[Monday - 9:30 am]

Headmaster Sin’chi Hajime stood next to his large window in his office. He could hear the birds outside chirping and the light of the bright sun filling his office with happiness. This energized him as well since he is a follower of the Hikari, martial artists who follow the path of the light. But the expression on his face was not a delightful one. There was something troubling him that he found difficult to express to others. While staring out of the window, there was one particular spot that he usually visits, outside of the school located near the front entrance was a monument that was built a century ago. The monument was an anomaly to many of the students and instructors, which was a good thing to him because the people did not need to know the truth about its creation. If they did…he feared the worst would happen.

Suddenly, the bells of the school began ringing like a loud gong. The monks who were in charge of the gongs slammed their wooden sticks against several of them on the tallest towers that were located in all four corners of the school’s perimeter. These towers also served as lookouts, with scopes that could see far and wide. When he heard this, Sin’chi knew that his time as the new headmaster of Mikado Daigaku had begun. He has received much respect from others, but today marks the day he would actually participate as being the headmaster. Previously, before school started he was writing out the rules of the school and what needed to be done. He was pushing and signing an endless amount of papers and was only able to rest for one night. He placed his left hand on top of the hilt of one of his katanas’ that was held at his waist under his sash. He turned around as one of the monks entered through a dojo styled sliding door. The monk bowed in respect.

“Hajime-san, one of the homerooms is in the need of assistance. The other homerooms will be instructed by other assistants. However, this room has no one else who has the means to attend. We ask if you could come and help. I can escort you there.” the monk finished.

Sin’chi raised his eyebrow and nodded his head without turning away from the window. The monk bowed and waited.

It is the first day of school and we already have a shortage of instructors and teaching assistants, He thought to himself.

After pausing for a brief moment, he turned around and followed the monk. He was led to an empty room with large windows aligned on the left wall, a huge dark green chalk board, and four rows with five desks each.

“The students will be arriving shortly, sensei.” The monk said again.

Sin’chi took a piece of chalk and wrote on the huge chalk board, “Headmaster Sin’chi Hajime, Homeroom Class #4. Afterwards, he sat down at the desk and waited for the students to enter and took a deep sigh then closed his eyes.

Amy walked into class with a slight aura of trepidation about her at being here. A school like this, focused on the martial arts, set her on edge like little else could. This owed, primarily, to the massive mix of styles and the morality behind those who wielded them. She could almost guarantee some of the people here were, put simply, berserkers who just wanted a fight. That said, she made her way to her seat and sat down quietly anyway, tapping her fingernails on the desk nervously. Looking up, she noted a man was already here and, upon checking the board, she quickly realized this was none other than the headmaster of the school, which only set her further on edge. Why was he here? Was she in some kind of class for problem students? Maybe it was the opposite and this was an honors class meant for people the headmaster himself had selected? The very idea was nerve wracking, either way, and she sighed to herself at that. Being so nervous was out of character for her, but it was the first day of school so she supposed that was to be expected.

Her own attire very much resembled the headmaster's own, but her clothing was a more traditional white gi, tied with a simple belt. It was rather unconventional to not wear a belt signalling one's skill level, but she figured that it was best to be cautious for her first few days here. Flicking some of her hair out of her eyes, she began to toy with the grip to one of her fighting knives to pass the time. The weapons hadn't ever bit flesh, at least not in earnest, and so were fairly easy to keep clean. They shone with a silver gleam that indicated years of careful tending, never being allowed to lapse into dis-repair. Fully drawing them, she lay both knifes on her desk in a cross shape. This way she could draw both quickly if need be, but also served as an easy way of telegraphing to the others that entered what she used to fight. That said, she couldn't just keep sitting here quietly, and eventually voice "Umm, Kouchou, are you going to be our teacher for the year?"

Sin’chi did not realize that someone else had entered the room while his eyes were closed. Until he heard someone ask if he was going to be their teacher for the rest of the year. Sin’chi thought about this, because there were many things to consider at that point. The school needed more teachers and it is likely they would find a permanent teacher for homeroom. But her question just adds more work for Sin’chi to do. Not only would be instructing homeroom be a lot but also handling business that has to run the school itself. Another added weight to his mental stability was keeping people from learning of the “forbidden spell” that was used to open the portal outside. This school was built on the foundation of ruling elite of the Kurai but a lot of the students did not know that. To some it was a myth, to others it was a true story. Regardless, as a carrier of the forbidden spell, it was his job from withholding that knowledge to others…though he knew there were many who were researching it. Perhaps the truth can turn up elsewhere…in which case…he would have to fight against.

If the portal was to open, this entire school and the rest of the city would be consumed in total war between the light and the darkness. The skies would be pitching black with rays of light shining through the creases, normal civilians who have not received proper mental training would fall into a state of despair and agony, and the streets would be filled with dead souls fighting without remorse if they mistakenly attacked a civilian. People would have to go into hiding if that portal opened…which was why it was important to keep it closed. He came upon the forbidden spell from his father who is also a part of ancient Hikari master, Junichi Saburo’s bloodline. The spell was passed down for generations in his family in secret, putting it into the hands of new guardians. Old Hikari masters in the ancient times called the spell bearer a vanguard which is the title that was granted upon Sin’chi. In this new society both Kurai and Hikari users do not know of what happened generations ago…then again…people can surprise you with what they know.

It was almost as if Sin’chi was in a day dream when the young girl asked him that question…which he calmly shook his head and smiled at her then said…

“Ah…welcome. Yes, I will be your teacher for the time being until we can get a replacement.” He said as he rose to his feet.

He walked over to one of the windows of the side of the room waiting for the others to arrive.

“And your name is?” he finished.

Hanzõ entered the schoolgrounds. They were by now familiar to him, he had been walking around there in the nighttime for the past few days, hiding from curious eyes. But now it was daytime and there were others. He was walking towards the homeroom, taking mental notes about others and pushing past them when they were walking too slow for his taste. But he did not shove or move anyone, he just sort of slid past them in all peace, avoiding conflict for now. He was already wearing his Karate Gi for the school and the chain around his waist rests there without a sound as he steps inside just as quietly, his bare feet causing little to no sound at all. There were already people inside, and the headmaster, a the board said, was addressing a student already. That was fast. He took a seat and sat in place completely still with that small smile on his lips, waiting and listening for the sounds of living around him, now this is more what felt like home so far.

The morning was nice. A little too nice, unfortunately. Kaori had woken up early to get ready and wander around for a bit, get a feel for the grounds. She wore her normal clothes rather than a gi, for comfort's sake, and for the a fact that the first day was home room and she doubted that there'd be any fighting or actual training ons the first day, and even if there were, she could move as easily in these as she could in a gi. But back to before. It was an unfortunately nice morning because the girl thought it would be nice to sit under the shade of a tree for a few moments to relax, and ended up falling back to sleep.

The reason she woke up is a mystery, all she knows is that her legs jerked in a. Motion like she was jumping, startling herself awake. Color rose to her cheeks and she glanced around to make sure that no one had seen, then got to her feet, pursed off her pants, and began hurrying towards the building. She was probably late, but hey, what would the teacher do? She entered just after that Hanzõ character did, looking tired and confused, then flopped down at a seat further away from the rest, folding her arms into the desk and resting her chin on them, barely holding her eyes open. Still in a tired daze, she hadn't noticed that the man at the head of the class was the headmaster, and so she showed little respect or reverence when she turned her gaze onto him and gave a slow "Hello." It was gonna be a long day.

[Day 1 - Monday - 9:45 am]

When Sin’chi asked for Amy’s name that was when a few others had entered the classroom. The first fresh face gave Hajime a slight suspense; he was quiet…and didn’t say anything at all. Then again waking up early in the morning to attend school wasn’t necessarily a wonderful thing to young faces. He decided to shake off the thoughts and acknowledged the presence of another face as well, Kaori. She wore some unusual attire but Hajime knows that everyone has their own style in clothing. He turned back around to the window and waited for Amy’s answer. But then suddenly something clicked in his mind. As he stared at the monument that was partially covered by the top of a tree from his point of view, a few dark images appeared in his mind; as if he got pulled into an instant nightmare. But that was Hajime in a nutshell. He has always had a look on his face as if he became disturbed or haunted by something. While working at the bakery a while back, the ones he worked with were intimidated by his focused expressions for they knew that something was wrong with him when they saw him. However, Hajime was the first to deny any rumor of him. He did not mention to anyone what exactly was wrong with him but before attending school he could remember his father speaking.

“As a carrier of the Kinji Raremashita Superu (Japanese for ‘Forbidden Spell’) it would be apparent to have constant prophecies…which were the only negative drawback the carrier would have. You are known as the Vanguard and with every new vanguard come an entire new set of challenges.” His father once said.

Ah…so that was why he kept having constant visions. Momentarily, he thought about what could happen. Suddenly, the school was transformed into a dark cathedral filled with ancient dead spirits fighting out in the courtyard. This was the look of the old school when ancient Kurai master, Akihiko Hisashi ruled. He visualized himself, Hanzo, Amy, and Kaori standing in the middle under the dark purple skies. Akihiko stepped down from the steps and raised his katana, wearing his armor and helmet.

“The return is inevitable, Vanguard. You and your students will bow before the darkness!” he heard Akihiko yell.

Suddenly, he snapped out of it and took a gasp before taking a few steps back placing his hand on his desk to recover himself. He panted a bit but tried to hide it from the class. He cleared his throat.

After taking the time to clear his head, he looked up at the class.

“I see we have…new faces…” he said a bit shaken up. “Give me your names while we wait for the others to arrive…” he finished and took a breath before sitting down in his desk.

Hitomi strode toward the school, appearing as if she were in a dream. Her eyes were closed as there was no point in her using them anyway, and her mouth was curled into a slight, seemingly content, smile. She weaved her way through the mass of people outside, and stepped into the hallway that would lead to her homeroom. She had rehearsed the steps in her head dozens of times, and with the help of her shadows to 'feel' the way for her, she made it into the room without any issues. When she got to the doorway, she stopped, as she could almost feel the energy coming form the inhabitants of the room. There were quite a few, Hikari and Kurai...and there was one especially powerful one toward what she assumed to be the front of the room. She inhaled sharply; she realized that she was in the presence of the headmaster himself! A powerful aura surrounded the figure, it could be no one else. She bowed her head toward him, not even sure that he'd seen her, then she took a seat near the front of the classroom.

She had heard much about the headmaster from her father, who had once studied at the academy. The headmaster was young, younger than Hitomi's father by a great deal. He was handsome, slow to anger, and quite skilled. She put her hands on the desk, and held them as she faced straight forward. Inside, she was almost giddy; she couldn't believe that she was in the presence of the headmaster. Would he be teaching them? That would be amazing, to learn from the very best!

Then, she heard him speak: “Give me your names while we wait for the others to arrive…”

This being the first time she ever heard him, she made absolutely certain that she would be able to recognize his voice at any given time. She let the words float in her mind for a good, long time. His voice was a bit shaky, which she thought was unusual for someone who, as her father put it, 'annihilated everyone in his path', but there was also some authority behind his words. Perhaps he just wasn't used to speaking in public?

She then heard him exhale, and the sound of a chair sliding on the floor, and a slight creak telling her that he had seated himself. It was at this point that she finally decided to speak:

"Headmaster. I am Hitomi Matsumoto. It is my sincerest pleasure to be in your presence."

The pathway had led towards the school and Yoshito Nambu stood outside the academy, still as could be with one solid form as his eyes gazed upon the exterior. A breeze rolled by and he curled his toes within the sandals he had on as it ruffled his shirt and past. He had slept early that night, although he still almost felt as if he was tired. Restless, but in the kind of way that made him feel bored, not fatigued. With little hesitation he strode forth, and proceeded into the building with a satchel that slung over his shoulder and rode down across his torso; steady to his side as he walked. It did not waver, and neither did he. It seemed odd. The closest thing he had been to an academy centered around what he assumed merciless combat was the same temple he spent six years of training at. Even then, he was alone. Who would he see? It didn't make Yoshito nervous not to know. It could be anybody. Perhaps he would find them alike those who he had went to school with. He could even make a friend or two. Pfft. The idea made Yoshito laugh a little bit. It was only until after he had realized that the chuckle released was out loud, though it wasn't like he cared.

By this time Yoshito had made his way into the same corridor that homeroom was placed. He did not think, but only moved towards the doorway at around 9:45 when he passed through the entrance. Immediately the instructor had caught his eye. Yoshito took a moment to inspect this older figure and realized his attire had displayed something of a higher individual. This must have been the headmaster. He's heard of him before, and how much of an important person he was supposed to be. It seemed strange that he was in a classroom about this manner, so Yoshito only assumed it had been temporary. Yoshito made the first move to bow to the headmaster, as many times as he had done it before, it was routine.

"Good evening." Yoshito's voice dragged on. It was deeper for his age, and you could spot a hint of laziness in his tone if you listened close enough, though he did not mean anything else but the utmost respect. With this, he turned towards the rest of the class from the corner of the room and scanned over the rest of his classmates quickly. Yoshito stuck out like a pimple on a pubescent teenagers forehead. Most of the fellow students within the room looked to be much older than he was, as mild of a shock as it was, this didn't cause him to fear in the least. There he walked to the middle row of desks amongst the classroom, all 5'3" of his thirteen year old stature. Perhaps one of the youngest in the room pulled out his seat from the desk and planted himself towards it. Yoshito's bag was brought down off his side, and a book was removed from within the leather package. With this, he let out a sigh and began to balance his head on the palm of his hand, rolling the flesh along his face upwards as his eyes glued themselves onto each line of the book before him.

Yaozu Au-Yeung yawned as he gave a satisfying, overhead stretch while walking down the meticulous path that snaked and spiraled around the temples's campus. There was a gentle breeze this morning that made the young martial artist's steps linger that much longer, as he wanted to enjoy the crispness of the air with his walk to his first day of class. Good thing he woke up earlier than usual, as he would have definitely sacrificed a few minutes of class just to bathe in the energizing kiss of the wind. Taking in a deep breathe, Yaozu closed his eyes and enjoyed the rest of the stroll.

Within tranquil minutes, he was in front of the classroom. Sharp eyebrows perked up as he casually peered inside, noticing THE Sin'chi Hajime hovering over the lecturer's desk. Though it didn't quite surprise him, Yao was still met with a flutter of excitement as he straightened his posture and stepped inside the homeroom. Being taught by the legendary martial artist of his time? The boy was glad he was admitted to this temple to hone his skills.

Upon entering, Yaozu noticed that some of his peers had already arrived. He eyed them all warily, icy blue eyes lighting up with intrigue. So these are the fighters that he got grouped up with. With one look, he could tell that these are natural martial artists who are striving for the same thing as he was ; to become one of the top. They all looked strong indeed. Good.

Satisfied with what he's seeing so far, Yaozu flashed his classmates a charming half-smile, before turning and bowing formerly to his instructor. "Yaozu Al-Yeung, student of Class #4. Nice to meet you, sir, and I'm honored that you'd have me as a pupil."

(Flashback)
“You have terrible hand and eye coordination.” a much younger Hajime said.

He was facing an opponent out on the school grounds in the garden area. His opponent was a man with a height of 5’6 who weighed 250 Ibs. The man had a bald head, shirt off, and the bottom half of a gi around his lower body with sandals. He held a long katana in both hands, while Sin’chi stood with his current attire dual-wielding his two katanas. His right hand held his katana backward, the length of the blade stretching past his back, while his left hand held his katana normally, the length of the blade stretching past his chest. Hajime had a much focused look on his eyes, while the man he faced seemed a bit cocky. He was one of the candidates who applied for the headmaster position…and this was their final battle. The victor would definitely become headmaster of Mikado Daigaku.

“You are pretty fast, Hajime-san! But your technique is flawed as well! Heeyah!” the man yelled, running quickly at Hajime.

When he got in close, the man swung his katana diagonally from top left to bottom right toward Sin’chi’s chest. Hajime squinted his eyes and spun his body backward. When he landed he saw that the man held his katana downward when he swung. Sin’chi brought his left foot forward and used it as a leverage to kick off of the ground to leap at the man in front of him. When he came close, he brought his right hand around while swinging his body toward his right as well. The backward held katana in his right hand came slashing down toward the man’s upper torso; while his body was in spinning momentum, he also prepared to use his left hand which held one katana normally. The left hand came swinging around as well once his right sword brushed past the man’s chest slicing him clean. The left sword sliced down the same wound, forcing the man to back ward holding his chest.

When Hajime stopped, his back faced the man. Hajime narrowed his eyes at the ground, hearing the man yell in utter pain.

“Y-you…got m-me…” he said before he collapsed.

Sin’chi heard a loud thud when the man hit the ground. The spectators around them looked in astonishment at Sin’chi’s skill and speed. Suddenly another man appeared before Sin’chi.

“You’ve passed the headmaster test. Congratulations, Hajime-sensei.” He said.

Afterwards, everyone in the area bowed in respect to Sin’chi…but he wasn’t feeling it all too well. Instead of enjoying that moment, he put his swords back in their sheaths and simply walked away from them all.
(Flashback end)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Day 1 - Monday - 9:55 am]

Hajime looked around and saw other faces enter the room. They all looked like they were prepared for class and one of the girls even announced her name…Hitomi Matsumoto. He was proud there were some who were not nervous about introducing themselves. As he gazed upon them all he sensed how much strength they carried. He could sense this by using his energy which is a mandatory skill that all students must learn. Focusing your energy is very important before you graduate from the school. The energy can do many things to your body. It can enhance your speed, allow you to walk and run on walls, water, and it can help you keep focus of your abilities further enhancing their power. When everyone sat down he began speaking.

“Welcome to Mikado Daigaku. I am headmaster, Sin’chi Hajime and it appears that I will be your homeroom instructor for the rest of the year.” He said as he reached down to pick up a stack of packets.

“In my hand are packets that are crucial to your arrival here at the school. I will pass the packets out according to the names.” He said.

He went down each row of desks handing them their packets.

“These packets offer information about the school as well as your dormitories in where you will be staying.”
(To keep our cast close together, we will reside in the co-ed building of the dorms.)

“Now that is finished. I want to ask you all something and I want some volunteers to raise their hand. How efficient are you in honing your energy?” he asked and waited.

Just as Amy was about to offer a response to the Headmaster's question, she watched people flow into the room, a few others that each pinged her interest. The first seemed cocky, but observant, the worst kind of cocky if you asked her. An overconfident man who could back it up was generally the worst, and on a more superficial level that chain belt wasn't the most friendly of markers. The second seemed sleepy, though that was likely an understatement, and struck her as the lazy type. She supposed, however, if she was in this school she had to have talent of some form, so clearly she was skilled in some martial arts of some type. The third was a girl with a sword, and she seemed very earnest when it came to meeting their headmaster. An admirable trait she supposed, though she wasn't sure what it was, something about the girl seemed off, not necessarily in a bad way, but in a way that threw her for a trip. The next was short but had a fairly deep voice, a rather interesting combination. He seemed an alright sort based on her incredibly limited perception of him. The last was equally respectful, though the way he eyed them was interesting, like a soldier eyeing his opponent, not a student seeing his classmates.

In the immediate aftermath, she stood up from her chair and gave a short bow to the headmaster, saying "Sorry it took me so long to respond, I didn't wish to interrupt anyone, Kouchou. I am Amy Lirith, and I came from a long way away from here in order to study at this academy. I look forward to learning from you so I can better protect the weak in this world." At that, she sat back down to relax until class started. As it turned out, however, it wasn't very long at all before class started. Indeed, almost as soon as she sat down, he gave a quick introduction and began handing out packets he said would be important. When she received hers she immediately leafed through it, picking out important information, and resolved to do a more thorough inspection later. The man proceeded to ask how skilled the students were in schooling their energy and, eager to begin the learning process, Amy raised her hand, saying "I'm good at controlling my energy, Kouchou." It was true as well, since her main power was the ability to move her energy from herself to others and back again, as well as using it to strengthen her speed when she was facing strong opponents, she had to be very good at that technique, and so she practiced it extensively.

Outside looked delightful. Yoshito almost wished he was out there again as he noticed the sun began to grow to its peak. He could still remember the smells from outside. Yoshito's sensei used to tell him that it was important to admire those things; what was around you. He almost wish he had got up earlier, but the idea made him cringe on the inside. There wasn't much attention given to those entering the classroom. Regardless, he was very aware of his surroundings and continued taking notes mentally for each person entering the classroom. Just as the last of the bunch came in, it was then one girl stood up from within the crowd and began to introduce herself. There was always that one person. It was apparent everyone else fell into a shy bunch, but he assumed truthfully no one really cared enough. As the Headmaster Sin'Chi Hajime spoke, he closed his book at once and left it at the side of his desk again. He had always been a good listener when taking instructions at the temple, he just came off in a different way. The Headmaster informed his pupils about certain packages that all students would receive. Each one supplied information about the academy and every individuals dorm room. The first part was always a slow process. For the time being, Yoshito did not bother to open his packet as it seemed a class discussion was starting.

“Now that is finished. I want to ask you all something and I want some volunteers to raise their hand. How efficient are you in honing your energy?” said the Headmaster. Simple enough. Of course it was the girl who had risen before that was the first one to speak. After she proceeded, Yoshito followed up after her, figuring nobody else would have; raising his hand at a casual pace.

"I am confident in my ability to utilize the energy I harness. However, I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses." his tone was very serious, yet it sounded unenthusiastic. Child-like, but centered; mature for his age. Yoshito spent time learning self-control and confidence. Learning his limitations and finding where he truly shined. This being said, he was in no way cocky. That attitude itself was something he disliked. He didn't come here because he was a master, it was just the opposite. It was evident that Yoshito was young, and he knew this, but that didn't matter to him. As he finished speaking, Yoshito wondered about the paths chosen in the room. He began to feel them faintly, and it was figured that only those that walk with the light have volunteered themselves to answer. No matter. It was only two people, but he was interested in seeing what the rest of them had to say.

Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap! thought Yoshino Hikaru as he rushed to get his standard gi on.

Behold, dear readers, one of the fools -if not THE fool- of this story: Yoshino Hikaru. As one can tell, his day was not off to a good start. He overslept, and now he's paying for it. He had already resigned himself to the fact that he was going to be late, but if he was going to be late, he was going to make sure that was absent from the class for the least amount of time possible! So he did what any normal teenager would do...He rushed.

He was running over to his class room with his half his gi on, and the other half flapping like a flag as he desperately tried to reach his arm through it while running. There were very few people he had to dodge as he ran past them. Maybe they were students, maybe they faculty, but at the moment, they were just obstacles. One type of two that appeared just to keep him from getting into that classroom. The other obstacle was anything that the thin, but sturdy and strong rope, tied around his arm could catch onto. There were a few times where he had been yanked on the arm, because the thing snagged on something.

Still, he eventually made it to the entrance of the classroom. Breathing heavily for running without an intended break left him out of breath. He took the time to catch that breath, while fixing his gi. Hikaru listened closely to the inside of the classroom, and found that he was correct. He was late, and they had started without him.

With a sigh, Hikaru made himself known to his classmates and teacher. He scanned the room to get a good look at his classmates and teacher. His almost eerily small pupils darted around from student to student. It was just as he suspected. Some of the most gifted and talked about students were in this class, and everyone else was just as determined as they were to become the best.

It was actually kind of disappointing that he was alone in the determination department, but Hikaru showed no sign of that disappointment. Instead, he moved on. He felt it was better just to ignore such feelings until class was over.

He looked over to the teacher, and found that this guy seemed skilled. A lot more serious about doing a task than the other teachers he ran past. This one also looked...familiar. Hikaru couldn't quite put his finger on it, but this teacher seemed VERY familiar.

...Oh well. No sense in wasting time staring at a guy.

Hikaru bowed his head and proceeded to say,

"Apologies, sensei! I have no excuse for being late!"

[Day 1 - Monday - 10:00 am]

Sin’chi realized the other students who were late and this disappointed him. If one was to arrive late to a battle field, the enemy has already won. He turned at Yoshino and shook his head, waiting for him to take his seat. Afterwards, he turned his attention back to Amy who mentioned how well she could control her energy. This is a good a sign because confidence can also win battles…but if used incorrectly it can also determine your defeat. Then Yoshito mentioned how well he could control his energy as well and also mentioned that he knew his strengths and weaknesses, which was also good. Hajime smirked at them all and said…

“It is good that you all know your energy well, but one cannot win battles if they cannot keep their energy under control for long periods of time. Amy and Yoshito both claim they have their energy in tight format, very well. I will show you something and I want everyone to come up to the front of the room and stand side by side and perform what I am about to show you one by one.” He finished.

Standing at the front of the room Hajime closed his eyes for a bit. His body was relaxed and his muscles were not tense. Immediately after opening his eyes, there was a bright light that became visible through his pupils but it wasn’t enough to blind them. Suddenly, his body began to show a light blue aura that circled around him. Turning around with his back to the class, he walked to the wall that possessed the chalk board and placed his right foot on the board. Seconds later he began walking on the wall and on the ceiling while keeping his posture calm. He walked among the ceiling in the middle of the row of desks, right above everyone in the classroom and crossed his arms while smirking. The aura that was around his body was still there but his eyes stopped shining with light. His dark brown ponytail hung loosely pointing down toward them.

“Energy is not something that should be considered third party; it is something that should be meshed within your body. Your energy is like a second sense rather than a tool to be used. Amy, Yoshito and everyone.” He said before cutting himself off.

He back flipped from the ceiling until he landed graciously one top of one of the empty desks. When he flipped from the ceiling it almost seemed as if his body was floating rather than falling. Hopping off the desk he walked back to the front of the room, calming the aura that was around him. Hajime continued his speech.

“Come to the front of the classroom and stand side by side. I will teach you the proper positioning before you demonstrate your energy. Once you demonstrate your energy I want you all to do as I did and stick to the ceiling.” He finished and waited.

(Depending on your path, your aura will either by light blue - Hikari, or dark purple - Kurai.)

Kaori must have dozed off their for a minute or two. By the time she'd raised her head, yawned, and was prepared to give her name as she was asked with everyone else, a horde of people began storming through the doorway to meet with them. A small groan came from the girl, who flopped her forehead down on the desk loud enough for a heavy thunk! to be heard. As the rest introduced themselves, she made mental notes of their names, and only briefly looked at their appearances. She hadn't even looked at the two who were already there. One looked like he was just trying to be depressed, what with the ratty grey gi and chain belt. Her gaze slowly turned to the girl ahead of her, who looked both unassuming and unintimidating, even with the knives placed on the desk. It would have been smarter to keep them on her, or at least partially hidden. Kaori huffed, then turned her attention to the girl with the sword. Everyone coming in and showing off today, was it? Turned the attention off of her so she could nap, so that was all that mattered. Then came the boy. Young, deep voiced, apparently liked to read and spoke shortly. Clearly it was someone who was either overconfident, or someone who just didn't give a rat's ass. Either way, he'd learn the ropes from someone. Not her, but someone. The next one to come in was strangely plain and boring looking compared to the rest. Which made him odd in and of itself.

The teacher - who turned out to be the headmaster - gave them some packets to find out where they would be sleeping, and asked something about how well they could use their power. She couldn't even get a chance to do anything as everyone kept talking and talking and interrupting until she once again thumped her head against the desk. When she looked up, not only was yet another one of them running in to class - extremely late, mind him - but the teacher was doing something else too. And now he was on the ceiling with a glowing aura, and then back on the ground and challenging all of them to do it.

She muttered something indistinct and unflattering, then stood from her seat and walked slowly towards the wall. The trick was a simple one, a parlor trick as the monks would tell her, but she wasn't going to do it on the first try. She slowly built up a small bit of her energy, enough to where she wasn't even growing an aura, and began trying to balance on the wall, or at least get a grip on it with her foot. At first, her foot kept sliding off, causing her to squint and frown. After a few seconds, she finally stuck, and was able to get her other leg off the ground and on to the wall. Unfortunately, balance was not her strong suit, and so she tilted back towards the floor and bumped her head on the ground, causing her to lose focus and drop the rest of the way. Color went right to her face, and what little power she had shown went away quickly. Kaori stood, brushed herself off, cleared her throat, and moved away from the wall quickly while the others were making their attempts. She'd try again in a little bit.

“Well this is hardly a good first impression,” Yori murmured to himself as he tightened the belt around the school issued gi. Despite his words, he seemed to be in little hurry, taking his time to slip on his sandals and actually leave the transit room. He didn’t leave normally either being well aware the secretary for the building would probably give him a mouthful. Instead, he popped open the window and weathered the second floor drop with ease.

As he brushed himself off and stood, Yori scratched the back of his head at the sight of his temporary room’s open window. “Ah, I’ll probably get warned for that…” A concern for a later time he supposed as his focus at the moment was the class he was already late for. With a good idea of the Academy’s layout already in mind, he closed his eyes for a moment to find his position, the classroom, and how he would get from A to B.

Unsurprisingly, the Academy’s grounds were mostly empty at this time with the majority of students and staff in class. He sort of expected some staff members to patrol the school grounds, but was pleasantly surprised that he managed an uninterrupted jog to where the classrooms were located. The only problem was that he didn’t really have an idea of which classroom out of the numerous was supposed to be #4. Beyond the tidbit that their homeroom teacher had yet to be assigned as of yesterday, Yori figured he would just have to take a peek here and there to figure things out.

Evidently his luck would shine through as the first window he tried proved to the correct room. His eyes strayed to the front of the classroom and the blackboard, reading what was written. ‘Huh… did not expect that,’ he thought to himself because honestly there was something a bit off with the Headmaster acting as a substitute. Nonetheless, he sat onto the window sill, gave his sandals a good tap to get the dirt and dust off, and swung into the classroom. With a wave, grin, and shallow bow, Yori said, “Apologies for my tardiness Headmaster. Or would sensei be more appropriate?” He didn’t bother to wait for a response before he raised his head and looked at the other students that would be his classmates for the year; a varied bunch to be certain at first glance.

Yaozu raised an eyebrow, idly filing through the packet with his slender fingers, but his focus was to the front of the class. He gave a small whistle as he witnessed the beautiful glow of celestial light flooding the Headmaster as he called for his energy into a manifested form. So this is the aura of the path of light - compared to Yaozu's, it was quite beautiful and serene. The soft-blue glow was so elegant, yet held an edge of dignified power. The young martial artist gave an enthusiastic as the demonstration ended, dropping the packet to his desk and immediately standing upright. As the class shuffled about to their instructor's orders, he himself strode to the wall with eagerness, wanting to be the one of the firsts to partake in this interesting test.

Unfortunately, he came in second as there was already a girl who began the assessment by pushing her energy outward, showing the class and the Headmaster the extent of her control over her it. Yaozu grinned, leaning in with anticipation. He was excited to see what sort of strength his classmates held. But as he continued to watch, his mouth twitched into a disappointed frown. Just as stoic as she was, nothing really happened with her aura as she took her first steps on the wall. In fact, it was quite sloppy to watch and he ended up giving a small sigh when she fell.

Ah well. Everyone has their off days, he assumed. Yao gave a small shrug as his classmate hurriedly brushed herself off and made room for the others.

And so it was his turn. Standing by his sensei as instructed, Yaozu straightened his posture and relaxed the tension that gripped his hardened body with a long and slow exhale of a deep breath. As the stressful air left his body, his muscles unwinded naturally - his fist loosened, his shoulders slouched, his chin tilting slightly towards his chest in a very reposed manner. Even his sharp eyes paled considerably, the usual bright ice shading into a steely blue. And just as the last wisp of breath left his slightly-open mouth, his energy began to substantiate.

At first, it was just but a hazy warping of purple tendrils that rose from his body. But as Yaozu entered a deeper state of focus, the aura enhanced considerably and his energy roared as the tendrils flared up. Unlike the elegance of Hikari, Kurai burned raw. It wrapped around the young martial artist like licking flames, a passionate inferno of the boy's iron will. He made it burn as brightly and strongly as possible. Deep in his heart, he knew he may not be the strongest here. But even, he wanted everyone here to understand how serious he was in becoming number one. And so his aura glowed fiercely, snapping out with pride. When he was finally ready, Yao took his first steps towards the wall. Though confident as he was, he still hesitated as he approached the wall with a foot. But he steeled on, and with shaky first steps, he ascended towards the ceiling, gaining balance quickly with each step. When he was overhead, he walked around a few times, testing out his own capabilities and limitations. He even dared to make a jump, albeit tiny as it was, and was satisfied when his aura snapped him back to the ceiling as if he were making a normal jump on the ground.

When all was done, he began to internalize his energy. Yao's eyes lit up again to it's normal blue as he grinned at his sensei and classmate before dismounting from the ceiling and back onto the ground. He landed shakily, on one knee and a hand, but immediately stood up and laughed in amusement. "Well that was quite fun," he mused before stepping aside and letting another fellow classmate try.

Hanzõ approached the Headmaster after others were done with him and he himself was done with his small presentation. That way, he could have his attention to himself, and the others as well. He stops before him, few steps away and looks him dead in the eye before bowing down, deep enough bow for it to be respective, but not too deep to make it ridicolously over the top, it was a flawless bow.

"Greetings Headmaster." He spoke dryly and straightened himself, smiling and still looking him in the eyes, his pupils focusing on his."I am Okihika Hanzõ. And before we begin, there is one, simple matter we will need to take care of. You do not treat me like A student. You will treat me like THE, student. There will be no pointless questions asked from me. There will be no pointless questions answered by me. If I deem something important, it is very, important. That is between you and me, Headmaster." He turns and looks over the rest of the class slowly."As for the rest of you, I did not come here to set an example, not for making friends. It is for the best if you keep your good distance from me. IF, however someone decides not to do such a thing, I will take no action. At all. Do not even try to think of me as a hero or a leader to look up at. I am the student of this establishment."

He smiles softly at the class and then returns to his seat with calm and calculated matter, and upon sitting down he lets out one, single small cough and closes his eyes then, caring a little if he caused discuss, fuss or any reaction at all. His palms land on his knees and he shuts himself from the rest of the classroom for now, even when the others had already moved in front of the classroom as the Headmaster had told them to.

Hajime saw Kaori’s attempt at manifesting her energy well enough to be able to walk on other surfaces and failed. He said to her.

“Kaori, you did not try hard enough. Your body was not relaxed well enough and your mental state was not in a position to succeed. In battle, you would lose definitely. Try again.” He said to her.

Then he watched as yet another new student arrived though this disappointed him he instead had Yori come up and perform what he instructed the class to do. He briefly gave Yori a summary of what he wanted him to do.

But it was astounding watching Yaozu hone his energy. Out of all the students he has seen before, he was the only one who was able to produce a visible aura on the first try. There was a lot of potential with this one.

Sadly…he could not say the same about Hanzo. As the boy came up to him and spoke, Hajime saw something within the boy’s eyes that did not seem pleasant. He seemed overly confident at the most and he kept to himself most of the time.

Hmmm…he thought.

He walked over to Hanzo after he sat down and said…

“Then you must leave. I will not tolerate incompetence. You are here to learn, are you not? If you are not, then why are you here? Straighten up…or leave.” He finally said, narrowing his eyes into the boy’s pupils without blinking.

"Wow, this teacher's a strict one...Doesn't really help that he didn't explain how to do this thing before doing it", muttered Hikaru.

The technique, or whatever this was supposed to be, was much easier seen than done for Hikaru. All he saw was a guy walking on the wall, and then the ceiling. He had some idea of how to something. For a moment, he just continued to stare at the wall. He had no idea what to do. It was a wall, not a floor. Unless he wanted them to think of it as a floor. Hikaru shook his head at the thought. It probably isn't as simple.

Hikaru pondered on what to do. He considered just trying it out, but with the fact that he didn't know what he was doing still in his head, he would just look even more like an idiot. This was exactly as difficult as he thought it would be...or maybe not. Maybe he was overthinking it.

With a frustrated sigh, he started gripping his head, trying to figure it out, ending his little thinking rage with yet another sigh.

What was it that he said to do? 'Relax your body and mental state?'...Something about a battle...scolding the other guy that just stated that he was going to be completely dedicated to learning and success...Man, this first day's bringing out my worst thoughts. This does not bode well for the future.

It took another moment of frustrated thinking before he just gave up. He looked up at the wall, and just decided to do the next best thing. Within a moment, Hikaru ran up the wall and onto the ceiling from where he once stood, hoping that the large chance of him injuring himself would force his instincts to do the job for him. When he looked up toward the floor, he realized that this was a bad idea.

However, it was not a fruitless one. For a second, nothing much to consider that good, a small spark of light kept him from falling, but in the end, he ended up crashing into one of the desks.

Hikaru rubbed his head as he got up.

"Ow..."
