I made a comment about electricity earlier. Alchemy, as far as I can think of, can't do the electricity and magnetism thing. It's a limit on energy and the fact that to make a bolt of electricity you would need to create a potential difference of 50,000 Volts per inch of air. This must be done WITHOUT the technology done to make it happen today (as transformer and much more complicated stuff). Also, an electric field and potential difference of such a magnitude is actually easier to create than a magnetic field of that caliber. Magnetic fields are far harder to create in a sense than electric.

I feel like Buzz Killington by saying this stuff.

Not completely right. There's an alchemist that uses electricity in the anime, but he uses wires to transmit it and a dynamo to generate it. Batteries are chemical devices, too, so they are completely within the realms of what one could do with alchemy.

@dndragons
Darnit, forgot Alchemy was on a more 1-use basis... hmmm back to the drawing boards

(edit- Maybe I'll go into magnetism to make electricity or something similar... Or I go into physics and manipulate physical forces... ehhh)

Just like I said above, most of the alchemy on the series is complete scientific bull. You could go an alchemist that creates electrical power from battery components that he carries around and use a conductor objects to pass on the charge. It would be very stream punkish, just like the setting's tech seems to be.

@GummyCatI agree with KoL, it's scientific enough that you could easily make it work. I only said no to Shadow alchemy to to a 100% lack of science

Gosh, how many mistakes I had to correct here. That's what you get for being careless while posting from your phone.

There is no alchemist in brotherhood or in the manga that uses electricity. The only mention of a state alchemist with 'electric' power is something from a Game Boy Advance game for FMA which isn't canon. I mean if you want to allow it sure, I am just saying.

I just feel like most ideas try to make their character super special, when many off the alchemists in fma (including Armstrong, the Elric brothers and their teacher) used the most basic form of alchemy.

I agree with you on that, but it's mostly like that because the simpler forms of alchemy are the best when it comes to combat. The complex uses, are made more for research purposes. Rock and soil transmutation is specially useful since the source materials are everywhere.

One thing I noticed with some of the alchemy ideas, is that there's little to no regard for Equivalent Exchange.

Most of the alchemy is more or less manipulation and not as much giving up something and creating something new. Just something to think about.

Well taking the molecules in the air to create something different is basically the alchemy my character uses.

Pulling a quick retconn on Gresham, I've decided my original concept of an alchemist who uses the basic alchemy of Earth and metals mixed with liquid alchemy is what I'm going to use. To this end a transmutation circle is carved into the palms of each hand, left for liquid, right for eat and metals. Will update character sheet tomorrow, to tired right now. I will also post tomorrow

Hmm... I have a question. How does one turn the floor of a metal train wagon into quicksand? And, in case you do, shouldn't you create a hole on it? Certainly it's not thick enough to stuck anyone down. I'm just saying that because every alchemist that has a very specific power like he seems to have their own disadvantages and this seems to a situation where he would suffer from it.

Im soooooo sorry but my interest has dwindled down and Im trying to reignite it. If possible I'll try to jump in soon before it becomes too late, but you have my consent to proceed the story along without me if that happens xD
