We definitely need airships though, whether of the magitek or purely magical variety.

...My current obsession with Empire of the Clouds might have something to do with my thoughts on the matter, though. ^^;

The whole flying ships thing brings back memories of FF III. It's a really cool idea.

So, by landslide, we have High Magic and Medium Tech.

Now, do we want to come up with races or a map?

I think we could do both, honestly, we've had suggestions for both. And I've suggested an original race as well so yeah. ^^;

Do we want to do one or the other first? My thoughts are that we could make a map first, then people could flesh out and suggest races that we could vote on, and then put on the map. Though, we could do that without the map.

Well, the thing with a map is unless we have someone who can actually draw one well it's more or less just vague ideas for continents and countries until we think of names for them.

Whilst I can offer to draw stuff for this, a cartographer I am not. ^^;

...I'd prefer to work on races first anyways, since that means we know what our map would actually need on it. XD

That's also a good point, I'd like to work on races more for that reason too. ^^;

... Also, I can draw stuff for this too to a certain extent, but it's limited to just kind of okay pencil lineart unless someone is willing to touch it up afterwards.

We could always use a map generator and choose the map we like the best, but I get your point(s).

That works out if you want, really. But in any case I'd like to start working on races.

For carnivorous, are we going full-on obligate carnivores (they can't actually eat vegetable matter), or just cultural reasons because there's no plants around for them to eat?

For humans, to get away from the whole 'pastiche of Medieval France and England' thing that tends to dominate, we could always look at the Mediterranean. If high elves were Roman for some reason or other, then that could imply cultural spread or association in the past, should humans derive more from late-medieval to Renaissance Italy, or the ERE. Though it could also be interesting to borrow from the Middle East, since that's a lot of medieval history that's rarely remarked upon... or, hell, go further east.

And now I'm wondering if we should borrow from steppe nomads. HORSEPEOPLE. Or sheep. Majestic battle-sheep.

I think we should have multiple human civilizations. Because I like the standard "medieval western European" thing, but it also means we can have other ones.

I'd say the latter, really. They'd probably eat mushrooms really, but other kinds of vegetables would be hard for them to find. XD

If I had other suggestions, they'd be Incan/Mayan/Aztec based, Holy Roman Empire-based, Warring States-era Japan based... Hmmm.

Well, I do have that one original race who use Mongolian aesthetics... >.> <.<

...Also had the idea for a neutral-aligned undead kingdom, since evil undead is a huge cliché. XD I mean yeah there'd probably still be evil undead around, and some of the more mindless ones would be controlled by evil wizards and the like, but I just think it would be interesting to have a (most likely small-ish) civilization of non-evil undead.

But I'm weird like that I guess.

Also, since we're doing high magic(that seems to be the consensus at least), the mecha could probably be powered by using magical means. Airships would probably use balloons made of various materials. Or floating rocks or something.

And, um, I have a few ideas to suggest in regards to some stuff.

First off, um, if anyone actually likes the whole "Inverted Black Tower" thing, it would now be called Edes Athran. It's on its own plane of existence, and in spite of it being an upside-down massive black tower, it's still incredibly malevolent and projects this malevolence onto the living world. It has no mind or thoughts or anything at all, but it's so evil that it casts a shadow into the living world. We'd have to work out what it actually does if anyone likes this idea but yeah.

Secondly, I have a deity to suggest! Her name is Ila-Nem, which is a contraction of Ila-Zenniso-Netuyem, and she is the night goddess(and chief deity) for a race of desert-dwelling humanoids. According to their creation myth, she brought down starlight and forged it into flesh and bone to create them. They are the Nem, who are a nocturnal race that resembles humans. They are extremely pale due to being nocturnal, with slightly-larger-than-most-human's, expressive red or yellow eyes and black hair. They're also very small at 3'4 to 3'5 as adults.

Like I said, I've got all this. ^^;

I think we should have it be full on carnivores (or perhaps slightly Omnivore. like they eat mostly meat because they can't really grow anything during the night or because of them being from a winter biome or something)

But that makes humans too vague and everywhere. As illogical from a historical viewpoint as it would be to have one human realm, it at least pins them to having a specific role in the world rather than 'be everything'.
