Suna Kumoshita

Upon seeing the huge grin on Keiko's face, Suna knew that their definition of 'friend' differs in troublesome ways. Naturally, he had no intention to let himself be her henchmen. He had always disliked being roped into any sort of responsibility, especially the ones that revolve around causing trouble. But he felt that she also considered his suggestion seriously. After receiving the notebook, Suna couldn't help but draw a long breath as his eyes landed on the comically important 'FRIEND' written on the page. "Aren't you enthusiastic?" he said, his unwavering smile barely changing. He then introduced himself, "I'm Suna Kumoshita, of Class 1-C. You can call me Suna, as all my friends do."

He found it odd that Keiko didn't mention her year. For all he know she might be an upperclassman. Not that it matters much for Suna; he most likely wouldn't act differently around his peers or his seniors. Suna closed the notebook and returned it into his bag in a completely innocuous manner, "'Friends', then." he said. He deliberately ignored that part about her asking him a 'favor', in order to left her offer with an ambiguous non-answer.

While he waited for Keiko's reaction, his eye caught once more the student council president's figure. Quite a distance away, talking to a fairly tall, oddly expressionless boy. He hoped Keiko's little show earlier went unnoticed.

Hana

Hana watched as the girl began to write with the pencil in her mouth. It was rather impressive admittedly. It was a bit hard to read, but she still got the message. Hana nodded in understanding and simply sat next to the girl. She wrote in large letters, "Please Help Us Fix!" on her notebook and held it up as she sat next to the girl. She gave her a small smile in attempt to try to cheer up the crying girl. She hoped someone would come along the way and help them soon as it was hard to communicate with the girl nonetheless comfort her.

She got another page and began to write again. "I am Kirihara Hana. I am glad you are alright. You do not have to strain yourself but it would be nice if I knew what happened. Isn't there supposed to be someone with you?"

It was a good question. The girl could not have gotten anywhere on her own and must have been with someone. But what happened to that someone? Maybe they left to go get help? But the girl does not like being left alone and indeed, it is dangerous to leave her alone like this.

"Aren't you enthusiastic?"

"Of course I am. No way you're gonna refuse, after all!"
The grin she was still giving him indicated she didn't think he'd refuse at all. Why? Well, call it confidence in her ability to...charm, people. Yep, charm was a good word.

"I'm Suna Kumoshita, of Class 1-C. You can call me Suna, as all my friends do."

Suna, huh? So he was a first year, then. She was a second year herself, though this was her first year at Yamaku. Which means...as his upperclassman...he had to respect her and her word! Haha, yep. This was getting better by the second. He was going to ask what the favor was any second.

"'Friends', then." He still wore a friendly smile, though didn't say anything after that.

...any second now.

any second...

As the few seconds dragged on, Keiko went from enthusiastic, to bored, and right to annoyed. He...he wasn't going to say anything else, was he? He was just gonna leave it at that? She'd just tell him what her ingenious plan was and then he'd obviously have to agree! Any highschool boy would obviously love this plan. She couldn't think of a single reason for anyone to refuse, really, but she had been told before she wasn't exactly the...best influence. She opened her mouth to speak, and once again nothing came out. She smacked her forehead in frustration before reaching for the notebook. Except...the notebook had mysteriously disappeared. Most likely, he had put it away so she couldn't respond.

Wow. WOW, really!? That...that was incredibly mean. Like, seriously, she could understand it if he was teasing her or something. Really, that was just rude and mean. Someone should teach this jackass a lesson!...not like she had much room to talk about messing with people, though. That would have actually been pretty funny to watch if it was someone else...

She placed her hands on her hips again, still giving him an annoyed glare.

Well...she was at an impasse here. She could do something to Suna like wrest the notebook from his cold, dead, body. Or just leave the guy. Not like she really liked him all that much to begin with. Really, he didn't even ask to hear what the favor was before deciding he obviously didn't want to do it. What kind of a friend was that? Sure they had just met and all, but still! Though...come to think of it...he never said
no.

Well, then...obviously, that was a yes then! If he had refused, she'd probably have pestered him a bit, but since he didn't...First thing first, get the notebook back. And just like that, her glare was replaced by an annoyed pout, obviously meant to be cute and apologetic. She made a writing motion in the air with her hands. Her acting skills left quite a bit to be desired, she thought she did a pretty good job of it.

This would be so much easier if she could just yell at the guy. If all else failed, she could always play the victim and tell some other people some brute stole her notebook and she, a poor defenseless mute girl, had no means of protesting.

Aya

Aya at least managed to stand up, even though she felt herself tipping, vertigo seizing her. Miraculously she managed to hold her footing. But then she was faced with a dilemma.

She tried to help the girl, but the girl must have moved; she wound up nearly sticking her finger up the poor girl’s nose! β€œS-sorry!” she mumbled. β€œH-here. Here’s what we can do. I’ll pull you up, but you’ll have to… y-you’ll have to grab my hands. I’m s-sorry I can’t see to help you better.” Tears streamed down her face again in her shame. β€œI’m u-useless, a-aren’t I?”

Aimi

Aimi took the pencil again, though her mouth was trembling and she kept dripping tears on the notebook. Using a wobbly, barely-legible cursive, she wrote: β€œI am Hayashi Aimi. There is always someone with me. My friend” The thought trailed away as she pondered how to explain this. β€œWe had a fight after my wheelchair wrecked, and my friend left me here.” Nothing more, nothing less. She dropped the pencil for Hana to take again.

Sakura

With the situation of the delinquent girl taken care of without even needing to lift a finger, she shifted her entire attention towards the expressionless student in front of her. It was a little jarring to talk to someone who looked like he was in some sort of sleepless coma, but she hardly the expert on disabilities and their effects. The job of a normal student council president was hard enough, but when dealing with people with so many different backgrounds, personalities and disabilities, it was more like walking through a mine field. Just as the collapsed girl during her impromptu speech had demonstrated, every student was going to needed a different approach to interact with them and get some sort of influence over them. Though fear was pretty universal no matter what part of you was missing or broken. The only question remained if that was truly the way she wanted to go about these things.

"I'm Maksim Kato, class 3-2. It's nice to formally meet you, since I've heard so much from and about you..."

She gave a small nod towards him, acknowledging his introduction. There was apparently no need whatsoever for her to return the favor. It was only to be expected, as student council president she was bound to be somewhat of a celebrity among the students thanks to the speeches she had made in the start of the year and just now as well. She made a mental note to try and review some of the personal files, the fact that Maksim had made an effort to come and talk to her already made him a more interesting person.

"Though, I wonder, would you happen to be a pursuer of the visual arts? In appreciation and or creation, Miss President? I suppose not..."

Sakura lifted her shoulders upwards casually in a non-determined fashion.
"I have various interests, but some take priority over others."
What she said was very true, as president, there was very little room for any other hobbies. In addition to that, she had to remain on top of her homework, striving to remain one of the top students in the school as well as remain fit. Her schedule was filled to the brim and there was rarely any moment of the day where she wasn't rushing to her next activity. Now was one of the few occasions where she did have time actually. Since it was the start of the new year, there wasn't a lot of homework or tests yet.

It did raise the question of how and why Maksim himself was, as he called, "a pursuer of the visual arts". As far as she could judge, his own capabilities to appreciate those visual arts left much to be desired. The mental image of him trying to paint did not add up, so she deducted that his interest probably lay in art that he could perceive as artful in different ways such as touch. More skeptical people might want to argue that people with limited vision would never be able to create anything quite on the same level as those that had no such things holding them back.
Perhaps Maksim simply pursued those arts because people said he couldn't, simply because -he- knew he could and he continued doing what he enjoyed despite his disabilities.

Sakura smiled lightly at that train of thought: that was exactly what she admired in people. In a sense, Yamaku might be home to a lot more capable and stronger people than ordinary schools.
"That you are though, is interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing what you have created. It might give me some ideas to spice up this school for the upcoming sports and culture festivals."

Suna Kumoshita

While Suna was all smiles on the surface, he was more than slightly uncomfortable with himself, and the person in front of him. It was his notebook (his Maths notebook, to be precise), so him stowing it away with an innocent smile was, hopefully, not a terribly offensive gesture. If Keiko was just any meek girl he'd probably lack the heart to do what he did. Keiko's expression indicated that she caught on, and now Suna's fate all depended on whether Keiko was stubborn enough to forcibly (as in, physically) demand his notebook.

'No, no, no, that's definitely out of character. Don't give in, Suna!' Suna internally mumbled upon Keiko's pouting visage. She then made a gesture of writing; it was obvious what she meant. Suna did not intend to give up so easily, though. And really, he needs to go to the club he had interest in. He pointed to and tapped his small wristwatch, and made a small shake with his head. Wordlessly, Suna righted his bag and left Keiko, waving politely along the way.

Why did Suna stayed silent? Perhaps he felt that speaking would be 'unfair' based on his little sensibilities; to Keiko, though, it might seemed like adding insult to injury.

Hana

Hana gave the girl a gentle pat on the head. She then wrote back, "We will find your friend as soon as we fix your wheelchair. I am sure the two of you will make up."

Thankfully, the students here were sympathetic, probably because they knew of the hardships one had to face with disabilities, and some of them managed to help fix the wheelchair. It was not perfect, but it would do for now. Hana placed Aimi back onto the wheelchair, and began to push her around. She soon realized that had no idea what her friend looked like nor did she know where to take her.

She took a moment to pause and wrote on her notebook. "Where shall I take you?"

Suna didn't seem like she was going to hand over the notebook so easily. That was fine, she'd just do something else! All she had to-was he walking off? Like, just leaving her standing there? That was...like, really, really, mean. Like seriously that was just cruel. Leaving in the middle of a conversation like that. If she had been able to actually talk, that would be a bit different but at the moment? Yeah, that was just mean.

She scowled at Suna's back as he started walking away. Fine, then, 'friend' if that's how it was gonna be. Two could play this game, and unfortunately for you she was an expert at shenanigans! She audibly huffed and turned in the opposite direction as she stormed off. For the moment, she had no idea what she was going to do to get back at him, or even where she was going for the moment. If she had her drums with her, she'd just go beat on them to relieve stress. Now though?...she didn't really have much else.

Finally, she reached the girls dorms, not taking her long at all to reach her room. Her room was a bit of a mess as usual. Even in the few days she had been here, it already looked like a small hurricane passed through here. She flopped down on the bed, still thinking of some way she could get back at Suno. She could probably easily kick his ass...though, she'd wait until they had some 'alone' time to do it. Gah! What was she thinking. Sure she liked causing mischief, but actually fighting someone? Yeah, no....probably. She didn't have much else...maybe Suna's head would make a satisfying gong noise or something if she smacked it hard enough. Didn't seem like he had much of a brain up there...

Keiko grumbled to herself, sitting up on the bed. Ahh...she was bored and slightly annoyed. What should she do? Boredom wasn't something she was used too. She'd just go hit up Kohaku for something fun to do...even then, she'd have her drums if she was busy or something. Cleaning? Pfft...nah. Studying? Meh. Homework?...eh. Well, first thing she should probably do is see if she had a spare notepad or notebook around here somewhere....in the mess of a place she called her room.

Rikka

The first problem had quickly been solved when Rikka helped the blind girl up but she was immediately faced with a different problem. The girl really wanted to help Rikka up but it wasn't so easy as it seemed because like there had been said earlier the girl didn't have the thing called eyesight unfortunately. The girl herself seemed rather desperate to help Rikka out by getting her from the ground but Rikka noticed that it was somewhat difficult when multiple fingers poked into her face and nostrils. Out of self defense Rikka let go of her sole grip on the ground and made herself fall backwards onto her back to avoid any further touching from the girl. She let out a somewhat hurtful sound when she fell down to the ground and soon tried to get her composer back together by supporting herself again so her hairs and clothes wouldn't get any more dirty from the ground beneath them.

When Rikka was a little bit safe from the girl her clinginess she tried to help herself now, together with the help of the girl that was at least standing now. Rikka gently and slowly grabbed the blind girl her hand and waited a few seconds for the girl to notice and feel she was holding Rikka her hand "Are y-you o-okay if I pull m-m-myself up?..." Rikka waited for a answhere and slowly started to pull herself upright with the help of the girl her footing. In the progress she made some rather awkward poses and just straight out awful noises just to get herself upright again but it was all rewarded when her shoe soles touched the ground again with her body above them. As soon as she adjusted herself to properly stand on the ground again she released the girl from her own hand and awkwardly startled the girl without saying much words for the first two minutes. Eventually after being very embarrassed and red she let out a small fragile voice "T-thank... Y-y-you..." her words were soft but kind and easily to hear for a blind person since their focus lied on sounds "A-are you al-lone? Isn't it dangerous t-to walk around without any g-guidance like a-a dog or c-cane?..."

Suna Kumoshita

There was still quite a bit of guilt in Suna's gut after he left Keiko in such a cold manner; but that girl had a head so hard he doubt a pile driver could get through to her, and thus he had to resort to abusing Keiko's lack of speech to make up for his lack of straightforwardness. He tried to sigh it away, exiting the school building with steps that felt a bit heavy. The blue-streaked white shoes of his stood out under the bright sunlight, "I guess I'll go back to the dorms for now." he said.

It was then when she spotted two girls, one kneeled down with her wheelchair in a condition far from serviceable. "Poor girl." Suna reflexively commented. With a nondescript smile on his face, Suna then became one of the few students that pitched in to help fix it. He had heard that in other countries, sudden acts of kindness like this would've gotten you strange looks instead of thanks. He couldn't understand those people. After a short while, the wheelchair's looking good.

Before the helping group dispersed quietly, he took a short while to remember the people he had helped. On the wheelchair was a small-statured, black-haired girl styled prim and proper. She radiated a different sort of elegant compared to the student council president. A small but oddly noticeable clarinet-liked necklace swayed as she returned to the wheelchair.

There was another girl who stayed, one that looked pretty close to a doll. Suna waved his hand in greeting, "Yo, do you still need any he-" Just when Suna was about to finish his greeting, he noticed the girl was carrying a notebook, "Where shall I take you?" written on it. Having met Keiko mere minutes before, he knew what that meant. Just to check, his eyes ran to the girl on the wheelchair, and noticed that she, too, had a notebook of her own.

'That makes three today.' Suna internally commented. Too late for him to casually walk away, now that he had greeted them without so much a care in the world. He hoped that the amount of mutes he met today wasn't a bad omen.

Looks like that maths notebook will see some more use today.

Aimi Hayashi

Well, this was… unexpected. She’d thought that people wouldn’t help her. But within minutes, her wheelchair was assembled and Hana had lifted her back into her seat.

"Yo, do you still need any help-" She saw the boy looking hard at the notebook on her lap and blushed. He probably thought she was mute too.

β€œHello, thank you for fixing my wheelchair. My name is Aimi Hayashi.” Aimi spoke quietly, but confidently. β€œI’m not mute, but my friend Hana, Hana Kirihari, is mute and deaf, and so the notebook is the best way of communicating with her. What’s your name?”

Hana

Hana gave the boy a smile, not understanding what he has said but he was nice enough to have helped them earlier so she could trust him. She felt bad as he noticed that she could not hear him and appeared to feel uncomfortable. Fortunately, she saw that Aimi was talking to him, and probably explaining the situation. She took out her notebook and began to write. "Hello. Thank you again for your help. It was very kind of you."

Then she held the notebook with one hand for him to read and used her other hand to take his hand, giving it a gentle handshake. She still has not received an answer from Aimi as to where she wanted to go, but she supposed they were just going to hang out here and talk to...well, she doesn't know his name yet, but the boy that helped them out. Oh, they also needed to look for Aimi's friend so they could hopefully make up.

Even though she didn't know what was going on in their conversation, Hana was enjoying herself. They were getting along and it was almost kind of like having friends. Her parents probably would be overjoyed to see such a scene.

Suna Kumohshita

Suna awkwardly received the handshake from Hana. The accompanying silence gave him odd ideas that he quickly shooed away internally. Quickly recovering from his awkwardness, Suna pulled out the maths notebooks from his shoulder-slung bag. Making sure he wasn't writing on the same page Keiko had written on, he began scribbling with a pen, "My name is Suna Kumoshita, a first-year." he spoke to Aimi as his hand raced across the notebook, which he quickly turned so that Hana could see the same words he said to Aimi. His handwriting was a bit sloppy, but still legible.

"Where are you girls headed?" he wrote, a slight smile on his face. He figured that if written words are the common form of communication between the two, he should, too, forgo speech. There was an odd, somewhat unknown feeling when writing on paper what normally would be spoken. While he pondered upon those on the side, Suna drew a long breath.

"I'll accompany you as well if you want." he wrote on the notebook.
