I have a couple of ideas to make your character a pirate captain relevant to Blackwing, since there are many smaller component ships attached to it (All about the size of the ship from the movie Sinbad.) Which are legitimate ships you could possibly own as your own. Just a thought. :)

Personality: He tends towards natural surliness and dry-witted disregard for others, devoting most of his words to critiques, nitpicks, or petty barbs directed at those around him. Jackson is cool and calculating enough from behind cover, but is pretty clearly a firebrand at heart - often recklessly moving to a less advantageous spot of cover if it gives him a better fight or allows him a stab or a punch at the enemy's throat. He's not a bad guy to have around when you're sharing a few beers - mostly because, "begrudgingly," there are very few people in Angel's Landing that he wouldn't buy a beer for - but expect yourself to get your balls broken into fragments if you become too close to him. Jackson is a Man of the Sun, and proud of it. Being a knight is a dream come true, even if it sounds a bit more idealistic than you'd think he would appreciate. Truth is, it's just about the coolest damn thing on the planet to him, being a part of the Tower of Stars. That enthusiasm translates better through punches than it does good cheer, that's all. It's a toxic masculinity thing.

Biography/history: Jackson lived a pretty unremarkable life in a low part of Angel's Landing. Money was tight, there was gang trouble constantly, but the kid lived a pretty lowkey life, not bothering to butt in and get into any scraps. His family, naturally, was furious. Four generations of vigilante justice left a lot of things ingrained in a family, good and bad, and the simple fact was that Jackson was more content to dick around with some local broad and let her eat the family out of house and home than he was to get up and punch the dogshit outta some scum of the earth. There were demons running around this place, for Exandra's sake! What point was wearing God's Heart on your sleeve, he heard a million times, if you're not willing to channel it!?

It was only three years ago that he decided to step up and get willing. On a crawl with his old man, the bar they were currently squabbling at was held up by some local thugs demanding a protection racket. Jackson managed to get out of things pretty well intact, but his dad was beaten comatose for months and God's Heart was stolen. No doubt someone had taken the glove for something fancy that could be pawned off to a weapon's collector. No doubt it had been headed to some warehouse to be boarded up and collect dust until it made a return on investment. No doubt that if the gang had been given half a chance, the family heirloom might have slipped through the fingers of the Pulliams forever.

It made it one block.

Using his comically-oversized "knife" to great effect, Jackson eviscerated the bicep of the thug who'd put on God's Heart, and when he pulled the glove off and put it on himself, he felt his life imbue with new purpose. Fighting off as many of the gang members as he could - to the point of good sense, of course - he doubled back and got his dad to a hospital. He would have written the whole thing off as a fluke if his father hadn't woken up from his beating five days later and, upon hearing of what had transpired in the aftermath of the assault, conferred God's Heart onto his once-wastrel son full time. All he asked was that Jackson use it as he saw best. The young fighter was more than happy to oblige, and his trail of offenses and defenses of local turf in Angel's Landing - plus an increasing desire for a larger scale theatre than smuggling and protection rackets - led him to the Tower of Stars.

Reason for recruitment: At the age of 24, it's about time someone whipped him into shape, and if no one was going to volunteer he might as well seek out something that lets him grab that chance by the balls. Maturing is good enough; maturing into a paragon for all humanity to follow? A goddamn knight? Nobody in their right mind wouldn't seek that out.

Strength of Will: Unnatural

Magic: None developed, though there's a potential for Abjuration magic that sometimes manifests in combination with God's Heart.

God relations: Kind of slaps Exandra's name onto a crusade now and again. Mostly a humanist who fights for the sake of humans, though, so don't expect to hear him screaming on behalf of the Will of Judgement every time he cracks a guy's rib.

Tech: Left arm: God's Heart - A metal glove cutting off on the phalanges that never leaves Jackson's left hand. When the young knife fighter cracks the knuckles on his left hand, the glove expands into a lobstered steel gauntlet-vambrace combination, chased with purple and silver lines of metal that call to mind circuitry running along a chip. The fingers expand as well, ending in bright talons tipped with the same threads of color. The glove has been in Jackson's family for five generations, and is alleged to be an artifact of Exandra, blessed with the strength to strike injustice from the very hearts that dare go up against God's. Personally, Jackson has knocked out plenty of things with the glove, but there's still enough injustice in the world that he's not quite willing to call it one way or the other.

Right arm: Devil's Tongue - A nineteen-and-a-third inch Bowie "knife," titanium-alloyed. Very, very loosely considered a knife. Often worn vertically along Jackson's torso, underneath the knight's jacket. Nothing particularly special about it, other than an odd instance in which the weapon reacts poorly to the very touch of God's Hand. This requires Jackson to wield his blade with one hand and forces him to catch any blows in the solid steel of the other.

Possessions/items/property: Leather jacket, silver with violet lapels and cuffs. Empty bandoleer, slung over shoulder opposite Devil's Tongue. Ceramic cookie jar, unique sky blue color. Vehemently denies hand painting was involved. [Hand painting was involved.]

Skills: "Knife" fighting. Perhaps it helps that his knife is more along the lines of a leaf-bladed sword, but Jackson has always been handy with it regardless. Also a somewhat decent kickboxer, though he relies on the Hand to give him a good slice of protection and the oomph of steel smacking on face or into chest. If the laughably contrived 'drinking contest' ever comes along, you want this man on your team.

Misc: Theme music.
