Caelbury Academy. Known for it's selectivity and it's exceptional students, Caelbury Academy is ranked the number one preparatory high school in the United States. It's extremely difficult to enroll here due to the competition and the extremely high requirements, but the rewards are stunning if you're accepted. It's said that every single person to graduate from Caelbury Academy becomes extremely successful in life, in whatever field they choose. This revered high school offers many classes and extracurricular activities for the student body to enjoy, as well as very exciting school events.

The students who go to Caelbury Academy are very special in many regards. In order to enroll at this school, you must be one of two things: Extremely wealthy, or extremely gifted. There are many students who are both. The extremely wealthy students are often children of the CEOs of famous companies, famous politician or an athlete. The students who fit under the extremely gifted category might be a world-renown athlete, some sort of prodigy, or a genius. Only the people at the top of the social hierarchy are able to attend the prestigious Caelbury Academy.

Up until now, Caelbury Academy had the philosophy of "Making great students greater, not mediocre students less mediocre." However, as more and more of the underdogs begin to become high-ranking, respected people, the school decided to let in some 'normal' students, people who weren't wealthy or particularly exceptional, offering scholarships to these normal students.

Many families in the school were outraged at this innovation, some even going as far as pulling their children out of this school as a form of protest. Some believe that they should be kept separate from the "commoners", while others think that this is a wonderful opportunity to educate bright young minds who may be considered not as extraordinary. This is the first year that the two different social classes will merge into one school.

• This is a mid to high casual roleplay. At the bare minimum, please post two paragraphs. Much more is preferred! That being said, quality over quantity, don’t add random things just to add length.


• Don’t create a Mary Sue or a Marty Stu. Nobody is perfect, people must have flaws.


• Use common sense and courtesy! We’re all friends here. Be polite, and no fights in the OOC.


• Listen to what the GM says! I am your benevolent goddess… In this roleplay, at least.


• Make sure that there are at least three posts between your previous post before you post! (For those with multiple characters, you can post for one character after three posts between that same character's action. You can divide the posts up, and don't necessarily have to post with all of your characters at the same time. Did that make sense?)


• As of right now, there is a character limit of four characters. This may be subject to change.


• Let me know if you can’t post for a while, or if you’re dropping, or anything of that nature. I won’t bite your head off, I promise.


• If you are inactive for a week without notice, your character will be struck through on the character roster. If you continue to be inactive after being struck through, your character(s) will be removed from the character roster after 7 more days. While you're welcome to come back, you must reapply. If your character is struck through, but you explain why you were unable to post, your character will not be removed from the roster, on the condition that you will post in the IC in the near future. Of course, this is a case-by-case and I understand that people have obligations outside of roleplaying. I'm very flexible about this, but I'm not going to let this roleplay die because someone randomly disappears.

The Social Hierarchy

The Elite

The Elite group is considered to be at the top of the school. The people in this group are both gifted and wealthy. In a normal high school setting, they may be categorized as 'the popular' people, although they aren't exactly the same. Having the best of both worlds, the Elite are the ones who dominate school politics and are the most well-known.

The Wealthy

The Wealthy are just that, people who come from wealthy families. Just because they're wealthy however, doesn't mean that they're necessarily good students (although this depends on the person). Most people who go to Caelbury Academy are in this category. The stereotype of this social class is this: The people in the Wealthy group are people that hide behind their parent's money, and are spoiled and conceited. Obviously this is just a stereotype, and this isn't true for everyone. however, the Wealthy group are the people that band together the most within their social group.

The Gifted

The Gifted are considered more or less equals to the Wealthy. The Gifted people aren't always wealthy, and many come from middle-class families, but their exceptional talent has allowed them to get a scholarship to this school. On the other hand, the Gifted people tend to have at least some sort of money due to the attention that their extraordinary skill set has gotten them. As a whole, they have an ongoing rivalry going with the Wealthy crowd. The Gifted people are the group that stick together the least, considering that the people in this group may all be gifted, but they are all gifted in different ways. There may be an interest clash here and there. NOT ACCEPTING ANYMORE GIFTED STUDENTS.

The Commoners

This is the newest social class in Caelbury Academy. The Commoners are considered the lowest social class. A Commoner is the person allowed into the Academy from the new policy of allowing more people into the school. People here are picked from a lottery drawing, filled with names of all of the applicants who were denied access to the school due to not being gifted or wealthy. This is the smallest social class, and they band together, almost as much as the Wealthy class, because they find comfort and support within each other.

Due to being a wealthy private school, Caelbury Academy has a lot of money to spend on it's campus! Everything is luxuriously furnished, and is guaranteed to grant the utmost comfort. The school always has room to expand, and is always looking to make itself better, so if you have any suggestions, please be sure to let a faculty member, or the Student Council know!

The Main Building

The main building is where as a student or a teacher, you will spend a majority of your time. This is where all the classes take place, and during school hours, you will become well-acquainted with this building. Although it's large size and many rooms are intimidating at first, by the end of one semester, you'll be able to navigate the school blindfolded! (Okay, maybe not, but you know what I mean!) The Main Building is open until midnight, allowing everyone to access it after school.

Rec Center

The Rec Center is often a popular place for students, especially athletes. This is where most of the athletic activities take place, but it's not limited to that! The Rec Center can become a social hub for everyone, it's a very enjoyable place.

The Dorms

This is where students live during the school year, so be sure to keep it clean! Caelbury Academy's dorms are considered the equivalent to a high end hotel, (without the service, don't rely on other people too much!) and the best part: You can make it your own! So go ahead, decorate it, just make sure that your roommate is okay with it, and don't destroy anything.

The dorms are co-ed, but the right wing is considered the girl's side, and the left wing is considered the boy's side. That being said, it is against the rules to have a member of the opposite gender in your room past midnight.

The dorms include a large living room, two bedrooms (each with their own bathrooms), and a kitchen, if you want to make food.

Programs
Many advanced courses are available for a student to take advantage of. Our teachers strive to challenge every student at their appropriate level. Some academic programs offered include Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Middle Years Programme, and College in Schools. Other programs are also offered to aid students in their future endeavors.

Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC)

The MJCROTC program serves as a guide to students who wish to become better people, leaders, and members of society in general. No obligation to the military exists within the program, though there is a promotion offered to those who complete several years then enlist. The course teaches various subjects, including ethics, etiquette, military history, some basic practical skills, and leadership advice. Students wear a Marine Corps service uniform once a week (on Wednesdays), overriding the school's uniform. All members of the program are expected to follow all school and program rules at ALL times, and failure to do so will be met with consequences in accordance with the transgression. When in uniform, cadets are prohibited from making public displays of affection, and must adhere to Marine Corps grooming standards.

Promotions are granted to students who do what is expected of them twice a year, until the Cadet Sergeant rank, whereupon more action is required than simply showing up to class and not breaking rules. Cadet Officer ranks are granted to those cadets who stand out among their peers. Cadets are obligated to obey orders of their superiors. The Cadet Commanding Officer is responsible for the behavior and punishment of cadets who have committed minor transgressions. More severe issues will be handled by the MI or SMI.

Extracurricular Activities
Caelbury Academy offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities, and encourages students to participate in them, as well as create their own. There's no limit to how many extracurricular activities you can take part in, but be sure to manage your time wisely!

Student Council

The Student Council consists of elected student leaders, all of them being approved by students and teachers alike. The Student Council is considered the voice of the students, the messengers of the teachers. They're responsible for most of the school events, and strive to make Caelbury Academy a better place for everyone. If a student has a concern they would like to address, they usually approach a member of the Student Council about it, and they bring it to the teacher's attention. If the teachers have an announcement or something, Student Council is there to offer their opinion, and to pass it on to the student body.

Airsoft Club

The airsoft club is a club created by Jacob Rockwell in his second year at Caelbury. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 PM, and only one weekly attendance is required, though it is recommended to attend both weekly meetings if possible. Club activities include strategy discussion, discussion weapons as well as attachments and customizations, and general discussion of the game. Once every other Saturday, Jacob leads unofficial trips to the local indoor airsoft arena for games. Occasionally, they participate in larger, official outings to a further yet larger 40-acre (about 1/4 mile square) outdoor arena for large-scale games. Players are encouraged to accurately report their 'kills' and 'deaths' after each outing, though this is primarily for tracking personal progress.

International Committee

Also known as IntCom, The International Committee is a group of volunteer students who aims to aid the international students during their stay at Caelbury Academy. The main focus of the committee is to help the international students to feel more at home at the academy. IntCom arranges the mentorship program which means that the members of IntCom takes care of one international student each, and shows him/her around and be available to answer any question they might have. IntCom also try to arrange different activities together with the other student clubs so that the International students get to know the local students and fit in easier. This could range from international dinners to Halloween parties.

Room For Tolerance: Anti-Bullying and Anti-Discrimination club

It started out as a safe haven for various LGBT students, and it's still considered that, but it now caters and helps give an outlet to all students who feel threatened or discriminated in general. The club's intent, so far, is to provide these students with a place to discuss whatever they need to, regardless of what it is or what it pertains to. A lot of the students who participate find it a great place to vent their frustrations, whether they be bullied, (of which their consultant gladly takes care of), their parents, or even teachers (most of which are just general frustrations, such as bad grades or tedious workloads). It's also a place for said students to find connections and make friends who are in the same situation, more or less, that they are in. Students are encouraged to make their own events, host their own get togethers on campus, and make sure to spread the word of tolerance and anti-bullying around the school grounds. There are a vast amount of things to do and outlets to gather help and sympathy within the club itself.

-Club meetings are held every Monday and Friday after school. Any events that take place will be posted on the event calender just outside of Mr. Hawthorne's office and on the bulletin board inside the club meeting room, which, as of now, is Mr. Zimmerman's classroom, since he was kind enough to offer. (And because I want his cat, Oedipus, to be the club's mascot. @_@)
-Speaking of club mascot, Oedipus is trusted in the hands of Mr. Hawthorne until the meetings are finished and should the cat be harmed in any way, Mr. Zimmerman will make sure he pays for his irresponsibility.

Aeronautics and Space Club

Where all your space needs come to fruition!

The class itself takes place on Tuesday and Saturday nights, or any night that has a clear and open sky. Having worked for NASA, Hawthorne has a good grasp on various things pertaining to space and will often give the group a topic to discuss that night, if nothing is planned or if the skies aren't clear enough for stargazing. He usually plans star gazing events—telescopes are included, as is food and drinks—once every two weeks, as an outing and treat or the students. For the more math and science oriented kids, he often gives them academic work and work he himself has had to complete through his years as a scientist and engineer. Once every year, he schedules a field trip to the nearest planetarium (depending on where Caelbury is, though I want him to go to the Hayden Planetarium 'cause funny) where the students are left to their own devices to further their grasp on space and the universe.

Every year, he gives the students who sign up for the club a novel to read, that novel being one of his favorites: the whole entire compendium of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Just for kicks. However, he does let his students plan out events for themselves, since he isn't technically the club's president or an officer, for that matter. He simply gives them guidelines and ideas and provides a well of knowledge for them to be thoroughly fascinated. They do all kinds of stuff from rudimentary building of a tiny solar system (more art oriented), to solving vast equations pertaining to interesting phenomena occurring in science news lately, though the latter is purely up to the student to participate in. He understand that some of the people who join the club aren't pure and utter geniuses and leaves that up to the officers to plan accordingly.

Robotics Club

Just as the name describes. This particular club is designed purely for those who have a knack for building robots, and even those who simply just show an interest in the science around it, and especially those who want to just make something badass to do some cool shit. It's situated on Wednesday's and Thursday's after school. The club is provided with all the parts and devices that they could possibly need through the school's own funding, and partly out of the Mr. Hawthorne's bank account. A group project is always posted at the beginning of the year, a very complex and tough challenge for the club to work together on (though sometimes he likes to make it a competition), but it isn't something they work on over the course of the whole year.

Students are encouraged to enter robots they design into competitions, where the club is usually scheduled to go to, but are not limited to just competitions scheduled throughout the school year. Of course, students are also encouraged to build whatever their hearts desire purely out of leisure and fun. No one is going to judge you for the work you accomplish unless you personally ask for serious critique. Mr. Hawthorne is there to help and guide students through complications they find whilst building and engineering and encourages students to come to him whenever they can for further help. It's a fun club designed to give engineering minds and people who are simply interested in building or robots in general an outlet to let their creativity and ingenuity shine.

Drama Board

There isn't necessarily a Drama Club at Caelbury, instead, there's the Drama Board. The Drama Board consists of students who essentially run a production, such as a director. These students are in charge of a production that takes place during the school year. The first batch of the Drama Board members are determined by Ms. Kendrick and the Student Council. Then the second group of members are chosen by the previous drama board members with Ms. Kendrick as their adviser. This way, the Drama Board isn't monopolized by the same members. If there are no new members to fill a slot, or to apply, the existing drama board shuffles positions.

The reason why there is a Drama Board, but not a Drama Club is because plays and such would be done within the Drama Club members, while if there is a Drama Board, everyone is welcome to audition. Another notable thing about the productions at Caelbury is this: If you have received a lead role in a school production once, you are not going to have the lead role again in another production for the current school year.

Acacia Hawthorne

Appearance

Acacia is often considered a beauty, receiving the genes of the attractive Hawthorne family. Standing at a mere 5’2”, she is usually unable to see over people’s heads, or finds it necessary to climb upon something to grab an object that’s beyond her reach. Her dark hair is often simply let loose, flowing down as it pleases. At times she will tie her hair up into a ponytail to keep it out of her way, or even style it if she feels like experimenting. Acacia’s striking blue eyes reflect warmth and enthusiasm. It’s said that the eyes are the windows to one’s soul, but Acacia has mastered the art of the poker face, and only the people truly close to her may be able to tell when she’s feeling a negative emotion. Perhaps not even then.

As the Student Council President, Acacia is expected to follow school rules and such, and she does so without hesitation. She’s usually seen wearing her uniform, not tweaking anything about it like some rebellious students do.

Acacia Hawthorne is a genius, with her IQ hovering somewhere around 190-200. She is very well-rounded, and is rather successful at any of her endeavors. She is a part of the famous Hawthorne family. The Hawthorne family owns Hawthorne Corporations--which is a very successful business--and is also the founder of Caelbury Academy, back in 1875.

Personality

Perfection.

This is the one word that Acacia’s life revolved around, ever since she was a child. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Acacia Hawthorne is perfect--after all, isn’t perfection impossible?--but she comes pretty darn close. She’s a perfectionist. Her entire life is dedicated to being as close to perfect as she can. Anything less than perfection isn’t acceptable, that’s the lesson she had learned.

Acacia’s very presence is rather striking, with a bright, shining aura. Carrying herself with an air of confidence, she is usually seen with a gentle smile upon her lips. She seldom goes unnoticed, drawing attention to herself the moment she enters the room. There’s just something about Acacia that brightens up the atmosphere, causing smiles to appear whenever she’s around. The fact that she’s not hard on the eyes attracts lingering gazes at times as well.

There isn’t a person in the school who doesn’t know of Acacia. She’s very involved in the school, such as partaking in the Student Council, helping out teachers, and getting to know everyone. Most of the rumors about her are good, due to the fact that there’s simply not much to complain about. She strives to be kind to everyone, to treat everyone the same way regardless of social class. The image she maintains is perfection, not having any holes.

She is skilled at feigning nonchalance, and often suppresses her actual emotions. Nobody has ever really seen Acacia express anger, although that doesn’t mean that she never feels angry. She has found that bottling up her feelings ends up with things moving more smoothly, and it also allows her to get along amicably with her parents and peers.

Due to her being in the Elite social class, perhaps some people would expect her to be snobby, or conceited. However, once getting to know her a bit, one will discover that she’s actually very humble about herself, often underestimating her own capabilities. People may believe that her being humble is just out of politeness, but that’s not the case. Acacia has very low self-esteem, and an inferiority complex. She can’t get out of the mindset that she’s not good enough, and nothing she does will ever be good enough. This stems from her childhood, and the high expectations that have been placed for her, even as an infant. Underneath her radiant outer shell, she conceals insecurity, doubt, and pain. Even though she seems confident of what she does, almost every single little action is plagued by self doubt.

Everything she does is for the sole purpose of making sure that’s she’s not disliked by anyone. Maintaining her perfect image is what’s saving her from extreme depression. So that’s what she does. Even then, she is most likely very close to the point of snapping. She polishes herself to who she wants to be, projecting herself as a confident, young leader with potential, hiding her cowardice, her inability to face who she truly is. Acacia lost sight of who she was at a young age, sacrificing her individuality and uniqueness in the hopes of being accepted.

Her biggest fear is being found out that she’s not who she pretends to be, yet it’s also what she craves the most.

Acacia is very perceptive, able to see every little detail and tiny little clues that are often overlooked. She has learned to judge people’s reactions, and look past their outer shell to perceive what they’re truly feeling. This is partially to survive in the world she lives in, and also partially because that’s what she wants, more than anything in the world: To be understood, and accepted for who she truly is. However, she’s too terrified of letting people down, to let down her guard.

History

Acacia Hawthorne was born to the revered Hawthorne family. Due to her family’s fame, ever since she was a baby she was in the spotlight. Almost every aspect of her life became public, and at a very young age, Acacia learned that mistakes were not to be tolerated. Every time she messed up, she was met with disapproving looks from her parents, and the media exaggerated them. Adapting quickly, she became a perfectionist, making sure that whatever she did was flawless.

Most children grow up with love and nurturing parents. Many parents believe that their child is the most amazing in the entire world, for better or for worse. However, Acacia’s parents were different. Being the youngest child, her older siblings have already began to make a name for themselves. The Hawthorne family didn’t accept anything less than extraordinary. Due to the actions of the brilliant older Hawthorne children, the already high expectations were raised even higher for Acacia. In order to coax a single approving nod from her stoic father, Acacia was forced to work even harder than everyone else had to.

Her home life was far from stable. Both of her parents were rather absent from raising their youngest daughter, both of them focusing much more on their careers. Acacia was mostly raised by her older siblings, and much of her insecurities developed here. Why weren’t mom and dad there for her? Why didn’t they compliment her when she drew them an amazing picture? Was she not good enough for them? It became her goal in life to prove herself to her parents, to make them proud of her. So far in life, she has been unsuccessful in that endeavor, despite her exceptional skill sets. Even when she skipped a grade, she barely got a smile from her parents.

Her family founded Caelbury Academy, and it only made sense for Acacia to enroll there, following the footsteps of everyone before her. Not only did her family have enough money, she had the qualities of a gifted person that the school valued so much. Acacia had no say in what high school she went to, and presumably no say in what college she will eventually attend, and she kept her mouth shut about this fact, going to Caelbury without complaint.

Once she became a freshman at this school, Acacia quickly made her way up the social ladder. Not only was she already part of the Elites, her charisma and charm also ensured her popularity. Even though she was a year younger than her classmates, she was well liked. Eventually, she became a part of the Student Council, achieving the rank of vice president in her Junior year, and the president in her senior year.

Her goals in life haven’t changed, or rather, the lack of goals. The only thing she wants is approval, and she’s willing to sacrifice her own dreams for that.

Acacia Hawthorne
“Every time I see her, it’s just like looking into a mirror! Hahaha!”

There’s no one that Acacia despises more than herself. And she absolutely detests that fact. She’s privileged, she’s smart, she has money… She’s living the dream life! She appreciates it, she really does… But she would have traded it all in a heartbeat for a normal life, and she’s disgusted that she’s not happy, even though people want to be her. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence, after all.

Brenden Aldrin
”Ah yes, the new principal. He doesn’t seem like the type to accept this job, or even get an offer to be the principal of Caelbury--No offense, really!--but I think he’ll do a really great job. With all of the stuffy, clique-y stuff going on around here, it’ll be refreshing to have a principal with a sense of humor. And more importantly, I think I caught my brother eyeing him! Hayden has a crush~”

To say that Acacia was surprised when she met Brenden is an understatement. He looked so normal, so laid back, so… Easy to get along with. In Acacia’s experience, that’s not the kind of person that becomes a principal. She’s eager to get the school year started, to see what Principal Aldrin can do. On a different note, after seeing Hayden so obviously smitten by this newcomer the moment he laid eyes upon him, (Oh, it wasn’t obvious? Well, it was to Acacia.) she thinks that they would really work well. She now presumably ships “Brayden”, and will write fanfiction about them… Oh wait, that’s just me, not Acacia. Not to mention, it’s kinda creepy.

Hayden Hawthorne
”Is it weird to have my older brother as the vice principal? Yes, obviously. But it’s kind of nice too, you always know that someone is there for you. I think he scares some people off though, haha!

Also, he is not my father! Come on guys, he’s only nineteen years older than me. I mean, yeah that’s quite the age difference, but what can I say? Mother and father were busy. ...I should not have said that. Oh God…”

Hayden is possibly one of the only people that Acacia trusts absolutely. Despite him being the oldest Hawthorne child, and she the youngest, they’ve always had a special bond, different than any of the relationships she has with her 10+ siblings. He’s such a reassuring presence to her, someone she doesn’t necessarily have to put on her strong face for--but she does anyway. Her older brother is an inspiration to Acacia as well, considering the fact that he went against Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne’s wishes, and found happiness.

Acacia is such a good sister, she knows of his love for sweet, sugary things, so she often leaves homemade cookies, or other treats upon his desk.

Flynn Zimmerman
”Mr. Zimmerman is such an enigma, even after knowing him during my high school life, I still feel that I don’t know anything about him. Oedipus is such an odd name for a cat though, I hope he doesn’t have any students named Antigone…”

He intrigues Acacia endlessly, and she can’t help but wonder what goes on in that mind of his. To her, he seems that he’s living in his own world, distanced from the mundane life that exists within Caelbury Academy. Flynn has found peace within himself, and the Student Council President is very envious of that fact.

Lilli Lafontaine
”I don’t think I really see her in class, which is definitely a problem, but she gets along well with most people which is nice. I hope that we’ll be able to have a conversation in French sometimes, I’m getting a bit rusty.”

Acacia will never understand how people can ditch class so casually. Being the goody-two-shoes that she is, it’s a taboo thing! Yet Lilli does it so often, Acacia may need to talk to her as the president…

Jacob Rockwell
”Mr. Commanding Officer, eh? He’s a great fit for that position. His understanding of physics and mathematics are incredible. I can talk to him about stuff like that without sounding like a pretentious show-offy snob, so that’s always great!”

Acacia can understand Jacob so well, it hurts. Seeing him while he was depressed, but hiding it, resonated deeply with her. After all, isn’t she doing the exact same thing? She had attempted to extend a helping hand, but Acacia has no idea how effective that was. Despite the obvious trauma, it’s apparent that he’s trying to make the best out of life--that’s why she considers him stronger than her.

Roman Zelenka
”I can’t believe he got into this school via lottery, he probably had the potential to be accepted the traditional way!”

Acacia hasn’t had the chance to have a long conversation with him yet, but she longs to. She wants to listen to all of his stories about other countries, and learn about all of his experiences. It’s quite mind-boggling to her that he’s been all over, and she really hopes that he’ll like Caelbury Academy.

Vladimir Kalkovich
”Not only is he smart, you can tell that he really loves music. I wish I had something that I truly loved to do…”

Seeing Vladimir conjures a bittersweet feeling within Acacia. On one hand, he has the capability of brightening up a room. On the other hand, she senses darkness lurking behind his smile. She's not sure if there really is, but Acacia wants to help him. Sometimes, it's best not to pry, but how will you get help if nobody knows about your problem?

Rayne McCutcheon
”She has pink hair! It looks so cute. Anyways, she’s a troublemaker, that one. Skipping class all the time, smoking… I’ll have a word with her later. She needs anger management classes, and also she needs to learn to be more gentle. Love you Rayne~”

If there is an unlikely pair of friends, it’s Acacia and Rayne. Who knows? Maybe it’s true that opposites attract. But to Acacia, it’s probably the fact that Rayne reminds her a little of one or two of her older sisters. Although Acacia will never be able to let loose and ‘enjoy’ life the way Rayne does, she certainly appreciates how Rayne doesn’t care about other people’s opinions.

James McNamara
[i]”He’s smooth as silk, and lives with a devil-may-care attitude. Although I’m slightly worried that it’ll get him into trouble someday, his musical skill is amazing. The guitarist is usually one of the most popular members in a band, combine that with his charisma and you have a dangerous man indeed.”

Acacia is so impressed by James. At the surface, he seems like he cares little about everything, but dang, he can be deep. It’s like you can only see the tip of the iceberg. However, there is one thing that catches her attention in particular. It’s obvious that he has bad eyesight, you can tell by the way he squints when trying to see. If he doesn’t want to have glasses, why not get contacts?

Nathan “Nate” Dixon
”I might just have to recruit him for my father’s company when he graduates, he’s that skilled! Besides that, he’s a joy to be with, and he’s so willing to do everything, it’s refreshing.”

Acacia can tell a fake smile when she sees one, and she has determined that Nate’s smile is clouded. Like herself, Nate is a person who refuses to allow weakness, and she can see so much of herself within him. She’s probably going to recruit him to join the Robotics Club, and maybe see if Hayden can get him to open up a little, or at least distract him from his inner sorrow for a while.

Julie Scott
”How does she know so many languages?! It’s my goal to be able to speak five languages, and she’s got like… at least ten right now. Haha, I feel like I’m underachieving. Anyways, Julie is so sweet, and is definitely a hard worker. I hope to get to know her better this year!”

Acacia has always been extremely sensitive to how people react to her wealth, and she senses that Julie is a tad uncomfortable being around people who are multimillionaires. Not that she can blame her, it is kind of intimidating. She definitely wants to become better friends with Julie, Acacia has always enjoyed spending time with her.

Max Wallenberg
”I see him a lot, since we’re both in Student Council. He’s pretty fun to talk to, he has a lot of conversation topics. Maybe I’ll ask him to recommend a book to me.”

The way he carries himself isn’t your normal rich kid. His actions, preferences, are all a little… strange compared to his peers. That’s pretty interesting to Acacia, and she loves listening to him and his writing. Even though he’s not having the easiest time with it, Acacia will always be there to edit, offer ideas, and give critique--all on the condition that he’ll be the first one to give an autograph to.

Cole Grimoire
”I had no idea that he had a thing for skating until this year, he just always seemed rather distant from the ice rink. He has great potential, he just needs a little polishing! He thinks rather highly of himself though.”

She has no clue that Cole has a thing for her. Not. At. All. Even though Acacia is perceptive about everything and everyone else, she is incredibly dense when it comes to herself. So, having no idea, she continues to help Cole improve with his figure skating, and is often seen on the ice with him.

August Marco
”I hear about him so much from the discipline department! Me being me, I have to nod and agree with the teachers in charge, but his pranks and are usually so funny! I’ve had to talk to him a few times about stepping over the line, but I can’t help but like him. He’s adorable.”

Despite Acacia laughing at his actions, she can get a headache dealing with the teachers, and cleaning up after some of his messes. In a way, August is like the little brother she never had, trying to get him to improve his grades, and at times being strict and firm, while still appreciating his little troublesome personality.

Saul Kirschenzweig
"He's definitely one of the stricter teachers at Caelbury, and I think we need that, since many of our teachers are so laid back. I've heard that he was amazing when he was an actor, and I definitely believe it. You don't get critique like that unless it's from a truly seasoned actor."

Even the perfect Acacia Hawthorne has a little trouble pleasing the theater teacher. She's not bad at acting by any means--in fact her skill in lying gets her to an 'above average' level. After years and years of harsh critique from her parents (often without any positive feedback), Acacia is used to Saul's blunt nature, and it doesn't bother her at all. She's definitely not a person who cries in his class. As a Hawthorne, Acacia is used to be treated differently by some teachers, but she appreciates the fact that Saul doesn't.

Wren Sinclair
"You know, I wonder if she's ever met my sister, Mikaela. Mikaela is an actress too. I should ask her about that sometimes. Anyways, Wren is such a sweetheart. She's so young, but she's already making a name for herself too. I'm really proud of her, and I'm honored to be able to call her one of my closest friends. She's like my little sister!"

Like Wren, Acacia grew up in the spotlight, under the judging stares of strangers. She understands what the younger girl is going through, and also deals with the intense pressure placed upon them. Wren reminds Acacia of herself, and that's not necessarily a good thing. She's seen how the actress stresses herself out, or how she reconstructs herself for her fans. Acacia knows the consequences of that since she's dealing with them at the moment, and she hopes that Wren realizes that she can't please everyone, and should just be herself. Hypocritical much, Acacia? Well, Acacia's always been good at giving advice, but she's always terrible at following them.
Eliza Herring
"That stuck up little--Haha okay, you got me. Eliza is amazing, and I don't know what I'd do without her. Especially in Student Council. If she didn't organize my crazy ideas, nothing would get done!"

Each of Acacia's three best friends have a different role in her life. Acacia can be a little more relaxed and daring with Rayne, she can be the older sister and fuss over Wren, but Eliza is the one that understands Acacia the most outside of her siblings. Having grown up in a very similar environment, Acacia and Eliza are rather similar in nature. However, there's a fundamental difference between the two that separates them: Eliza is much, much stronger than Acacia. It's a quality that Acacia envies.

Damien Lilly
"The first thing that comes to mind when i think of Mr. Lilly is, BOOM! He gets that mad-scientist look in his eyes whenever he's talking about them. It's entertaining to be sure."

Gifted in the arts of science, chemistry has never really been a hard class for her. Compared to physics, chemistry has always been a bit more of a bore to Acacia. The different labs that they do under Mr. Lilly's guidance though, it has definitely caught a bit of her interest.

Adira Huston
"I remember seeing Ms. Huston smile when she caught August sleeping in class. That was kind of frightening, she enjoys straightening people out I guess? She kinda just charged into the classroom..."

Ms. Huston is one of the teachers that Acacia doesn't really know that well. And why would she? Acacia is a model student that never steps a toe out of line. Acacia thinks that Ms. Huston might be a little too strict at times. Like, was it really necessary to rant for an hour about someone falling asleep in class?

Celia Honey
"I'm so glad Ms. Honey is back, the school wasn't quite the same without her. Some of the students looked so sad when their favorite counselor left the school! So many people are harboring problems at Caelbury, but I'm sure that they'll find help in Ms. Honey. She's so approachable!"

Acacia is concerned about Celia. She can't shake the feeling that a shadow has fell upon the sunny teacher. There's also the fact that she left quite suddenly, and came back again with no explanation. Now Acacia's not one to overstep boundaries to find out what happened, but she can't get rid of her concern either.

Seth Kabhsenuf
"Mr. Kab is such an interesting teacher. His words are cryptic at times, but once you understand the subtext, it's really simple. He's so nice too, and his classes are easy to understand."

Acacia senses hesitance from the literature teacher, especially when someone is having some sort of conflict in front of him. There's a look in his eyes that says he wants to intervene, but something is holding him back. There's always a time to act, and a time to observe, and she wonders if Seth is able to differentiate the two accordingly.

Tori Hawthorne
"She's my older sister, but sometimes we're mistaken for twins. We're nothing alike though, she's a lot more daring and sure of herself than I am. She's definitely free-spirited, and we have an everlasting battle of me trying to get her to calm down, and her trying to get me to be more less uptight. We cancel each other out!"

Tori is the second youngest Hawthorne, and being the last two children born to the family, Tori and Acacia have grown up under the exact same circumstances. Both of them were rather neglected by their parents, so they relied on each other most of the time when they had no one else. Aside from Hayden, Tori is the closest sibling that Acacia has.

Standing at 5’11” with a lean, yet muscular build, Brenden isn’t necessarily intimidating, but he radiates confidence. Although he usually doesn’t seem to fit the part of the principal of an elite school, he can present himself formally when need be.

Brendon is a person born with a very strong sense of justice. He has a clear sense of right and wrong, and although there are many complicated areas of gray, he usually is very good at separating them into black or white. Brenden is a defender of the weak, the type of person to confront a bully.

Brenden has been, and always will be a very competitive person. He loves showing off, and although he doesn't think himself above anyone, he always enjoys an argument testing his wits. He'll accept his mistakes... As long as you can prove it to him. Seriously, you'd better have a damn good argument if you're about to correct him. He'll apologize graciously... If and when you prove it. Cocky and aggressive at times, he can tone it down when he needs to.

Although he is as stubborn as a mule, Brenden is very understanding, being empathetic enough to understand how other people are feeling in various situations. Due to this trait, Brenden is a very reliable person to go and talk to, if you ever need advice, or a shoulder to cry on. Gifted with the ability of knowing when to be funny, and when to be serious, he strives to make life better for everyone as much as he can.

Living in a high end world, like the environment of Caelbury Academy, one doesn’t get far by just his sense of humor. Indeed, this world can be at times harsh and humorless. Therefore, Brenden can shape up and be stoic, formal, and strict. His more business-like persona is in place when he’s around the higher-ups and people of the upper class community. He’s not a huge fan of being formal, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Without it, people wouldn’t think that he’s capable for the job. However, in the school, the principal can be seen joking around with students and staff, his formal persona only coming into play during formal meetings.

History
Strictly middle class, the world of the upper class seemed like a fantasy to the commoner, Brenden Aldrin. As a child, he would often come home with bumps and bruises, due to him getting into fights with bullies to protect the victims. He lived a fairly normal life. He got good grades in high school, he had a few friends, played a fair amount of sports, and in general, had fun.

Then one day, his high school principal retired, and got replaced by Mr. Aiken. Mr. Aiken was the meanest, rudest, most pompous man Brenden had ever met. Mr. Aiken frowned upon the word “fun”, and made it his life goal to force students to become as boring as he was, apparently. Naturally, Brenden wouldn’t stand for that, so obviously, Mr. Aiken despised Brenden. The new principal started cancelling school dances, fun activities, and yelled at any sign of laughter. Brenden rebelled, rebelled, and rebelled. But he was clever, he never did anything drastic enough to actually get into legitimate trouble, something that probably infuriated Mr. Aiken. On his last day of school, Brenden was seen flipping Mr. Aiken off as he walked out.

He was determined to make sure something like this never happened again, so he decided to become a principal--a fun one. An awesome one, so that students will want to come to school, because it’ll be fun! After years of studying, he went back to his old high school, and knocked Mr. Aiken off of his perch, becoming the principal of his old school. He spent a couple of years there, enjoying himself, and marveling at the fact that he was the boss of his old teachers now.

So, how did someone like Brenden Aldrin become the principal of Caelbury Academy? Well, the old principal of Caelbury Academy was a person who went to the same college as Brenden, and they were rather good friends. That principal was at Caelbury for a long time, before accepting the position of a superintendent of another school. As a personal favor, he asked Brenden to take his place. After much thought, Brenden decided to accept it, despite his nerves about mingling with the upper class.

Personality: Wildly artistic, Lili often cuts class in favor of pursuing her latest idea or socializing with friends. She tends to hang around Gifted students out of admiration and her distaste for the cliques and politics of many Wealthy students. She often jumps into leading roles for group projects, but usually needs a capable assistant to organize for her and contain her scatterbrained energy.

History: Lili came to America specifically to attend the renowned Caelbury Academy and prepare to take over the family business someday. She adapted quickly to her newfound freedom, living with only a caretaker on this side of the Atlantic. She has managed only middling grades thus far, but enjoys a generally good reputation among students and teachers alike.

Jacob is lithe, standing at a short 5'5" (165 cm) but weighing in at only 110 pounds (about 50 kg). His eyes are a gentle hazel color, and his hair is light brown, as pictured.

Grade: 12 (4th year at the Academy, i.e. a Senior.)

Social Class: Gifted

Social Class Explanation: Extremely gifted intellectually, scored within the 99th percentile nationwide on the ACT aptitude test. counting the optional writing portion. Overall Score: 35. He specializes in Physics and Mathematics, and although he occasionally makes mistakes with problems, his scores are still far above almost all others.

Personality: Jacob is a kind but somewhat reclusive individual. Getting him to open up can be difficult unless you share one of his interests (space/astrophysics, guns/airsoft, and glorious VIDEO GAMES) with a great passion. When it comes to friends, he values quality over quantity, but if he can find a group of people who he can get along with, he'll happily associate with them. He takes his work seriously and abhors cheating, especially since his intellectual talents are what got him into the prestigious school. He dislikes rulebreaking in general, to be perfectly honest, but he does acknowledge that everybody has their own situation. If you're not actively hurting people, he doesn't mind letting some things slide. One exception is members of his JROTC unit. As Commanding Officer, he takes his job extremely seriously and holds every cadet in high esteems, and expects them to act respectable and follow all the rules. History: Jacob grew up on long Island in New York, born to an ordinary mother and a father with a checkered and rather exciting past. His father once held a position of relative power, but circumstances forced him into a new business after a legal scandal which cost him his career. After this, his father started an electrical company that quickly flourished, taking contracts at Universities and other such places, for millions of dollars at a time. Within the past year, however, this company has started plummeting, with contracts drying up and money disappearing from under his father's nose. Jacob, much like is father, was a gifted student from the first day, excelling in classes, but performing poorly when it came to athletics, though his small frame made him agile and fit. He went through elementary school like any other, and suffered extreme torment from others while in middle school. After he completed middle school, his scholastic excellence was noticed and he was offered placement at Caelbury, which he graciously accepted.

In his first year at Caelbury, he suffered from a depression he tried to hide behind a veil of indifference and cynicism. He was in the chess club at this point, but quit early in his second year. His grandfather died shortly after his 15th birthday (May 7th of his first year at Caelbury), only exacerbating his depression. During the following summer, he suffered an extremely traumatic event (to be revealed IC if that is okay) that caused him to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. After a fellow member of the chess club, and a good friend, passed away from a seizure early in his second year, Jacob nearly committed suicide, only being spared from his own self-pity and depression by a few words from an unknowing friend.

After deciding that his life would be made into something worthwhile, he became driven to do whatever he could to the best extent of his possibilities, though he did quit the chess club after his friend's death. The memories were too painful, and his second year of school consisted of many psychological breakdowns and trips to the school's counselors. His third year saw a noticeable improvement, until a family friend passed away from cancer and Jacob started seeking outside therapy. After a self-mutilation attempt, Jacob was hospitalized temporarily between his third and fourth years at the Academy, this event causing many of his friends to break ties with him.
Now in his fourth year, he hopes to make new friends and do the best he can to get his life back on track and become an astrophysicist, as he dreams.

Extracurricular Activities: Airsoft Club Founder, Academy MCJROTC Captain and Commanding Officer. Member of the Aeronautics and Space club.

Miscellaneous: His vision is 20/400 in his right eye, 20/500 in his left. Basically, he's blind without his glasses. Has a large square-shaped burn on his back as well as many vertical stretch marks there, as well as horizontal stretch marks on his knees and thighs. He doesn't speak of the burn and few ever see it unless he is swimming, at the beach, etc. In addition, he suffers from acute Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, with the triggers for his panic attacks and flashbacks being: suddenly being touched (mainly from behind) being backed into a corner by people, and loud noises. Frequently suffers from major logic malfunctions when dealing with females. Notable incidents include calling a close friend's thighs "massive." This was intended as a compliment. Yeah, he can screw up royal. REAL royal. He is also prone to fits of anger and violence, especially when his PTSD is triggered. His weekly therapy appointments are on Sundays. Finally, he's been taking anti-depressants since about halfway through his third year. Jacob is independently learning Latin.

The following are a series of voice recordings of Jacob Rockwell's opinions and feelings about some of his fellow students and some teachers.

Acacia Hawthorne: "Ahhh...Hawthorne. The prodigal daughter. I heard she's got an IQ of like 200. Ridiculous. Drop-dead gorgeous, money to change the world, and smarter than pretty much anyone alive. Student Council President to boot. Basically, pretty much the perfect schoolgirl. I've had the privilege of dealing with her, what with having founded the Airsoft club, and frankly, it's nigh impossible not to like her."

Lili Lafontaine: "Lafontaine? She's...one of those artsy people, right? Likes hanging out with 'Gifted' kids. Seen her around, spent some time with her. No complaints. Nice girl. Wouldn't mind recruiting her, but it's a bit late for that."

Jacob Rockwell: "It's...that's me. What am I supposed to say about myself, some deep philosophical bullshit? Shut up."

Roman Zelenka: "Guy speaks about half a dozen languages and got in on the lottery? Don't make a lick of sense to me. I guess he's the type that doesn't apply himself. Seems like him, to be honest. He's a bit too laid back if you ask me, but to each their own. Doesn't make him a bad person."

Vladimir Kalkovich: "I like Vlad. He's a cool guy. Like a younger, more attractive version of me. Smart as hell, and a bit of a joker. Plays airsoft too, but that's just a bonus in my mind."

Rayne McCutcheon: "Rayne. Ugh, Rayne. Skips class all the time, yet manages better grades than damn near everybody. Teaches herself, I guess, or she's just that damned smart. She could use a little bit of this thing called tact, though. I put my foot in my mouth, sure, but damn, I can at least keep my trap shut when I need to. All in all, not a bad person, but not the type I normally like to hang around."

James McNamara: "Don't like him one bit. He's the opposite of someone like me: sly, takes things too loosely, and worst of all, has no regard for rules or laws. No thanks, next?"

Nathan "Nate" Dixon: "Genius. Absolute genius. I'm decent with computers, I can figure them out fine, but this guy blows away normal human beings. I'd say he's a savant, but that's not even true. Guy's pretty normal, except when you put technology into the mix. Then he's basically a god."

Julie Scott: "Julie's a bit like me. Kinda awkward, but not in a way that makes you want to back away slowly. Vice President of the International Committee. You'd be hard pressed to not like her, in all honesty. She's...really, she's amazing. Off the record, I wouldn't mind-Hey, I said turn that damn thing o-"

Cole Grimoire: "Normal guy. Nothing wrong with that. Kinda cocky, but overall he's a decent guy. Wouldn't mind chatting with him sometime. Not too fond of how he treats ladies, though. He acts like he's a smooth motherfucker, but really he's right on par if you ask me."

Max Wallenberg: "Max...Maxy Max Max Max. The only thing he maximizes is the amount of girls he does and deserts. Overall, he's actually not a bad guy, though. Lot of those types around here, but most of those ain't the rich kids. He sticks out like a sore thumb among the rich kids, really. I've seen him grimacing when someone brings up buying a new car. I think everybody who isn't a pampered little kid in a teen body does, though."

August Marco: "Oh...Marco. Of everyone I've met at the Academy, he is probably one of the worst. It's one thing to not take classes seriously...it's another to vandalize the damned school! The amount of damage he alone has caused to this place...we had to replace three hundred uniforms because of his little stunt with the sprinklers! Three. HUNDRED. Military uniforms, too. They are not cheap."

Eliza Herring: "She seems like a...very manipulative person. Not like your typical black widow or 'man's lady,' but the type to only befriend people who are useful to her. If you want my full opinion, I think she's a sociopath. Certainly gives me the vibe of it. She acts like a damned politician and it pisses me off. Like she's better than other people because she's rich and proper-like. I mean, bearing is important, but it don't make you a better person. Oh well, she's not the type of person I deal with anyway. Lucky me."

Catherine Sinclair: "Wren, huh? Theater girl, carries herself as one would expect of a person of her station. Saw her in a play once. Maybe four or five times...what, she's good! Real good. She's a celebrity, and not on the same level of the other kids here. If you ask me, she's one of the only kids in this school who has earned her spotlight. Yes, Acacia may be a genius, but she's yet to do anything. Nothing wrong with that, but if she wasn't rich, nobody would pay attention to her. Nobody in the real world, at least. Not like that with Wren. She's...she's got something most people don't, especially not at her age. If she weren't so busy with theater, I'd hound her like a dog to get her to join the program. We could use a girl that single-mindedly devoted. Lord knows that devotion helped me..."

Yukiko Sakurai: "I have nothing to say about Yukiko Sakurai. Not if I value my life, anyway. Politics is a minefield I don't wanna cross."

Alice Profit: "I've heard rumors...about drugs. Lots and lots of drugs. I don't know if she's your typical snobby rich brat or she's got some serious shit going on, but if what people say is true, she's tried and sold some of the hardest shit out there. All of which is illegal. Pot's one thing, even if it is illegal. I'm actually for legalization. But coke? Meth? No. Unacceptable. I just hope...for her own sake...that she gets out of this. I'd never say anything to her, though. From my own experience, this is something that she needs to start,"

Damien Lilly: "Lilly is a really bad last name for a guy. I had a teacher a few years back named Mister Seaman. I don't like chemistry so much, but he's not a bad teacher. Besides, I do need to know chemistry for physics, so I had the pleasure of seeing him make some awesome...chemical reactions. Some of them are really cool." -Smirk-

Seth Kabhsenuf: "Mr Kab? Uh...well, uh...I've never had him as a teacher. I've heard about him, though. Kinda cryptic, I've heard. Wise kind, though. Like, what he says is...hard to understand, but usually really insightful. Can't say I've ever really had the experience with him, but I've dealt with people like that. Not a bad kind of person, those types."

Adira Huston: "Miss Huston and I will be working together quite often this year, I can imagine. Dealing with unruly JROTC members is going to be interesting, that much is certain. I've personally never been down to see her, thankfully."

Celia Honey: "Oh...uh...Celia..." "Sorry about that. Yes, I spent...some time with her my sophomore year. Quite a bit of it. But that's no secret; my breakdowns were...pretty conspicuous. It sucked to see her go. She usually hid it from people, but since she's back, I...I think it's okay to bring it up. Around the end of the year before she left, I noticed her getting more and more depressed. I thought that being a counselor got to her, but...well, she's divorced now, so I think we can tell that wasn't the case. But, I haven't been to the school counselor in a while, though, so I don't think her and I will be seeing each other this year, really."

Alli Kendrick: "Ms. Kendrick. Oh God, do we have to talk about her? I thought she was a student when I first saw her and made an ass of myself. I thought she was a cheerleader...not the captain. Anyway, uh...I'm sure she's a fine teacher and coach and all. I just...haven't had a class with her yet."

Brendan Aldrin: "Principal Aldrin, huh? Always wondered if he's related to the astronaut. How much of a coincidence would that be, huh? Anyway, I like him. Got to meet him once when he visited the ROTC room to meet the Colonel. Seems like a fun kind of guy. Not sure if that's the best quality for a principal to have, though."

Hayden Hawthorne: "He runs the Aeronautics and Space club, and worked for NASA. He's awesome. Nothing further."

Flynn Zimmerman: "That's the cat guy, right? Cute little bastard. The cat, that is. He teaches ethics and philosophy, right? Hate those subjects, too grey for me. Gotta stay away from the grey. He's a little creepy, though. Can kinda just...disappear and pop up somewhere else without you realizing."

Saul Kirschenzweig: "The Colonel? I have nothing but respect for that man. He's the SMI and a drama teacher, and that's a lot to handle, but he still manages it great. Some people might think he's a bit too informal as an SMI, but he's strict when he needs to be. He's a no-nonsense kind of guy, and I like that."

Social Class Explanation
Roman was a very intelligent child and, over the years, expressed a desire to learn, specifically languages. In his mid teens he could already speak five languages to a nearly fluent standard; Czech, German, English, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese (he learnt the first two from a young age and the others from travelling). Despite the fact he was sharp and smart, he never truly applied himself at school and went of the rails with his education. Due to this, he is considered a Commoner at Caelbury, but he has the potential to be a gifted student.

Personality
Roman is quite a calm and observant guy. He tends to let other people do the talking, as he doesn't have the same lust for attention as some others do. Despite the fact he is generally quite silent, he is not shy. He is suave, quickwitted and assertive when he wants to be, but that is only in special circumstances.
In terms of emotion, he rarely shows any. His face is hard to judge, and he isn't the type to sob on a friend's shoulder. He deals with his problems alone, no matter how severe. The best way he can express himself is through his music.
First impressions mean a lot to Roman. He will not hold a lifelong grudge, but if you're an ass to him when you first meet him, he will probably mistrust you for quite some time. This also means that he is loyal and friendly to those that welcome and accept him.

History
Roman was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, where his Czechoslovakian parents had moved for his father's work. Roman's father was a translator for a Czech business company, which meant that he was regularly relocating. Roman only lived in Germany for the first four years of his life, when his father was given work in London.
Roman instantly settled in to school and life in general in England, a bright and popular young child who was always top of his class. He spoke Czech, German and English perfectly as a young boy, whilst some adults around him were limited to English. He also discovered his love for music in England, as most popular music around the world was English. He learnt to play guitar and was determined to one day write and play music for a living. He made close friends, but, of course, they would not last, as, when he turned 12 years old, he was yet again forced to relocate with his family.
This time, his father would be working in Beijing, China. He had moved continent. This world was completely alien to him, a whole new culture, but luckily his father had prepared him for it by teaching both him and his mother Mandarin Chinese. This time he did not settle in so fast, but settle in he did. Several months in to his new life in the orient, he discovered his parents were splitting up, his father having an affair. Custody was given to his father, as he was the money earner. His mother relocated to America without him to live with her parents. Roman found it even harder to live in China now, so he requested to his father that they move. His father explained that he could take a job in Tokyo, so, he did.
Japan wasn't too different to China, and Roman's temperament had changed. He was silent, cold and detatched. He no longer scored the top grades in his class, now he was a slacker. As he aged, he began to drink and smoke. He played in a band and abandoned his passion for school completely, participating in gang crimes like vandalism and theft. He no longer spoke with his father. In many people's book, he was an utter failure.
Suffering depression in his later teens, Roman took another blow, perhaps the biggest of all, when his father had a fatal heart attack. Roman then had to leave his good friends behind and head to the USA to live with his mother and grandparents. By the time he was 17 he had successfully, despite reluctantly, made the move overseas. He is now attending his first year as a Senior in America.

MCJROTC stands for Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. As opposed to the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), a JROTC program serves primarily as a "Leadership Education" course, teaching students about military structure, military history, ethics, etiquette, and helping to develop teens into functioning, positively influential members of society. There's no obligation to serve in the military, but military branches typically offer an immediate promotion after basic training to somebody who has completed a certain amount of time in JROTC (3 years if memory serves correctly).

A JROTC unit is organized similarly to a genuine military unit, depending upon the size of the unit itself. My unit only had about 100 people at any given time (which is rather small in all actuality), so we were a company. Other schools can have full battalions, which are comprised of multiple companies. Extracurricular activities that a JROTC unit would perform are pretty varied. My company visited Parris Island, Quantico, the Museum of Marine Corps History, and Splish Splash on trips (even marines gotta chillax.) Units often compete in drill competitions, practicing marching and the prompt and skillful execution of commands against other units, and participate in local events. I was the Marine Corps Flag Bearer for my unit's Color Guard for quite a while, and have done Honor Guards (Where you carry ceremonial sabres) twice. It's really quite fun if you invest time into it.

He's in an Elite school. ( I'M NOT SAYING ELITE PEOPLE CAN'T GO INTO THE ARMY/MARINES/NAVY/AIR FORCE. Especially since a lot of hugely historical figures served in the military. Especially that. o_o)

So, what I was wondering is: would this program assist in getting him into West Point, USAFA, or the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland? I'm sure I'm forgetting some prestigious military acadamies, but those are the only ones I know of, since I know one person from my class attends West Point and another is attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and his brother attends USAFA. I know they all had to do a lot of stuff just to apply there, much less get accepted, especially since the High School I attended wasn't like a huge blip on the radar; it was rather small, compared to a lot of others.
