A Tarot Inspired Magical Girl Roleplay
Intro
The legends tell us that a long ago the world was a place of peace, and beauty. Everyone lived in harmony under the guidance of Omiko-sama, the Shrine Maiden of the Gods, and her words and blessings filled the heart of the people with joy for countless years. This age of peace and prosperity became known as the Era of the Gods.
However, "everything that exists must on day come to an end" as nature's number one law dictates. Even the God's are no exception to this rule and their end, as well as that of the era named after them came when the prayers and hymns of joy from the children of the gods reached the ears of an ancient being, a great serpent that was older than even time itself, who had been slumbering on the deepest reaches of the earth for as long as the world existed and finally shook it awake. The being curled it's giant body around the world and broke it, shattering the lands beyond all recognition and then devoured the fragments, one by one, ending countless lives and ruining the land forever.
Nothing that anyone could do would harm the serpent in anyway, and it kept on eating and eating, gorging itself on the bounty of the Era of the Gods. People despaired and cursed their fallen creators, but their unavoidable fate soon made even the despair become apathy as people gave up on living. It wasn't until another mysterious being, a girl who claimed to be a descendant from the Omiko-sama, rose to prominence and defeated the Gargantuan Snake, dividing its power in in twenty two parts, sealing them on special deck of cards and scattering them all through the cosmos, to ensure that the destroyer of worlds would never revive again.
No one knows for sure how the story went from there on, but many say that the girl was so much rejoice and revered by the people that she was crowned Empress and led the world to another era of peace.
All of these are tales from a past long since gone, however and what really matters is that on the modern world, mysterious events began to happen and the presence of the cards used to seal the power of the Destroyer had resurfaced after untold millenia. However, their has dwindled greatly from what it was in the past and now, they were corrupted by the leaking power of the Destroyer, becoming what is known as the Inverted Arcana.
The very existence of these corrupted cards threatens the balance of the world and, if the destroyer's power keeps on leaking, there's no telling of what could happen. For this reason, a group of brave girls has been chosen as the guardians of the last few uncorrupted cards and being granted powers by a mysterious benefactor to fight and purify the cards, before it's too late.
Plot
On this roleplay you'll be taking the role of middle school aged (11 to 15 years old) girls, from a common Japanse city (Miso City) that will have their daily lives changed forever when a mysterious being offers them the power of magic. This magic comes from a special set of Tarot Major Arcana cards that can grant special powers to its users. Every girl will have one card at the beginning of the story, but you'll naturally pick the rest of the set during the roleplay.
The powers that the cards grant can be based either on the cards traditional meanings of the cards, or an associated imagery, anyway, before you pick a power be sure to clear it up with us first, ok? While on that matter, the following cards can not be chosen for plot related reasons: Justice, The Devil, Death, The Tower, The Word and The Fool, all of the others are fair game.
Rules
- No Godmoding
- No OOC fighting
- Be reasonable when fighting IC (no auto hitting/ infinite dodging, no killing/ harming someone else's character without their permission and all that)
- Be cordial. Respect other people and you will be treated equally, not and we're will have to ask you to leave, kindly.
- Please respect all of the GMs. We should be the final arbiters of any dispute.
- Follow the Guild's rules for content/language. Take any improper material to PMs, please.
- Keep your IC posts at a minimum length of one paragraph and please try to write as well as you can. We know that English is not everyone's main language, but that's no excuse to being negligent.
- Although there is no posting order, please do not spam post. Wait at least until two people have gone before you before posting again.
- If you're going to leave for an extended period of time, or drop the RP, please let us know. We might be become a little sad because of it but we will respect your choice, but leaving without prior notice causes unneeded distress for all the other players.
- Everyone will be allowed a maximum of 1 character.
- Given the limited nature of the resources on this RP, the maximum number of players will be of 6 (not counting the GMs). However, I'm not going for a "first come first serve" politic and in case more than six people show interest, I'll chose the characters that fit the setting of the RP better.
