she can keep up the appearance.

Julie's taking four different language courses to extend her knowledge and she is also an active member of the International Committee who deals with the international exchange students*. Now that she is in her junior year she has gotten the privilege to be the vice president of the committee. Combining this with her job and studies makes this year a lot more stressful.

Anyway she has always been sweet to me whenever we talk and it has been more frequent now that I have more responsibilities with the International Committee. But I do sense that there is something she is not showing, there is just something in her eyes for a fleeting moment when she thinks you’re not looking. I don’t know what it could be but she seems perfect to me.”

“I met Lili when she came to the academy and I was in charge of giving out mentors. I like her she’s nice and not nearly as stuck up as most of the wealthy students at this place, she does have a knack of hanging around when I’m trying to study. I do like her energy though, it brightens your day!”

“Oh Jacob is cute! He is just as old as I am but there is just something about him that makes me feel like he is a little brother of some sort. “He is fascinating! Roman has been in so many of the places that I want to go also he is the perfect person to practice my Czech with. It doesn’t really hurt that he looks the way he looks… heh, I like to take my lunch breaks with him when we do have them at the same time. When we talk I like to pick his brain about the places he has lived. Especially Tokyo since Japanese is one of the language courses I am taking this term.”

“Vlad! I love him! We’re kind of the same person since we both have a very sarcastic sense of humor we get each other’s jokes really well! Another thing that’s good with their friendship is that he’s the best Russian teacher!”

“I wish I could dye my hair pink, I mean I guess I could but I would probably spend a week sobbing over a picture of myself a day after I did it! But I like Rayne… I do think she skips class way to much some of us has worked real hard to get here and to stay here. But it just seems that Rayne doesn’t really care about being here, which irks me in some ways. I respect that she has beliefs and can stand for them but sometimes she can be a bit harsh.”

Max is the firstborn son of the Alice and Peter Wallenberg who are part of the very powerful banking family in Sweden. The Wallenberg family is estimated to own a 3rd of Sweden’s national GDP. Not only is Max extremely wealthy but he is also very well read and quite smart. He may not be at the top of his class but he can hold his own.

Personality:
How would you describe the typical Swede? Tall, blonde, quiet kind of standoffish, that all applies to Max. At first glance he seems intimidating since he is pretty tall and has quite the steely eyed stare and mostly he sits alone at the lunch table. But contrary to popular belief Max doesn’t hate people, he just likes his solitude sometimes he actually loves to be social you just have to break through his shell first.

Max has an air of aloofness when he walks through the halls of the academy it’s not that he doesn’t care about being in school he actually cares a lot about getting good grades. It’s just that he’s extremely bored with this gilded lifestyle that the wealthy at Caelbury Academy lead. The talk about which car you should get the next time you buy one every day is taking its toll on Max’s psyche.

He is very passionate about literature and devours every book he can get his hands over, he likes it so much because it gives him a chance to escape the to him very mundane life of the wealthy. Though many of his peers would spend their money on cars or going out, Max would much rather spend it on a first edition copy of “The color purple”. He has tried his hand on writing his own stuff but it never turns out the way he wants it. He has come to the realization that maybe it is because he hasn’t really lived. The biggest thing that happened to him was when his family moved from Sweden to the US, and that went pretty smooth because of the Wallenberg’s status, besides his future is in banking according to his father.

When it comes to relationships Max has had many, nothing really serious but he is popular and likes to try his luck. His friends usually tease him a lot for going “slumming” as they call it because Max has been dating girls from “lower” social classes, which apparently is looked down upon. Max is doing it for fun because he is bored and wants something different. Max also has the bad habit of using sex as an ice breaker which has resulted in a lot of broken hearts.

History:
Born in to excess and luxury thus is the life of a Wallenberg, never having to worry about financial security or being on the outside looking in. Max’s father Peter wasn’t really present during his and his sibling’s childhood, for a good reason though he was working as much as he could to uphold the family status. This has resulted in a rather stiff relationship with his father; it is mostly about business or school when or if they talk. Max does respect his father a great deal and would not want to disappoint him.

Max’s relationship with his mother is something completely different; since his mother didn’t have to work she stayed at home and raised him and his two sisters. The two are very close and though she has always said that what his father says goes, she always would wink behind Peters back when Max would have broken some small rule, like when he was looking at his phone instead of listening to the kings speech at the Nobel prize dinner.

The family owns a lot of the bigger banks in Sweden and when Max was 7 his father wanted to expand over the Atlantic and decided to uproot the family and move to America.
