I like the current logo. The old logo reeks of 2007 with the grungy font; the new one is modern. You will all get used to it anyway.
The new logo reeks of lazy, and I'm saying it as a person who generally prefers minimalist design. ...Choose standard font, use bold, color orange, plaster a stock icon of something vaguely writing-related before it (even if it isn't stock, it'll only take literal thirty seconds to draw).
I am not saying remove it. I'm just saying it makes an okay temporary placeholder. It is simply ... meh. It works, but is ultimately completely boring and generic. It isn't memorable or distinct. Eventually, RPG should definitely get something that is more, well,
roleplayerguild. That said, a contest and user vote could probably work quite nicely.
(And if I hear one more time something along the lines of, "It is better because it looks like this year's newest fad!" I'm probably going to ... heave an exasperated sigh? It's one of the most pointless arguments people like to throw about when it comes to anything design. This is why we get things like the original Windows 8 design on devices that don't even have touch-screens and other similar mildly dysfunctional and/or nigh-identical designs.)
But we could argue our personal and less personal preferences
ad nauseum.
