Also, why do some schools (aka mine and most schools in this part of the USA) have no Pledge of Allegiance, and in others (Namely the Bible Belt) you can get punished for not reciting it. (Even though such punishment was ruled unconstitutional 30 YEARS AGO!)

@HaltingBlooperIts the same reason we have so much 90's nostalgia, people are bitter and unwilling to let go of the past. It divides people.

@HaltingBlooper I just haven't had anything to say and I'm sort of supposed to be gone... I'm cheating on my goneness right now though. And yeah, it's pretty lame that they do that. In my experience teachers can basically break the law and get away with it in some cases. Like I once had a 'teacher' who would make fun of me in front of the whole class and prevent my from going to recess when I had a hard time understanding assignments. Once we had a horrible music teacher who wouldn't let us leave after the last bell rang and the buses were getting ready to take us home even though that's against the freaking law.

I had lots of teachers that wanted keep me after school to finish tests or do make ups for being sick and got pissy when I threatened to go to the principal for it. That time in my life, my mom didn't get home till 7 to 8 and my step dad didn't get home till the middle of the night. The bus was my only hope to get home.

They didn't like it one bit that I had to waste their lunch <---- literally had one of them say this

@Akayaofthemoon Haha yeah, for some reason teachers on power trips somehow had to be super over-dramatic about it as well. "YOU'RE DISRESPECTING ME WHEN YOU FORGET TO BRING A PENCIL TO CLASS!" and "THE BELL DOES NOT DISMISS YOU, I DO!" are a couple of my favorite examples of it. I wish I'd had the guts to threaten them like you did, probably wouldn't have turned out well though.

My favorite is this one,

"YOU CAN'T HAVE A PIECE OF PAPER! YOU EITHER HAVE IT OR YOU DON'T. IT IS YOUR JOB TO COME PREPARED!"

Or with an addition to the one above which gives me the perfect comeback.

"JUST BORROW A PIECE FROM SOMEONE."

Akaya: "How can I borrow a piece of paper? Wouldn't that imply that I need to return it so how does that help me?"

"I DON'T LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE!"

Akaya: Well, I am just stating a fact but I guess I can ask to have a piece of paper.

@Akayaofthemoon XD moments like that were the best. Or at least, most of them are fun to look back on now, they sucked when they were happening. It really is weird how short of a fuse some of them could have about people not being prepared, I thought mine were the only ones.

I remember one time my brother got sent to the office because, after one of his teachers was finished making some end-of-day announcements, he added one "And [friend], Mega Man does not shoot bubbles."

Teachers didn't like me because, I would flat out read or draw in their class because when I switched highschools, they put me in classes I had already done and would not let me switch to a higher level so I didn't pretend to be happy about it. They would call on me, thinking they could get me in trouble for not listening but I would answer the question perfectly. It really tanned their hides and I loved it. I have nothing against teachers but some are just out to make the students lives hell or pick favorites.

The only time I ever went to summer school is because a teacher chose favorites. The favorites got B+ and the rest got F

Sadly, it was so bad that the school couldn't figure out the real grades because they didn't notice till the end of the year. It was so bad that you walked in and people would be like, "[insert teacher's name]?" and you would be like "Yup". This complete stranger knew and felt you pain for being there for doing nothing wrong. We had strangers from different school even know.

@Akayaofthemoon That really sucks! I thankfully never had any teachers blatantly choose favorites like that, but a few of them did have reputations for being abusive.

Still, messing with them like that must have been pretty fun. I wish I had been smart enough in school to mess with some of them like that, but sadly that wasn't me. And yeah, I don't really have anything against teachers either but some of the ones I had were just abusive jerks.

@Akayaofthemoon I wasn't either, I was just super lazy and bad at doing things on time. And then when I actually tried I was often so confused about the instructions that I would make it look like I was screwing things up on purpose and I'd get yelled at.

@21308

I love the teacher that told me I needed to figure it out when I asked for help. I seriously wanted to say, why can't you do your job but kept my mouth shut. I came up to her again, saying I still couldn't figure it out because she wanted us to do it a certain way and I had learned a different way. She told me that my parent needed to help me. My mom couldn't figure out the book either but showed me an easier way than even I knew how to do it. I told her I wasn't allowed to do it that way but what choice did we have when we both didn't get it.

I got a zero even though I had the right answers. I came up to her and asked why I got a zero even though the answers were right.

She said that didn't do it the way I was suppose to...oh I got her good.

"Oh, so next time I should just not bother doing my homework?"

*looks at me in horror* "Why do you say that? Of course you need to do your homework!"

" I spent five hours with my mother trying to figure out this homework assignment and that didn't include dinner or the other homework I had to do. I kept my mom up late and she read it all and couldn't figure it out the exact way you wanted. I asked you for help but you said have my parent help me and she did it the only way she knew how. At least I understood enough that way to get the correct answer. Now you are telling me that because you wouldn't help me, because I couldn't figure it out and my mom couldn't either that I am getting a zero no matter what I do. Next time I just won't do my homework and save not only myself but my family hours of frustration that will lead to no end."

*Suddenly gets an A*

@Akayaofthemoon Wow, I have to give you props for that because I never would have done it. I never had what it took to call out my teachers s a kid, even when they blatantly deserved it.

I am very honest....I am a horrible liar so honesty has always been my best policy and when I am mad I use it very well. I have facts ready so how can they dispute the logical and truth. This is why people come to me for advice because I observe everything and know probably more about both sides of a situation more than the people involved.
