Name: "Hymn" (Gray Garapon)
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: "Mercenary" (Sword Lord)
Appearance:Personality:Idealistic, Gray is a passionate man when it comes to his endeavors, specifically the current politics within Isa Lomitia. Even though he can come off as naive in a sense, he is completely serious in what he means and will work by all means to accomplish his tasks. The man is considered brave and determined by his peers who would visit the boy from time to time. Even with his determination, Gray is by no means a fool, and has come from a very learned household, despite being sheltered most of his life... and with these talents, he works to bring forth an era which he can truly be proud of.
Even so, he is prone to ignoring those he cares about in his pursuit for the ideals he believes in. Gray is easily blinded by his own standards set out for him which sometimes transforms him into a hypocrite. Manipulative to a pint, he may treat you like an ally, but unless you're with his plans to create a better kingdom, he will see you nothing more than a tool. Who knows, maybe he can change to be a bit more selfless over time?
"It's difficult to make a change from my country, especially with all these pathetic jesters masquerading as Dukes and Ladies..."
The first years, this child was filled to the brim with happiness, safeguarded from the disfigured truth beyond the mansions walls. He was the eldest of two children, and found himself wet-nursed due to his parents inability to care for Gray or the younger brother. The politics and abrupt rebellions from the poor were always out of mind as he grew up with his brother, great knowledge being bestowed onto both of them. Sword fighting, sparring so they could become distinguished lords when fighting for the great monarchy of Isa Lomitia.
While they both grew up, Grays reality was shattered when he found what it was like to be a commoner at the age of twelve. While he was being instructed in the art of politics, Gray questioned what it was like beyond the walls of his home, if it was as great as his teachers told them it was. Of course, the educator told him the truth, without a doubt believing the boy would come to realize the places among the two social classes. Gray was shocked and appalled at his newfound knowledge. Gray demanded to see the outside world, to which the teacher dismissed his claims, saying that he would be looked down upon by lesser beings.
Eventually, the boy pleaded to have his first glimpse of the outside world to his father, but was always denied due to the "dangers" lying past the walls. His father stood stalwart to Grays begging, but eventually he got the taste he wanted... the truth. One day as he was sparring with one of his teachers, he took notice of a noise emanating somewhere within the enclosed space. Curious, Gray swiftly put an end to the battle with a decisive blow before helping up his instructor and asking if he could take a break before running off.
What he saw made him sick. Apparently a bunch of royals who were friends to his father came in with what they claimed was a "flock of sheep." Apparently, these sheep took the forms of humans who were begging to be let go and demanded justice. Keeping hidden, he watched from the sidelines as the nobles tortured each person in rags, molesting them in various forms. Eventually, the voices were silenced as the nobles massacred each of the beings brought in... slowly and painfully as possible.
Of course, Gray managed to finally figure out a way to properly sneak out after this event, determined to see life beyond the cage he was in. That unimaginable horror he sneaked a peek at the brutality of the aristocracy. Of course, he had attempted this before and this time was lucky to escape the clutches of the palace guards... what the teen found stunned him. As Gray mingled with myriads of people who looked at him in fear, he saw merchants scamming innocents out of money, watching as the withered hundreds struggled to survive. He didn't want to believe that these feeble, malnourished people were the queens subjects... but reality hit him hard.
Before he returned to the mansion, he attempted to make one change as there was guilty within him selling up just from what he saw. This happened when he was traversing back to the castle, he bumped into a weak commoner who stared back in fear before attempting to scurry off. Gray caught the man who stared at him directly in the eyes as if it was death ready to reap his soul. Of course Gray did what he could to strike up a conversation with the paltry person, but failed to do so since he appeared uncomfortable about this whole predicament. The teen eventually let him go, but not before giving him a couple of gold in hopes of brightening his day. The mans eyes lit up as he ran off, disappearing into the crowds.
Gray made it back to the abode through sheer luck before enduring scolding from his nurses. He gave out a white lie which they bought, but would end up working twice as hard the next day. However, these events were kept near to his heart more than anything as the dawn of a new Gray was born - a duke that grew up, wanting to make a change within the monarchy. He knew the consequences and how foolish it was to try and change who a person was... but hell if he wouldn't stop trying. Gray made himself an exemplar in his subjects after this fact, and even went as far to study things the teachers mentioned he would probably never need to know, such as making a fire, or cleaning up wounds.
Eventually, he began coming of age and began mingling with politicians about the current state of Isa Lomitia. Of course, he was seen as a bit of an extremist with ideas of helping the poor out and was never taken seriously for his claims... However, most aristocrats grew afraid of his thought process since he did come from an affluent family. Some came up with a plan to cause the boys downfall, to make it look like an accidental death. They knew this would hurt the boys father, but it would make his ignorant brother the heir to the estate which allowed them to continue the cycle of corruption within the monarchy.
The boy was invited to go on a hunting trip with his fathers companions at the age of twenty, much to his dismay as he could care less about catching wild game and more about the nightmarish state the kingdom was in. However, he was pressured and eventually forced to accompany them as game. Eventually, they all had their swords turned on him, guffawing as they taunted him, calling him names as if he was a rapscallion. Though he did manage to flee from them, was almost killed in the process as he was dealt a crude blow to his arm. He survived it, but was forced to deal with the recovery for a couple of months.
Gray was now considered dead, and his brother was now the heir to the Garapon estate... Gray did make an attempt at returning to the capital, however found that the same nobles came equipped with thugs willing to take his life if he did return. Knowing that this was in a sense, exile of sorts, he fought and fell most of his assailants before escaping their grasps. The man then concluded that if he was to make a change, he would need that false sense of power, an army that would be willing to help him in his cause.
After this little event, he looks to gain new allies in foreign lands and sovereign nations to bolster his strength and make a true reform in Isa Lomitia upon his... "surprising" return from the dead. Even with a supposedly "naive" mindset, he still soldiers on, wanting to make the nation truly illustrious as the lies his mentors fed him. Gray now takes on the new persona of Hymn, a lone wolf mercenary with fancy skills to match his well adorned armor.
Of course, his three years filled with misadventures have taken him somewhere interesting as of late. Due to rumors, the lord brandishes his sword not at common thugs or corrupt nobles, but ruins which housed shadowy marauders. The rumors also included that soldiers and mercenaries would be attending and dealing with whatever sulked around in the crumbling structure. Using this as a vantage point, he found that if he could rally around these random strangers, he could try to become their leader and clash with these creatures before requesting their aid in changing the politics of Isa Lomitia.
War was looming on the horizon as Gray traversed to meet up with this army, and possibly usurp it for his own agenda once the problem was dealt with. He was now a true "traitor" to the crown.
