I am sorry everyone, I JUST NOW remembered to add a Paramedic's Jumpbag and the image for Allen's Rucksack to his CS, so I have added those and now I can breathe easily. XD

Ok. Sleep attained. Food attained (I'd been living yesterday off the one pancake I had for breakfast). Ready to go.

Dext I love your character. The gadget set up you have set up is actually strongly reminiscent of something I had in the concept staging of the roleplay. I had planned to give players an N-Tic chip (neuro-technology interfacing chip) that would allow direct mental control over their chosen gadgets. I removed the concept later on in order to allow more versatility in player gadget set ups but it is actually really nice to see someone came up with something similar and I look forwards to seeing how it performs in game.

When you say infiltration I assume you mean electronic infiltration and system control as one specilisation. Physical infiltration and electronic system control would be two specialisations. Also, as you characters civi specialisation is hacking you may change that combat specialisation to something else if you like and not lose the skill.

The thing you did with the voices was AWESOME! Forgive the intrusive question and feel free to ignore it but was that your voice?

Aha. The seraph. Someones been playing dues ex. ;)

Overall a very good character. Approved.

Don't worry about it dude. Must admit I did wonder about medical kits but forgot to voice the thought.

You will be starting on foot but vehicles will be available. Most cars will still run (at least to some extent) on gas so if you can find fuel and a vehicle to match (or adapt one to match for you engineering types) you will be able to drive. The group is quite large now though so anything short of a pickup/4x4 will be a bit of a squeeze. Just to clarify what tech is down. Electronic gear has been damaged heavily including generators (although not hardwired designs immune to emp). Mechanical tech should still operate. If it doesn't its likely there is a electronic component in there somewhere which needs bypassing.

Yeah, I kind of suspected that is how it would start. ^^ I, as for transportation, am cool with being on foot. I was just trying to get a better grasp of our enemies. I mean, unless our enemies are like "Bah, electricity is sin, God dislikes electricity." or something, they would probably hard wire all of their own stuff to be protected against the EMP, right?

Edit: Well, hell, now that I have been thinking about the things I have learned from a few Preppers I know, they wouldn't even need to hard wire there stuff, if they prepared before the EMP, at the very least all they would have had to do is put there equipment in a wooden building outfitted with receptors or metal plating built to conduct the EMP and disperse it into the ground. I am not saying THEY DID do that, I am just asking if our enemies protected their own gear.

Name:
Claire Elizabeth Carver

Alias:
Ashia

Nationality:
British

Gender:
Female

Age:
24

Appearance:

Height/Build:
Claire is 5’9, slightly taller than most other women. She has a light frame and athletic build, but more recently has gained a little weight adding curves to her physique.

Skin tone/colour:
Naturally lighter skin tone, however she usually has a slight tan from hours spent outdoors or the occasional trip abroad.

Hair colour and Style:
She keeps her hair long, it naturally being slightly curly and often ending up a tangled mess. She often ties it back or up, especially when doing something more active. She is quite protective of her hair, having grown it long for the first time in many years – and she plans to keep it that way.

Eye colour:
Claire’s eyes are a very light shade of blue that is also tinted with a green hint towards the centre. She often wears AR sunglasses, as her eyes can be a little sensitive to bright lights. (Also she is unable to wear contact lenses without her eyes become extremely irritated very quickly, rendering the lenses more than useless.

Scars/tattoos/birth-signs:
Not that you could ever tell without seeing them, Claire actually has a great deal of scars over her body. She has several from various accidents, combat situations and even a few inflicted by the hands of a captor.

Fashion:
Claire wears an assortment of clothes, many of them being exactly what you would expect of a British 24 year old. She strongly favours hooded tops and other jackets with hoods – an old habit of hers that is hard to shake. She wears jeans or other practical leg-wear as opposed to dresses or blouses – aside from the rare special occasion.

Within her cache she has a military grade hooded camouflage jacket – custom made and of the finest quality materials and craftsmanship, along with a set of matching banded leggings – for total ease of movement.

Voice: Claire’s voice is feminine, but lacks the general ‘energy’ that you would expect looking at her. Her words are almost careful and deliberate. It is very rare to hear her voice raised in either anger or excitement – and in general her voice seems a little deeper than most women’s.

Biography:
Claire’s story began really with her first discernible memory with her parents, from what she can remember a happy but extremely distant time. Her childhood was generally speaking a good one – her parents being wealthy enough to spend the majority of their time travelling and bringing their daughter with them. At fourteen she remembers beginning to rebel against them, nothing major but it was a general progression that got worse and worse as the years went on. A few weeks after her sixteenth birthday she left them, leaving in the dead of night without so much of a goodbye – at the time it seemed appropriate and like the best thing to do. With the money she had taken it wasn’t hard to do what she wanted, travelling on her own for a time – getting involved with the wrong crowds and generally wasting both her life and the money that she had. It wasn’t long before everything seemed to hit rock bottom – away long way away from home and without anyone to turn to. Her life took a dark plunge which she refuses to remember, or perhaps simply can’t. Eventually she managed to escape the darkness, moving completely away from Europe and venturing to Africa. Starting a new life, as she convinced herself she quickly became involved in an illegal racing scene. It didn’t matter what it was, bike, car or even boat, as long as it moved fast and she could make money she was in. Things seemed to go well for a while, but as with all illegal activities a temptation to become more and more involved presented itself to her – and she couldn’t resist for long.

The difference between what she did in Europe to what she did hear was immense. She had stepped away from ‘criminal’ and was quickly becoming involved with men who were branded as ‘rebels’ and ‘insurgents’, even occasionally ‘terrorist’. With her skill as a driver she quickly became involved with very dangerous work despite practically no combat training in the slightest. The men she was involved with taught her many things, and in return often tried to take what they wanted in return. The first man, who she had long considered a friend and one of the first people to introduce her to the world of illegal racing took her completely by surprise. Her guard was down and he was in quicker than a loaded bullet. In the brief struggle that ensued she had frantically tried to escape, unleashing something deep within her that she had never felt before. With strength and rage like she had never considered within her she killed the man with her bare hands, gouging at his eyes and punching wildly. From that moment she was able to tap into that feeling somewhat, to turn herself into a warrior capable of terrible things. Never again did anyone get past her guard, and with more confidence and determination than ever before she learnt everything she could. She earned the name ‘Ashia’ from the tribal Afrikaans the fighters were involved with, meaning ‘Hope’ from an ancient Somalian myth.
At the age of twenty she was a highly trained guerrilla warrior, having spent time in numerous combat zones across the third world, becoming involved with countless different groups and ideologies. She could never stay in one place for too long, aside from the obvious reasons she always felt like it was time to move on for reasons she could never understand. It was a very unfulfilling existence that caused her to remain deeply unhappy, despite whatever she tried to do, tried to become a part of.

At twenty-two she become heavily involved in a rebellion in what was once Nepal. Numerous corporations backed by Chinese money have moved in, aggressively pushing out the population and taking control slowly and with brutal methods. It was a turning point in what many saw as a political battle about the powers that cooperate states could truly wield. With the UN tied, the legality of the cooperate states actions being heavily debated across the globe, it was left to people like her and other ‘terrorists’ to stand in the way whilst the world talked. The rebellion was swiftly put down, not being able to stand against the might of the corporate wallet – and the high tech weaponry it bought. She was captured along with hundreds of others. The next week was again one of the worst she had ever experienced, the nightmares often keeping her awake even now. The world made its decision, the corporate states being granted the territory they had taken, in return for a set of ‘rights’ and other basic privileges for the remaining inhabitants. The prisoners captured in the fighting were mostly executed within the first week, the remaining ones being returned to their respective governments. Claire was lucky in that respect, also it was probably the reason she was kept alive instead of simply being killed. She admitted and proved her nationality fairly easily and was returned to the United Kingdom under lock and key. After a few weeks in a high profile prison recovery ward she was approached by several agents of the British government. Her options were short, and after a ten minute conversation she chose to work with the government and for the UN, over the other much more solitary option.

From there it was a simple case of recovering, attending countless ‘rehabilitation & reintegration’ courses amongst other compulsory tests before she could begin her training. It was a very different life from what she had ever experienced, but she had to admit she liked it. For the first time she felt like she had some purpose as well as a secure environment. She quickly excelled in her training with her experience, and picked up many more new skills that she could apply.

She began working as an advance and off-road driving instructor as part of a civilian facility that offered advance driving instruction. The work was well enough paid and she enjoyed it most days. She also became involved in a semi-national rally association and occasionally participates races and events as a driver or sometimes co-driver. She is located in Hampshire – only about an hour’s drive away from London.

Civilian Specialisation/Job: Advanced Driving
Combat Specialisation: E.g. Advanced Driving, Guerrilla Warfare & Reconnaissance.

Weapons and ammo:

Equipment:

These Aviators also include a micro camera and communication relay.

- Standard issue Bivi bag. An enclosed, waterproof sleeping bag designed for sleeping outdoors unsheltered. This one comes with a second removable layer of insulation to allow adaptability to different climates. When the bag is closed an integrated mini-tent at head level provides some headroom.

-Rations. Enough food to last four days used sparingly.

Gadgets:
Claire was provided with a special gadget for use expressly in the event of a crisis:
Skeleton-Jack: A small techno-jack, basically a ‘one fits all’ deal when it comes to getting in vehicles and driving them. It uses a combination of liquid-nanotechnology and old fashion force to break and open almost any vehicle lock and then start the engine (all aside from the most advanced military models). It generally breaks the lock so only the Skeleton-Jack will work from then onwards, rendering the original key useless.

Hey lord pie.

Great character! I can tell you've taken the time to read through the OOC content and you've used it well. Just one thing. She would be working for the UN not the EU which even now I consider to be a pretty poor system on account of it being undemocratic.

No gadgets?

Just as a suggestion - I don't know where you're from, but I live in Portsmouth, which is in Hampshire. A good place for Claire's civilian cover job to be based could be the Goodwood Estate, which has a motor sport circuit. It's just over the border with Hampshire in West Sussex, but only by about 10-15 miles or so, so she wouldn't be far off.
There's not really the driving courses you mention there at the moment, but it's not a stretch to imagine that they could offer the same kind of thing by 2030 :P

Also, it would make you closely located to my character, which is another good advantage for the RP, and for them working together when things go down.

Also, hi, look. I'm in this game too.

Agreed. And thats some good advice silver.

Anyways. I am working on the IC guys! I am having a little trouble focussing (even on writing this message) because my mother simply will not stop talking. She isn't even talking to anyone. She is just saying every thought that pops into her head. Very distracting. (Usually I stay at my Dad's place where I don't have this problem.)

My apologies. You didn't really need to know that. I just thought I'd say it may take a little while.

My sincerest apologies. I'm going to have to finish the post off tomorrow. I will get it done asap. This should at least give some time for last moment adjustments to character sheets and for any stragglers to put in their character sheets. Once again I am deeply sorry. I'd been really looking forwards to launching today too :( .

As always any ideas are welcomed. I am afraid after some consideration for now I will not be accepting multiple or antagonist characters. I may permit it in the future however and there may be one or two exceptions made for some very specific reasons during the campaign.

Anyways. Goodnight (or good day to you overseas folks) and once again. Sorry.

No problem at all. And yes, that was my voice. I felt it would be easier to relate the character if a real voice was used. And since I didn't have any sexy voicemodels around, I figured I'd just use mine :)

Hah! To be entirely honest I really didn't think of that, but now that you've brought it up I think it's funny.

Got it, changed my combat specialization to covert infiltration/data retrieval.

It's not problem waiting for things to get going - we all seem eager to start, but since we're all pretty invested in the game, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we're happy to wait for it to be the best it can be, rather than it being rushed.
Whatever happens, it's going to be good fun with the cast we've got assembled so far. I'm eager to see how our group works together against whatever comes up.

Yeah that seems a good idea! I actually live not far from yourself then - really close actually. I'm in Basingstoke, so that’s like what, an hour and a half on the train? :p

Seems a good place to focus on starting at - like you say makes it easier to get our characters together early and then join up with the others.

Yeah I’m definitely keep to start this, always good to be with a GM who has specified they are looking for committed long term players. Makes the chance of the RP dying much slimmer (especially with the work and content we’ve been given).

I’ve joined so many RPs that have only lasted a few rounds or not even got to the IC point. Always most saddening. Anyway! Looking forwards to really getting into it with your characters!

Name: Edard Wayne Lindsey
Alias: Farstrider
Nationality: Irish
Gender: Male
Age:28

Appearance:

Height/Build:5'4", athletic, 135lbs [american, sorry, i'm not used to the metric system, so I have no idea what the conversion will be for his weight in kilos or whatever the prefered unit is for you guys in the rest of the world. I'll promise not to be bigoted if you guys won't be predjudiced against this 'colonist', heh.]
Skin tone/color: lightly tanned, which is about as far as anyone of Irish decent can really get, lol
Hair colour and Style: brown, worn in a ponytail and goatee/ moustache and 'soul-patch'
Eye colour: Blue, sometimes grey [natural] wears contacts that white out his eyes while on missions, and proscription contacts besides, with the left having full eye-net capability [i.e.: the AR functionality] with the earpiece driver worn in the right ear.
Scars/tattoos/birth-signs: Triquetra tattoo on right shoulder
Fashion: Tee and jeans with leather jacket, vest, belt and boots, beanie [casual], button-down shirt and slacks with silk vest, overcoat and loafers [dress] cargoes, combat boots, hoodie, fingerless gloves [tactical]
Voice: low, but not deep, with a slight drawl

Personality: upbeat and witty, sarcastic. He tries to find the positive light in even the darkest situations, having seen firsthand that to let the darkness within overtake him, is to consign himself to an existence only a few shades better than living death.

Biography: bullied unrelentingly as a child, [third of four to a single mother] for any of a plethora of reasons -such as the use of words like 'plethora' in everyday speech- he spent many of his formative years as a wallflower-type. Realizing however, that life was not meant to be a spectator's sport, he decided to get off the benches and onto the field as he grew into a young adult, harvesting and cultivating skills that helped to hone his body as much as his solitary lifestyle had allowed him to hone his mind -he's fairly well read, though he seems to be the only one in the world who knows the weight of a leather-bound book in his hands and liked it- such as parkour, aikido, -much as most would prefer 'harder' styles, he was a bit fearful of how much of his own darker instincts and traits might pervert his use of such styles, opting instead for a more disciplined, more spiritually focused art- hiking, backpacking, and survivalist camping -the art of enduring the elements with as little gear as necessary- rounded out his pre-UN lifestyle.

Having been told from various sources that he was a nobody, and would never amount to anything in his life, you might imagine his surprise when he was selected for a special UN Taskforce for his survivalist skills. He'd really thought nothing of the months he'd spent touring european wilderness with nothing but the items he could strap to his body, drop into his pockets or belt pouch, or fit into his rucksack -an old, beat up leather pack reminiscient of Indiana Jones- but apparently in a world as addicted to it's technology as his Uncle Jerry that no one in the family has seen but everyone talks about is -or was, if indeed the rumors of his death are at all to be believed- addicted to heroine, someone who could just walk away from it all without a single qualm was exceptional, apparently. And, so, after a para-military indoctrination process and a promise to report for training during proscribed months out of his year, he was encouraged to act as though he wished, so long as he kept his head down, took their close combat courses and followed his orders. Keeping his head down had never really been difficult for him anyway, and following orders didn't bother him in the least as it actually served to give his mostly aimless life a bit of purpose. The combat training he was uneasy about at first, but found he liked both the style and the instructor, after the entire first session was spent in a tea house just going over the philosophies and backgrounds of both men, as his instructor viewed martial arts as self defense first and last, and if the self doesn't feel the self is worth defending, it will not learn any style as well as it could. through the instructor, Ed would incorporate Krav-Maga, Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and other styles he at one time felt were too 'hard' to be tampered with, considering his decades-long suppressed aggression and has found that old anger there and ready for him to use during the courses.

Civilian Specialisation/Job: Pays the bills as a machinist, making parts for robotic versions of animals people keep as pets for a guy who has a personal cat-sized fire-breathing dragon with it's own built-in wifi hotspot.
Combat Specialisation: Wilderness survival/CQC [close quarters combat]

Weapons and ammo: Xiphod [read:hidden blade] with a stun-gun built-in on left forearm. LW-3 Automatic 12-guage shotgun with an underslung grenade launcher, Drum magazine holding 38 rounds of 00 buckshot, a 10 round box magazine with lead slugs, and three grenades of any of the following types: flash-bang, thermite-incendiary, frag, tear-gas, sleep gas.
Equipment:
Standard issue is:
-Augmented reality system. The UN prefers agents wear the contact lens version of these for concealability however for agents who refuse these AR is available in numerous designs of eyewear.
-Bivi bag. An enclosed, waterproof sleeping bag designed for sleeping outdoors unsheltered. This one comes with a second removable layer of insulation to allow adaptability to different climates. When the bag is closed an integrated mini-tent at head level provides some headroom.
-Coms set/camera. This is usually head mounted in a discreet manner such as a bluetooth style headset or similar and is the primary means of communication with the groups handler as well as between characters when out of hearing range. The camera's mounted within transmit images to the handler and can be made to take a still for later use at the click of a button. The headset can also be used to transmit images into the AR system by the handler.
-A 40 litre rucksack with chest and waist straps. These come in various colours, shapes and styles to avoid operatives looking too uniform and help them blend in. They are usually rugged and waterproof.(Customise to taste. May be replaced with a bigger or a smaller one as desired but be sure you can carry what you have.).
-Fixed bladed utility knife and sheath.
-Rations. Enough food to last four days used sparingly.
-beyond the general issue, Edard has the following: Weighted sap gloves, to add extra weight to his punches, his Eye-Net contact lense [facilitates the AR with a micro-screen built into it, worn on the left eye] a belt-pouch he uses for a drop-bag, and a rebreather mask.
Gadgets: his undershirt harvests body heat and converts it into electrical energy stored in a wrist-watch device actually built into the left sleeve. The xiphoid he wears is a modern-tech version of an old weapon, adapted to include the stun-gun feature as a less-than-lethal option, as well as a composite armor plate on the back of the gauntlet holding the blade that flips up to reveal a tablet style micro computer onto which he's stored all the data he's found to be crucial to his survival forays, which he goes on with an express purpose of observing what few animals actually remain alive in the world so the other geniuses that work for his boss can make the robots that much more realistic, and though his employer has often and repeatedly offered Edard any one robot of his choosing with free maintenance and software updates for life for all his hard work, he has just as often politely refused, though he is slowly warming to the thought of a companion.
