The boy examined the ticket thoughtfully for a moment, a look of slight confusion appearing on his face.

"Hmm...this isn't right. Maybe, though...do you have another pocket? Or maybe it's in one of your shoes. They end up there sometimes. But then people don't always find them right away because of it. Maybe that's what happened."

He gave an apologetic look. "I'm sorry! You should have been able to get in with it, too. I'll have to tell him to be more careful next time. This still happens a little too often with some guests. Maybe you can exchange it for something nice later."

"It should be a silver-color one. With a picture of the moon on it, he said. I don't know for certain, but it's supposedly something like that. That's what I was told, anyway."

“Nope, no pockets. Only the bag.” She looks down at her feet for a moment when he mentions her shoes, then asks him, “Think I should check?” She’s completely willing to humor him, since she doesn’t have anything else on her schedule at the moment. Whatever this was about could turn out to be rather interesting, and she wasn’t one to pass up an opportunity on excitement.

“Hey, kid. Don’t get so worked up. Nothing to be sorry about. I didn’t even know I was some special guest. Buuut…” she waves her hand around a little, getting a slightly mischievous look, “I wouldn’t mind talking to this guy you keep mentioning, to clear everything up. And, not to brag, but I’m killer at a fire show. Is he in charge of the entire festival, or just recruiting new performers?”

It dawns on her she hasn’t introduced herself, and she doesn’t think she caught the boy’s name either. Well, he’d probably give it to her when he saw fit. No reason to skimp out on the politeness factor though, especially if someone really is expecting her. “I’m Kai, by the way. At least, that’s what my friends call me.”

Don was exaiming the boy carefully as he came from out of the blue asking endless questions. The way the kid talked didn't seem right. Don couldn't put his finger on it but every time the kid spoke it was like a trap being set and they had already played into it. He kept quite though since he could just be paranoid from what happened earlier withghe big guy at the bar. The more he thought of that moment the more weirder he felt.

He grasped at his head and took a deep breathe. His head was spontaneously ringing and thwn it happened again. "Kill the boy..." The voice said. Was Don becoming Schizophrenic. He kept hearing that odd voice at the worst of times and no one else around him seemed to react to the voice. "N-no..." He whispered to himself he didn't want the people he just met to think he was crazy. He tried his best to ignore the voice and turn his attention back to the boy and Kai's conversation.

The short boy let out a small gasp, eyes widening at the confession. "Are you a flame dancer, too? You should definitely go see him, then! I'm sure he'll be excited, too! He's getting ready for the midnight show, over at the really big tent. It's in the center, but if you keep going in that direction, you should be able to reach it eventually." Pointing off towards a section of the carnival that seemed to be even more busy with people and attractions, he nodded happily. "He's looking for all the help he can get, you see. It's hard to keep this place running properly. Remember to get there before midnight, though, or it might be difficult to get in. A lot of people go to see the show."

"Oh, and my name's Kido! It's nice to meet you, Kai! I hope I'll get to see you perform as well." Turning to the man next to her, the boy beamed up at him as well. "I wonder what act you'll be in, too. Make sure you have your ticket on hand. It's probably in your pocket, but he'll probably need to see it before you go on."

At first it had started as shouting, verbal abuse spewing forth from liquor loosened lips. They would hide in their room, curled up on their bed and holding hands as their mothers screams and their fathers shouts rang out through the house. Erion would pull Estelle close, emitting calmness and warmth until she fell asleep. When their mother died in a car accident their father turned his wrath on them. At first it was just shouting and yelling, occasionally he would get angry enough to chunk a beer bottle at the wall but never did he lay a hand on them. That is until one night he was especially drunk over having lost his job earlier that day. He had called the twins into the living room, raging at them. It was "all their fault" and they were "freaks of nature that should have never been born". It was nothing they had not heard before, their father's favorite past time was pointing out all their flaws and what made them different. The twins thought it to be another one of his rants and listened quietly. However, when their father didn't get a reaction from them he grabbed Estelle back-handed her across the face. Both of the twins cried out in shock and pain, the slap resonating between them. Before Erion really knew what was going on, rage filled him at the sight of his twin in their fathers grasp. He leaped forward and pulled the girl away, at the same time a bright light filled the room and they heard their father scream.

When the spots faded from their sight, they paled upon seeing nothing left of their father but charred remains. Erion didn't mean to use his lightening but he had just been so angry. They stood there still-stocked for a moment before the boy grabbed his sister's hand and tugged them up their shared room. Not needing any words, the twins grabbed their backpacks and began filling them with their meager belongings. Erion stuffed some money he had been earning doing things around the neighborhood and had hid from their father into the sack before slinging the pack over his shoulder. Estelle grabbed her violin that she had bought with her own money and slung the strap over her shoulder with her pack.

He grabbed Estelle's hand and tugged his twin downstairs and out the door with their pet wolf Oberon following after them, neither looking back at the corpse of their father. They raced down the street, not stopping until they were several streets away. Estelle leaned against her brother, form trembling slightly. "What are we going to do?" Erion wrapped his arms around her. "I'll figure something out." The girl nodded as they stood there for a few moments. Twinkling lights caught her eye and she headed towards it, tugging her brother behind her. They soon arrived at a carnival and Estelle looked up at her twin with bright eyes. Erion smiled as he withdrew some money from their pack and bought two tickets. Clasping hands, the twins stepped inside, both looking around in awe as neither had ever been to a carnival before.

Kai nods at the information imparted to her from the boy. "If nobody has any objections, I say we go there now. Get to the heart of all this."

The small boy clapped happily at the agreement. "Alright, then! I hope that I can see you later, then!"

Waving cheerfully at the two, he disappeared into the crowd again, skipping off to wherever he had planned to be going before.

It really was such a nice night. People were wandering around, admiring the fantastic scenery of the carnival as usual, the sky was nice and clear so the stars could be seen...and the cotton candy was delicious!

Humming contentedly as he munched on the fluffy treat, the small boy kept on his way through the myriad of colors and activity...

"...Another?"

The boy stopped at the sight of the twins, seeming to have stepped out of almost nowhere as he escaped the surrounding throng of revelers. There was something here...he could definitely feel it. Resuming an innocent grin once again, he bounced over to the two newcomers.

"Hei, hei! Are you new? You seem a bit lost."

Giving the same greeting gesture as before to the other couple he had encountered before.

"It's nice to see you! Are you special guests, too? You must have the tickets, right?"

"Watch your step!"

Eager to get through the crowd as quickly as possible, a tall figure in a decorative vest and an elegant mask wove through the various people with a small sealed crate in his arms. Unfortunately, this person eventually tripped, nearly dropping the crate as he fought to regain his balance. "Ah! That really won't do, will it? If any delicate cargo is damaged, I might not get to see the end~."

After carefully checking the crate, he started off again, considerably more cautious than before, though still eager to get through quickly.

As the odd individual left, a piece of paper fluttered to the ground, completely unnoticed by them. If one were to pick it up, they would notice what appeared to be a silvery image of a large tent with the moon behind it. Inside the moon sat a clock with both hands pointing to the top, and the lettering at the bottom mentioned the central courtyard. An act you'll never forget...

As a voice piped up from their right, the twins turned their heads at the same time and looked down, seeing a small boy smiling up at them asking if they were special guests. The siblings frowned. "Special guests?" They asked in unison. Erion reached into his pocket and pulled out the two tickets he had purchased but a few minutes earlier. He held them out for the young boys inspection. "Are these the tickets you speak of?" He asked curiously, the twins heads tilting to the right at the same time. Some people may find it strange that the twins always seem in perfect synchronization but to the brother and sister it is the most normal thing in the world.

The short boy leaned forward with an expectant look, carefully scrutinizing the tickets. "Hmm...Oh, good! They gave you the right ones! Look!" Carefully taking one, he flipped it twice quickly in his hand to reveal a ticket of similar size and shape, though the first one seemed to have vanished. Printed carefully among the swirling design lay an image of the moon and a series of strange lettering, though any actual words were difficult to make out.

With a proud expression, he handed back the newly-changed ticket. "There we go! Here, keep it safe; you'll need this later. Especially if you're going to the show at midnight. I can fix the other one, too, if you like! They should really both look the same when you show him."
