Throughout the ride, Mithias had remained quiet. His original questions had been lost in the mayhem of driving through ghoul-covered chaos. He let the squad speak amongst themselves to coordinate their escape, and eventually, the bunch arrived at some kind of base.
The truck doors opened up and everyone got out. Mithias could feel their wary eyes upon him, and so he remained passive until spoken to. Finally, he stood up and hopped out of the vehicle. Moving slowly, he fastened his weapons to his sides in some kind of a quick-release belt contraption. Unreal golden eyes looked at Katya as he lifted his head and took down his hood. Immediately, she was struck by a moment of dejavou. The eyes looked like they belonged on an animal, maybe an owl or eagle or wolf, and she knew she had seen that somewhere, long ago.
Seeing her expression, Mithias decided to confirm her suspicions. "Hello Katya."
He scanned around to the others. Florida had left, but in the base, there were many other people around, most of which had not realized what was standing in their base with them. After taking a moment to let any sense of alarm recede, Mithias began speaking again. He knew how to move slowly and imitate humans enough to not scare them in his presence. "You know me as the vampire Mithias. It's been a long time." At least, to a human it would have been a long time. "I have some information for you. I was among the Purge in secret when this zombie attack began, and I firmly believe they are not responsible for it. I know the containers that released the zombies all over the country bore their mark, but sending a legion of undead upon humanity is not their style. As much as I would love to see them destroyed, the truth is, they were framed." He blinked. "Now who would want to frame the Purge?" he paused a moment. "A vampire, Katya. I have no doubt that there is a powerful vampire behind this massive attack, and I fear what else he or she is capable of."
He continued as that information soaked in. "You must forgive me for my long absence. I have returned my attention to present times, but I unfortunately can do nothing without a network and intelligence to rely upon. I wish to protect humanity from such monsters. You see, such heartless death is not the intended role of a vampire, it is an abomination of our purpose and unworthy of our gifts. Please let me help you."
